We all know Mo Xuanyu summoned Wei Wuxian into his body for revenge… but what if Wei Wuxian, now legally Mo Xuanyu, also inherited the entire Mo family estate by default?

- Mo Ziyuan? Dead.

- Madam Mo and Uncle Mo? Dead.

- Any other relatives? Nowhere to be seen.

- Mo Xuanyu, despite being an "illegitimate lunatic," is literally the last living heir.

The local magistrate has to recognize him—what’s the alternative? Letting the Mo Manor rot? Nope. Congrats, Wei Wuxian, you’re now a petty nobleman.

How This Changes Things:

1. Wei Wuxian, Reluctant Landlord

The Mo family might’ve been declining, but they still had some wealth. Now Wei Wuxian has:

- A roof over his head (no more sleeping in barns).

- Money to quietly rebuild his strength (buy talisman supplies, maybe a cheap sword).

- A base to investigate the dismembered arm without looking like a hobo.

2. Fighting Prejudice (But He’s Wei Wuxian, So He Doesn’t Care)

Townsfolk: "That lunatic owns the Mo estate now?!"

Wei Wuxian: "Pay your rent or I’ll haunt you~"

He doesn’t need their approval—he’s got legal documents.

3. Lan Wangji’s Recognition Happens Sooner

Instead of Wei Wuxian looking broke and suspicious, he’s now:

- Dressed slightly better (still in black/red, but not rags).

- Playing Wangxian on a decent guqin (bought with Mo family money).

Lan Wangji hears the song, sees "Mo Xuanyu" acting very familiar, and—bam, reunion accelerated.

Possible things for such storyline, before the OG plot might set in:

1. Physical Conditioning - trains Mo Xuanyu's weak body daily to rebuild strength and endurance

2. Core Development - works to strengthen any existing golden core through meditation and qi exercises

3. World Updates - pays informants to learn current political situation and major events from past 13 years

4. Resource Acquisition - purchases proper cultivation materials (talisman paper, cinnabar, decent flute)

5. Research - studies Mo family records for useful connections or information

6. Safehouse Prep - establishes hidden caches of money and supplies around the property

7. Discreet Networking - makes quiet contacts with rogue cultivators and merchants for information

8. Defense Setup - reinforces the manor with protective arrays and escape routes

9.Learning out of Past misstakes

TL;DR: Wei Wuxian, by default, becomes the Mo heir. He uses the resources to stabilize himself before the plot kicks off, making his comeback smoother. Lan Wangji still finds him—but now with property deeds in hand.

I just noticed that the map of the Halcyon Domain shown in the session 0 has several location labels that are not on the map as published with the campaign frame, and judging by Luzal Monastery, Amber Gate, and Screaming Forest, they're labels created specifically for the CritRole miniseries.

Notable is that there's some additional alterations drawn into the map itself for the Barrow of Blind Repose, the Astrofoundry, and the Luzal Monastery.

Added names are: The Gilded Shambles (ruins east of Okros), Amber Gate (front gate to the Amber Reach), Empyrean Bridge (connects the gate to the inner Reach), Drowned Sprawl (east of the bridge), Basilica Quarter (northeastern inner Reach, opposite the Cinnabar Quarter), The Astrofoundry (high point seemingly within the Cinnabar Quarter), Barrow of Blind Repose (within the Idol Hollows), Screaming Forest (south of the gate), and Luzal Monastery (opposite side of the Griefcleft Mountains).

First map is from the core rulebook, and the second (has the bits of yellow around the edges from the overlap) is for the miniseries.

Alchemy, the untouched friend of Witchcraft

If there is something interesting that is nearly not used on mostly of the witch community, is Alchemy, and is something from which we could take some few useful stuffs.

As always, disclaimer first, I’m not an expert on the subject and I barely if I read a couple of books about the topic (from another 10 untouched ones lol), so as always in life, take what I say with tweezers. This is meant to be a light superficial view to open a door of possibilities in a mix of Witchcraft and Alchemy, is not a thesis. Saying that, to the core of the question.

