"As a Deaf man, Adam Munder has long been advocating for communication rights in a world that chiefly caters to hearing people.
The Intel software engineer and his wife — who is also Deaf — are often unable to use American Sign Language in daily interactions, instead defaulting to texting on a smartphone or passing a pen and paper back and forth with service workers, teachers, and lawyers.
It can make simple tasks, like ordering coffee, more complicated than it should be.
But there are life events that hold greater weight than a cup of coffee.
Recently, Munder and his wife took their daughter in for a doctor’s appointment — and no interpreter was available.
To their surprise, their doctor said: “It’s alright, we’ll just have your daughter interpret for you!” ...
That day at the doctor’s office came at the heels of a thousand frustrating interactions and miscommunications — and Munder is not isolated in his experience.
“Where I live in Arizona, there are more than 1.1 million individuals with a hearing loss,” Munder said, “and only about 400 licensed interpreters.”
In addition to being hard to find, interpreters are expensive. And texting and writing aren’t always practical options — they leave out the emotion, detail, and nuance of a spoken conversation.
ASL is a rich, complex language with its own grammar and culture; a subtle change in speed, direction, facial expression, or gesture can completely change the meaning and tone of a sign.
“Writing back and forth on paper and pen or using a smartphone to text is not equivalent to American Sign Language,” Munder emphasized. “The details and nuance that make us human are lost in both our personal and business conversations.”
His solution? An AI-powered platform called Omnibridge.
“My team has established this bridge between the Deaf world and the hearing world, bringing these worlds together without forcing one to adapt to the other,” Munder said.
Trained on thousands of signs, Omnibridge is engineered to transcribe spoken English and interpret sign language on screen in seconds...
“Our dream is that the technology will be available to everyone, everywhere,” Munder said. “I feel like three to four years from now, we're going to have an app on a phone. Our team has already started working on a cloud-based product, and we're hoping that will be an easy switch from cloud to mobile to an app.” ...
At its heart, Omnibridge is a testament to the positive capabilities of artificial intelligence. "
-via GoodGoodGood, October 25, 2024. More info below the cut!
To test an alpha version of his invention, Munder welcomed TED associate Hasiba Haq on stage.
“I want to show you how this could have changed my interaction at the doctor appointment, had this been available,” Munder said.
He went on to explain that the software would generate a bi-directional conversation, in which Munder’s signs would appear as blue text and spoken word would appear in gray.
At first, there was a brief hiccup on the TED stage. Haq, who was standing in as the doctor’s office receptionist, spoke — but the screen remained blank.
“I don’t believe this; this is the first time that AI has ever failed,” Munder joked, getting a big laugh from the crowd. “Thanks for your patience.”
After a quick reboot, they rolled with the punches and tried again.
Haq asked: “Hi, how’s it going?”
Her words popped up in blue.
Munder signed in reply: “I am good.”
His response popped up in gray.
Back and forth, they recreated the scene from the doctor’s office. But this time Munder retained his autonomy, and no one suggested a 7-year-old should play interpreter.
Munder’s TED debut and tech demonstration didn’t happen overnight — the engineer has been working on Omnibridge for over a decade.
“It takes a lot to build something like this,” Munder told Good Good Good in an exclusive interview, communicating with our team in ASL. “It couldn't just be one or two people. It takes a large team, a lot of resources, millions and millions of dollars to work on a project like this.”
After five years of pitching and research, Intel handpicked Munder’s team for a specialty training program. It was through that backing that Omnibridge began to truly take shape...
“Our dream is that the technology will be available to everyone, everywhere,” Munder said. “I feel like three to four years from now, we're going to have an app on a phone. Our team has already started working on a cloud-based product, and we're hoping that will be an easy switch from cloud to mobile to an app.”
In order to achieve that dream — of transposing their technology to a smartphone — Munder and his team have to play a bit of a waiting game. Today, their platform necessitates building the technology on a PC, with an AI engine.
“A lot of things don't have those AI PC types of chips,” Munder explained. “But as the technology evolves, we expect that smartphones will start to include AI engines. They'll start to include the capability in processing within smartphones. It will take time for the technology to catch up to it, and it probably won't need the power that we're requiring right now on a PC.”
At its heart, Omnibridge is a testament to the positive capabilities of artificial intelligence.
But it is more than a transcription service — it allows people to have face-to-face conversations with each other. There’s a world of difference between passing around a phone or pen and paper and looking someone in the eyes when you speak to them.
It also allows Deaf people to speak ASL directly, without doing the mental gymnastics of translating their words into English.
“For me, English is my second language,” Munder told Good Good Good. “So when I write in English, I have to think: How am I going to adjust the words? How am I going to write it just right so somebody can understand me? It takes me some time and effort, and it's hard for me to express myself actually in doing that. This technology allows someone to be able to express themselves in their native language.”
Ultimately, Munder said that Omnibridge is about “bringing humanity back” to these conversations.
“We’re changing the world through the power of AI, not just revolutionizing technology, but enhancing that human connection,” Munder said at the end of his TED Talk.
“It’s two languages,” he concluded, “signed and spoken, in one seamless conversation.”"

Walrider
Tumblr media
Image © deviantArt user NanFe, accessed at her gallery here
[Sponsored by @coldbloodassassin, and my last sponsored post! The walrider is yet another monster in the subgenre of "from a video game I've never played", and in this case never even heard of before being tasked with this: Outlast. It has a very complicated backstory, involving Nazi mad science and corrupt mental institutions, so I streamlined it a bit while retaining the original flavor.]
