Donald Trump's finances have always been somewhat of a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Besides his near-pathological refusal to disclose his financial records (like his tax returns), he constantly lies about his wealth, his assets and every aspect of his business. It was, of course, this ceaseless duplicity that resulted in the recent civil judgment against him to the tune of $454,156,783 for fraudulent business practices (i.e., literally keeping three sets of books).

This comes on top of the $83.3 million he was recently ordered to pay for defaming writer E. Jean Carroll, whom he raped decades ago. A penalty that was added to the $5 million he was originally fined in her first defamation suit. All of which comes to just north of half a billion bucks. Plus, there's also a post-judgment interest charge of 9% every day he doesn't cough up his fine for fraud.

So how can Trump lay his tiny hands on such massive amounts? Especially since he's banned from borrowing from New York banks — and with his reputation for stiffing creditors, it's hard to imagine any other bank lending him the dough. Will he be forced to put some Trump Organization assets on the block? Will he sell his interest in his struggling social media platform? The government still hasn't retrieved all the national security documents he stole. Will he sell them to some foreign country (maybe one that begins with R)?

Forbes estimates Trump's net worth at $2.6 billion, mostly real estate, including roughly $600 million in personal assets, like his homes, private jet and some $350 million in cash. However, he also has enormous other debts. He finally paid off the $295 million he owed Deutsche Bank, but all his properties are still mortgaged to the hilt. In fact, Trump's business carries debts totaling an estimated $1.1 billion that will begin coming due in 2028.

It's not like his campaign PACs can pay off his judgments, (that's illegal). And his Save America PAC is being drained to pay some $50 million in fees to his lawyers. Nor is it possible — although he's trying — to squeeze that much cash out of his MAGA worshippers. Nor can he raise enough selling tacky, China-made golden sneakers for $399 a pair (you can get them from Temu for $17.81).

Trumpty Dumpty may not end up destitute, but if he doesn't pony up, he may still have a great fall. Because New York AG Letitia James says she'll have all the king's men seize his assets.