Alchemy use elements. A lot of them.

The three primes or Tria Prima (the basic 3 materials): Sulfur (Related to the Soul and the principle of combustibility, so it has volatility, can burn, explode, combust), Mercury (Related to the Spirit, the principle of fusibility so the material can be fused together and volatility so a substance vaporizes), and Salt (Relate to the Body, the principle of non-combustibility and non-volatility).

Our beloved Four basic Elements: Air, Earth, Fire, Water.

The Seven Metals associated with the seven classical planets: Lead, corresponding with Saturn. Tin, corresponding with Jupiter. Iron, corresponding with Mars. Gold, corresponding with the Sun. Copper, corresponding with Venus. Mercury, corresponding with Mercury. Silver, corresponding with the Moon.

The 13 Mundane Elements and Later Metals: Antimony, Arsenic, Bismuth, Cobalt, Magnesium, Manganese, Nickel, Oxygen, Phlogiston, Phosphorus, Platinum, Sulfur, Zinc (All of them with a lot of interesting properties and functions, in and out the alchemy world).

The 10 Alchemical Compounds: Acid, Sal ammoniac, Aqua fortis, Aqua regia, Aqua vitae, Amalgam, Cinnabar, Vinegar, Vitriol, Brimstone (All of them also with amazing properties).

And what interesting me the most (at least to my way to do witchcraft), The 12 Alchemical Processes:

Calcination (Aries): The thermal treatment of a solid to removing impurities or volatile substances.

Congelation (Taurus): Term used in medieval and early modern alchemy for the process known today as crystallization. Process by which a solid form into a structure known as a crystal, by precipitating from a solution or freezing.

Fixation (Gemini): Process by which a previously volatile substance is "transformed" into a form (often solid) that is not affected by fire.

Solution (Cancer): Homogeneous mixture composed of two or more substances. In such a mixture, a solute is a substance dissolved in another substance, known as a solvent.

Digestion (Leo): A process in which gentle heat is applied to a substance over a period of several weeks.

Distillation (Virgo): Separating the components or substances from a liquid mixture by using selective boiling and condensation.

Sublimation (Libra): The transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gas state, without passing through the liquid state.

Separation (Scorpio): Converts a mixture or solution of chemical substances into two or more distinct product mixtures. Process of distinguishing to two or more substance in order to obtain purity.

Ceration (Sagittarius): Chemical process, by continuously adding a liquid by imbibition to a hard, dry substance while it is heated. Typically, this treatment makes the substance softer.

Fermentation/ Putrefaction (Capricorn): A metabolic process that produces chemical changes in organic substrates through the action of enzymes/ Decomposition of organic matter by bacterial or fungal digestion.

Multiplication (Aquarius): Process to increase the potency of the elixir or projection powder, in order to increase the gains in the subsequent projection.

Projection (Pisces): Process to transmute a lesser substance into a higher form; often lead into gold.

Damn, alchemy even have symbols to Units: Month, Day, Hour, Dram (Unit of mass between 1 and 3 grams), Half Dram, Ounce (Unit of mass, weight or volume of 28 grams, Half Ounce, Scruple (1 grams), Pound (500 grams).

So just with this simple 2 pages of basic Wikipedia info, we have a ton of new things to use. Everything here has specific properties, some more physical and chemical oriented, but others (like the 3 Tria Prima and The 12 Alchemical Processes) have a lot of correspondences with the witch life itself.

The 12 Alchemical Processes could be absolutely used to represent an desired outcome.

Calcination uses thermal treatment, so it can boost the Fire element of a spell. It also “removing impurities or volatile substances”, so can be applied to generate a mild fever to get rid off the flu, or to boost the organs that clean the body (kidneys and liver mostly)

Congelation turns a solid by freezing, can boost the Water element, so all the “freezer spells” can be boosted with this.

Fixation? A volatile substance is transformed into a solid form? Sound pretty much to grounding, or to help to focus an ADHD head as mine, or to put down to earth someone who is VOLATILE AND VIOLENT. Also, Earth element.

