The Suzaku vs. Lelouch Knightmare Frame fight I wish happened in the show Would Lelouch lose really really fast in a close-quarters fight like this against Suzaku? Absolutely, but I don't let the facts get in the way of a cool drawing

I’m not going to lie I find it really fucking funny to kill off my self inserts whenever I design selfship shit 😭 It’s not even like an act of self hatred or anything it’s just the idea that both self inserts and young protagonists are typically given a shitton of plot armor, so having my S/I die in god awful cruel ways just….I can’t explain why it’s humorous to me it just is

While internally joking around about "Wow, the Universal Century really seems to have a hijacking problem" I realized that how Knightmares have keys is neat tone-setting detail. The One-Year War and the AEUG's rebellion against the Titans are equal enough that neither side wants to risk a mobile suit getting stuck in the hangar because the pilot misplaced their keys despite all the mobile suit-jacking that occurs in Zeta.
Britannia at the start of Code Geass has no such equal; they're already dominating the world and are preparing to dominate it even harder. Their military advantages are so large that they're willing and able to sacrifice some combat readiness to maintain them.

thinking about bodies again, and play again, and how much of everything is both. watching footage of candide thovex treat gravity like an unserious suggestion. when he lands it seems like it was his idea.
if you put a complex system in front of people, they will find a way to tell a joke in it - which is rather to say, a turn of play of the sort that when instantiated in the complex system of language we call a joke. the bongcloud opening in chess is one notable example, haydn's surprise symphony another - but this is selling the point far short: the spirit that moves in these instances is the spirit that animates music or chess or fencing or dance or downhill skiing. darlin, it's all play, all the use of the body for its own sake, treating the body as an end and not a means. how would you even have a body without play, without the thousands of little gestures you make every day for no other purpose than that you feel like moving in such and such a way. or the words you choose (language is embodiment too) for reasons of sound or tone or connotation or the abrupt shift in register and not simply for communication of information - although play does communicate, but it communicates by transforming the listener or reader into a participant, you know?
and some of what i'm thinking about is all the things one can do with a body that probably aren't going to be possible for me, not just because, like, finite lifespan, but because i'm currently in a period of post-COVID fatigue on top of my regular chronic fatigue, and yes of fucking course those debuffs stack. God in His mercy has seen fit to tie an anchor to my sternum and nudge my personal coefficient of gravity up just a skosh, and I will likely not be able to ever get back into - for instance - tango. but i can still remember what it felt like. and i can still watch candide thovex fly and imagine what he feels. and i can stretch my own arms and run my hands through my own hair. there remains an immense and weightless glory in having even such a weary, aching body as this.

youtube
Short Drama "Welcome to Lloyd and Cecile's Knightmare Show"
The drama begins with Lloyd and Cecile introducing themselves (Cecile says she's 17 years old) and introducing the show and their guests, which are the Code Geass well known Knightmare; (Basically the Knightmare are alive and talk, with the seiyuu's voices of their pilots, even though said voices are a bit modified to fit each of the Knightmare's personality)
Order of appearance of the Knightmares: First, Lancelot, mentions he works for the britannian army, his "scary" nickname of white Shinigami; He is very very nervous and stutters a bit.
Guren is the next one, she just says her name until Cecile asks a bit more information, to which she says one of her (Kallen's) key sentences "EAT THIS BRITANIAN SHIT". She's talking like some juvenile delinquent (That's why we have Kallen dressed as a japanese delinquent on the cover of the drama)
After that, Gawain appears and asks people not to mind the strange voice (C.C. and Zero are talking the same lines together), it's because he's got space for 2 pilots inside.
Next one is Tristan, who is very glad of being a Knightmare (His personality is identical as Gino's)
Mordred arrives and stutters a lot, it seems she's very nervous, but glad of being here.
Shen-hu talks in a very smooth and seductive voice and compliments Ceciles good looks, but she tells him to die.
Vincent introduces himself in a very dull voice as the little brother of Lancelot.
The last planned guest is "Ohayou Gozaimashita" Siegfried, who tries to come on stage but gets bashed by the other guests because he's not really a Knightmare, but a flying Fortress. Guren even tries to fry him.
