I love how despite taking place directly after Crash 3 and possibly ousting all the games after from the timeline, the true ending of Crash 4 decides to re-canonize a bunch of characters anyway.
Tumblr media
The elephant in the room here is Nina, who is seen in Coco's ending, but they also decided to throw in the commentators Chick Gizzard Lips and Stew from Crash Tag Team Racing for some reason. Good for them.

The odd mutants out: Crash series headcanons
Pasadena O'Possum: Some idiots took a wild possum as a pet. Then, they used a black market Evolvo ray in an attempt to make their pet more manageable. A terrible idea. Abandoned by her owners-turned-parents, she roamed the streets and roads until meeting Ebenezer Von Clutch
Yaya Panda: Created by an ecologically minded mad scientist who was attempting to mutate individuals endangered species into mascots for the purpose of raising funding, or increase their chances of surviving in the wild. Needless to say, that scientist is now in hiding. Yaya was genetically engineered to be as marketable as possible.
Chick and Stew: Attempts to create news commentators that work “for chicken feed”. They escaped their creators after an attempt to create an elephant mutant that “works for peanuts” resulted in a terrible disaster with a very high body-count.

PEMDAS - Special Year-End Edition - Albums
I love end of year lists because I like consensus, rankings and numbers. But consensus is all based on who gets to rank, and the people who get the most access to major publication rankings are white men, so the numbers are tainted by white supremacy, misogyny, and many other forms of bigotry.
Which makes it even more interesting to see what gets ranked where.
Here’s a Google Sheet I made of all the lists and I created a formula that basically measures how many times an album placed on a list as well as how high it placed on that list. I’m going to keep updating this list as it’s not done, but it’s fun to play around with right now!
According to my formula and the critics, the top 10 albums of 2020 (in order) are:
Tumblr media
#1: Fetch the Bolt Cutters •• Fiona Apple
Tumblr media
#2: RTJ4 •• Run the Jewels
Tumblr media
#3: folklore •• Taylor Swift
Tumblr media
#4: Future Nostalgia •• Dua Lipa
Tumblr media
#5: Punisher •• Phoebe Bridgers
Tumblr media
#6: Set My Heart on Fire Immediately •• Perfume Genius
Tumblr media
#7: Saint Cloud •• Waxahatchee
Tumblr media
#8: Heaven to a Tortured Mind •• Yves Tumor
Tumblr media
#9: Women in Music Pt. III •• HAIM
Tumblr media
#10: Rough and Rowdy Ways •• Bob Dylan
I also have a fun, unranked albums list brewing. I’ll release that at the very end of the year.

Due to not owning a PS4 nor Xbox One, I watched an entire walkthrough of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, so I made these headcanons to share, I arranged them chronologically:
----
Crash Bandicoot's Flashback Tapes took place as a prequel to the first Crash Bandicoot game, while Coco's tapes took place as both the prequel and midquel to the first game as well.
After Coco's last Flashback Tape where she was going to make her escape, she was caught by Lab Assistants before she was given intelligence through the Vortex by Dr. Cortex and N. Brio, before tricking them in thinking she's a failure by acting stupid, locking her into the dungeons to meet Yaya Panda, Pasadena O'Possum, Isabella, Liz, Ami, Megumi, Farmer Ernest, Chick Gizzard Lips, and Stew, and later made their escape from Cortex Castle to find Crash Bandicoot.
*Inspired by Zerbear333's Coco Bandicoot Origin fan comic*
-
22 years later only occurs to Cortex, N. Tropy, and Uka Uka when they were banished to the past, which the former two were aged back to their original ages in a fast rate. Back in Crash's world, only a few months have passed.
-
Upon learning Cortex and N. Tropy returned, N. Gin convince N. Brio to join them into their inter-dimentional domination, at first Brio refused because Cortex fired him and later got revenge on him, but later changed his mind decided to join in. Meanwhile N. Gin and N. Brio were unable to contact the mutant henchmen to join them.
-
Around the time of Dingodile's retirement and owning a dinar, Tiny, Ripper Roo *Who owns a Curious Cabinet of Curiosity*, Kong, Pinstripe, Moe & Joe lived their own lives too during Cortex's absence.
-
Coco's quote when she and Crash met Tawna from another universe for the first time saying "Wait Tawna? But you're... Different!", she almost said that Tawna from the main universe was dating Pinstripe, which is why they lost touch with her. Plus I don't want the main universe Tawna killed off, because it would ruin the series since she is alive in the games that took place after Crash 4 such as Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled *Remake of Crash Team Racing with Nitro Kart content*, a deleted scene from Crash Twinsanity where she was dating Dingodile, and Crash Boom Bang.