Solution? Homogeneous mixture of two or more substances? It sounds like an aid to make two people on conflict to get into an agreement, or to boost a new business by mixing the opportunities with the action. Air element.

Digestion. A process in which gentle heat is applied to a substance over a period of several weeks? It sounds like something that can help any process that need digestion (bad news must be “digested”, hard choices must be “consulted with the pillow”), and the “gentle heat” sounds comforting. Someone is grieving? Maybe Digestion can help them to overcome the awful times.

Distillation. Separating the components or substances. Anything that need to be separated can be helped with this. Relationships that must end, breakups, cut the ties with older things or habits.

Sublimation. The transition of a substance. I heard trans rights? Can this maybe help with your hormones? Or even to transition from what you previously left behind with the distillation, to focus in a new better future.

Separation. Process of distinguishing to two or more substance in order to obtain purity. How to choose from two or more choices? How to pick the better one? The one with purity? Separation maid aid.

Ceration. A hard, dry is heated to make it softer. Make that person less frigid, make the boss less bitchy, make your chronic pain less hurtful, make your bills less heavy, all that you can think in make softer.

Fermentation/ Putrefaction. I personally love this one. Produces changes in organic substrates and decomposition of organic matter by bacterial or fungal digestion. Prime element to curses. All what you want to rid off in the most disgusting way. May their flesh get rotten under a car in a hot summer.

Multiplication. Process to increase the potency of the elixir in order to increase the gains in the subsequent projection. MONEY MONEY MAKE MORE MONEY, all what need to be increased and all what you want to multiply, go go go!

Projection. Transmute a lesser substance into a higher form “lead into gold”. Perfect to get better as a person, to learn to adapt, accept, to grow compassion, love, etc.

At this you can add the Units, the metals and mundane elements, the 4 elements, the tria prima, your crystals and herbs and sigils and all. And your spells will be filled with components and correspondences.

What’s better, a lot of the physical elements are not too hard to get (some yes, they are, but you are not here to make lead into gold with a full set of chemistry), but alchemy use a lot of symbology, so even if you don’t have the physical element, you can use their properties with the symbol, just as any other sigil.

Salt is easy. Tin in a food can. Antimony in mostly all the rocks. Arsenic in apple seeds (technically no but still). Cobalt and Manganese basically everywhere. Magnesium in your own body. Nickel in coins. Oxygen in the air., Phosphorus, Zinc and Sulfur in food. Acid in anything acid lol. Aqua vitae in alcohol (especially Whisky). Vinegar in vinegars.

Long story short, if you feel that maybe you are lacking something, check some books about alchemy would maybe help. Don’t pick super chemical specific pro books and don’t be discouraged by the terms, pick what can be useful to you, and I hope this open some doors and bring more curiosity about this amazing topic.

