I have been drawing. a whole hell of a lot lately, and ive been doing pages like this in an effort to practice being less precious with my art. I have a bad habit of trying to make everything I draw be a big thing, so ive been using these pages to whip out ideas/concepts quicker, fill space and practice, and to get a feel for the characters themselves

some explanations/context under the cut if anybody wants to know what's going on here-

page 1-

this page was slapping together some random ideas, and some practice for how I draw Cardassians. we have-

two different headshots of Doctor Ellok

a reference of Ellok's eye

a reference of Keyara's eyes

Larro with a different hairstyle- im toying with the idea of her chopping her hair at some point and wanted to get down the idea in my head on paper

the hands holding pinkies are Ellok and Keyara's hands

Mamotha, bandages over her eyes, kissing Quincey. this is a very specific scene that I was thinking about a lot at the time of doing this page

this page was to get down a vague episode concept in my head that revolves around Wilos. we have-

the bust of Wilos, mainly done to fill space and practice his face

Wilos in some sort of fight- fun fact this was the strongest visual in my head and was the reason I did this page

Ruven hugging Wilos, because I started thinking about their dynamic while I was doing this page and it made for good practice with drawing bodies interacting

At some point it got harder to NOT draw sonic than it is to draw him

I'm kinda torn on timothy getting a new prosthetic because, yeah, having two hands would be convenient and the circumstances are a bit different from when he got the hyperion hand BUT at the same time I feel like not replacing that hand is kinda healing for tim in a way?

He's spent the past decade in a body that's been changed so much to the point where it's not even his anymore, including his own DNA. I imagine that when he lost the hand he just felt detached, like he just lost something that wasn't even his own to begin with so who cares. Getting a new prosthetic would mean changing his body yet again and that would be hard to accept

I've been wanting to go back to my eva comes back from the dead fic idea for ages but I could not for the life of me figure out what her attitude to vergil would be

and then today it finally hit me that I think she WOULD forgive vergil for everything as long as he gave some indication that he repented and was willing to change

because, after all, this is the woman who loved, married, and had kids with sparda -- who "woke up to justice" but still committed god knows what manner/number/scope of horrific acts of mass slaughter, terror, and quasi-genocide on humanity

sure, in some ways it's easier with sparda because his redemption came two thousand years ago, but eva is a smart woman, she knows who and what sparda is (I headcanon that her clear-eyed view of sparda without any hint of hero worship is one of the reasons he falls in love with her in the first place)

so yeah, a woman who loves a devil so soaked in blood you could practically smell it still staining his hands can still love her son, too

which is not to say it would be easy. there would be anger, and grief, and eva blaming herself (did she raise him that badly? did she fail to impress upon him that sparda's greatest achievement was his turning on mundus?), eva blaming sparda for leaving them without him, more anger, more grief -- but in the end vergil is her son and she would always be waiting for his redemption, certain it would come in the end

Another one down, two more to go. Today wasn't a great hand day but I still had fun inking even if I can tell it's less nice than before and it was a little uncomfy.

Also last night was the last of my current pottery classes! Got the glaze on my little guys(babies first pottery). I am excited to see how they turn out once fired. (two didn't make it I guess which is fine. The bottom left was my first attempt at a plate/working with softer clay... didn't go well lmao, I'm surprised it made it!)

I really hemmed and hawed over the design of this cover. I actually came up with this version pretty early on but wasn't confident that it worked even though it interested me the most. Luckily my friends talked me into it i think. Its a bit out there for this comic but I like how it turned out aaahah!

These are the title-less, inks, and layout versions above along with a closer shot of the trio cause I think they turned out really well.
