One of my favourite pre-vis paintings that never quite found its way into the actual show: a breathtaking city-wide shot! When our BG design lead, Alex Myung, initially handed this design off to me, I was enthralled by the beautiful, incredibly thoughtful detail... and totally intimidated as to how to actually paint it, ha ha! It was a lot of hard work, but in the end, I'm really happy with how it turned out! Thanks for the challenge, Alex - hope I did your design justice! Watch Carol and the End of the World on Netflix! “Everything I knew is gone. My wife. My daughter. My clan. Even my humanity. You four are all I have left.”
so I’m making my way through the 2012 series because rise gave me TMNT brainrot and I wanted to talk about this scene from ‘I, monster.’
up until this point, splinter hasn’t really talked much about his life pre-mutation (apart from shredder-centric conversations), and as a result, it’s really easy for me to forget that the turtles know so much about it. and that’s such an interesting perspective for them to have as characters. like, your dad/sensei had a whole human life. where you might be used to sticking to the shadows and living in a sewer under nyc because it’s all you’ve ever known, it isn’t all he’s ever known. it reframes so much of splinter’s character, but it also just has to be kind of weird for leo & the others to think about.
this is probably incoherent but I’ve been thinking about it all day

Excited to see one of my favourite paintings made it into the Carol trailer - when I think back on the show, this is always the first painting that comes to mind! It was one of my first assignments when I was still BG paint lead and quintessentially "Carol" in my opinion - can't say much else about it at the moment, but please tune in on Netflix this Friday (12/15) to find out more about Carol and her world! I promise: It's gonna be special!! Showrunner: Dan Guterman BG design lead: Alex Myung Art director: @ellemichalka

People who've survived by the skin of their teeth will say there lives a creature in that region.
Word of mouth spoken between hushed voices; the appearance of a man seemingly alone in the vast desert but watch for a monkey's tail and sharp teeth when he smiles. Do not stay in the desert when the sun is low for he already knows you're there and he will not spare mercy to pick your bones clean once he catches hold. He looks like an ancient god of the old tribes that may have once resided there and you'd best mind your manners to him for you are in His land. Some speculate he might've been such, others say he's an angry spirit cursed to starvation that seeks vengeance upon the living, and there are those who claim that he is a monster but all can agree on one thing:
He isn't Human.

My mother sent me a insta reel about "mother hood healing generational trauma" and this was a few days ago, a few days after I blew up on her last week, but I didn't open it til today and I'm just????? How THE FUCK am I supposed to respond to this. Methinks I will simply Ignore It.