Nitros Oxide's ex-wife is named Tossica, here is more information about her as well as what she looks like: https://chelseacatgirl.tumblr.com/post/631662468653105153/in-crash-bandicoot-4-its-about-time-nitros
-
In this particular scene from the 106% ending of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, N. Brio in pterodactyl form is just trapped in display in Ripper Roo's Curious Cabinet of Curiosity, because killing him off would ruin the series because this chronologically took place before CTR *In CTRNF he's still alive* because in Crash Bash onwards, like Twinsanity and CMOM, and Crash on the Run, he's still alive. https://mobile.twitter.com/chelseacatgirl/status/1313047402652209153
-
After Dingo's Dinar kept getting closed several times due to unsanitary food Dingodile cooks, Dingodile would later serve normal foods at the dinar.
-
This particular shot from the 106% ending of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time actually took place after the events of Crash on the Run, all because after Cortex was defeated by Crash and Coco, he got banished into another world by the Quantum Masks, also Nina won't appear until Crash Twinsanity chronologically 3 years later. https://mobile.twitter.com/chelseacatgirl/status/1312912966027599872
-----
And a little bonus, I hope the future follow-up to Crash 4 *Which will be highly likely due to the secret ending* has Tiny Tiger, Ripper Roo, Koala Kong, Pinstripe Potoroo, and the Komodo Brothers rather than cameos AND an ending that leads to Crash Team Racing.
Also because there was confirmation that all Crash Bandicoot games are canon: https://youtu.be/WRTln1VqSHU

The Secretarybird is known from a variety of arid (re: non-dense tropical rainforests) across sub-Saharan Africa
Tumblr media
Physical Description: Secretarybirds are among the most visually distinctive of living dinosaurs, and one of the species usually pointed to by people attempting to prove the dinosaur nature of birds via visual evidence. These are large raptors, with extremely long and thin legs like those of storks. They have sharp talons on their feet, and they are truly living the “Velociraptor is my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great auntie and I’m here to kick your ass” life.
They still have the ability to fly, with large wings and elongated bodies - including long, stiffened tail feathers just to add to the whole “wait if I squint maybe it has a bony tail like a Velociraptor” appearance it has going on. It has a medium-length neck, with a small head and a distinctive crest of thin feathers off the back of its head. It also has a downward-curved, sharp beak.
Tumblr media
By Lip Kee Yap, CC BY-SA 2.0
In terms of color, the Secretarybirds have orange patches over their eyes, and mainly white heads besides; the ends of their crest feathers are black. Their leg feathers are black too, as are some of their rump feathers, the tips of their wings, their backs, and the ends of their tails. The males and females look roughly the same, with the females somewhat smaller than the males. In general, they range between 125 and 150 centimeters in length. Juveniles are very similar to the adults, but with shorter crests and tails. In short, these are raptors that aren’t actually mistaken for other raptors - but might be mistaken for cranes!
The Secretarybird is interesting on the inside as well - it has a very short digestive tract, and a foregut highly specialized for digesting large quantities of meat very quickly. They don’t have a muscular gizzard like other birds, and they don’t have any fermentation agents since they don’t eat plants at all!
Tumblr media
By Biran Ralphs, CC BY 2.0
Diet: Though it can fly, the Secretarybird does the entirety of its hunting on the ground, stalking through the grass to catch a variety of meat prey including mammals as big as mongooses, lizards, snakes, tortoises, other birds, eggs, crabs, and insects. They do kill even bigger mammals like young gazelles and cheetah cubs. In short, they’re making their ancestors proud.
Behavior: Secretarybirds have a lot of very distinctive behaviors that make them iconic, bird-wise, among the masses. Most especially, they engage in very fast kicking with their long legs in order to grab prey - evoking images of dinosaurs gone by. These kicks are fast, powerful, and terrifying - and then on top of that insanity, they swallow their food whole with their large, gaping beaks! To get their food out of hiding, they even stomp incessantly on the ground in order to flush it out. They usually only tear up their food with their toes while holding it down, not bothering to chop it up with their beaks. Sometimes they’ll even jump down onto food, using a little bit of raptor-prey-restraint or lift with their wings to get the jump on their prey. These birds usually hunt alone, or with their mate nearby.
youtube
These birds do not migrate much, but they can be nomadic in response to rainfall and fires. The juveniles especially travel far in search of areas unoccupied by mated pairs. They make high pitched, “ko-ko-ko-ko-ko-ka” calls to one another, in addition to more “kowaaaaaaa kowaaaaaaaa” and “kurrk-urr-kurrk-urr” calls back and forth. They aren’t actually that good at running, despite their long legs - they instead are really only good for the stomp-strike they use for hunting.
Tumblr media

