This image resurfaced on my cloud timeline today. Typically, I wouldn't repost something I've already shared. However, this particular moment was so unique, and since we've gained more likes and followers since then, I thought I'd share it again. So, here it is!
Experimental portrait of Mani. I initially sketched him out because drawing Mani soothes me when I'm anxious or sad, but I decided to full on render him for the fun and experimentation
I'm all for my fellow merch makers making whatever decisions they want with what they produce. But I wish it were more widely known that a clear epoxy coat over acrylic pins and charms will yellow over time. ;;
the idea of a capsule wardrobe is so fucking bonkers to me cuz they're like
"you should only have 30-60 items"
and you're like wow that sounds tough
amd then you find out that that's PER SEASON and also doesn't include underwear and socks and pajamas and whatnot
and suddenly you're just like??? that's just a normal fucking amount of clothes???
they make it sound like it's some Revolutionary Minimalist Idea but it's just how normal people dress i think
"every item should be versatile and work in more than one outfit!" is that not how most people shop? like, we don't have money for one-outfit-wonders; that shirt better look good with at least two pairs of pants that we own or it's not worth it
Dolly Parton’s “Bargain Store” and “Why’d You Come In Here Lookin Like That” are so underrated why the fuck do people only ever react to Jolene and I Will Always Love You she has other songs that are far better actually you fakers
(Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics Episode: The Coat of Many Colours
English dub, no subtitles, background music.)
Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics got an interesting, oddly accurate dub (except where it seems they inject more humour into the side characters' dialogue!), at least for The Coat of Many Colours (Thousand-Furs) that maintained the darker aspects of the original, like the incest plotline; the king has gone mad and wants to marry his own daughter “against the laws of both heaven and earth,” and poor Allerleirauh runs away... she's also clearly traumatized by the whole affair, is triggered by even just the word "marry," and has trouble warming up to the prince, even as he's only been shown as kind and caring to her (even when she looked a sight, dirty and covered in animals' hides, and had no idea she was this lovely lady he danced with). He first saved her from some kids picking on her (thinking she was a strange animal) and let her work as a servant in his kingdom. He offered to give her better clothes, but she declined (if I remember correctly, in the original fairy tale, she wanted to look repulsive/strange, likely to avoid being targetted again, because of what she went through...)
The prince's parents both passed away and her mother passed away, while her once-kind father lost his sanity and became, well, that... they bonded over that. He considers birds his friends, so that's how they bond, before she ever goes to the ball as a mystery princess he doesn't recognize.
... you can watch it on YouTube if you want to see it for yourself! It has a good ending, I promise. <3
the thing about wearing nail polish is that you end up buying several bottles of things (base and top coats) even when you paint exclusively one colour (black)
I remember a friend of mine who'd always say she'd see all the theatre shows and was in the school theatre group and was the epitome of a theatre kid and strived to make it her personality but in the same sentence would refuse to ever see something like Phantom of The Opera, Cats, The Nutcracker, because she claimed the stories were completely unreasonable and didn't deserve her attention.
Honey.
Tim Rice is one of the most respected creators in theatre (Andrew Lloyd Webber I feel has lost a bit after his Cinderella adaptation) and two of the shows were just bible stories with songs! (Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar) The man worked with Elton John on The Lion King.
Cats was just ALW putting music to poems that already existed.
If we go all the way back to Shakespeare, A Midsomer Night's Dream was the equivalent of a crackfic.
Clearly nothing here is famous for its plot. It's theatre, the plot has always been secondary.
And no I won't address the fact she calls The Nutcracker a play. I had that argument with her once and that was once too many.
