GUYS STORY IDEA
So I was struck by the thought of how Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj basically never KNEW his parents, like Saibai died before he could form memories of her, and Shivaji Maharaj was always busy and could've been barely able to give his child the time he needed-
SO STORY IDEA IS
After dying, Sambhaji Maharaj goes into the body of his teenage self, and actually ends up in not his own time, but back when his father was a teenager. DON'T KNOW MUCH ABT THIS BUT ITS BASICALLY HIM SEEING HIS DAD AND JS KINDA CHANGING THE TIMELINE A BIT IDK HOW BUT ITS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT
BUT OMG
SAMBHAJI GETS TO SEE HIS MOM
@zeherili-ankhein make Sambhaji and Saibai fanart PLS
ALSO ALSO EVEN IF I DONT, IM PREPARING THE DRAFT FOR A STORY ON SAIBAI, WILL TAG YALL WHEN I POST IT
Tags for reach, tell me what yall think : @zeherili-ankhein @ahamasmiyodhah @theramblergal @ishaaron-ishaaron-me @krsnaradhika @desigurlie @tehmam @prettykittytanjiro @rhysaka @hum-suffer

I watched Chhaava today, and now, as I sit with my thoughts, I don’t even know where to begin. My mind feels full yet strangely empty, as if all I can do is replay the scenes over and over, the sound of clashing swords, the thunder of hooves, the fire in the eyes of warriors who refused to back down, even when faced with certain death. Bravery isn’t just a word to describe them; it was the very essence of their being.
Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and the Maratha Mawale weren’t just fighting for themselves. They weren’t fighting for personal gain, for wealth, for glory. They fought for something far greater, they fought for Swarajya. For freedom. For a land where people could live with dignity, without the fear of tyranny crushing them under its weight. They fought not just for their present, but for a future they might never see, a future where their people could stand tall, unchained. And that, I realize, is a rare kind of selflessness. It’s one thing to protect your family, your own flesh and blood, but to lay down your life for people who share nothing with you except the land you stand on, that is something divine.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj were more than kings. They were visionaries, warriors who led not just with swords but with wisdom, with ideals far ahead of their time. They believed in secularism when the world was divided by religion. They upheld respect for women when many saw them as mere pawns in the game of power. They ruled not just with strength, but with a sense of duty that never wavered.
Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is known to have never lost a single battle. His battle intelligence, his understanding of warfare, and the strategic brilliance of the Marathas seem almost unimaginable. Their tactics weren’t just about brute strength; they were calculated, refined, executed with precision. And what makes it even more remarkable is that they lived in a time where there were no cell phones, no advanced communication systems, no technological means to pass on war strategies instantly. Yet, despite these challenges, he managed to win every single battle he fought. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a lion, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, his Chhaava - and that can be truly seen in the movie. Their valor is absolutely unwavering. That is something truly awe-inspiring, something to learn from, not just as a lesson in warfare, but as a lesson in resilience, in adaptability, in the sheer power of the human mind when driven by purpose.
One of the dialogues I really loved was—"Inke shabda ichchadhari hathyar hai, kabhi teer ban jaate hain, kabhi talwar." It speaks of Kavi Kalash and his poetry, and it struck something deep within me. As someone who writes poetry, I felt an unspoken connection to those words. The idea that poetry can be both an arrow and a sword, both subtle and sharp, resonated with me in a way I can’t quite explain. Poetry has power, the power to move, to inspire, to ignite revolutions.
And yet, what strikes me the most is how people today worship these great figures, call them gods, but fail to follow the path they laid out. The fire of inspiration burns bright in the aftermath of a movie like this—people leave the theater with pride in their eyes, speaking of bravery, of righteousness, of honor. But how long does it last? A few days? A week? And then life goes on, unchanged. They revere their idols, but forget to live by their principles.
I can’t stop thinking about this. I don’t want this feeling to fade. I don’t want to be someone who watches, admires, and then forgets. I want to learn more, to truly understand who Shivaji Maharaj and Sambhaji Maharaj were - not just the warriors, but the men, the minds, the leaders. Because if their legacy has taught me anything, it’s that history isn’t meant to be worshipped from a distance. It’s meant to be carried forward. And maybe, just maybe, I can be a small part of that.
The movie leaves a profound impact on whoever watches it. It doesn’t just tell a story; it reminds us of the ideals that built a nation, of the sacrifices that shaped history. And if we truly listen, truly learn, maybe we can keep that spirit alive - not just in words, but in actions.