These birds form monogamous pairs, that stay together for most of their lives. They have an elaborate courtship display for one another that involves soaring high and flying in an undulated fashion around each other, and croaking at each other. Sometimes they also will court each other on the ground, chasing each other with their wings up like how they chase prey. They will nest any time of the year, usually corresponding to abundance of food. They especially raise chicks in the rainy system. Their nests are made fairly high up in Acacia trees, made out of sticks with dense grass and wool lining, usually made in the shape of a saucer. THey lay between 1 and 3 eggs in a nest, which are incubated by both parents for about a month and a half. The chicks are pale grey and fluffy with short, straight bills; they moult twice before reaching a juvenile plumage at six weeks. They are dependent on their parents for over three months; their parents will eat insects and then regurgitate them back into the young’s mouths. The parents teach their young how to hunt extensively, in order for them to be independent by the end of their rearing period.

Ecosystem: Secretarybirds live in steppes and savanna, especially enjoying short grasses with scattered trees for roosting and nesting. They rarely go anywhere with more trees. They can be found at a variety of elevations. Here they live with a wide variety of animals, especially venomous snakes, which they are famous for eating. However, their own young are fed upon by crows, ravens, hornbills, kites, and owls.
Other: Secretarybirds are considered vulnerable to extinction, mainly due to extensive habitat loss and rising CO2 levels. These birds are still widespread across Africa and are becoming adapted to more arid, desert-like habitats, but despite this common nature of the species they are still listed as vulnerable due to a recent rapid decline across the entirety of their range. They are a very revered bird in Africa, used as the emblem of Sudan and a motif on postage stamps - though they are also called the Devil’s Horse!

As to the peculiar name, some think it is because the crest feathers look like quill feathers for a pen, leading to the association with a secretary - but this hypothesis has fallen out of favor. Some may think it is a mishearing of the French “Saqr-et-tair”, aka, hunter bird. Either way, the quills also look like a quiver of arrows - and it is a skilled hunter - leading to its genus name being Sagittarius, aka, Archer!