Walrider CR 18 CE Construct A faint blur appears, an outline of a human form moving through space. It moves with impossible fluidity, as if its joints were more a mental construct than a physical one. The outline lacks a lower jaw entirely, and the fingers are longer than those of a typical human
The walrider is a bizarre construct, a cloud of tiny nanomachines confined to a humanoid shape but able to take over the bodies of others. The first walrider was created in an attempt to create a nanotechnology lab out of the body of a human test subject. The process drove the victim insane in the process of completely disassembling them, and the walrider created possessed a thoroughly warped and thoroughly evil psyche. The walrider still possess an affinity for the mad, preferring to use them as hosts. Those whose perceptions of reality are distorted are even less likely to understand the nature of the walrider’s attacks, and are less likely to be believed if and when they can report them. The damage the walrider deals when scouring the mortal mind for information typically leaves their victim mentally broken.
The walrider can enter a victim not to possess them but merely to take them apart from the inside, and they enjoy using this power in the open as a show of strength. If they cannot possess a host, or if they are expelled through remove disease or a similar effect, they simply beat their enemies to death. They can control their own solidity as a matter of course, being strong enough to punch through concrete when they want to, and then being so diffuse that weapons pass right through them. The walrider is nearly invisible, and uses hit and run attacks in combination with their great stealth to wear enemies down if they are capable of fighting back.
Due to the highly unusual nature of their origin, the walrider may be a unique creature. If it is not, it is highly unlikely that they would cooperate with each other, instead viewing each other as competition. The walrider is a megalomaniac who views itself as divine, and is actively creating a cult of worshipers who view it as the next stage in human evolution. If this cult grows large enough, the walrider could become truly divine, or attract the attention of a competitor who is.

Ecology Environment any Organization solitary or ride (1 plus 1 possessed host) Treasure standard
Special Abilities Infest (Ex) As a standard action, a walrider can infest a corporeal creature adjacent to it. If the creature fails a DC 25 Fortitude save, the walrider moves inside of its body. A walrider can either remain in the creature it infests harmlessly, as a riding possession spell, or it can start to disassemble its host from the inside, dealing 12d6 points of damage a round. A host reduced to 0 hit points while infested by a walrider is reduced to dust and destroyed (similar to disintegrate). A walrider infesting a host can be expelled by any effect that cures disease, with a disease save equal to this ability’s DC. If not expelled, the walrider can remain inside the host indefinitely. The save DC is Constitution-based and includes a +2 racial bonus. Madness (Ex) Walriders use their Charisma modifier on Will saves instead of their Wisdom modifier, and are immune to insanity and confusion effects. Only a miracle or wish can remove a walrideer's madness. If this occurs, the walrider gains 6 points of Wisdom and loses 6 points of Charisma. Mad Insight (Su) A walrider gains an insight bonus to Armor Class equal to its Charisma modifier. Many In One (Ex) A walrider absorbs the memories of intelligent creatures that it possesses. A walrider that has eaten one or more sapient creatures gains a number of bonus feats equal to its Charisma modifier (6 for the average specimen). It gains a racial bonus to all Knowledge checks equal to ½ its Hit Dice (+11 for the average specimen), and can make Knowledge checks untrained. Whenever it possesses a sapient creature, it may swap out one of its bonus feats and/or one of its languages for one known by the creature it has possessed. Possess (Su) A walrider can possess a living creature it has infested. Unless the creature succeeds a DC 25 Will save, the walrider takes control of its body, as per a greater possession spell with an indefinite duration. A creature that successfully saves is immune to that walrider’s possession for the next 24 hours. At any time while possessing a host, the walrider can attempt to scan its mind, as per a mind probe spell. This possession is taxing to a host; every day the host is possessed, it must succeed a DC 25 Will save or take 2d4 Wisdom drain. A creature that would be reduced to 0 Wisdom is instead reduced to 1 Wisdom and gains the moral insanity madness. The save DC is Constitution based, and includes a +2 racial bonus to the DC. Susceptible to Mind-Influencing Effects (Ex) Unlike most constructs, a walrider can be affected by mind-influencing effects. Swarm-like (Ex) A walrider is comprised of thousands of nanites. Although it is a Medium sized creature, it is immune to spells and effects that affect a single target, damage from physical weapons, critical hits and sneak attacks. A walrider can move through cracks and spaces small enough for a Fine creature. A walrider takes 150% damage from area of effect spells and effects. Transparent (Ex) A walrider is nearly invisible. Attacks made against it by creatures that need to see have a 50% miss chance, and the walrider gains a +20 racial bonus to Stealth checks. This is not dispelled by invisibility purge or see invisibility. Spells like faerie fire and glitterdust reduce the miss chance to 20%, but do not remove it completely.

Hudson and Rex Episodes
It has come to my attention that Hudson and Rex episodes are not easily accessible to a lot of people, despite it being broadcasted in many countries. I was looking for a place to archive the episodes myself in good quality as a backup but up until recently, the 1080p rips were huge so it was an impossible feat. I finally found some mkv ones that are not as ginormous as the others, and I'd like to share them with the fandom.
Disclaimer: I did not do these rips or the transcoding. I haven't checked the episodes one by one to see if there are any faults with them, just a few as random tests, I also watched a few, and they were all good, subtitles were working and in sync, etc.
What you need to know before downloading:
The files are in mkv format and Mega, the host I've uploaded them on, does NOT have a player to play MKVs online. The links are for downloading, or alternatively transferring to your own Mega account, not for online streaming.
The video codec is HEVC, which is why the size of the episodes is not huge. That might affect some older computers which may not have this codec, though. Read about HEVC here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Efficiency_Video_Coding and if it's missing, you can add the HEVC codec.
Same goes for your tv if you choose to play them in one (although you probably can't add the codec there). I generally recommend downloading one episode as a test. If it plays in your device, they all should play in that device.
