When I watched the Jeeves and Wooster series (1990–1993) with Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry, I often thought back to the movie It's Love I'm After (1937) with Leslie Howard and Eric Blore, their coming together is pleasantly surprising.

“It's not all bad. Heightened self-consciousness, apartness, an inability to join in, physical shame and self-loathing—they are not all bad. Those devils have been my angels. Without them I would never have disappeared into language, literature, the mind, laughter and all the mad intensities that made and unmade me.” ― Stephen Fry, Moab Is My Washpot

Admittedly I don’t know much about Rae Sloane, but shouldn’t she be like smack dab in the middle of literally all the live action stuff that’s airing now?

couples from classical literature and myths that didn’t survive the Great War:
-Cephalus and Procris (Metamorphoses, Ovid)
-Achilles and Patroclus (The Iliad, Homerus)
-Pyramus and Thisbe (Metamorphoses, Ovid)
-Hyacinth and Apollo
-Orpheus and Eurydice (written down by both Ovid and Virgil)
please give them a read, they’re written very beautifully. and if you’re a writer you could learn a lot from them and their style, Ovid for example taught me the art of writing short stories (he is a mastermind).

Court of Darkness: Symphony
Couple: Toa X MC (MC named Carla)
Description: Toa plays a song in the music room to demonstrate his love for Carla. 100% a fluffy sweet piece since Toa gets rarely these kind of stories. The song/lyrics referenced is Cody Fry’s “I Hear a Symphony”.

Toa and Carla sat on a couch in the Music room eating chocolate. Toa peered into Carla’s eyes.
“You’ve been rather quiet. Is everything alright?” He ran his fingers through her hair, making Carla blush.
“Y-Yes!” Carla leaned into Toa’s touch, giving a heartfelt smile. “I’m sorry. I-It’s just, this is all still a shock.”
“This?” Toa twirled a strand of Carla’s hair in his fingers.
“You. Me. Us, I suppose.” Carla’s cheeks tinted a deeper shade of red. She lowered her eyes in her lap before continuing. “I keep expecting to wake up and find what we have is a dream.”
Toa looked thoughtfully at Carla, taking her hands in his—“What we have is no dream. It truly means something to me.” Verbal affirmation did not seem adequate enough to ally Carla’s concerns. He had given it often enough in their budding relationship. Toa released his hands from Carla’s and walked to a table with a gramophone. He searched a nearby shelf and selected a record, putting it in the gramophone. “If my words are not enough to convince you, perhaps this performance will suffice.” Toa picked up a violin, perching it between his chin and shoulder.
A quiet voice from the gramophone began singing:
I used to hear a simple song
That was until you came along
Now in it’s place is something new
I hear it when I look at you
The song was simple yet complex, a classical tune with passionate undertones. After the first verse, a piano played a lilting solo, accompanied by Toa’s violin. The notes from Toa’s violin caressed the air and lingered as if drawn to Carla. Toa closed his eyes, his body swaying slightly in rhythm. The music transitioned into a second verse. Toa opened his eyes and stared at Carla, still playing.
With simple songs I wanted more
Perfection is so quick to bore
You are more beautiful by far
Our flaws are who we really are
Carla sat transfixed. The song was Toa personified—elegant, refined, starkly beautiful. Carla couldn’t look away, the song a display of the love Toa felt for her. The song moved to an orchestra break, with strings and piano notes filling the room, paired with Toa’s violin in harmony. Eventually, the song swelled into the final verse, with Toa silently mouthing the words.
I used to hear a simple song
That was until you came along
You took my broken melody
And now I hear a symphony
The piano and strings from the record crescendoed with Toa’s violin into a grandiose flourish. Suddenly, the room went quiet, except for a quiet strum of piano keys. Toa put down the violin and sang, staring intently at Carla.
And now I hear a symphony
Toa sat next to Carla, placing a hand on her cheek. “Do you understand now how I feel for you?”
“Yes. Of course.” A smile bloomed on Carla’s face as she pulled Toa in for a kiss. “Thank you, Toa.”

