You know if Starscream had joined the Autobots and started hanging out with the kids I bet Miko would be like a little attack dog for him. She would LOVE his dramatic Shakespeare-esc aft and would want to protect him.

She knows Starscream definitely is no slouch when it comes to combat and is extremely resilient to damage- to an almost disturbing degree but he's just so little guy coded. Idk maybe I'm just projecting but I feel like regardless it's a fun concept.

"this here seems to be a mighty tight spot we've found ourselves in, sweetheart."

your voice is about as dry as a bone as the woman currently above you pins you down with her thighs, a very pointy knife pressed to your throat. your snark affords you an amused crinkle of her teal eyes, and she leans down close to your face, enough so that her warm breath fans across your skin. strawberry, you think idly, same scent as her chapstick.

"poor detective, all alone," she coos, her tone a lilting tease you're all too familiar with. "should've come with backup."

"now where'd be the fun in that, darlin'? i got you all to myself like this," you reply with a purr, hands finding the plush of her thighs to squeeze almost affectionately. "i'm a little reckless when it comes to cases i'm highly interested in, you see."

"clearly," is all she says, before she drops the knife to instead kiss you silly. the tail binding your legs comes loose, instead slithering to curl around only one leg, almost like her version of a hug. you grin into the kiss, lazily indulging in the way her persona melts away against the warmth of your lips, and all that remains is jane--your jane. when she pulls back, a little breathlessly, you chuckle.

"looks like i still got it," you hum, and she rolls her eyes, shimmying down your body so you're no longer being pinned to the floor of the dusty apartment you've 'cornered' her in. you sit up, your hands finding her waist as she straddles your thighs. her tail leaves your leg to curl around your abdomen, a gentle pressure that has you exhaling a pleased sigh. "well, anyway. whaddaya got for me this time, darlin'?"

jane takes in your appearance for a brief moment; your messy hair, the bags under your eyes, the crinkle of your tie and the rumpled state of your shirt. she shakes her head with a huff, running a hand through the tousled strands in a vain attempt to smooth it out and make it somewhat presentable. your eyes flutter shut as she does so, and you listen as she starts to tell you about the latest update on the new posse of criminals she's infiltrated. to sum up, they're new and a little wet behind the ears, but have the tenacity to make up for it. it'll take a little more finesse to take them down, but the end is in sight.

done with her explanation, jane's fingers slip from the roots of your hair down to the line of your jaw as she tilts your head delicately towards her. you open your eyes, meeting soft teal, before she leans in for another kiss, which you gladly oblige. when she pulls away it's with a sigh, almost wistful, but then she squeaks when you tug her close again with the hand on her waist.

your eyes are half-lidded as they flicker down to her soft, perfect lips, her chapstick now in dire need of reapplication. jane's tail squeezes a little tighter around your waist in response, and close as she is, you can feel her heart rate jump ever so slightly. there's barely a breath of distance between you both, and you can see her in all her minutiae--the tremble of her breathing, the fullness of her pupils, the bob in her throat at your blatant staring. her ear flicks, a restless, involuntary motion you know crops up when she's needy and a smile tugs the corner of your mouth.

"jane," you breathe her name, almost reverent, and her fingers twitch against your nape. "you..." anticipation hangs thick in the air. you lean forward slightly, almost as if to kiss her--before instead slipping her knife that had been previously discarded on the floor back into the concealed sheath on her hip. "...wouldn't wanna--" the knife slides into place slowly, inch by inch, your grin only widening as it passes. "--forget this, would'ya?"

it sheathes fully with a click, and jane blinks, disoriented, her gaze snapping from her you, to her knife, then back to you, before she clambers off you with a huff. you laugh at that, pushing yourself to your feet and dusting off your coat, as she stands with her back turned to you, tail lashing. "sorry darlin', i couldn't resist," you coo, but jane only sniffs in response, so you gently grasp her lashing tail and reel yourself in until your front presses to her back. your lips ghost her shoulder in apology, your arms winding around her tiny waist to hold her close. "c'mon, sweetheart..."

you kiss her neck next, and jane folds with a low exhale, though when she turns her head there's a pout on her lips. you hum a little at the sight, resting your forehead against hers. "you're mean," she says, and you chuckle again, kissing the corner of her mouth.

"i'm very sorry, darlin'," you drawl again. "how 'bout i make it up to you with a real kiss, hm?"

jane immediately brightens at that, and you kiss her again with all the affection distance has accumulated. her lips slot home against yours, soft and pillowy and sweet, and you have to resist the urge to bite--because if you do, she's certainly not leaving for the next hour or so, and both of you are running on too tight of a schedule for that. she turns to hold you better, and when you pull apart for the last time, you speak your next words right against her lips.

"be safe," you whisper. i love you, you mean.

"you know i always am," she says. i love you too, she means.

and then you let her go, and all you're left with is the brief taste of strawberries on your lips, waiting until she comes back.

One of my mutuals opinions is the "bro code" thing, that Curly is one of those guys who wouldn't care about the victim because the perpetrator is his friend and I'm really banging my head on the wall like that other anon. I've only played through the game once but Curly's behaviour/reactions etc read completely different from the "bro code" thing and I have to wonder if my mutual and I even played the same game.. like the constant digs at him from Jimmy, his body language in his face reveal and so on like you mentioned in your post. While this game is a little different obviously, it kind of reminded of a point in Alice Madness Returns that makes it very clear that Alice's pain blinded her to the abuse of the other children and her failure to act earlier because of it. Curly is guilty of a similar inaction but it doesn't change the fact he was a victim of Jimmy too. I don't think I can look at it any other way because both of these games have really stuck with me.