Most of the files have forced English subtitles on them. I am unfamiliar with forced subtitles in general. You may have trouble removing them on a tv, maybe. I've tested them only using VLC on my computer and they can appear and disappear just fine when I choose so like normal subs do. Forced subtitles are not hard-coded subtitles.
Episodes S01E01 - S06E06 were all transcoded by one team as it was a pack, the rest by another, as the first pack was uploaded during this winter hiatus and there was no other upload by the first team for the rest. I only see small differences between the episodes, not worthy of a mention. I've kept the original file names, so you will know when the teams change if you're interested in that (team name is the last input on the title of the file).
The size of all the episodes in total is around 92GB. When you go to download them, each file will also display the size of it.
How to download (skip this if you've downloaded from Mega before):
Even if you have set your browser to ask you where to download the file, Mega will download the file you requested entirely before asking you were to save it. It's how their cloud service works. You don't need to download anything else to get these files, just right-click a file and click Download, and then Standard Download when the submenu opens. You do not need to download the Mega Desktop App, unless you want to download the entire folder at once as a ZIP file. I don't know how many concurrent downloads a free user gets on Mega, or limitations regarding the GBs per day on free users.
Mega suggests users download using Chrome or a Chromium based browser, however downloading the files one by one should work in any browser.
If you have a download manager, just load these folders in it and it will do the job better than your browser.
If you attempt this with a smartphone, then I highly suggest you download the Mega mobile app. I don't think the files will download to your phone otherwise.
Links:
These lead to each season's folder of episodes. Only copy the link below, do not copy the season identifier at the start of each line. Make sure you copy the entire link especially the S4 one which apparently continues in a second line.
S1: https://mega.nz/folder/1ZMTlbpY#DqS2V2KKgeajbINzx8c6Pg
S2: https://mega.nz/folder/kZE1yTTC#p29HrvXgahGXW-0rlzx77Q
S3: https://mega.nz/folder/0Bt3gBJL#hcX7tjU1GScmprTc0nkc0w

S7: https://mega.nz/folder/kJlEFCLJ#exM6rRVhPtNSULhvsjHWZg
About Season 7 rips: I will upload the first rip that is up so that we won't waste time, this is usually a HDTV rip by the release team SYNCOPY (so basically the episode as seen on tv without ads, usually with the promo, in 720p, no subtitles - subtitles will be added on the same folder in separate link, if any). Later, this will be replaced with 1080p links. Please, check the link periodically to find more links. The goal is to have 1080p Webrips around 1GB for each episode.
Other information:
I'll try to keep the links up as long as I can but I suggest keeping your own copies. Mega does not offer that amount of space for free, so this is a paid cloud service. I'm not looking for anyone to participate on the upkeep but there might be a day when these links will be taken down for any number of reasons. Personally, I don't trust the cloud. Keep local copies of anything you don't want to lose.
If these are reported, I will not be reuploading them and I assume that reporting may also take down my account with them so I will probably also not be able to be a paying customer of their service either way. So, keep the sharing of the links within the fandom. I will not tag this post, but I highly encourage reblogging it to spread the info.
I suggest that anyone who wants to share this with a lot of people should make their own cloud backup. The purpose of me uploading these links is, ironically, not piracy. The purpose is to make the episodes easily accessible to fans.
I will not upload these in other cloud services, if anyone wants to go upload these in google drive, for example, I'm not willing to risk it but of course, anyone else willing to do it is welcome to.
If anyone has questions or concerns, I'll be glad to answer them. Not everyone is familiar with hosting sites, but this is easier than a torrent. I'm sure I've forgotten things which to me may seem simple.

any tips or stuff youve learned along the way on making a headworld "series bible" of sorts?
Tumblr media
discord categories & channels (ft. the old working title of Where Hate Rules because i forgot to change it). i have a discord server with just me in it where I have a channel category for each writing project.
scroll down for a spreadsheet data blast
General - image dump, place to throw in new ideas so I don't forget them, plot points, etc
Worldbuilding - this is for stuff that's set in stone, not vague concepts. maps, diagrams, etc (i have a lot of diesel engine block diagrams and celestial illustrations in there as well as every holy beast)
Character log - literally just a list of characters. put in every character in the same format (i.e Name, Age, Profession, Physical Description, Hometown)
Writing Place - for prose. I write in libreoffice but when I'm out of the house on mobile or just doing test paragraphs they go here because I'd rather kill myself than use google docs ever. Each new piece of writing has an easily-searched title.
After this I have a channel for every main character. In here I put art relating to them, backstory, motivations, any random thoughts I have about them and so on. You don't wanna see how many of these I have for my Inver channel category lmaoo.
No, there are better ways to visualise Inver's absolutely massive series bible!
Discord is obviously only useful if you're online and I don't like storing so much shit in the cloud. And what if I need rows AND columns?
Tumblr media
man i love spreadsheets. zoom in and get a load of that sweet sweet fossit guide.
this is me kissing microsoft excel with tongue to produce a datasheet about the modern-day ranger barracks in Inver (year 2017, Pascal's time) but any spreadsheet program will do. Even (gag) google sheets. I made this because in the modern era, rangers are ecologists! They participate in land management as well as faery relations.
Tumblr media
Okay so. First thing you want to do is freeze the top row so that it remains in place when you scroll. Then populate the boxes. Here, each ranger organisation (column 1) is given its own bg colour based on its main tartan colour so visual reference is easy. The characters tab is similar - frozen top row with basic categories, then a colour-coded list of rangers.
I have one of these for 1800s Inver as well! Luckily I only had to do the habitats once since they didn't change much over the years.
