Semi-Open Violence Jack Book Club!

Have you wanted to get around to reading Violence Jack but just never had the drive to power through it alone? Do you want to read or reread with the chance to discuss with others? Are you too daunted by the horrors of relying on google translate to get through the chapters that haven't been scanlated into English without people who can read a language it has been released in to ask if something isn't making sense? Come join us!

Discussion will be run through an existing Devilman server, which you are also welcome to participate in. We're generally open to most new members, but we will be vetting people because we want to avoid both those who violate the rules below and who spend a lot of time participating in online drama or harassment.

I feel like we don't talk enough about the weird ways Viktor's future in Zaun is foreshadowed. When you mix every instance together it creates this weird mixture of heartbreak and terror.

For example, in the flashback when Viktor first meets Singed the entrance Viktor came through has a relief that looks like a shrouded figure. Personally, it reminds me of Huck post-timeskip.

In post timeskip Zaun there's a greenhouse called "The Herald's Palace" based on the sign that's framed with blue swirls similar to Jinx's tattoos, and it's being guarded by men wearing masks similar to the Machine Herald. The guards are even given long clubs reminiscent to the Herald's staff.

When Viktor visits Singed to share his research, when he looks into the container holding Rio, Viktor’s reflection in the fluid and glass makes him appear in better health compared to now. (Chemtech, the answer to filters in a pre-instagram world)

In the same scene, the silhouette of Rio's body vaguely resembles the outline of the Machine Herald's mask that appeared in the tarot card scene. The stand that frames the shot even resembles the Machine Herald's staff.

Speaking of the tarot card, in Viktor's "the Magician" card, the figure is holding an object that could be the hexcore. What's more interesting is that within that hexcore-like object is Jinx's champion teaser tag, it was just turned sideways to resemble the math symbol fish, ∝, though sideways it still makes Jinx's "X". On top of that both tarot cards are initialed with a "VJ", like Viktor and Jinx.

This is just a quick rundown because there's a bunch of the cosmic Void imagery that gets crossed with the human biology that will take longer to get into. It's just interesting how Viktor's story, which initially stood alone in Zaun and was largely influenced by Piltover is now becoming more entagled into the stories of Zaun's more influential champions, Singed and Jinx.

Unfortunately, while planning these AUs, I forgot to factor the Virtual Singers into them, so for now, I'll just be discussing the Enas.

SWITCH!Ena: As opposed to being a mere artist, Papa Shinonome is a well-respected animator who works for Rad Weekend Entertainment. Because of these connections, she's relatively close to both SWITCH!An and SWITCH!Touya. Wishing to prove her worth to her brutally-honest and critical father, Ena regular works on her animation and posts her works on the internet. However, much to Ena's dismay, they hardly got any tractions, until a mysterious rap-music fanatic by the name of Mizuki hit up her DMs, which lead to their future partnership as VJs, and members of Street!Niigo.

FUSE!Ena: FUSE!Ena is probably the most similar to canon Ena, with an inferiority complex regarding her art skills and the daddy issues that caused all of this baggage. However, instead of turning to the internet to vent her frustrations, she regularly goes on midnight walks to cool her jets, which is where she managed to stumble upon the musical performances of the rest of 25:00 Squad. Despite not knowing the first thing about music, Ena felt that being surrounded by fellow creators could help stimulate her artistic development, which led to her joining the 25:00 Squad. She may regularly get lost in FUSE!Kanade, FUSE!An, and FUSE!Toya's talk of music, but she's not prepared to let that stop her!

SHUFFLE!Ena: More or less similar to FUSE!Ena, but with the addition of her having a closer relationship with her supportive childhood friend, SHUFFLE!Airi, leading to a more confident attitude regarding both her art and her general skill in music, compared to SHUFFLE!Ichika or SHUFFLE!Nene.

SPIN!Ena: Upon hearing about a photography club that was willing to accept her artistic advice, SPIN!Ena tried her best to be the mentor figure the three club members needed. She may not be very confident in her photography or her art skills, but she will not let that stop her from being the best senpai she can be, whether that'll be showing them the best scenery for photo-ops or teaching them how to improve their drawing. In a way, she's kind of like a big sister figure to the rest of c4mera. On an extra note, she regularly gives SPIN!Honami art lessons, upon seeing her horrendous attempts at drawing Shibao.
