Oooo, how about some headcanons for Rafael and Theo? They’re tied for my hear rn 😅 but I’m leaning heavily towards Rafael!

ugh hes so easy to fluster <3 any small compliments make him blush head to toe and its so cute.

he really loves compliments, especially on his appearance. he didnt get them alot, when he was younger so he thrives on them as an adult.

on that, hes dealt with alot of self doubt from his family. he loves them of course but being able to move to the farmhouse would definitely help him improve upon his own self love.

any kind of touch is very reassuring for him. hes struggling during work? a hand rubbing his back while his partner reassures him on his own ideas helps.

he would attempt to make his engagement/wedding rings himself. he may need some assistance because he normally takes on different projects but its the thought that counts.

im picturing smthin like hey there delilah as a serenade frm him. but he will 100% learn his partner’s favorite songs (or if theres a famous song with there name in it) to sing to them.

im not sure what type of music this is but i see him as liking regina spektor, janis joplin, maybe the mountain goats?

if his partner has plans on fishing for the day? count him in. if him and his partner had a kid he’d LOVE to be able to pass on fishing. fishing is so peaceful and something he and his father bonded over so hed love to bond with his partner/kid over it.

was at london trans+ pride today and saw a sign that i think is my favourite from the whole day

also saw a bunch of really cute dogs but didn’t get any photos :(

today was really fun, it was so nice to be surrounded by trans love and joy, and despite there being a tommy robinson march, we didn’t run into any fascist assholes which is obviously always an upside

I really love the themes in some of the stories in Coral Island, like Theo and the way grief is a tricky thing. I love the acknowledgement that missing a loved one you've lost never really goes away, and the exploration of how people grieve differently - and that's okay! But that also doesn't mean they can't hurt one another with the way they choose to cope (or don't cope).

Does that mean Theo loves his father any less? No. But it does give nuance to their relationship, who they are as people, and acknowledges that they needed different things in the aftermath of losing Theo's mom.

It's also a glimpse at the other side of Jim's story, because from the beginning, it's very easy to be sympathetic to him and the struggle of losing the love of his life. BUT it doesn't mean I can't feel bad for his kids. But I also don't have to make him out to be the bad guy. I totally get that it's hard - especially during a time where your heart is breaking into a million pieces and you just wish the world would stop.

And tbh, I quite like that Jim isn't a perfect parent, we see it a few times throughout the game. We know he doesn't always "get it" when it comes to Theo and Lily, but he wants to and I think knowing he's trying is what matters the most to them, because he always does his best to hold space for them and what they are feeling and what they want.

I think that really built the foundation for Theo and how he processes things. Like, it's nice to see his train of thought and how it goes from identifying the way he was hurt to how he wants to talk about it with his dad, because even if it is a daunting thing to do, he doesn't even doubt for a moment that Jim will listen to him and they can grow from such a confrontation.

As before, the chapter summary for this chapter indicates that Manny and Diego going to the soccer game ends up with disastrous and unintended consequences for themselves and the herd. We get a deeper look into Diego's uncle/niece bond with Peaches, too! :)

It counts. That is currently Gwen. At the point I'm at, she was just given a bit to think about and she's focused on The Adventure right now but also in the back of her mind ...hmmmm

Also neither of these have come up yet and one's more questioning on my part but Ranvir is going to have a bit of a Time when he realizes he's not Rani anymore, and Nathaniel is also gonna be going through it if I get to writing his story and decide he's a trans girl instead, because he thinks he has to follow the Phantom's story pretty much exactly and also there may be a prophecy or curse or something involving the words 'firstborn son'. We'll see

i will articulate this better some day but online trans spaces genuinely suck shit in their current form and i desperately want something built around being our own culture and saying “fuck the norm” instead of desperately attempting assimilation. i’ve never felt like there’s a genuine subculture for trans people and it sucks. everything has to be palatable to the normative tongue. fuck that.

also says a lot about who cis people are willing to platform and give attention to that most prominent figures in online trans spaces are also sex workers (this is not hate towards those people at all, i fully support sex workers and i’m genuinely glad they’re successful in their work, this is specifically directed at the why of why cis people flock to these specific figures).