Hi, I made a playlist based on Mozart's love life. Why? BECAUSE 👏WHY👏NOT👏. And I'm gonna explain every single song in this post, because damnit I need a void that I can scream my opinions into.
Strap in, this is a long one.
Cake By The Ocean by DNCE
Talk to me, baby
I'm goin' blind from this sweet-sweet cravin', whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fuckin' crazy
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hopin' we'll eat cake by the ocean
Mozart was a bit of a party animal. Maybe not as much as Hollywood would like you to think, but he did know how to liven a room up. And he was a massive flirt. In a letter to his father, he wrote, "If I were obliged to marry all the girls with whom I've jested, I should have at least 200 wives."
In other words, he was an attention seeking whore.
Talk Dirty by Jason Derulo ft. 2 Chainz
Been around the world, don't speak the language (uh-huh)
But your booty don't need explaining (uh-huh)
All I really need to understand is (uh-huh)
When you, you talk dirty to me
Let's move on to Mozart's first romantic partner
His cousin!
Ever heard of Mozart's potty mouth and his dirty letters? Many of them were directed to his cousin, Maria Anna Thekla Mozart. Some even got a bit sexual, to the point where I question my life choices as to why I'm reading them 😀
High Enough by K.Flay (male version)
youtube
I used to like liquor to get me inspired
But you look so beautiful, my new supplier
I used to like smoking to stop all the thinking
But I found a different buzz
Of course, Mozart wanted more than just having fun on the side. He wanted an actual relationship. So when he met the extremely talented and beautiful soprano, Aloysia Weber, he fell head over heels with her like the himbo he was. He then dedicated himself to being her music teacher for the next few years.
Beggin by Måneskin
I need you to understand
Tried so hard to be your man
The kind of man you want in the end
Only then can I begin to live again
Now we don't know for sure if Aloysia truly loved Mozart. If she was interested in him or she just saw him as a friend, a music coach, or a one-way ticket to fame. Information is scarce and there's not a lot of letters present.
My edgy bitch ass self likes to think it was a one-sided relationship. With Mozart secretly (prolly not secretly cos this himbo won't know the word "subtle" even if it hit him on the head) trying to woo Aloysia and her just not having it.
Alrighty Aphrodite by Peach Pit
If I'd known you sold on maybe
I'd've let you waste another guy
Well, alrighty, Aphrodite
Go whip that red for other eyes
But then, something tragic happened to our boi Mozart. He parted with Aloysia for some time to go to Paris on the commands of his father. But whoops, Mozart's mom hit the bucket and Mozart travelled back to Salzburg with a heavy heart and an empty pocket. (Since he didn't do well financially in Paris)
On his way back in Mannheim, he's reunited with Aloysia! But guess what, she's already married to another guy! And to pour a bucket of saltwater on the wound, she pretended to no longer know him and possibly even laughed AT him!
Mozart was furious and accordingly, he sat down at the piano and sang in a loud voice "The one who doesn’t want me can lick my arse.”
Stay tuned for the next episode of the Bachlorette.
Je Dors Sur Des Roses by Mozart l'opéra rock
Je dors sur des roses
Qui signent ma croix
La douleur s'impose
Mais je n'ose pas
Manquer de toi
I sleep on roses
who sign my cross
The pain imposes itself
But I dare not
miss you
After the angry heartbreak however, will always come the sad emo phase. Mozart be living that "5 stages of grief" life and he's gonna sing it in a french ballad because damnit, he's constipated with emotions.
Cornerstone by Artic Monkeys
I saw your sister in the Cornerstone
On the phone to the middle man
When I saw that she was on her own
I thought she might understand
After Mozart unceremoniously got fired from his job in Salzburg, (that's a whole other story) he went to Vienna and moved back in with the Webers. Which I don't get because his ex is literally 3 feet away from him but go off I guess. But this time, it's not Aloysia that catches his attention, it's Constanze! Her younger sister!
As if this situation can't get even more awkward. Mozart, what the actual fu-
I'd like to imagine that Mozart was drinking his sorrows away and going back to his old habits of partying all night long. Before he met Constanze and soon found a lifelong friend...
This Side of Paradise by Coyote Theory
Lonely (are you lonely?)
Passion is crashing as we speak
You seem so lonely (are you lonely?)
You're the ground my feet won't reach
So if you're lonely, darling you're glowing
If you're lonely, come be lonely with me
Ok this is where it gets a bit headcanon-y. Constanze was the middle child of her family, and middle children are lonely bitches.
(This is a joke, pls don't come for me 🙃)
You know who else is lonely and is need of a friend who isn't dead or abandoned? Mozart! So maybe, these two dorks bonded over their mutual loneliness and eventually, they started dating.
Send Them Off! by Bastille
Desdemona, won't you liberate me?
When I'm haunted by your ancient history
Close these green eyes and watch over as I sleep
Through my darkest of dreams
But uh oh! Trouble's at sea and it's jealousy! The couple broke up for a while when Mozart found out Constanze permitted another man to measure her calves in a parlor game. In other words, she showed her knees??!! IN THIS CHRISTIAN HOUSEHOLD.
This song is based on Shakespeare's play, "Othello" and how Othello thinks his wife, Desdemona is cheating on him. He refers to jealousy as a "green-eyed monster". And fun fact, Mozart actually read Shakespeare and it's been speculated that the former might have drawn inspiration from some of the plays in his operas.
So yes, even though Mozart's a scat loving party going freak, he's going to be cultured doing it.
Make You Mine by PUBLIC
Well, I have called you darlin' and I'll say it again, again
So kiss me 'til I'm sorry, babe, that you are gone and I'm a mess
And I'll hurt you and you'll hurt me and we'll say things we can't repeat
Some time later, Mozart and Constanze reconciled and agreed to move on from this incident. Because petty fights aren't worth jeopardising a relationship and these two braincells actually love each other.
I Hear A Symphony by Cody Fry
I used to hear a simple song
That was until you came along
You took my broken melody
And now I hear a symphony
Just like any good heteronormative couple in the 18th century, they eventually got married! And what better song to end off this playlist is one with a full on orchestral accompaniment in it. I mean come on, we're talking bout Mozart. He's what a lot of people think of when they hear classical music.