Eventually, a super-hyper-spazzy Shinkirou makes a rushed entry although he wasn't on the guestlist.
After the introductions, Cecile asks them to tell a little anecdote about their relationship with their pilots. Lancelot begins by saying that Suzaku refills the energy filler way too much and he also borrows parts from Cecile's Knightmare and all of this makes him troubled. Cecile is very concerned and wants to know if it happens all the time to which he replies it's only 9 out of 10 times. Guren thinks Kallen pushes her way too much and she often weeps on Raksharta's shoulder. Gawain thinks this is nothing compared to what he suffered, naming hisdouble-suicide with Siegfried (He says "shunju" as in the suicide two lovers commit together ). Lloyd gets annoyed by the two voices so C.C.'s voice decides to continue the talking alone (since Zero is already speaking Shinkirou it makes sense).
Guren wants to impress everyone with cool moves, and Lancelot goes along with it but Lloyd urges them to stop this in the studio, especially when Tristan joins them, followed by Siegfried and Mordred who takes out the Stark Hadron. Cecile doesn't know what to do anymore for them to behave and get along. Shinkirou seems to think it's a very funny situation. Mordred then fires her Hadron; Lloyd says he thought he was gonna die while Cecile's hair has turned into an afro because of the shot; Shen-hu intervenes to enquires if his beloved person (Cecile) is fine.
After that, Lloyd brings some liquid Sakuradite so that the Knightmare can have a drink and they eventually get drunk on it. Siegfried nearly drowns in it, Vincent is a spoilsports but is pushed by his big brother Lancelot, Shen-hu gets all poetic and sings a Chinese Federation song, Guren flames up, Shinkirou (try to imagine a drunk Zero) tells everyone to join the trip to the World of C, Cecile is in despair and everything escalates into a huge explosion.
ending song Lloyd and Cecile finally say goodbye to the audience, announcing that next week the Black Knight's mechas such as Gekka will be featured. The chaos is complete.
Translation by Kitsune Short Drama "Lelouch's impossible part-time job
The Setting is an Hamburger restaurant, where Lelouch is working part-time, a job attributed by Rivalz, the job coordinator of Ashford. Lelouch complains a little because he works here because Viletta sensei's punished him and it was the punishment she gave him. Rivalz encourages him to try smiling a little. Lelouch gets all enthusiastic because he rehearsed that in front of the mirror and demonstrate leading Rivalz to shivers at what he witnesses. Female customers enter, Lelouch knows all their data already. Rivalz notices he deals with them fairly wel, but it appears Lelouch actually abused of his charm with ladies to make them order (Rivalz calls it "Pheromon poison") Lelouch is very proud of himself anyway.
Suddenly C.C. enters and Lelouch sems concerned, so Rivalz inquires whether they know each other. C.C. ignores the question and orders a chorizo pizza. Lelouch gets angry, explaining that this is a hamburger restaurant, and she shouldn't bother him at work. C.C. uses her condescending tone and complains because this restaurant doesn't propose anything she wants, the bantering then turns into a fight and Rivalz tries to stop them because it'll get Lelouch fired.
Indeed, after the resuatrant mess, Lelouch now has a new job, he is a bellboy in a hotel. Rivalz asks about the girl from last time, for she was pretty cute to which Lelouch tells him about his taste in women being the worst. Anyway, he seems to fit in perfectly and says there are no problems. Truth is, he geasses the customers to carry their luggage by themselves when they are too heavy for him. Coincidentially, C.C. walks in again, and Lelouch feels like she wants to cause trouble again. C.C. wants him to lift her super heavy luggage, but since geass doesn't work on her, it's either he has to lift it (and even become her personal waiter) or...he flees. So he ends up running away.