I genuinely think it really is the idea that people want a simple easy to blame problem and the idea that the only relatable victims of abuse are those that "surpass" it or do a lot to help others. When it comes to victims, especially those that don't fit the typical demographics, who either accidently perpetuate it, enable it or aren't ideal in some way shape or form, people jump to ignore what they went through as it's easier than dealing with those conflicting sentiments.

The bro-code conversation in Mouthwashing stems from a concept I generally dislike that there had to be something about Curly that made him meet or keep being friends with someone like Jimmy. I think people genuinely underestimate how many like decent and good people just know an asshole or are friends with someone who is really bad outside of their view/established dynamics. The game makes it clear none of the inaction against Jimmy is because of a lack of care, it is a lack of understanding from the privaleged postions they have as men to not have to worry about what Anya does/went through and the type of extremes men like Jimmy will go through to cover it up. They are all too preoccupied in their own strifes.

Another thing I see being oversaturated the idea that you have to be a freak, misanthrope or have a disorder to do the thing Jimmy does. The game is an escalation, it's a spiral that I don't see people comment on that Jimmy was not likely having the mood swings and episodes of rage/frustration we were seeing in the game. This is after they all start experiencing the worst moments in their lives that he got THAT openly bad. Of course, this is just my interpretation but much like in real life, people that go to extremes like that usually live mundane lives. It's a pressure cooker affect to where the stress made them pop. It's self inflicted but still the case.

I really think people need to be more willing to acknowledge that not everything needs to be an extreme or in black and white or easy to understand. It doesn't need to be happy or have an answer or solution, especially in the cases where the abused sadly helps perpetuate what they experience. It's not he should've known better from experience or shouldn't he have known what could've happened because victims tend to not like to think in matters of the worst. Not to mention, especially in cases of abuse where it feels so personally directed that you don't expect to happen to someone else.

I'm re-watching Lego: Nexo Knights

And, they really did Jestro dirty.

They had him perform after Merlok(and I know Merlok set up a 'surprise attack' to test the Knights and show off a little but still man)

I to would be a nervous wreck if I had to perform after a literal sorcerer.

Jestro, is clearly hesitant about using the Book of Monsters(BoM), but because his self-esteem is so low, he's lured into it.

And whenever we see his story play out, the guys just, so sad, it's clear he isn't totally convinced this is what he wants, being evil, but the BoM picks at his insecurities, and words things on such a way Jestro just goes with it.

Like straight up, the BoM and Jestro have a toxic relationship, and it's all at Jestros' expense.

And don't get me started on his relationship with Clay, iwbzjsjsj

I love them

Clay just never giving up on his friend and always giving him the benefit of the doubt. And Jestro's main concern when the BoM was first trying convince him to summon a monster was Clay.

I can't, my sweet, sweet, boiz

Jestro deserves all the kindness and I could never hate him.

Same with Clay, Clay is the Dad/Mom friend we all need.

So it seemed like Leo and Raph at least had moments where they were either aware of the curse or explicitly trying to fight against it (see Leo freezing in the doorway of Donnie's lab at one point, I'm pretty sure Raph had at least one moment before the curse broke but I can't quite remember which one), but did Mikey have any that I'm missing? He was willing to go along with Donnie on an errand or whatever at the beginning, I know that much, even if his art was all weird (curse bringing out repressed anger, perhaps?), but it would somehow be more of a gut punch if Mikey was the one to not even notice that anything was up until the moment he broke out of the curse.

i think whats most important about the way that mikey responded to the curse was that his perspective on it was not as concrete as leo and raph's. like leo and raph as donnie's older brothers both had in some capacity this feeling of responsibility over him that mikey DIDN'T, and the curse really takes advantage of it (getting more insight into leo's relationship with donnie in ME and CW really compounds his role and how he's spent so long looking out for him and facilitating a relationship where donnie is more comfortable being uniquely vulnerable, while raph was more straightforward as the oldest and their protector). but mikey's resistance is a lot more passive and hard to pick up on, there's a reason he's not proactive until very late in the game.

really i think the moment in the kitchen is the only really mask off moment he has where he's independently aggressive, with no input from his other family, and that's just because donnie did something that would probably frustrate him on a NORMAL day and the curse just intensified those emotions by like a billion

really i think the absolute worst thing about it is that it takes advantage of mikey's impulsivity more than anything else. he's not calculated and reveling in the idea of vengeance for a perceived lifetime of annoyance like leo is. he doesn't think its a deep moral responsibility that needs to be corrected like raph does. mikey is a person who likes fun, who likes to turn his brain off, and sometimes that means he can be reckless, careless, and occasionally even mean! he's an empathetic person who's willing to correct himself when he oversteps boundaries, but when its for someone the curse is twisting him to hate, why would he?

it's the thrill of getting away with it, with being in on the "joke". he laughs while leo does the really nasty shit and usually only goes out of his way to get in on it when leo's the one encouraging him, because early on he sees most of the goading and bullying as actual harmless fun, and later on he hates donnie enough to revel in it when he has the momentum with other people who are in on the joke. mikey on his own really would not be as vicious, and its why you can even see it in little ways- he lies after letting donnie out of the closet but he does seem confused and hurt by his reaction. when they go to the movies without him, he makes up the lie about genuinely forgetting in an effort to protect his feelings. he hugs him after he fixes the oven; the "its ok!! we werent mad" text message was a lie but it was similarly one to make him feel better (while the "good" after indicates how little he actually cares beyond that, not even trying to entertain him)

and when mikey isn't actively taking fun in hurting donnie, he isn't acknowledging him at all. he finds torment for the sake of it to be annoying, and he loses his patience/gets bored with it eventually-- and then he doesn't treat donnie like anything but a broken toy to be thrown away. when donnie isn't fun for him, he isn't anything. its the fact that he's apathetic in the end that hurts donnie the most.