NOTE: CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR CHHAAVA.
So guys, I did it. I watched Chhaava today. It was pretty impromptu, I mean, we decided today itself to watch it, we as in, me and my parents.
The film was really, really nice. The main characters look great as I expected, especially Sambhaji Maharaj and Aurangzeb. Side characters like Hambirrao Mohite, Kavi Kalash etc. looked good too. I didn't expect to find Rashmika's performance to be decent, but it felt kinda nice to me. Not excellent, but not bad to harm the film in any way. Her character seemed very sweet to me, but pls, someone explain to me what was the 'Shri-Sakhi' thing.
There is this part where Sambhaji Maharaj misses his mother, and Yesubai says that in next life, she wants to be his mother so that she can give him all the love of a mother, which I found kinda weird since she is his wife, T-T. I think instead of that dialogue, they should've showed her wishing that in next life, he would have the company and love of his mother.
The action sequences were top notch, and the second half of the film, like the Sangameshwar fight, plus ofc, the climax, were VERY nicely done and tear-jerking. Also the scene where Maharaj saves a child mid-fight is soooo sweet. And him freezing when he sees the child being held by his mother, with so much love, while he stares at them with a mix of longing, desperation and pain was js-
Absolutely love, love, LOVE how they did not try to change/whitewash things. They showed legit everything, including the nail removal, blinding and tongue removal of Maharaj. It made me cry. Vicky Kaushal looks so, so, SOOOOO damn good in this film, I js hope that man wins a National Award for this.
Personally, I really, REALLY wanted some sort of cameo for Saibai, since she is my absolute fav and a certified pookie. Her absence in Sambhaji Maharaj's life is really important, seeing how things turned out for him.
And there are these parts in the film, where baby Sambhaji calls out for his mother, for help or to ask something, but instead, it is his father who responds, not his mother. I think the symbolism here is meant that in his vulnerable moments, when he needs help, Sambhaji is seeking out his mother, hence he takes the form of a child. BUT she never responds, since Sambhaji does not remember her. Saibai died when he was just 2, so ofc, he would not remember her in anyway. Instead, Shivaji, the parent who WAS there for him, responds.
And in the end, as he dies, he calls out for her, and she responds. That was so beautiful.

Read a history book or Article rather being a blind radical.
1. Shambhaji allied with the Mughals (not shown in the movie),
2. primarily remembered for his affronts to the chaste virtue of brahmin women. Shibaji imprisoned him for this (not shown in the movie).
3. Used drugs (not shown in the movie).
4. Had association with Tantric priests of questionable integrity (not shown in the movie).
5. Maratha empire was built on blood. They used to plunder and collect taxes, murdered and raped other regions of India. Heard about Borgi? They were that.
Just because he was a Hindu king, doesn't make him great. Go read a book.
P.s. Read the treaty of purandar, 1665. Check who said this: I have come as a guilty slave to seek forgiveness, and it is for you to pardon or kill me at your pleasure.
Have guts then post this anon. Peace. ✌🏽
I'm a Hindu, and mythology buff for your record.
Did you not understand my point? The movie wasn't 100% accurate because it was based on a novel. Or did you not hear it at the starting of the movie.
Blaming the movie for some people going around dumbly trying to find “Mughalo ka Khazana” is the most stupidest thing you can do. Blame the illiteracy and sheer idiocy of people instead maybe?
I'm not trying to justify the movie (if there's anything to justify about) but your point really doesn't makes any sense to me
1. Shambhaji allied with the Mughals (not shown in the movie),
He allied with Diler Khan while he was mostly at the age of 21. The movie shows only the 9 years of his reign as Chhatrapati, he had became the king while he was maybe around 24.
Am I saying he didn't allied? No. But if you want everything to be in that movie. You won't get it.
2. primarily remembered for his affronts to the chaste virtue of brahmin women. Shibaji imprisoned him for this (not shown in the movie).
There were speculations about why Shambhaji was imprisoned by his father or if hw ever was imprisoned. From what I heard sometimes its also said because he was accused of plotting against Shivaji.
3. Used drugs (not shown in the movie).
Speculated and were proven false too accordance to what I have learned
4. Had association with Tantric priests of questionable integrity (not shown in the movie).
Again I am not sure how legitimate this is because I have seen people debunk this.
5. Maratha empire was built on blood. They used to plunder and collect taxes, murdered and raped other regions of India. Heard about Borgi? They were that.
OFCOURSE I have heard about Borgi. I am from Bengal, which was literally the main target of the Borgi plunders. The word itself came from the Marathi word Barchi. If you want to talk about this subject make different asks.
All the empires had goods and bads. Do I deny them and say the Maratha empire was all doodh ka dhula hua and never did anything wrong? No they had done several things wrong. But is it worth hating? In my personal opinion not. But hey you are welcome to do anything you want
Facts for you, I myself used to hate on the Marathas for a period of time in the past. (I still hate Raghuji Bhosle)
As for the movie. Again it was literally based on NOVEL. A NOVEL BY SHIVAJI SAWANT. IT WAS NOT LEGITIMATE HISTORY.
The Novel was ofcourse written in favour of the Marathas. Bruh thats obvious.
Also wasn't Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj forced to sign the Treaty of Purandar?? Because Jai Singh had besieged Purandar Fort???
Ok I am posting this anon as you asked now hisab barabar ig... 🤷♀️
Also I will ask the entire desiblr and who all are good at Maratha history to fact check if anything is wrong or write in this for me please
And sorry if I made any mistakes.
But my point still stands there's no point in blaming the movie untill it was said by the director itself it was historically accurate. Which is NOT.
#chhava#controversy anon#you are actually interesting lol i like fighting with people online#i just hope you are not that veg anon or I'll hate you#also borgi is a whole different subject for which yeah I agree the marathas deserve all the blame#desiblr#desi tumblr#maratha history#maratha empire#chhatrapatishivajimaharaj#chhatrapati sambhaji maharaj