Hopefully that helps?? Basically: if you're lazy and need to generate ideas and data on the go, pick discord. If you want to be more specific, make a spreadsheet or 6.

Right, chapter 8 is done! Something much shorter and lighter than the last one, as they'll hopefully mostly be from here to the end of the story. Enjoy!
~~Little Flame, Chapter 8~~
Over the next few weeks, word got around to their remaining friends of Frank's request. There were of course the murmured apologies for bounds overstepped, but he was quick to assure them that it really was alright and all was forgiven. He meant it too. Now that their initial bout of anger had long since passed, Frank felt almost embarassed to have gotten *so* worked up about it.
Oddly enough, one of the people most upset to have made them upset was apparently Howdy. He'd been quite enjoying the recent upswing of their friendship, and "would hate to know I'd done something to ruin it." To make up for that, all kinds of baby supplies were brought into the shop for Frank and Eddie to choose between, the caterpillar assuring them that any products they didn't buy would be shipped right back or kept waiting in storage.
"Wow, quite the selection you got here," Eddie said as the two walked in. A row of freshly-constructed cribs stood side by side in the widest space the shop had to offer. Behind them were neatly organized shelves of diapers, bottles, tins of formula & pastel onesies. And in the middle of it all stood Howdy himself, looking proud as could be.
"Yep! Spared no expense. Your kids deserve the best after all, and that's exactly what they'll get here at Howdy's Place." It was his usual sales-pitch talk, but underneath there was also a genuine sense of love. Being able to provide for his friends and their families was Howdy's greatest joy in life, and even though he'd yet to meet them he was clearly keen on showering the child with gifts.
Frank chuckled, and set about testing the strength of one of the cribs. "What do think of this one love? It seems pretty sturdy, and the slats aren't too far apart."
Eddie considered it for a moment, looking the thing over carefully. Then shook his head as he pressed down on to the mattress. "Too firm, little guy needs somethin' softer. Don't wanna mess their bones up!"
"Not too soft though," Frank countered. "Babies need head & back support as well."
"How about this one then?" Howdy offered, gesturing over to one tall and elegant in white-painted wood. "Extra storage underneath, soft foam top layer on the mattress with a sturdy base, and it even has built in slots for mobile & monitor!"
This time both of them disagreed. "Far too fancy," Frank said. "And the height's all wrong. Let's take a look at the others before we make any decisions."
And so it went, going one by one through the different beds in search of a perfect match for their home. Yet in each one, no matter how perfect they seemed at first, there was always some trouble too much to bear. This one's slats were too wide, that one wobbled on its uneven legs, this other would be so close to perfect except it looked so terribly ugly.
"AUGGHH!" Frank groaned in frustration, burying his face in their hands. "Why is this so difficult? It's the first choice, and we can't even decide on that." He sighed deeply and shook his head. "We're no good to be parents."
"Aww, don't say that darlin'," Eddie reassured. "We're doin' fine, just...hit a little snag is all."
Frank snorted and glared at their husband through his fingers. "We would've already been done by now if you'd just agreed with me at the start."
"Hey now, you saw yourself it wasn't right! I'm just doing what's best for 'em!"
"And I'm not??" Frank snapped.
"HEY!" Howdy shouted above the rising cloud of tension, his upper arms gently keeping the two at a distance. Thinking quickly, he pried the tall white crib's deluxe mattress free, then swapped it out with the one from the first frame, internally sighing with relief as it fit near perfectly onto the shorter bed.
Gesturing proudly now with all four hands, he declared, "There you go! That should solve all your problems, so there's no more need for fighting."
Frank and Eddie stared silently at the newly re-mattressed crib for a moment. Then a nervous chuckle rumbled up from the grey, spilling over into genuine laughter from both. "That's perfect!" Frank said. "Thank you." He then leaned against their mate's shoulder and sighed. "I'm sorry for yelling at you, Eddie. You don't deserve it when you're just trying to be a good dad."
Putting an arm around them, Eddie snuggled back. "It's ok, I know ya didn't mean it. This is stressful business, and we're all feelin' a lot right now. It's a lucky thing Howdy's here to help us out though, right?"
"Of course!" Howdy smiled warmly. "It's what I'm here for. And I really do mean it- I want the best for all of you."
They ended up buying that first bed in its refurbished state, along with several boxes worth of the other supplies, a few toys and some clothes as well. Howdy helped them carry it all back to their house, and as he watched the two chat happily over their armfuls of bags, he couldn't but smile. Yes, this was how it should be. All his friends were were safe and happy. Their little town was so full of warmth and life and love, so ready to welcome its newest resident. Yeah, he thought with a soft chuckle. Things really are gonna turn out alright.

I was thinking about how the situation with Caspapa in House really undermines Edelgard's narrative. In White Clouds, he and Edelgard have a secret meeting despite Caspar saying that they don't get along. When Edelgard is crowned emperor and declares war, he supports her and brings the army with him. And then when you play Flower and defeat Claude, it's revealed that she promised him control of the Alliance territories in exchange for his support. It mirrors the transactional nature of Edelgard's relationship with her supporters; with the Agarthans it's to take out Rhea, with the nobility it's that they can keep their titles in exchange for support while commoners have the promise of upward mobility. But this is also countered by Edelgard's ulterior motives, she's going to wipe out the Agarthans, strip the nobility of their power and all while removing safety nets as she oppresses the commoners. Leopold joining her in exchange for the Alliance is ultimately short-sighted on his part.
