a rwby theory about the more unique grimm in salem army

I believe that every single one of these grimm was salem own attempt to permanently get rid of ozma (but obviously non of that worked)

Now obviously oz is not really easy to get rid off you can't destroy his soul with raw physical force he will just go to a new vessel

And trapping him in some sort of cell for any lengthy period of time is a fools errand for multiple reasons namely

Weakened or not oz is still one of the most powerful entities in the planet there is not a cell in existence that Salem can make that will keep him locked up for any significant lengths of time

Even if she by some miracle makes a cell he can't escape he can always just end his current life and go somewhere else

So salem had to get creative and she obviously never had the privilege of jinn or any of the resources oz has so she just did what she does best and used the grimm

Let's start with the obvious example

The apathy

Oh oz keeps breaking out of his cell?

Good luck escaping with your willpower getting sapped away

But this obviously didn't work because apathy even in bulk took awhile to have an effect on huntman having a crisis of faith on someone like oz it's a mild irritation

Especially earlier on when he had more hope

And even if it does work he'd just starve to death

Now im grouping the chill and Geists because i believe these two are part of the same "product line" of grimm so to speak with their similar abilities of possession

I believe the Geists are the prototype to the chill being able to possess non living objects such as rocks dust or trees very useful but obviously they can't do junk to oz since they can't effect living entities

The chill is the "definitive" version of the Geists losing the raw power from the ability to control objects in exchange for being able to possess living entities

But they failed as well since while it's never showcased in the main show as the chill never makes an appearance in the main continuity outside the fairytale it does make an appearance in the dc comics where it gets overpowered by love

Seeing as there is no reason for it to not be the case in canon i think it's fair to presume it still has that weakness

The nightmare definitely one of the more obvious ones here oz can't really fight his way out of her dungeon or end his life if he's asleep right?

Somewhat wrong

This is definitely one of the ones that could work but there are a few variables during ice queendom team RBY and jaune are able to enter weiss dream and fight the nightmare so it's not out of the question oz host or oz himself could also fight and eject the nightmare

And there is a trend with grimm that effect the mind thats says they can be fought off with raw will so this might apply for the nightmare to

There is also the possibility there is nothing to be done about the aura drain part which would just kill oz allowing him to escape to another host

And now finally

The beetle

Okay now hear me out

I know the beetle is a bit of a weirder choice since it's used for the maidens but it did split amber soul so it appears to have soul sucking abilities

Soul sucking abilities that could possibly be used to rip oz out of his body and either put him inside a person of her choice to serve as a container or maybe even absorb him to use as a tool

Now it's purely theoretical since there is no evidence to suggest that incapacitating oz was the beetle original purpose but we can still draw some hypothetical conclusions on why it won't work and why we don't see salem use this even when she had oscar at her non existent mercy

During volume 5 and 6 we see that oz can and will take control of his host if he feels the need to so sticking him in the body of an underling might just end badly since she's potentially giving oz an even stronger body to fight his way out with

And trying to absorb him herself is way to risky since she's risking him assimilating her which would be bad for more reasons then i can be bothered to list

So thoughts on this idea?

Things ain’t looking hot in the Fantasy Mythical Monster Eldritch AU, I tell ya what–

What started off with a simple sketch of Vlad, as it has been YEARS since I last drew him (and because of a discussion I was having with @strike-em-down on Grimm FC fan art (which there is a lack of and needs to be fixed)), turned into drawing him with more vampire qualities and drawing Oliver as a Celestial Moon Being from space. There are ideas bouncing around in my head, but this isn’t an AU I would focus on too much. But it’s an idea if anyone wants to add more to it.

While Oliver’s hair was a pain to figure out, I’m happy how it came out especially with the bit of smudging I did as I didn’t have any coloring pencils on hand.

basically they kissed at the end of a really charged emotional scene and then pulled back and were like Ew Ew Ew Ew Ew That Was Gross And Weird And Wrong . so . yeah . it was super jarring but ive come to terms with it by now

charlotte nicdao has talked about it in a couple interviews and my fears have been mostly relieved ? heres a couple screenshots for everyone else too

the main reason for ironwood's rush to rise atlas higher and out of reach even at the cost of not being able to evacuate absolutely everyone, was salem's imminent arrival, right? anything to ensure the staff would not fall in salem's hands and to buy some time to think a better plan.

so what i don't get it is that, once salem—and monstra, and literally every single other grimm in the vicinity of atlas bc you sure as hell can't see any of them post-blast—went kaput, why not... slow down? like the reason to rush is gone, and even if that's temporary in salem's case, the grimm ain't sprouting back up again. unless salem is—unnecessarily—holding back in major way, there's no reason for anyone to think she could cause massive damage to atlas and mantle in short period of time to not risk taking a pause and breathe.

it just feels very clunky writing; why remove one apocalyptic threat (salem) just to replace it with another (ironwood threatening to bomb mantle)? why not change gear, let all the people opposing salem—i.e. team rwby & co + ironwood & co—actually talk, rethink the situation, and see if they can find a common ground and come up with a new plan. it doesn't even need to be successful, but an attempt would have been nice.

like why destroy salem in the first place? what purpose does knowing about the long memory being a pocket nuke serve at this point in time, especially if it's used up already? why hold salem back from destroying atlas / mantle if she's going to destroy vale off-screen anyway?