He had hesitated for a moment over Hector’s ring, but at last had put it on, too. The dinner had been good; a pheasant he had shot himself, and a salad of greens, in deference to Fraser’s odd tastes for such things. Now they sat over the chessboard, lighter topics of conversation set aside in the concentration of the midgame. “Will you have sherry?” He set down his bishop, and leaned back, stretching. Fraser nodded, absorbed in the new position. “I thank ye.” Grey rose and crossed the room, leaving Fraser by the fire. He reached into the cupboard for the bottle, and felt a thin trickle of sweat run down his ribs as he did so. Not from the fire, simmering across the room; from sheer nervousness. He brought the bottle back to the table, holding the goblets in his other hand; the Waterford crystal his mother had sent. The liquid purled into the glasses, shimmering amber and rose in the firelight. Fraser’s eyes were fixed on the cup, watching the rising sherry, but with an abstraction that showed he was deep in his thoughts. The dark blue eyes were hooded. Grey wondered what he was thinking; not about the game—the outcome of that was certain. Grey reached out and moved his queen’s bishop. It was no more than a delaying move, he knew; still, it put Fraser’s queen in danger, and might force the exchange of a rook. Grey got up to put a brick of peat on the fire. Rising, he stretched himself, and strolled behind his opponent to view the situation from this angle. The firelight shimmered as the big Scot leaned forward to study the board, picking up the deep red tones of James Fraser’s hair, echoing the glow of the light in the crystalline sherry. Fraser had bound his hair back with a thin black cord, tied in a bow. It would take no more than a slight tug to loosen it. John Grey could imagine running his hand up under that thick, glossy mass, to touch the smooth, warm nape beneath. Fraser sat still as a statue of cinnabar, only the deep blue eyes alive in his face as he studied the board. The fire had burned down, and the lines of his body were limned with shadow. His hand, all gold and black with the light of the fire on it, rested on the table, still and exquisite as the captured pawn beside it. The blue stone in John Grey’s ring glinted as he reached for his queen’s bishop. Is it wrong, Hector? he thought. That I should love a man who might have killed you? Or was it a way at last to put things right; to heal the wounds of Culloden for them both? The bishop made a soft thump as he set the felted base down with precision. Without stopping, his hand rose, as though it moved without his volition. The hand traveled the short distance through the air, looking as though it knew precisely what it wanted, and set itself on Fraser’s, palm tingling, curved fingers gently imploring. The hand under his was warm—so warm—but hard, and motionless as marble. Nothing moved on the table but the shimmer of the flame in the heart of the sherry. He lifted his eyes then, to meet Fraser’s.

“Take your hand off me,” Fraser said, very, very softly. “Or I will kill you.”

The hand under Grey’s did not move, nor did the face above, but he could feel the shiver of revulsion, a spasm of hatred and disgust that rose from the man’s core, radiating through his flesh. Quite suddenly, he heard once more the memory of Quarry’s warning, as clearly as though the man spoke in his ear this moment. If you dine with him alone—don’t turn your back on him. There was no chance of that; he could not turn away. Could not even look away or blink, to break the dark blue gaze that held him frozen. Moving as slowly as though he stood atop an unexploded mine, he drew back his hand. There was a moment’s silence, broken only by the rain’s patter and the hissing of the peat fire, when neither of them seemed to breathe. Then Fraser rose without a sound, and left the room.

11 THE TORREMOLINOS GAMBIT ~Voyager

Hi! I just stumbled in here. What's Land of the Lustrous about?

Well firstly hi and welcome to my tourney blog!

Land of the Lustrous takes place on a planet where all of the land has been reduced to a small island. On that island, immortal beings made of gemstones, called the Lustrous have formed a small society. The Lustrous are preyed on by beings from the moons, and as a result, many of them work to defend their home from the lunarians.

Enter Phosphophyllite. Phos is the youngest gem, at 300. They are incredibly delicate, and shatter into pieces even at loud noises. Phos wants nothing more than to fight, or to have some purpose in their society, but their clumsiness and brittleness has barred them from this for their entire existence.

The manga begins with Phosphophyllite being given a job, to write a natural history encyclopedia. As they begin their investigation, they meet Cinnabar, a gem more delicate than Phos, but much more skilled. Cinnabar works alone, at night, waiting to be kidnapped and taken to the moon.

Phos promises to find a job for Cinnabar that's far more fun than night patrols, and the manga continues from there, following Phos as their body and heart change.

At its core, it's a story about change, forgiveness, and it has a lot to say about Buddhism, particularly pure land Buddhism. It's 108 chapters long, written by Haruko Ichikawa.

I'd recommend reading it instead of watching the anime adaptation by Studio Orange, because the adaptation, while beautiful, stops right when the story starts getting really good.

cinnabar is like. the Most Normal person in the mbcc, and that’s a good thing !! that’s a very good thing !! i mean normal as in remarkably well adjusted !!

besides that though, the best way i can describe cinnabar is princely or very knight-like. she’s stalwart and honest and sincere and sees the good in people but not to the point of naivete. she can acknowledge that the world is a fucked up place, but she doesn’t let that be her free pass to do fucked up ot bad things. she also takes her job seriously, but will not compromise on her morals on its account.

at her core cinnabar is a gentle soul, the kind of person you can just be comfortable around even if you don’t know her for very long. i think she loves deeply, as evidenced by her interactions with serpent eye (functionally her family, if i’m not mistaken?) and she’ll shower her partner in it too. i don’t feel like she’s the type for grand gestures, but she’ll remember every last detail about you and your preferences and can always tell what you need, be it cuddles, a talk, or just some quiet time in each other’s presence.

tldr; cinnabar is the girlfriend of all time and the healthiest option you could go for in the mbcc.