The Bergliez family don't really have the best showing others. We have Leopold above fighting a war for his own profit not to mention neglecting Caspar in Houses in proper in order to focus on his heir, and it can be noted that while he would sacrifice himself for his men the Imperial army takes no prisioners, there's Randolf who also fights for his own advancement, Caspar's brother does nothing because he feels he's secure in his own position, Fleche seeks revenge, Grandpa wanted to pass over Leopold to favor his son with the wife he liked, and then you have Caspar leading the Imperial army in conquering territories after the war while they're out of control according to the Japanese script.
But then I was thinking about how Caspar is, alongside Ferdinand, one of the hardest units in the game to recruit due to their B supports being locked behind the timeskip. They can't be recruited in Hopes to AG or GW either, and lose their paralogues in Flower. And Hopes revealed that their families both have the same Crest, Seteth's. And if you think about it, Ferdinand joins Edelgard in hopes of restoring his House after she strips them of power, meanwhile Caspar just sides with his family and is depicted as giving into bloodlust rather than thinking. The Aegir family is also the earliest example we know of of the Imperial nobility's decline, with him challenging the Emperor to a duel with the throne as a prize.
But then I think about their supports and how they play into it. Ferdinand's sees him realize that it's not just about glory to his family name, but doing something not based on putting his name in the history books. However that's in conflict with him joining Edelgard in order to restore his family, a selfish motive (also like that if he's fighting her, he says he rejected being her puppet). But in Caspar's, it's about how during White Clouds and how he went after a shady group of criminals and got some knights killed in the process. Byleth says at the time he shouldn't have done that, but Caspar says that children were in danger so he acted. He ultimately comes to not regret this, as his actions were motived by the safety of those kids and he would have regretted it if they had gotten hurt.
Now think about White Clouds, where the Agarthans are going around doing all their evil deeds and Caspar wants to take them out. Caspar's support would align more with him deciding to fight Edelgard and the Agarthans over what they did there, holding them accountable for their actions at the time and stopping them. His paralogue is about how he can't just let the Death Knight go and escape justice for his actions, while at the same time serves as a test of his strength. If Caspar fights Edelgard, he then goes off on his own, doesn't take over his family titles and jumps in whenever he sees people in trouble. The translation paints that ending in a more negative light than the Japanese, labelling the others involved as his victims, while at the same time making him out to be a more able commander in his Flower endings where he begins invading other countries for Edelgard.
Meanwhile, Ferdinand's paralogue reveals how his father was a scapegoat for Arundel's actions and pushing how extreme Edelgard's rule is. People are starving and being conscripted against their will. People who resist are executed, whereas Flower talks about the unrest in the Empire. We also know that there are some resistance groups fighting Edelgard's rule, Caspar joining one of them. He also exemplifies what people are supposed to do when faced hadou, overthrow the leader which is seen as justice, though this was altered in the translation to make him seem like he's not thinking and just following orders.
These two characters are connected, both linked to Seteth blessing their family. Seteth's crest is tied to the Justice arcana, so if you think about it like that both of them are linked to the concept of justice as well. With Caspar,it's about punishing evil, not trying to justify it. That when you see someone doing something wrong, do something about it rather than some form of wait and see. You saw the Agarthans and Flame Emperor do wrong in White Clouds, you should act on that.
Ferdinand arc is about doing the right things for the sake of the people even if he won't be rewarded for it. And if you think about that theme, really, it's calling out the concept of meritocracy where people will work hard in order to be recognized. It makes the system one fuelled by selfish desires rather than actually helping out your fellow men, to put yourself above them just like how Ferdinand expresses in his support with Edelgard how the nobility are superior people because their upbringing pushed them to excel. Granted, we also see that Edelgard does not actually reward commoners for their contributions to the war, not even Byleth, showing how her reforms ultimately don't empower the people but simply empower her.
These two characters provide some of the deepest counters to Edelgard rhetoric and they're just so hard to unlock aside from playing the BE house. And the fact their paralogues aren't available to them in Flower should say something, just like Byleth's.
I also think there may be something between Bernie and Hanneman sharing Gamera's crest. Mainly how they both run away from the nobility in their own ways, finding their own means of retreat when the system is too much for them. Bernie ran to her room when the pressure of her father's wife training, Greg trying to sell her off for his own profit, was too much for her whereas Hanneman ran to his research following his sister's death after she was bred to death in order to try and produce Crested children. While both show the emphasis people put on Crests, they also show that having a Crest does not make you a leader on it's own. Hanneman left without issue, Bernie was never trained to be a leader just a submissive wife. And it reflects Indect leaving to chill in his lake.

In today's digital landscape, businesses are increasingly turning to AI-powered virtual assistants to streamline operations, enhance customer service, and boost productivity. AI agent development is at the forefront of this transformation, enabling companies to create intelligent, responsive, and highly efficient virtual assistants. In this blog, we will explore how to develop AI agents and leverage them for business success.
Tumblr media
Understanding AI Agents and Virtual Assistants
AI agents, or intelligent virtual assistants, are software programs that use artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing (NLP) to interact with users, automate tasks, and make decisions. These agents can be deployed across various platforms, including websites, mobile apps, and messaging applications, to improve customer engagement and operational efficiency.

Machine Learning (ML): Allows the assistant to improve over time based on user interactions.
Conversational AI: Facilitates human-like interactions.
Task Automation: Handles repetitive tasks like answering FAQs, scheduling appointments, and processing orders.
Integration Capabilities: Connects with CRM, ERP, and other business tools for seamless operations.
Steps to Develop an AI Virtual Assistant
1. Define Business Objectives
Before developing an AI agent, it is crucial to identify the business goals it will serve. Whether it's improving customer support, automating sales inquiries, or handling HR tasks, a well-defined purpose ensures the assistant aligns with organizational needs.
