You weren't scared to tell James your parents wanted you at theirs' for Christmas, you were scared of the way he'd feel about it. You always do Christmas Eve at your parent's house, and Christmas day at his.

Usually, if this were to happen with any other guy you'd just say fuck it and stay home for Christmas, but not James. James practically worships his parents.

"Guess what, mi amor!" James shouts as he walks into your flat, dropping off large brown bags in the kitchen.

"Hm?" You hum back.

"San Nicolas is coming soon! Snow is pounding down outside, look!" James says, boyishly.

"I actually have to talk to you about that, James."

His eyes brighten as he sets the milk gallon in the refrigerator. "Mami is making that pozole that you liked for Christmas dinner, I've been craving her cooking so bad lately." James says, moving his hands and arms around as he always does to express his language easier. Your heart cracks a little, you both haven't seen Fleamont or Euphemia in over 3 months, and for the Mama's boy, you know it's difficult.

"James, I can't be at your mom's Christmas dinner." You say, a frown on your face. His shoulders drop, his smile fading.

"What, why?" He practically whines.

"I'm sorry, Jamie, my parents want me home this year, you know my grandpa is sick."

"Yes! But-." James stops himself and rubs his eyes under his glasses.

"You can still go! I just won't be there." You try to bargain, but James shakes his head immediately.

"No! I don't want to be without you on a day that's supposed to be filled with happiness." He almost pouts.

"James, I don't want you to miss out on seeing your parents. Please, please go on and stay with your mum and dad on Christmas."

"¡No! Es contigo con quien quiero estar en Navidad. Por favor, ¿por qué no podemos hacerlo como lo hacemos normalmente?" James exclaims.

"I'm gonna go in the other room and let you take a breath, when you can speak to me maturely, come on in." You sigh, standing and walking into your bedroom.

Of course, you want to be with James and his lovely family on Christmas, but your grandfather could be dying!

Only a few minutes pass by, hearing James pace, until he comes into the room and sits next to you on the bed.

"I'm sorry, I just really want you there."

"I really want to be there, Jamie."

"Maybe we can FaceTime the whole time? And I can drive back home after or something."

"No, love, your parents live almost 3 hours away. It'll be okay, next year we'll go back to normal."

"I'll miss you."

"You're very cringey. It's only one day, honey, we'll survive." He smiles, and ultimately, Christmas turns out okay.

The Lamplighter

Jorvegians have a winter custom of putting a lighted candle in their window in hopes of seeing the Lamplighter.

Also known as the Waxen Walker, it is made of candle wax with a heart of fire. However, the heart slowly melts its body, leaving a waxy trail wherever it goes. As such, it only lives during the winter months when the temperatures are cold enough to help it hold its shape.

It wanders from place to place, consuming the candles people put out for it, replenishing its own body with the candles and reviving its heart with the tiny flames.

Nobody knows for certain how it came into existence, but it is a gentle, peaceful creature that gives hope and protection to travelers who find themselves lost in the wilderness.

Perhaps it does not want others to suffer the same fate it did.

idk. maybe I should just make like a general supplies/survival fund bc like, cost of living is going up so much I literally just can't keep up. my miniscule paycheck just doesn't cover everything, it barely did before, but now $50 will buy me like 1 meal at the grocery store if I am lucky, I still gotta pay rent in a desperate housing search, bills, for medications, apartment applications, and still keep a fund for emergencies?? it's impossible. I have been eating once a day only for literal years and even that is not becoming sustainable anymore, the amount of times I have to distract myself and try to sleep through hunger pains is killing me. and genuinely like 80% of my time is spent driving around for uncomfortable and painful medical tests for a serious ongoing health crisis that incapacitates me near every goddamn day. like to a point I cannot sit upright for longer than a goddamn hour.

like everyone's struggling especially other chronically ill disabled people and asking for financial help is embarrassing and opens you up to all kinds of cruel and distasteful comments but man, I'd just like to be able to have my one meal and medications without worrying about overdrafts

Watching Tubbo's and Fit's streams and I can't wait for Bagi to return and hear everything that Empanada's been up to:

- broke their rest agreement on Friday to do lore

- got shot at by evil!Forever/Never and forced to do child labour

- had a sleepover with Sunny and Tubbo in their 3x3 bunker after the traumatic day

- celebrated Tubbo's birthday with Sunny, Fit, Ramon and briefly Tallulah and gave him a drawing

- got given bombs by domestic terrorist Santa and then proceeded to shoot Sunny so she could get hungry

- watched Tubbo build an avocado farming machine

- made a tea party with Sunny outside the factory

She's so adorable, literally watched Tubbo's stream today purely to see if Em woke up. She's already gone to bed but she is sick so expected she wants to go rest.

Edit: I forgot the new cat she got as a present from Ramon I want to know what she named it. Also she returned and they're all laying on the train tracks waiting to be hit... babysitter Tubbo is a vibe. A very different vibe to babysitter bad I think.

Splatoon Shoe Trivia

I think ppl already know most of this already, but its been a while since these came out n i find it really neat so im bringing it up again

here's the super cute squidmas art of OTH and the Squisters, big fan big fan.

Now here's the thing: all those shoes are real shoes in game, but none of the rest of their gear is. Not in Splatoon 2, or even 3 as far as I can tell, but all the shoes? You can wear those in 2!

Now first things first.

Marie is wearing the Trooper Power Stripes.

These were part of the distrubution gear for springfest, alongside 7 other sets of shoes. Shoes designed by Pearl and Marina!! This is one of Marina's shoes, and it was made for Springfest, and Marie is wearing it in this Winter Promo art!!!!!

All the other shoes are real shoes too, the Black Seahorses, Punk Blacks, and White Laceless Dakroniks, for Callie, Pearl, and Marina respectively.

Now there's already a lot to be said here about the fact that for some reason only Marie is wearing springfest exclusive gear (in the winter art!!!), but that's not even all.

Because OTH and the Squid Sister ALSO wear real gear in the art for the Hero v Villian (smash) fest! And unlike the Squidmas art, as of now, Inkipedia notes which pieces of gear are being worn here! thanks inkipedia mods!!!

The squisters appear to both be wearing generic white tee shirts (cuttlefish ingame gear), but Pearl's wearing the Black Hoodie. Marina's jersey, while having the squidforce logo, doesn't appear to be any real jersey a player can wear.

But the shoes!!!! Marina is now wearing shoes that are very similar to the seasme salt 270's, but slightly different (mainly in them being black where the 270's r white). ((thank you inkipedia i wouldn't have caught that one alone)), and Marie is wearing the Black and Blue Squidkids V!

and Pearl and Callie?

Pearl is wearing White Laceless Dakroniks, which you may recognize from being the shoes Marina is wearing in the Squidmas Art. Callie is now wearing the Punk Blacks, which you may recognize from being the shoes that Pearl is wearing during the Squidmas art!

Hero v Villian predates Springfest, and Squidmas 2019!

it's just such a bunch of neat lil details to me.

I like to think Pearl got shoe reccomendations from Callie after Hero v Villian, or that Marina got a pair of shoes to match Pearl. Marie bought the exclusive springfest shoes and then made sure she wore them the next time she saw Marina. who knows!