Explaining every H:SR characters name, Part 1-- The Astral Express Crew!

I’ll put a symbol →(!!!) on every section that has a potential spoiler.

Stelle: A shortened version of the French name Estelle, meaning “star”. This name was derived from the Latin word “stella”. As for how it applies to the character, I’m sure it’s meant to show that the trailblazers true place is among the astral express exploring the cosmos. It might also be a reference to the Stellarons appearance.

Caelus: Derived from the Latin word “caelum”, Caelus is a name that means “sky” or “the heavens”. This name also belonged to the Roman god of the sky. It’s a little more convoluted than Stelle’s more straightforward name, but I think it holds the same narrative meaning as Caelus (the god) has heavy ties to the planet Jupiter, fitting the space theme. It's also the most yellow planet aside from Venus, (which is more associated with the color green due to how it appears in the sky anyway).

March 7th, DH, WY, and Himeko under cut!!

(!!!!) March 7th: It is the day March was found, but the specific date can bring some symbolism to mind. The month of march signals the beginning of of spring, a season full of new growth and revival from the stasis that winter brings. This fits into March’s character arc in her companion quest, as the garden of recollection locks away her past, essentially saying that It’s not something March should be remembering or looking for, implying something awful or traumatizing has happened to her. This shows that without those memories, March may have turned from a cold, "icy" character into a warmer, healthier one. 7 is also a lucky number, as it was very lucky that March has survived so long drifting in space and frozen, even if it was in 6 phase ice.

(!!!) Dan Heng: The character 丹 (Dān) simply means red, although it can also be pellet, powder, or cinnabar. I think this is mainly to tie in with Dan Heng’s maple leaf theme. The character 恒 (Heng) means “constant” or “persistent”, a nod to Dan Heng’s collected and steady nature compared to his eccentric companions. Welt Yang: “Welt” is said to be the “name of the world”, but it’s really just the German word for world. “Yang” (杨) is Welt’s mother’s surname, meaning willow, poplar, or aspen, all three of them different trees. I don’t think that either of these names imply anything about Welt’s story, aside from the mantle of "welt" given to him by Welt Joyce, whoch is another post altogether. I think they highlight his responsible, powerful, and thoughtful character, as well as his sentimentality.

(!!!) (Welt Yang) Joachim Nokianvirtanen: Joachim is an abridged or contracted form of the biblical name Jehoiachin or Jehoiakim. They mean "Yaweh will establish" and "raised by Yaweh" respectively. Yaweh is a name of the Hebrew god, with possible roots to the old Semitic root הוה (hawah), meaning "to be" or "to become." This name is a probable reference to Welt inheriting his mentors Herrscher core and becoming the second Herrscher of Reason. His surname, Nokianvirtanen, is not an actual last name, but a mix of two names. The first part, Nokian, is a town in Finland. The second, Virtanen, is a common surname in finland derived from the word "virta", meaning "stream." I don't interpret this surname to have any meaning aside from establishing that Welt is (not confirmed outright, but heavily implied to be) ethnically half Finnish and half Chinese.

(!!!) Himeko Murata (無量塔姫子): Her first name is comprised of the characters 姫 (hime), meaning princess, and 子 (ko), meaning child. Put the whole thing together and it means "princess child", though I'm sure I didn't have to tell you that! I think it's less about her personality and story (especially in regards to Honkai Impact 3rd), but I think it represents her parents live for her, particularly her father's, as he's the one we know most about. The characters for her last name are-- 無 (Mu; nothing/nothingness), 量 (Ra(?); measurement, but with two connotations. First, it can mean a measurement, like weight or quantity, or it can mean "to measure" by estimate or actual documentation, or "to consider."), and 塔 (Ta; pagoda, tower, steeple). I think the most important part of her name is that last part-- in both universes, Himeko acts as a rock or mentor figure to many characters, being a motherly/older sister type towards the young trio of the express, and a teacher and squad leader toward Kiana, Mei, and Bronya, going as far as to strap a bomb to Mei's heart to keep her powers in check (with Mei's consent) should she lose control.