Rwby's biggest sin (outside of its infinity gauntlet of bigotry) is by and large its incuriosity

The story presents so many amazing concepts only to explore exactly none of them. Systemic injustice and the many ways to combat it, societies that live alongside man-eating monsters drawn to negative emotions, whether or not someone's unique ability reflects them as a person, four kingdoms with a long and bloody history needing to come together to deal with an apocalyptic threat, so on and so forth

That's a major factor in why people keep coming back to rwby, why its most consistent criticism is "wasted potential", why this show garners so much attention for better or worse

The audience is curious and the writers are not ¯\_(:/)_/¯

Blake's 7 - 4.13 Blake

Technically, the episode is a very, very good one. Hell, I wouldn't wish for a different finale, to be honest. It's perfect, in its own "What the actual hell!?" way, and it does wonders for the show's themes of doomed struggle. The problem with it is that it was intended to be just a *series* finale, not the *show's* finale, so it ends on an extremely high-stakes cliffhanger. It's fantastic, it's scary, it's heartbreaking, you want more, you want to see it resolved... and the show was cancelled after the fourth series. So all we have is an extremely bleak ending with all but one character presumed dead and that damned last smile in the face of overwhelming odds in a completely hopeless situation.

Castle Rock (2018) - 1.10 Romans

When this show was coming out I was still deep in my Stephen King hyperfixation so needless to say I was *stoked*. But man this was one of the most underwhelming things I've watched. With episodes released weekly we had two months of people going insane with theories, new revelations, Stephen King fans digging up their old books to pick for scraps of hints that could explain what's going on, every week there were new video essays and analyses of the new episode, subreddit buzzing with the wildest theories about who is this mysterious character of The Kid who's kicked the whole plot in motion and what the hell is going on with the seemingly cursed town. And then the finale came and just. Nothing. Everything went back to square one. The Kid is locked back up in the same cage he was originally found in. Nothing was explained. Everyone moves on as if nothing happened. After two months of Castle Rock being the main focus of all of my free time this completely took the wind out of my sails and I completely lost interest in the show and honestly, soon almost forgot it even existed. When the second season came out I didn't watch even the first episode, even though the second season *might* have explained everything, I simply didn't care enough to find out anymore. And from what I've seen, others have felt the same way because since the first season ended I haven't really seen anyone talk about the show.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina - 4.08 Chapter Thirty-Six: At The Mountains of Madness

Ok so in fairness this entire final season sucked but the real kicker is that in the final scene we learn that after the main character died, her love interest killed himself in order to be with her in the afterlife. Yeah, a teenager committed suicide and we were supposed to see that as a happy ending.

Choukou Senshi Changerion - 1.39 Over the Times...

It's the last episode, which means no new information or worlds should be introduced, right? WRONG. Inoue (the main writer) decided that, for this last episode, we should see into an alternate (maybe, perhaps) timeline alongside the regular content. The bad guys are coming, except our main guy is starting to go down and remembering all the things that have happened, as well. And then it just ends. On an explosion, of course. Roll Credits!

The Get Down - 5.11 Only from Exile Can We Come Home

rushed to complete the show and low on budget, the writers sent every character besides the protagonist (zeke) to their worst possible fate. shao, finally free and with the person he loved, was coerced to return to the sexually abusive woman who had been his boss since he was a child. dizzee is implied to have been struck by a train after breaking his boyfriend out of prison for graffiti. and boo-boo, the 14 year old, is arrested for selling drugs. in some ways its thematically appropriate, but the unrelenting viciousness of the end of each character's story is sudden, deeply tonally jarring, and leaves the audience feeling despondent and hopeless even with the main character surviving to sing it all as an adult and his love interest finding success as a singer, albeit far away in another city. tgd is an excellent show, but besides being cancelled, the big kicker for it was that the romantic lead mylene didn't hit for a lot of people, and watchers who preferred shao and zeke to get together due to having such strong chemistry and a well-developed bond probably had a very different experience than the writers had intended. mylene is a fine character and she's unfairly disliked by a lot of watchers, but her romance with zeke was simply not as well developed as shao's and zeke's relationship was

Grimm - 3.22 Blond Ambition

It forgoes the usual: 'there is a scary wesen that is causing problems and we can solve this' formula to pay off other plot points, but it kinda makes the episode feel less tethered. The focus is a wedding between supporting characters, whilst a former finale villain is just stalking around town and also a (corrupt) FBI agent is preparing to make his move. Both make their moves and the results are kinda lame. The agent is almost immediately beheaded rendering his active threat moot. And the other villain disguised herself as the MC's girlfriend and sleeps with him. The only major points are the wedding, a police captain getting shot (glossed over here but become relevant next season), the FBI agent dying (it starts a dull investigation next season), and the MC losing his power right at the end (which led to one of the worst periods in the show until he regains his powers...)