2. Choose the Right AI Technologies
Selecting the right technology stack is essential for building a powerful AI agent. Key technologies include:

Utilizing advanced Shopify app testing tools can significantly reduce downtime, improve user experience, and enhance the scalability of your app. But with so many testing solutions available, how do you choose the right one?
In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore the top Shopify app testing tools for 2024. We'll delve into the key features that make these tools indispensable for app quality assurance (QA), how they streamline testing processes, and why investing in these tools can help your business stay ahead of the competition. Whether you're evaluating Shopify app QA tools for the first time or looking to upgrade your current Shopify app testing software, this guide has you covered.
Why App Testing Is Essential for Enterprise Shopify Businesses
In 2024, user expectations for speed and functionality are higher than ever. This is a fan translation. Original text here.

Finally, using existing satellite bases as footholds, a new safe haven for humanity was born.
"To be a beacon of hope even amidst an invisible sea of ash."
With this wish in mind, the bases came to be known as "Ports".
As more and more Ports were built, those who had lost their homes were gradually taken in and protected, but...
The chaos in various regions had still not subsided completely. Coupled with the sloppy and hasty transfer to Ports, much of the technology monopolized by Fenrir had leaked.
Those not accepted into Ports and forced to live in fear of death clung to a glimmer of hope, using leaked technology to carry out aptitude tests in poorly maintained environments.
These aptitude tests resulted in a large number of casualties among the civilian population. At the same time, the growing number of unregulated God Eaters not under Gleipnir's control started to cause problems.
To resolve the situation, it was necessary to establish the development of AGEs as soon as possible.
However, even the second-generation AGE aptitude test targeting children had failed to produce stable results over the long term.
Taking advantage of the increase in unregulated God Eaters, Gleipnir set a high reward for any information regarding AGE development and internal information on the Ashlands.
A combination of factors had led to an outbreak of child hunting across northern Europe with no end in sight.
The loss of so many lives slowly but surely clouded regular God Eaters' sense of value for life.
But still.
Even now, finally, people could grasp hope.
After repeated second-generation experiments, we succeeded in developing the "P53-c Bias Factor", adjusted for use in the Ashlands.
Regular God Eaters, who had only been able to sit on their hands thus far, could now operate within the Ashlands.
The AGEs who had survived early aptitude tests had improved their skills as soldiers. Gleipnir could finally organize a unit tasked with conquering the Ashlands.
The "Anti-Ashland Armored Wall" developed during research into adaptive bias factor.
This was used in the construction of mobile fortresses called "Ash Crawlers".
The "Resonance Radar" was the culmination of Oracle communication technology perfected by my father.
With all preparations complete, Gleipnir announced the execution of the "First Ashlands Conquest Operation".
As Gleipnir's primary base of operations, Port Arrowhead continued undergoing expansion.
It was there that I now stood.
"Werner..."
Just before the operation began, I rushed to my lover.
Having been administered with P53-c bias factor, the one taking command of the Ashlands Conquest Operation was none other than him.
"Hilda... You came to see me off..."
It had been a long time since we last spoke like this.
Since the incident where the children from the facility had been forced to take the AGE aptitude test, we had gradually begun to see each other less and less.
"...How are the children in your care? Are they alright?"
"...Yes, thanks to you."
I now lived in a shelter where I took in orphans, including Amy, as well as children too young to take the AGE aptitude test.
Perhaps because Werner had helped arrange things, no one had come to ask me to hand them over.
Amy, almost as if in imitation of Iris, had begun to look out for the younger children. Her speech was also showing signs of improvement, little by little.
"They are precious lives that will live on into the future. With you, I am certain they will grow up happy and healthy."
Werner smiled gently, as though his words had come from the bottom of his heart.
"Werner, please be careful..."
"Of course. I'll make sure this operation is a success, and that they remember the AGEs we fight alongside are the true hope that will lead humanity. They aren't to be taken lightly."
Werner clenched his fists as he spoke, a fiery look in his eyes.
The operation would be broadcasted live. It was widely reported that the AGEs taking part in this battle were new heroes born out of countless sacrifices.
If this operation was successful, the treatment of AGEs would undoubtedly improve.
"Finally... The day of atonement has finally arrived. With this operation, I will set everything right."
"So then, you still..."
To repay the children who died...
"...It's time. Please wait for me, Hilda. I'll take everything back."
Werner's hand was on my shoulder as he spoke. Then he set off, his footsteps heavy.
I could only stare at his back as it receded into the distance.
The large fleet departed, heading for Fenrir HQ, swallowed up by the Ashlands.
My feet carried me to Governor-General Gadolin.
"Hilda..."
The control room was filled with countless large monitors.
Though it wasn't perfect, you could get a good look at the battlefield from here.
"Governor-General, I know this is a selfish request, but..."
"Are you prepared to see your loved ones on the battlefield?"
As the governor-general spoke, I couldn't help but clench my fists.
As if I'd ever wish to see such a sight.
But this was as close as I could be to him as he fought under an enormous pressure he couldn't hope to bear.
I leveled a determined gaze toward the governor-general.
"...I see. Very well. You may stay."
Was it just my imagination, or was his face tinged with an unfathomable sadness?
The operation had begun.
The route of the Ash Crawlers was cleared by the resonance radar.
Beacons were placed at safe relay points.
Sighs of admiration were exhaled as AGEs, red armlets shining on both arms, sliced through Aragami with such skill that it was hard to remember they were children.
Werner, leading the young heroes in their charge, seemed quite spirited as well, even through the monitor.
Without a doubt, Werner had been eagerly anticipating this bout.
He must have staked everything he had on this day.
The regular God Eaters seemed fired up as well, returning to combat for the first time after so long.
After so many sacrifices, God Eaters had once again united in the Ashlands.
