the bunnies are symbolic of Wei Wuxian to Lan Wangji. He likes them because he likes Wei Ying, and he likes that Wei Ying gave him a gift. There's an extra in the audio drama where the two rabbits mirror Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji's personalities (one loud and social, the other quiet and possessive), but in the book the bunnies main characteristics are "gifted by wwx" and "gay sex".

The bunnies are symbolic of Wei Wuxian, and at most of Wangxian as a couple. Lan Wangji is not, alone, symbolized by a rabbit.

There IS however an animal in this story that I would argue better symbolizes Lan Wangji. A stubborn, judgy, proud animal who Wei Wuxian adores even when no one else does, who refuses to follow orders (and who Wei Wuxian is delighted to ride).

What I'm saying is: Lan Wangji is an ass
