The Chromatic Dragons from D&D

I wanted to try my own take on them since I did the metallic dragons and Bahamut. Finally sat down to do it.

I tried to make the black dragon more crocodilian. Overall, I tried to make them seem less "evil" and more like characters. Green in particular I could see peering over a pair of glasses. Red I didn't change much, just tried to put in some tiger stripes to make them seem more "apex."

I'm very happy with Blue, I really like how I made them look. But what i'm happiest with is White. White in the D&D lore isn't very compelling, so I took a lot of liberties. It took a lot of time to get a design I'm happy with, but I really like how this looks. uwu

I imagine White dragons are more solitary. They have a reputation for not being very talkative so when they do interact with another intelligent being, they can come off as clumsy because they haven't been practicing their common. White dragons evidently also hunt whales sometimes, so I thought if they're ok with going in arctic seas and hunting marine wildlife, maybe they should have a little bit that makes them look more orca-ish.

I tried to model them a bit after knights or vikings. Should also have tusks since they're a cold weather predator. I also wanted this ones neck scales to look a bit ragged like a beard.

HEY so I've had this dragoness for a long, LONG time named Valinyfis and she's one of my FAVORITES. She was originally made for a collaborative world building effort that became Hella Not Collaborative In The Slightest as time went on because the person running it just sorta was a control freak (also very abusive), but I kept the three characters I had in that world; One of them being Valinyfis!

Her ref was drawn by (Warning for NSFW and nudity)@DrippyDrag over on Twitter. and, while I cannot find any other presence for him on Tumblr other than a some-what abandoned fan blog, I will link back to where I perceive his main presence being.

But without any further ado... Dragon!!

The original design .JPG was actually a rather comedic assortment that contained sourced images and a generalized idea for what I wanted physically- And of course, this is the perfect encapsulation of the vision I had for her! Speaking of...

Valinyfis outside of what is mentioned here has a huge fondness for intoxicants- Namely wine- and elves. As food. Not... Not as company. She can't stand them as company.

She is also a sorcerer who gained her magic after an... Interesting predicament. Who knew that chomping someone with a sorcerous spark would bring out the latent one within yourself? Either way, her magic focused on fire, and seemed to become more powerful when she was exposed to the light of the sun. She was also capable of using the flexibility granted by such gifts on her natural abilities, such as her breath weapon.

Her story was supposed to be her solidifying some place as her lair, and eventually becoming a major player in the world before eventually ascending into what is called a "Greatwyrm". This never really came to fruition however, and sort of just... Yeah, Mentioned above happened.

I still have a great amount of love for her, and am planning to get more stuff for her in the future. But until then... Behold, Precious beast sleeps. (Drawn by @mythrilkittyart!)

In Dungeons and Dragons there are two main types of dragon - chromatic dragons with colourful scales and evil natures, and metallic dragons with metal scales and good natures. Green dragons love intrigue and secrets, and rather than hoards of gold or jewels they particularly prize slaves and servants. Many green dragons have connections with the feywild, with their lairs full of corrupted vegetation.