One of the monitors showed people outside watching the live broadcast with bated breath.
The return of their heroes brought cheers from the spectators.
For a single moment, everyone shared a sense of unity, soaring through despair as they sought the same hope.
Then it happened.
"...! We're getting abnormal readings from the AGEs' vital signs! What is this...?"
The monitor showing the troops marching to the front lines detected something unusual.
"The AGEs' Oracle Cells are becoming extremely activated! These numbers... They're far greater than the armlets' control capabilities! What... It's spreading!"
In the chaotic control room, a single AGE was displayed on the monitors.
As their scream pierced the air that had been filled with hope, both of their armlets shattered.
The AGE's body was devoured by Oracle Cells from the inside out. In the blink of an eye, they transformed into something grotesque, letting out a terrifying roar.
Two, three... like ripples on a pond, the AGEs transformed into Aragami one after another and began running wild.
"All of the deployed AGEs are going berserk! All Ash Crawlers, cease operations immediately! If this continues...!"
I couldn't move a single muscle as the tragedy unfolded on the other side of the screen.
The AGEs that had undergone Aragami transformation had taken on an eerie appearance, shaped by the resentment of discarded children. With a ferociousness that could only be described as vengeful, they advanced on the regular God Eaters.
Within a matter of minutes, the entire unit was wiped out.
"...Werner?"
"Communications lost; status unknown!"
Fresh blood and a system error. The large monitors were all dyed a brilliant red.
The control room was filled with nothing but alarms and warning sounds. A great despair took hold.
"No..."
None of us could accept the reality before our eyes.
"...You can't be serious."
One of the regular God Eaters watching the broadcast spoke.
"This is supposed to be the hope of humanity? This is what so many of our comrades died to create?!"
"No... There's no way all our efforts produced monsters like this!"
Voices filled with doubt and hatred spread through the people, all directed toward AGEs.
The hearts of those who had been filled with hope just a few minutes ago.
They had taken on an ugly hue.
"...Father, can you hear me?"
At that moment, a heavy voice echoed through the control room.
Governor-General Gadolin, who had been silent up until this point, rose to his feet, as though being pulled by strings.
"I'm alive... All the rampaging AGEs... have been dealt with."
I gasped as the full weight of his words hit me.
The video feed still displayed nothing, but a voice that seemed to echo from the depths of hell continued to explain the situation with an eerie calm.
"My ship is still operational. I'll follow the beacons and return."
"Werner!"
I couldn't help but shout his name.
But he didn't respond.
After a silence that seemed to last for an eternity, communications were cut off.
A few hours later, a half-destroyed Ash Crawler returned to Arrowhead.
Werner, completely changed, descended from the ship alone.
His uniform was completely stained with blood. A cross-shaped wound marred his face. The fiery red of his hair was now mixed with the color of ash.
And finally, an additional red armlet adorned his left arm.
"...Welcome back, Werner."
Governor-General Gadolin was the first to greet Werner.
No other voices welcomed the hero's return, however.
Voices of accusation—laying blame for this historic defeat—echoed instead.
"...Enough."
Werner's voice, commanding as it was, was lost in the desolate rage.
"Werner... Did you take the AGE aptitude test?"
"...The only way to stop the transformed AGEs was to use their own God Arcs to slay them. ...Without the adaptive bias factor, there would have been no way for me to wield them all safely."
Werner's voice was horse as he spoke. As I listened, a trickle of tears rolled down my cheeks.
He had wished to save the AGEs more than anyone else.
And yet, to slay those very same AGEs, transformed into Aragami, he had been forced to become an AGE himself.
"Father, please... Put an end to this cycle that twists people's hearts."
Father and son locked gazes. An unyielding silence ensued.
Then—
"...My path won't change, Werner."
Hearing his father's words, Werner quietly closed his eyes.
"...In that case, I want nothing more to do with you."
As though he had reached his limit, Werner collapsed to the ground and lost consciousness.
I followed closely as he was carried away by the medics.
Only the governor-general remained, standing alone in the center of endless vitriol.
The cause of the AGEs going berserk was a lack of control on the part of the armlets.
The Oracle Cells of the AGEs, who possessed stronger combat and resonance abilities than previous God Eaters, had been activated beyond expectation by prolonged fighting within the Ashlands.
It was believed that the armlets' control had been disrupted, and the Oracle anomaly was transmitted through the Ashlands, causing a chain reaction.
In response to these results, an enhanced armlet was quickly developed. Aptitude tests for third-generation AGEs using paired armlets began in various locations.
The new armlets were fitted with a function meant to restrain AGEs, similar to handcuffs. Apparently, this had been a top priority.
In Ports all over the region, the treatment of AGEs had become harsher than ever. The utopia we had envisioned had become a prison, where children were sent off to a hell known as the Ashlands, and more were built every day.
"...How did you know I'd be here?"
When I received the news that Werner, who had been asleep and not allowed visitors, had woken up, I headed here instead of his hospital room.
A hangar lined with Ash Crawlers.
He'd come at midnight, under the light of the green moon, just as the guards had finished their rounds.
"...Are you leaving?"
I had known he would.
As long as he resided within a Port, his wish would never come true.
I had come here determined to stop him, no matter what.
But when I saw him standing before me, my resolve wavered.
Wounded and worn, yet there was still a flicker of obsessive fire in his eyes.
Only within such flames would he be able to forgive himself.
"...How ironic. The happiness we spoke of that day... I never thought this would be the true form of our utopia."
Werner looked down and muttered to himself in a scathing tone.
I didn't want him to leave.
I wanted to cling to him, beg him to stay by my side.
But then I realized how much that would hurt him.
