The "Americanization of the global internet" post and slow deterioration of local native culture gave me an idea: many users don't even know there is native language communities on this website, so if you know of a regional group/"subculture" on Tumblr, reblog/comment with the tags they use so people can find them and connect with other folks from their countries or speakers of a language they'd like to learn

I will try to update this post with every new addition to hopefully make a comprehensive list of Tumblr regional communities

As much as possible, please don't impose American viewpoints onto the Seven. Besides not being modern, none are American, and thus would not have American experiences.

The history of slavery in the Caribbean is nothing like that of Americans, nor is the history of being black the same in America as with anywhere else in the world. Knowing the nuances of regional differences is more important than most people realize. Too often I see racial/ethnic discourse happening in a side of the world wherein the experiences and perspectives are on a completely different level, and I don't want that to happen on this blog, at least OOC.

IC is a little different (Josep can go on a TIRADE on how he is not "Spanish", he's Catalan), and even then, I try to tread carefully when it comes to identity politics. Even Ruixiong's "IT'S NOT CHINESE" gags have to be done with awareness and consideration.

I do know imposing American perspectives isn't an easy habit to shed off. I'm American. Not everyone will or ever has opportunities to live in another country, nor is everyone a child of immigrants raised in a traditional foreign home. So this is a *gentle* reminder to bear in mind that not everyone in the Internet is American and, therefore, you shouldn't impose American perspectives on non-Americans. This goes to race, religion, history, everything.

Reverse is true, of course. But in this blog, I welcome non-American boolying coming my way, because I find them fascinating and hilarious. I may not understand why Norwegians are pissing on Swedes the same way the locals of the other country is, or Tim Horton jokes from Canada, or haram/halalposting, etc., but I love them and I appreciate them as an observing outsider. Also it helps me shed off American-centric views. I come to appreciate the world more when I see how shitposting works in other countries, even if I don't understand them.

a new criterion of fluency: being able to write poetry in your target language.  i aspire to achieve this one day. being conversational is a different thing. possibly the most reasonable goal, but poetry is like another dimension of a language, and being able to create it.. aesthetics as hell. this is.. real, in theory. i have some poems in english and german. so why not in catalan? when i’m older, smarter and generally a better person.  it was poetry that got me in love with the language tbh.

I apologize, I didn't mean to sound bitchy. Being 15-16 years old really isn't an excuse, I wasn't xenophobic (thank you for correcting me) or sexist at that age, I knew what was wrong and what was right and I still think the way I did then. I believe he most likely hasn't changed at all because racist (xenophobic in this case) opinions tend to stick and although he might be more lowkey with his opinions he probably still thinks the same.

I agree with you, I wasn't xenophobic or sexist at that age either, maybe not as educated about these matters but I definitely never had such views. About his xenophobia if you aren't from Spain you wouldn't understand how common it is to see hate against Catalans and Basques and viceversa, which is merely based on politics, especially in the southern regions like Andalucía so his views could be really influenced by his surroundings, I'm not defending him I'm just saying it's way more common than you think. And about such opinions sticking through time I don't know what to think, sometimes when you mature you view the world with different eyes, it would be disturbing if he had said this as a fully grown man but judging an entire person based on some shitposting he did on Twitter when he was young is going a bit far in my opinion. I do understand why you would dislike him though and I understand the polemic about his Tweets because he did go too far on some things he said, I really am not trying to change your opinion on him.