And, new job again, this time we are in a clothes' shop (More like a tailor shop), and Lelouch is pretty good at it. C.C. walks in again because coincidentally she also comes here often to buy clothes; She goes in the dressing room to try on some clothes) Rivalz then questions if Lelouch is or isnt' interested by her after Lelouch shut her off to which Lelouch warns him if he doesn't want to die he'd rather stay out of it. C.C. suddenly wants Lelouch to measure her, when he insists that she certainly knows her sizes best, C.C. replies she wants to prove to someone (her line refers to what she said to Kallen in the Beautiful record of rebellion drama so it's certainly Kallen) that her figure hasn't changed in centuries. Lelouch then manages to try and take her three sizes with a measuring tape, to which C.C. reacts with very ecchi lines "where are you touching" stuff like that, with Lelouch being as Lelouch as can be ( he snaps at her when she mentions "it must be your first time"lol); From Rivalz point of view, with lines being easily taken out of context, things seems super suggestive in the dressing room; Eventually, C.C. ends up punching him when he begins to speak her three size outloud (Her bust size is seemingly 80).
New job, security guard in some store. Rivalz brings him hot coffee. Lelouch picked this job so stay away from people as he is scared "that"will show up again. As Lelouch and Rivalz take a look at what's inside the boxes within the wharehouse, they notice it's frozen pizza and.... C.C. OBVIOUSLY turns up with the Black Knights' theme music, and Lelouch can barely hide the fact that she's part of the Order from Rivalz. He calls her a thief, but she corrects him, it's "Phantom Thief" ("Kaito", as in Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, Kaito kid, etc), as opposed to a vile criminal. She nonetheless steals all the pizza that was stored in the shop (switching to a scary overly moe voice), but there is an alarm that C.C. inadvertently activates, and shit goes on. Rivalz and Lelouch manage to run away, and C.C. gets trapped behind a closing door.
Rivalz has gotten a final job for Lelouch, involving a gas mask and a cursed location close to a hospital. The job is about washing corpses and Rivalz didn't want to bring lelouch there but it's his last job opportunity; Lelouch is confident it should be fine. As Rivalz left, Lelouch notice a pool on the hospital floor; There seems to be a floating corpse inside, and whenever he tries to drown it, the corpse seems to react (it's hand) Eventually the corpse ends up being C.C. who raises her scary face and yells a very exagerated cry of his name "RuRushuuuuuu !!!" (like the emperor say in the japanese version) and it's the end.
Note: Apparently Lelouch is washing/cleaning corpses in the hospital's morgue, partly as a reference to C.C.'s job when she was still a slave girl.
Translation by Kitsune and Blottyparchment with some fixing. That's about it for Sound episode 4 ! More and more crack, but that's the deal with R2 Sound drama. Hope you enjoyed.

What if
What if I told you I see some similarities with the endings of Code Geass and Madoka Magica? Yeah, I know they are two complete different anime but HEAR ME OUT
A character who comes to the final decision of making the ultimate sacrifice to the betterment of the world: Lelouch and Madoka (The thing is that Lelouch dies and Madoka ascends to godhood but still)
A character who basically is a knight to the former, watches them make their sacrifice by essentially dying and vows to continue living in their name even though they actually wanted to die because of their actions: Suzaku and Homura (Yeah, Suzaku kills Lelouch and Homura just sees Madoka make her wish and become god)
AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED WITH THE WHOLE ASS CHRISTIANITY SYMBOLISM IN BOTH SHOWS 😭😭😭
And please, keep in mind I'm NOT comparing the characters, they all are written differently and have their own stories, I'm just saying that their roles at the end of each anime (that ends with the protagonist making a sacrifice while their friend just continues protecting everyone for them) is just similar for me.
Or that's just me being silly and seeing too much in things idk I am sorry for posting this

Why is the ending of Code Geass perfect?
Tumblr media
The ending of Code Geass is perfect, giving a satisfying end to the narrative arcs of our characters, with special emphasis on Lelouch and Suzaku. Suzaku finds the peace of mind he has been desperately seeking for ten years by bringing peace to the world. By rediscovering the value of the human will, Lelouch renounces control over the world and the will of people by returning them and, at the same time, becomes a hero by giving his life for the greater good and a martyr by dying for his ideals. "Only those who are willing to die should have the power to kill." A foreshadowing that the creators gave us in the first episode.
It's perfect because Lelouch cleanses the world's hatred with his death and founds a new era of peace and prosperity. Not only does he become the scapegoat for the blood shed during the war, he also becomes the messiah he claimed to be like Zero thanks to a lie.