If I took his hand, one of us would have to abandon our wish.
Werner met my gaze, his eyes filled with countless emotions.
Because we knew each other deeply. Because we respected each other more than anyone else.
Neither of us could close the distance.
After a long, long silence, both of us trying to clamp down on our hearts.
I slowly looked away from Werner.
"I'm sorry..."
His back receded into the distance.
The remains of our dream disappeared into the ashes of this burnt-out world.
I was certain I would regret this moment for the rest of my life.
Even so... I had to accept it.
Perhaps this was my punishment for being unable to do anything.
Around dawn, I finally returned to my room.
Inside, Amy and the children were sleeping, huddled together.
I was relieved. I didn't want the children to see my face right now.
Exhausted, I sat down in a corner of the room.
Only now did I realize how much their presence had saved my heart.
Everything... Everything was gone.
All I had left was my own sense of helplessness.
Even the sleeping faces of the children, who kept my fraying heart from unraveling completely, now seemed to bring about anxiety for the days to come.
I had no idea how to protect them from people's hatred.
My burnt-out dream had crumbled to ashes within me. Would I ever be able to bring smiles to these children's faces again?
Just as I felt my empty heart would be crushed by the weight of reality—
Suddenly, my eyes landed on Amy's sketchbook.
Although she was slowly regaining her ability to speak, her sketchbook was still an important part of her, helping her express her thoughts and feelings. Normally, I tried to avoid touching it as much as possible.
But right now, even if only for a moment.
I wanted to touch someone's heart.
"...!"
The moment I opened it, I saw Iris's gentle smile as she reached her hand out to me.
Was this Amy's memory of her first day at the facility?
Every detail was carefully and meticulously drawn.
The children who had lived in the facility.
It depicted fragments of memories that I had forgotten without even realizing.
Amy must have understood what the children were going through right now.
The drawings were filled with dreamlike scenes, overflowing with kindness.
I turned to the last page. There, I found—
"Amy..."
Me, Werner, Iris, and the other children.
The picture showed our smiling faces surrounded by blooming white flowers.
It depicted the utopia I had once envisioned.
The dream entrusted to this child by her family still lived on in her heart.
That dream was surely being conveyed to the sleeping children huddled together.
Nothing was lost. The dream I shared with my family was still here.
"Please... Don't give up."
An encouraging voice filled my mind. I could feel the warmth of a promise coming back to life in the palm of my hand.
If I gave up now.
Those irreplaceable days. The smiles of those who saw hope within our dream. All of it would be lost.
I couldn't let that happen. I would never let it happen.
"I...!"
On my own feet. By my own will. I would stand up with my own strength.
I felt a small flower sprout within my ashen heart.

PLANET PROFILE: Harvest
Tumblr media
Orbiting Alpha Centauri B, Harvest, as it's colloquially known, was humanity's first foray into both paraterraforming of an entire world and the first attempt at large-scale agriculture outside the Solar System.
A small world in orbit around the K-type star, roughly halfway between Earth and Mars in size, Harvest was originally a barren rock with no water, no life and a thin atmosphere of toxic gases. The world was initially mined for minerals, but then a new project was considered thanks to its close proximity to its parent star.
This involved the creation of a worldhouse, an huge translucent sphere situated just above the Kármán line, which would serve to control the planet's temperature, shield the surface from cosmic radiation and provide a base of operations for the project.
Enclosed within this sphere, the planet's surface was mechanically eroded using lasers and grinders, creating soil that could then be infused with nutrients, while the atmosphere was artificially introduced using material from comets and nearby gas giants. The panels of the worldhouse can be lightened or shaded at will to encourage the development of wind and regulation of temperature, while clouds could be seeded to produce rains where they were needed.
Once this initial layer of topsoil was established, farming began on a massive scale. Within a few decades, the entire surface of Harvest became home to fields of crops, many of which are larger than whole countries back on Earth. These not only include food crops, but material ones such as cotton and medicinal ones such as willow.
Beneath the surface, vast cave systems are also home to farms of edible fungi and deeper flooded ones engaging in aquaponics. Harvest was designed as a self-contained testing ground for horticulture and agriculture, with many experiments visible from orbit.
The planet's equator is dominated by a large black belt, which may be mistaken for fire damage or even a body of water, but is actually a series of plants modified to produce black leaves and capture 99% of the light produced by the star. Seeds grown here have been sent to Proxima Centauri to see if they can grow under a red dwarf.
Harvest is sparsely populated by planetary standards, with less than 50 million residents both on the surface and in the worldhouse stations. Most of those on the surface either live in stationary communities resembling small farming towns on Earth or in mobile towns resting on enormous harvesters that run on Haber-Bosch reactors producing fertilizer for the fields. Settlements are never far from the space elevators tethering the worldhouse to the surface.
While many might view Harvest as a paradise, the planet's leadership is infamously strict. Because the biosphere is entirely artificial, as the world lacks any tectonics or water cycle, very few risks are allowed and unwelcome visitors are turned away. Should a serious threat arise, natural or artificial, the worldhouse is equipped with defensive lasers.
Anyone who wishes to visit Harvest must complete a long questionnaire, submit to thorough screening and are committed to 24-Earth month-long contracts. Of course, between the assistance from robots and high-quality medical care, it's not nearly as backbreaking as some might believe. Most who do work or settle there are people who prefer the quieter life and prefer to get their hands dirty.
Despite the strict regulations, Harvest is frequently visited by ships who seek to use the worldhouse's mass drivers for some extra acceleration to their destination. They're often given complimentary foodstuffs before being sent on their way.
With trillions of bushels of apples, grain bins, bales of hay, and countless billions of other crops produced every year, there's plenty to go around.
