‼️SOLUTION TO UBLOCK ORIGIN YOUTUBE BAN‼️
Hey friendssssss!! Recently Ublock origin stopped working on firefox youtube and I have been trying to find a solution because FUCK YOU AND YOUR ADS BOOOO
SO, this is what managed to get around the youtube block for now:
turn off "quickfixes" (go to ublock settings, click 'filter lists' and go to 'built in'. There should be a list of 5 filters, click the arrow to expand the list if it's not showing up)
add "chrome mask" as an extension to your browser (this makes firefox look like chrome to websites that have blocked firefox (or as far as I understand it anyway lol))
refresh youtube (if it doesn't work the chrome mask extension might be turned off, just click on the extension icon and turn it on)
HOPE THAT HELPS NOW GO WATCH A 3 HOUR VIDEO ESSAY!!!

Attention! Google is officially removing their cached page function.
Tumblr media
It was never about helping you, it was always about controlling and moderating the flow of information.
Tumblr media
We grew up being told "if you say something online, it's there forever!" But, in recent years, the trend is more openly "if you say something online, it will be there only as long as it's profitable." Stray from the ruling norm and you're suppressed, stray from profitability and you're tossed away.
Of course they're pushing for a shutdown of the Internet archive, cached sites, and open forum posts. Why let you access information for free, when instead they can gate it behind a proprietary app and charge you for access?
Tumblr media
Never rely on a corporation to ever help you. Never rely on a business to hold your interests at heart.
Also keep in mind: Google is blocking adblockers in the chrome manifest v3 update slated for June of this year.

Okay, the "Youtube blocking everyone who uses adblocks from viewing their videos" thing was the final straw that made me finally switch to Firefox. And...I get it now. I get why I should have done this ages ago.
Thank you, Tumblr peer pressure, for helping me to better my online experience and safety.

this post was just recommended to me and there's something about google and microsoft forcing things on their users that just ticks me off
like how dare you to just change people's settings for them without even asking them

I like how the enshittification of all of the biggest internet platforms isn't even trying to hide the 'making everyone's experience shittier, more difficult and annoying' anymore

guys, youtube is starting to be harder on the adblocking rules, so we should definitely follow them.
just so you know what rules not to break, chrome has hidden ublock origin because it updates around all of youtube attempts to block adblockers (slimy bugger), definitely DO NOT use the inspect element tool, use Ctrl + F to find "disabled aria-describedbody", and and DO NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES change it to "enabled". this will allow you to install the extension like it was never hidden by chrome. this is very bad guys, don't do this. you'll have ublock origin back, and youtube doesn't want that because it stops youtube from making ad money. so come on, DONT install ublock origin, watch all 15 unskippable sexually inappropriate ads marketed towards children in your 4 minute video, come on. don't break youtubes rules guys.
also, youtube has been cracking down on removing quality of life features, as we all know, they know best, and their decisions are flawless. so DONT get the extension that re-impliments the youtube dislike. youtube removed it for a reason guys, come on.

tbh i wont share links for when i find things on my usual HighDefMovies 4U (i use the dot tv one fwiw, as it seems to mirror the other sites, and i havent really tried the other ones that show up in the search) cause last time i sent someone a direct link, they were not using any adblock (😱) and guess what happened (this is your cue to drop any streaming "services" you may be wasting your money on ^^ it's all free on the internet, babe ♥)

Chrome, tab-grouping, adblockers, Firefox, and Zen browser
Did you know that you can now enable tab-grouping in Firefox by changing one setting in about:config, and it's really easy? Here are the instructions:
You guys I am SO RELIEVED about the above tab-grouping revelation re: Firefox, I cannot even.
When my adblocker stopped working in Chrome it basically made the internet unusable for me, and the main reason I wasn't already using Firefox was the lack of tab-grouping. So I had basically no mainstream options, and I ended up using Zen, which is based on Firefox but has an okay workspaces UI that is somewhat like tab-grouping, but it's not ideal and Zen is buggy in a lot of other ways that are sometimes unpredictable. (Google Sheets just was not working well, and I really need that. I reported many bugs but it did not help.)
I was using that for several weeks but there was still a lot of friction and it was adding a lot of strain to my life in a background way that I couldn't prevent.
So finding out that Firefox was rolling out tab-grouping meant I was opening and checking Firefox several times a day to see if my tabs were groupable! And then I learned that you could change a setting in about:config to get the feature sooner…
GAME-CHANGER.
My browser works, my internet experience is immediately smoother and freer, it is SO GOOD to put that stressor down after a horrible few weeks. Like, I feel a bit silly saying that having a bad browser was making my life that much worse, but it is what it is.

please please please PLEASE i know people are trying to be helpful and promote privacy and thats GREAT!!! but the amount of people i see saying stuff like "just use Brave lol" pains me. Brave is based on chromium, the same framework chrome uses, its created and maintained BY GOOGLE which means at any point they can add or take away something to the framework that will affect *everyone* using chrome, edge, operaGX and yes, Brave (like with manifestV3) I think this is spread by the amount of youtubers getting sponsored by it,,,idk but people mean it when they say the ONLY competition to chrome is firefox.

To those who use Firefox as a web browser, there is a way to get around twitch ads.
So when the stream gets put up in the corner when the ad plays, you can click on the pop out option on the video and you can hear the audio and mute the ads. So the ad still plays and supports the streamer but you can still watch the stream.

This is the funniest possible ad I could've gotten as Youtube tries to get around their adblock problem again.