It's perfect because Lelouch redeems himself from the Japanese Administrative Zone massacre that ruined Euphemia's reputation. They both die being what they are not. Euphemia, who was a generous and kind princess who had the best intentions of helping the Japanese people, dies a genocidal liar and manipulator. Lelouch dies as the ruthless and megalomaniacal Demon Emperor who declared war on the world, even though he is actually the hero who saved it. However, Lelouch gladly accepts the role of villain, considering it deserved.
It's perfect because it's a deliciously ironic twist. Suzaku who wanted to change the system from within destroys it as Zero (whom he hated) while Lelouch who wanted to destroy it reformed it as Emperor (whom he hated).
It's perfect because he builds a parallel with episode 4 of the first season creating a rounded closure. Zero appears for the first time in the unjust execution of an innocent man and for the last time he reappears in the unjust execution of some rebels who fought for freedom and justice. Both parades were led by Jeremiah. In this way, Zero becomes a symbol of justice.
It's perfect because Zero's murder of the Demon Emperor becomes an incredible metaphor. Justice destroys hate. Good defeats evil. Hope will always prevail.
It's perfect because the foreshadowing of episode five of the first season is fulfilled: the White Horse (Suzaku) defeats the Black King (Lelouch). In addition, it is in line with the series' stance that Lelouch and Suzaku can succeed in anything if they join forces.
It's perfect because it solves the program's mystery about whether the end justifies the means. The anime answers yes, but you have to pay a price. Lelouch gives his life for the end and Suzaku lives to preserve the means used.
It's perfect because the Zero Requiem constitutes a just punishment for Lelouch and Suzaku. Suzaku, who wanted to die to evade guilt and pain, has to live as a peace mediator assuming the identity of Zero, the figure he opposed. Meanwhile, Lelouch who wanted to live with his loved ones has to die so that they can enjoy the kind world that he dreamed of. Thus both atone for his sins.
It's perfect because the Zero Requiem was the means to achieve peace. Lelouch and Suzaku literally ended all wars for a long time.
The F.L.E.I.J.A., which was the most dangerous weapon ever conceived, was destroyed along with the Damocles.
There will be no more Knightmares. In the final battle, Lelouch blew up the mines on Mount Fuji that accounted for 70% of the world's supply of Sakuradite (the mineral that provided power to the Knightmares) and, at the same time, eliminated the reason for the powers to conquer Japan.
There are no armies anymore. The most powerful army in the Code Geass universe at that time is the Order of the Black Knights and is at the service of the United Nations Federation. The Black Knights can only act together through a vote and, in any case, they will be one of the forces that rebuild the new world. The other largest army was that of Britannia, however, it was mostly annihilated due to the final battle.
There will be no power vacuum. That is the purpose of FNU. Almost all nations are united under the FNU, but still retain their leadership. The FNU is a coalition of nations whose seventeenth provision states that all members must be demilitarized. It is similar to the UN with the difference that it is a more competent organization. By the end of the series, all of the superpowers (the Chinese Federation, the European Union, and Britannia) are members; in such a way that the FNU becomes the governing body of the world.

There will be no power vacuum. That is the purpose of FNU. Almost all nations are united under the UFN, but still retain their leadership. The UFN is a coalition of nations whose seventeenth provision states that all members must be demilitarized. It is similar to the UN with the difference that it is a more competent organization. By the end of the series, all of the superpowers (the Chinese Federation, the European Union, and Britannia) are members; in such a way that the UFN becomes the governing body of the world.
No one has the strength to continue fighting due to psychological trauma. The final battle pushed everyone beyond their limits causing great emotional toll. Not to mention that the world was already immersed in an uninterrupted global war for 20 years in a row. The Britannians themselves witnessed such horrors on their territory as Lelouch brought such suffering. People were fed up with pain, deaths and wars. They didn't want to experience the same thing again soon.
Additionally, this war gave rise to a kind of reset in the political landscape. Britannia lost all its power and the Chinese Federation and the European Union would no longer try to fill the void by becoming the new dominant superpower. That is why Lelouch set out to conquer the entire world. Britannia will become a much more democratic government, now that Nunnally is the empress. She will redirect the empire in the right direction. We see that the colonies will be able to become independent, if they wish. For me, the wedding between Ohgi and Villetta ends years of hatred between Britannia and Japan and celebrates a new beginning marked by togetherness, happiness and peace.