Publisher Activision and developer Beenox have detailed the free seasonal post-launch content coming to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.
Get the trailer and details below, via the PlayStation Blog.
youtube
Grand Prix Content is not only new, but it’s also introduced by Chick and Stew
We know you’ve got questions, and luckily, we’ve got some answers. But first, let’s give a warm welcome to Chick Gizzard Lips and co-host Stew — ace rooster commentators for CTR TV, your Crash Team Racing news channel! Yes, the chicken reporters from Crash Tag Team Racing are back and settling into their new roles as hosts for each new season of content! Simply tune in to CTR TV through the game and listen to Chick and Stew introduce each Grand Prix, explaining all the different challenges and rewards you can win by simply participating!
We’ve Got Grand Plans for the Grand Prix
What is a Grand Prix in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, exactly? Think of it as a themed season, constructed around a newly-themed track with a number of different challenges to undertake. Finish a challenge, and you’re awarded Nitro Points (think of Nitro Points like Experience Points). Complete more challenges to continue to fill that Nitro up. When you’ve filled Nitro up to certain levels in your Nitro Gauge, rewards are earned. Examples include new characters, karts, skins, and kart customization items.
You’re easily able to see your Nitro Gauge in the game, which shows your progress, the items you’ve earned along the way, as well as the ones you’re still driving toward! Just keep playing the game to complete these challenges and fill the Nitro Gauge before the end of that Grand Prix to earn every challenge reward. Challenges include top speed, power slide, reverse, and other competitive challenges, and they vary from easy to quite hard, increasingly testing your skill as the season goes on.
If you reckon you’re the best Bandicoot in the racing business, it’s time to prove it: with global leaderboards for every Grand Prix Season, you can compete to be the best in the world and win special in-game reward items!
Redeem Those Wumpa Coins: Head to the Pit Stop
As well as completing Grand Prix challenges to earn Nitro Points, filling up the Nitro Gauge, and unlocking a specific set of rewards every season, you can also earn Wumpa Coins by participating in Grand Prix challenges too. As you learned a couple of weeks ago, as you gather these Wumpa Coins, you can redeem them in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled’s Pit Stop for even more items.
Speaking of the Pit Stop, we’re also excited to announce that during each Grand Prix a new set of items will be introduced to it, like even more characters, kart sets, wheels, paint jobs, decals, stickers, and skins. With this, players have the ability to redeem their Wumpa Coins to play as racers that go beyond the original CTR and to find many unique ways to customize their characters and karts.
Season 1: Time to Get Warped — Welcome to the Nitro Tour!
Now that we’ve laid the foundation for what the Grand Prix is, let’s dive into the first Grand Prix, set to launch on July 3! It’s called the Nitro Tour Grand Prix and features a track called “Twilight Tour”, which reimagines the Ancient Egypt and Arabian Town levels from Crash Bandicoot: Warped—so look for some familiar sights and sounds as you’re racing!
Season 1: Say Hello to Tawna Bandicoot and the Nitro Squad!
This one has been difficult to keep as a secret for so long! We’re excited to announce that as well as an enthralling new track to perfect in the first Grand Prix, players are also able to earn Tawna the Bandicoot as a playable character. Players are able to unlock Tawna by earning Nitro Points during the first Grand Prix, and are also able to earn an amazing new Motorsport Tawna skin which lets the world know that she means business!
In addition to Tawna, players will be re-introduced to Ami, Isabella, Megumi, and Liz. Together, they are now known as the Nitro Squad (formerly known as the Trophy Girls in the original Crash Team Racing), and are now characters that you can race with! They can be unlocked using Wumpa Coins in the Pit Stop during the first Grand Prix. These global bandicoots hail from all over the world, and are ready to compete! There will also be new Motorsport skins for them as well, to really show off their speed and style.
Season 1: More than Just New Characters
In addition to the new characters, you will see a bunch of other items that will be a part of the first Grand Prix, including international-themed items for players to show their national pride, new kart parts, and even the return of Le Chaux, the fan favorite kart from Crash Team Tag Racing!
In short, make sure that starting on July 3, you are beating challenges in the Nitro Tour Grand Prix to fill up your Nitro Gauge, keep earning those Wumpa Coins by playing any mode in the game, and make sure you are heading to the Pit Stop to see what’s new!
Looking to the Future
That’s a deep dive into the first Grand Prix season, but as teased today, this is only the beginning! We have some incredible Grand Prix seasons coming up, including one that revolves around everyone’s favorite purple dragon… (if that doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what will).
Here is an updated fact sheet for the game:

((Part 3! This time with the masks, trophy girls, and Motorworld staff.))
((Large wall of text incoming))
Masks
Aku Aku
Joe: Can come off as this righteous figure of virtue who speaks too much about being good and kind. He thinks it’s all false gospel, and that the witch doctor probably has done some wrong in the former past. At least Joe’s grateful to not be kicked from islands.
Moe: Thinks about how cool the feathered mask can float the ground. He even tells great stories about when he was alive many eons ago.
Uka Uka
Joe: A pain in the neck who’s even less bearable than his twin brother. Whenever he pops up during a race, Joe takes the opportunity to insult his inept behavior, and how he’ll never work for a manchild baby like him ever; especially when the mask has two scientists under his employment he dislikes. Cue the petty insults and death threats.
Moe: Is waiting for Joe to give him the signal to turn the angry mask into firewood.
Elementals (Rok-Ko, Wa-Wa, Py-Ro, Lo-Lo)
Joe: Has heard from Aku Aku how powerful they were, once being spiritual shamans like him who used their magic to wreck havoc across the world. Sure they might cause another apocalypse if released again, but they’re nothing he hasn’t dealt with before. Although, rumors spread about they are free, but now work for someone else. At least that’s what Joe got from some washed-out tourist down by the beach.
Moe: Their names sound like words he’s heard before.
Velo Mask
Joe: A flying mouthpiece.
Moe: Tries to catch it so he can use for Halloween.
Trophy Girls
Isabella
Joe: Figured that she’s friends with the bandicoots for being their trophy girl. Other than that, he doesn’t know what to think. Maybe she’s close friends with this Tawna character he’s barely known.
Moe: Has watched her in the show, Bay Waters. She’s probably the best part of it when considering the overall, “so bad, it’s good” quality of every episode.
Ami
Joe: Only knows her for handing out his trophy whenever he wins. Other than that, he doesn’t pay much attention to her. However, as soon as he heard she was getting into kart racing, Joe’s interest sparked. Seems like he’s got another upcoming rival who’s willing to make the tracks burn aflame.
Moe: Kind of reminds him of Joe with her fierce attitude and defiance. Wonders if she’s their lost long sister who became a bandicoot.
Liz
Joe: Must like cute animals if she’s the tiger and bear’s trophy girl. Now that she’s super rich, she must have bought some exotic pets to accommodate her lavish lifestyle. Maybe the bandicoots can hand over the two pests to her once they’ve fully grown.
Moe: Thinks she likes stuffed animals and owns a large collection of them.
Megumi
Joe: Is associated with Team Cortex, so that makes him automatically not like her that much. Also, her perfume makes him wanna choke the life out of random carnivorous plants.
Moe: Despite Joe’s opinion, Moe thinks she isn’t bad despite handing over trophies to the evil scientists.  She seems really smart, and he loves the perfume she made.
Motorworld Inhabitants
Ebeneezer Von Clutch
Joe: Never in a million years would he ever find someone who was a genuine fan of Dr. Lame-O Netflix. Guess that would explain why some of the attractions were barely functional.
Moe: These bionic produce are getting out of hand, now a lima bean has been brought to life through science and owns a large park. It seems the invasion has only just begun.
Pasadena O’Possum
Joe: Is impressed by this daredevil racer’s tricks when it came to burning rubber in the demolition arena. However, he soon realized she wasn’t the smartest when she mentioned about never seeing two walking gators around the park before. He’s still yet to determine where this possum fits on the stupid idiot scale.
Moe: An avid fan of hers. Has a couple of merchandise in his desk, along with an autographed photo shot.
Willie Wumpa Cheeks
Joe: Never thought he’d find fruit uglier and rotten as this former mascot, not to mention callous to the core. He and Moe have been hired once by Willie to assassinate Von Clutch for ruining his life. In return for killing his boss, the brothers would’ve gotten a power gem as a reward. However, they failed for whatever reasons, thus the partnership ended much like the bitter aftertaste of wumpa whip.
Moe: The dude scares him, so much that he hides behind Joe whenever he shows up. Also, the fruit beverage wasn’t that great to drink.
Chick Gizzard Lips & Stew
Joe: Their voices are grating and annoying. The one who changes hats often seems to like juvenile humor way too much.
Moe: Free chicken stew.
Bonus
Farmer Ernest
Joe: Has never seen him in person. The bird was most likely traumatized after Cortex shot him with his gun, forever locked up in his home in paranoia. Although, the fields are being taken care, so maybe he only comes out during nighttime.
Moe: Wait, they had a emu neighbor this entire time?
Bearminator
Joe: Apparently up in the North Pole, there lies a mutant polar bear who terrorizes nearby areas with mechanical bears. Likely will never come in contact with him, as the environment is much too cold for the lizard to bear.
Moe: It’s Polar’s papa!
Carbon Crash
Joe: Splendid, another dumb clone of Crash that’s just as braindead, except with leucism. How it never got eaten by any predators is beyond him.
Moe: Another cryptid he likes to look for just like Fake Crash.
