Alastor, Vox, and Smiles
Sooo I noticed in Episode 2 when we're introduced to Vox's character for the first time he spends a considerable amount of time forcibly putting on a smile when around other people.
For the cameras
Then for Velvette
And then when trying to calm Valentino down
Now that we have confirmation that Vox and Alastor used to be friends* because of the torn photo, Alastor's speech to Charlie about smiling to put up a facade for various reasons just highlights the similarities between Alastor and Vox. Almost like they have the same philosophy and tactics when it comes to manipulating those around them, huh?
(*I say "friends" because you don't just have pictures taken with mere "acquaintances", tear the so-called acquaintance out of the picture when mad, and then keep the torn photo for years and years. Vox didn't even throw away the torn part, the whole point of tearing someone out of a picture is to get rid of them and he straight up kept Alastor's torn half of the picture lol. And I don't think they were ever business partners because Alastor said "no" to "joining Vox's team". Plus, I highly doubt Vox would be as vehemently pissed off at Alastor if they were just acquaintances... So I feel like they were at the very least friends. Maybe even more than friends...)
Alastor is undoubtedly better than Vox at maintaining the facade, but still... I just think it's interesting that they share such a similar philosophy for interacting with others. Add to it that Alastor clearly knows how to press Vox's buttons (heh) so well that he can send him into a blackout and it's just more and more evident that they used to be close at one point. Close enough for Alastor to teach Vox some of his tricks for manipulation or Vox to pick up the same habits.

Anyway, if I had a nickel for every time a series had six installments that gradually escalated in ridiculousness, only for the sixth installment to end with a universe reboot and the seventh installment to pick up in a new universe where alternate versions of the original characters now exist in the distant past, I'd have two nickels.
One of those series is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The other is Riverdale

Ella and Tadius from Cinderella's Castle give very similar energy to Curt and Tatiana from Spies Are Forever. Both not interested in each other romantically but are absolutely best friends and probably kiss each other on the cheek when they meet up and everyone sorta thinks they're together and they never deny it but they know they're not together and never will be

The way this whole scene was so sweet and validating and just everything from a characterization and relationship standpoint. Rayla, being prepared to leave the Starscraper without even asking about the quasar diamonds, being so hesitant and overwhelmed to even reach for or grasp at something she Wants, and Callum being so steady and patient and loving. Placing his hand over hers and guiding her hand to the diamonds. It's okay to want things. It's okay to have what you want. It's okay to take them.
His encouraging little nod, the way he gives space so that she can hold them, the way Rayla repeats "You knew," as she re-contextualizes his previous behaviour—staying up all night figuring out the spell, wanting to go on the quest in the first place to a degree, being incredibly frustrated when he couldn't figure out the rune spell at first—with new clarity that it was for her.
The way Callum says what we've always seen and known out loud, but so gently and with so much love. He knows her, knows her so well, her selfless heart and kind nature and how routinely she puts herself second, that she would've refused to go if she knew it would benefit her. She never does anything for herself, and Callum would do anything for her, my beloved. Including and up to why she left and how they're moving forward since.
And Rayla once again being shocked and a little overwhelmed (same girl) that anyone could or would love her this much this well. It's okay to want things, and I will do everything in my power to give you chances to have them. I'll give you everything you want and deserve if you just let me.
Callum thinking she really might even be slightly mad because she agreed to saving people without the full context (that it'd also let her save her family) but of course Rayla just hugs him with gratefulness and love, finally smiling now that the shock and overwhelm of it all has processed.
And if I cry every time what then?
