was talking abt this with @kowai-kabuki-tanuki the other day but like WHERE are the action items??? Trying to volunteer - like actually volunteer constructively (be it reading to kids or hopping on calls with government officials or showing up to a school board meeting as part of a group or even picking up some litter at the park) is like trying to find a needle in the haystack of endless fundraising and "awareness" campaigns.

I know I'm not the first to notice this but like wow every website i go to the "get involved" tab or page is just different ways to donate or to sign up for email lists that purportedly will tell me about events "in my area" - and those events are almost always fundraising events or like 2 hr rallies or what have you.

Like you don't understand I'm trying to find people who will make school lunches with me to give to kids who have lunch debt. I'm trying to find the thing where we all get to chat together about the best strategies we can deploy to ensure the county doesn't make evictions easier etc.

I'm tired of the campaigning!!!!! Like let's DO something I don't want to uselessly mill around in front of the supreme court feeling angry!! And when i go to the local abortion org and sign up for escort training i uhhh ACTUALLY WANT THEM TO SCHEDULE IT!!!!!!!

Look fundraising is important and awareness is important and they are both necessary arms of any real nonprofit org and I'm not getting down on them - but I also NEED to be able to join an action-based volunteer group that won't require me to give up my job for a year and is also not like. affiliated with a church or smthn.

A while back, there was a manga page explaining that Izuku does a "gear-shifting" hand motion while using his Gear Shift quirk in order to help visualize the move. And the person who taught him to do this? None other than All Might, king of "visualization" exercises.

Of course, my very first thought upon seeing this was "ALL MIGHT GAVE IZUKU DRIVING LESSONS." And so I drew upon my own many tragic experiences learning to drive stick shift.

Donn the Docker

I put him into actual clothes he’d wear for work instead of just having his tits out in the open LMAO

In my hc he’s best friends with Wren and Zephyr and whenever she’s at the docks, they go drinking together.

He regularly gets into fistfights with other dock workers if they annoy him but they still consider each other family - as a kid Donn wanted to become a pirate to sail away from DoL town, but he never quite escaped it.

Donn actually spent a bunch of time in prison after turning 18 - through Bailey’s deal with the guards, his sentence was shortened to 5 years despite the counts of assaults, resisted arrests, armed robbery and thefts he had (Infamous for Crime and Combat atp). Naturally he didn’t finish school, and pissed Bailey off massively because he was behind bars for so long (how dare he).

Donn works pretty much every other job - his main work is at the docks loading and unloading cargo, get extra cash when trafficking humans as one does in DoL, help Wren smuggle his goods or jump in as Bailey’s goon, or play as one of the “actors” for Briar’s show. As long as the cash is right, you can get him to do almost any job.

He doesn’t talk about the fact he used to be an orphan, and his bursts of kindness are arbitrarily random - it heavily depends on his mood, how sober he is, if he likes the color of your shirt and if the humidity is right, he might actually patch you up and send you on your merry way dropping you off somewhere safer when you get sold to the docks.

After he participated whipping you.

But hey, at least he’s nice enough to not drop you into the ocean afterwards.

generally i think tim is the kind of person who just saves contacts in his phone by name. kon meanwhile is the kind of person who HAS to have a fun name for everyone he loves. when they start dating, you know it's serious the day kon changes his own name in tim's phone to "babycakes 💖🔥" and tim rolls his eyes but doesn't change it back.

As part of my Peter Krause binge, I tried to find as many episodes of the 1990-91 skit TV show Carol & Company as I could, and may or may not have saved the mp4 files to google drive.

Some episodes are missing, but the ones I was able to preserve are an absolute gold mine.
