Pumpkling – Tiny plant, chaotic evil
Sworn to slay, devoted to destruction. The pumpkling is a most sinister critter – a restless soul cramped into a brittle yet unrelenting body with its only goal to put its imposing knives to use. Over and over again, it is pulled back to its cursed existence on the edge between life and death. With a fiery passion, it bends to the bidding of its grim commander and wreaks havoc wherever it must. Many adventurers fell before its deceptively innocent looks – just to quickly find out that the pumpkling’s mind only seeks to stab, stab and stab…

I Watched The Straight Story
So me and some friends watched Mullholland Drive last week ....And ignited an interest in the work of David Lynch for me,and I decided to do a few rewatches and also fill in some Lynch gaps .By complete happenstance ,my friend @themousefromfantasyland checked out Lost Highway and I also checked out a Lynch film though I went lighter, checking out his DISNEY collabroation The Straight Story

In this 1999 film,it tells the true story of Alvin Straight played by Richard Farnsworth who journeys to meet his brother who just had a stroke on a lawnmower
Now I have heard people say this is kind of the oddball of Lynchs films cause it feels Unlynchinan and I have heard people warn that it is boring......Both are untrue
For one, while it is less abstract then some of his other films and it is his most accessable film ,it has Lynchs fingerprints all over it inits unusual characters and detail focus .I also found it utterly heartwarming and found it for the lack of a better word ....A human film.ITs about a man trying to make amends in the only way he knows he can .I loved the odd side characters (Deer Woman is one of the best movie characters ever ).Theres a cameo near the end which is just the perfect casting .Sissy Spacek I think does a very good job as Alvins daughter Rose ,and the glue of the film for me was Richard Farnsworth who give very internal performance .Also this movie made me misty eyed a few times
Big reccomendation ,if you wanna get into Lynch or are curious what a more conventional film by him looks like ,or hell if you just want a heartwarming drama ,I reccomend it

Léon Bakst (Russian [born present day Belarus], 1866–1924 Paris)
ca. 1912 & ca. 1914
Two versions of a Valet costume design for the ballet Papillons
Les Papillons was premiered at the Théâtre de Monte-Carlo in 1914, performed by the Ballets Russes led by Serge Diaghilev. The designs for this ballet marked the end of a break of almost two years in which Bakst stopped collabroating with Diaghilev. Although Bakst was recognized for the orientalist inspiration and a sensational style, the designs for this ballet were much more pared down, with a subtler use of color and a less sensuous line of the body, which by 1914 had become an essential part of the Ballet Russes and the modern ballet scene in Paris.

2 day filming trip to Mikimiki Rd farm and Manawatu Farms

We headed up on Wednesday to the Carterton farm that Massey owns, where we first started filming for this project. The weather was delicious and warm we went through a Massey marked gate and followed the tracks of where cows had been moved through seemingly earlier that morning. There were rocks scattered through out the paddock that were once the river bed lodged into the ground, the air was warm and the birds were singing so loudly.
After spending some time we got to filming. We took two camera the black magic and a handheld 4k video camera. The black magic hd the big directional big boom microphone and the 4k had bluetooth contact mics that we placed the left and right of around about where would be in the shot to try collect as much ambient and diegetic audio.
The air was so warm that once we finished each time we'd joke it was warmer naked. We made our way back to the car and collected some wool that hd collected from the sheep rubbing up on it. It smelt like lanolin and was so soft as we headed over towards Manawatu the clouds set in and the weather once we got to the Pahiatua track took a turn for the worse. We went up to Cashmere Drive in Palmerstion North and took some shots of the Manawatu Awa and I shared every formative experience I had in high school around that area. We headed down into the massey campus passed the Fonterra building with the USA flag hanging off it :/ Made our way through some of the paddocks where they were trialling different grass cultivating and herd rotations experiments. Spent some more time collecting footage of cows and the awa from eye level.
We stayed with my mum in Awahuri/Fielding and during some sharing of Jacks family linegage that ties to the area we found out that we're 3rd cousins. Finding this out so far into this our collabroation reconfirmed somethign in my that this was a project that we needed to do together and that our whakapapa while riddled with pakeha guilt and responsibility isn't a sole burden but can only be approached within a community and whanau chosen or not or both.
We asked my mum for a greenwaste bag so we could collect a decent amount of gorse to keep working with for studio as well as Jacks performance in BedStageAltar.

~Wild Things in Wild Places Podcast~
Special guest, Paul Ulrich, Vice President of Jonah Energy LLC and former President of the Petroleum Association of Wyoming, brings a unique perspective to the table as an avid fly fisher, outdoorsman and hunter. What makes this episode truly captivating is the refreshing synergy between the seemingly contrasting realms of environmental conservation and the energy sector.
Paul Ulrich sheds light on the untapped potential for collaboration between these two sectors. He passionately discusses the numerous positive contributions that the oil/gas industry can make and have made to conservation efforts, challenging the stereotypes often associated with it.

So here are some of my favourite albums. Musicals and opera primarily. The collection in the centre has many less famous actors and singers singing some famous theatre songs. The opera albums fully got me into opera, so I love them too!