(Characters are ordered by introduction. Characters will be put where they were first shown, despite their relevance in other places. as for clara, hers wouldn't really be a snack but she likes warm drinks like tea :) she wasn't very big on it but once her and anne started getting closer and stopped bickering so much she tried to put in more of an effort to befriend anne and in a panic decided that rich people like fancy stuff, right?? and tea is really fancy?? so she got rlly into making tea the Right Way. only to find out (in my headcanon) anne is a monster who drinks coffee with 10 packs of sugar and a half cup of creamer. clara still likes tea though! her favorite is chai or hibiscus, but she's also really fond of the catherine's green tea from stablebucks (the shop by the Jarlaheim ferry)

callum's not very big on snacks, he's the kind of person who forgets to eat for hours and shoves a protein bar down his throat. but when he does, he prefers stuff that's a little more filling. he's the type of guy to have a small meal instead of a snack. he likes making his own food too, he finds it therapeutic. and also i think at some point after joining dark core he just ends up not really trusting anyone else not to fuck with his food lol so he prefers to make it himself. he also finds it most relaxing to share food with his soul horse vale, because he finds vale's quiet presence comforting

cinnabar is originally pandorian, but he's new to having any senses at all. his body is made from porcelain so he doesn't really have senses in the normal way, it's all kind of magically distorted to him. when he's feeling good, he likes anything with really strong flavors, like super sweet (he has a huge sweet tooth) or super spicy. but when he's overwhelmed or is looking for more of a comfort food/snack, anything mild and almost bland is better because again, having senses at all is still a strange feeling for him. like unsalted almonds or plain toast. eventually, when he and clara meet, she's the one to introduce him to flavored beverages like juice and coffee and tea, which he becomes obsessed with. he's the kind of person with a drink order that takes 5 minutes to recite. not in a snobby way, just like. there's so many different combinations how could he not want to try every possible one??

I played Path to Nowhere for a couple of weeks and I may have problem when it comes to leveling up Sinners. You see I'm a r1999 or reverse 1999 player, in that game I basically upgrade my arcanist even those who are below 3 stars cuz it's easy (for me) to get stamina and I can go again. Which became a problem when I'm on ptn, sure the grinding for materials is easy since I can just raid but the stamina are limited when using hypercubes and arresting Sinners, basically I have the urge to just upgrade everyone, it's hard for me to describe. If possible any tips on playing this game. The Sinners I mostly use is hecate, Hella, emp, cinnabar, Che, owo and sometimes Raven wolverine and Labyrinth

Che and Labyrinth are some of the most powerful but cheap investments that continue to remain relevant in current content due to their incredible core-breaking abilities.

EMP and Hecate are good initial investments, but I would say they do fall off.

NOX is the meta god. Or at least one of them, last I checked. You can get her for free from the novice tasks thing. Do that ASAP.

You don't really need tanks except for particularly niche situations -- but OwO is generally regarded as the best due to her ability to break cores. If you want a tank for whatever reason, OwO is very rarely a bad bet, as far as I know.

Hamel is the best healer in the game and as far as I know this is uncontested and hasn't changed. If you don't have Hamel, Ariel is usually used as the substitute.

Since you only just started playing, you won't have any of the limited Sinners. In future, if you manage to get your hands on Deren and/or Shalom during a rerun, they are both incredibly powerful, meta-defining units. Yao is likewise powerful from what I've heard, but this is hearsay; I don't have a dedicated burn/sacrifice team for her to fit in, so she isn't on my regular roster.

I would also personally recommend upgrading Raven more as I've found her to be one of my best magic units.