Neither Nunnally's government nor the new world will face threats. The nobility was abolished by Lelouch and many of them died when Schneizel fired the F.L.E.I.J.A. towards Pendragon. Any dissidents who might disturb the peace were hunted down by Jeremiah. Schneizel, who was the main danger and the most competent politician, is under Zero's orders, which means that he will no longer act on his ambitions, but will instead lend his skills and knowledge to the rightful ruler of Britannia, Nunnally, the weak link of the royal family becomes the most powerful person in an entire empire.
Of course, this is no guarantee of peace nor is it indicative that it will last forever. There is still resentment and anger. The UFN could be dissolved and all nations could once again turn against each other. Lelouch could have stayed in power to keep the peace. But he respected free will and believed that people were in the constant search for happiness, so Lelouch gave the world the opportunity. According to Kallen in the epilogue, all nations are pooling their efforts to address other problems such as hunger and poverty, proving that Lelouch was right about human nature. In the end, peace is a decision that the world makes. A peace created by the system and not imposed from outside (just as Suzaku wanted).
In short, the ending is perfect because the climax coincides with the closure of the story. That is, all problems are solved with a single (and very powerful) scene. It's a difficult feat to achieve in narrative. And yet, the creators did it.

(I had this idea of what if Lelouch and Light traded series, like what if Lelouch got the Death Note in Death Note and Light obtained a Geass in Code Geass and I had some surprisingly concrete ideas.
-Lelouch would immediately make the Shinigami Eye deal, he doesn't believe he deserves to live in the paradise he will create so he'll definitely do that to make it easier and would probably do any other self-sacrificial thing his Shinigami suggested because that's the kind of guy he is.
-I don't know why but I am fixated on this idea that Light would be in a fake relationship of convenience with Milly, like both are people of high status who need a relationship for their cover and there would kind of be this unspoken loveless transactional factor to them being together in public and then not giving a shit about each other in private that Milly would kind of resent but Light would be fine with.
-Light would probably actually be a pretty good Knightmare Frame pilot, he has a similar level of intellect to Lelouch but is far more athletically inclined so he may not be a freak genius at it like Kallen and Suzaku but he'd probably be pretty good, BUT he'd also not be as willing to be on the front lines as Lelouch and would probably set up more dummy systems and decoys to make it look like he was there when he's really controlling things from far away like a computer game.
-Lelouch would be far less willing to use the Death Note on people just doing their jobs like cops hunting him and stuff, this'd probably help him out in the short term as there won't be a bunch of cops dropping dead when they come to investigate him and he won't draw L as quickly because he doesn't have the instinctive drive to draw L in for daring to challenge him but it will make some decisions more complicated if fate forces his hand on some of these choices.
-Light would loophole the shit out of Geass like instead of direct commands he'd make the whole school sleeper agents to activate a specific action when he does a random innocuous thing, Lelouch got up to some creative implementation of it but Light's more about testing the boundaries of rules and once he realizes he can only use it once per person he'd get as many pawns in his local vicinity as possible to make getting caught less likely.
-Lelouch would probably use the Death Note more strategically and selectively, targeting specific heads of state and basically enforcing a "Super Geneva Convention OR ELSE" policy specifically targeted at systems of oppression within governments instead of the general idea of "bad people" and probably go for a more top-down approach by demanding better social policies from the world at large.
-Suzaku would probably generally be gullible enough to fall for Light's good guy act, like it would take some serious plot twisting to actually get him to suspect Light because he's just a lot better at dissociating and pretending he's on a completely different wavelength than the terrorists of the story but if he ever did catch up with him you could imagine how merciless he would be to Light's arrogant god schtick, man would not be getting the same mercy Lelouch did.
-L would have a hard time getting a read on Lelouch because Lelouch doesn't have any pride in his plans and wouldn't purposely fuck up to draw L closer like Light did, it's entirely possible depending on the level of police surveillance available they'd eventually catch Lelouch slipping since he's not quite as meticulous as Light but they'd have a lot less to go on, though if L ever does catch a whiff Lelouch probably doesn't have the same kind of charisma and psychopathy to ellude L the way Light did.
