Nightstalker’s Mantle, Wondrous item, Very Rare

Spread your wings, become a silent protector of the night. This shoulder cape is crafted from the membrane and body of a giant bat. It is dark and leathery, with a slightly translucent appearance that seems to absorb light. The cape is surprisingly lightweight and flexible, draping over the wearer's shoulders like a shadowy mantle.

Honey Stick

Consumable, common

“A small tube of flavored honey that is often sold at fairs and festivals. There is nothing magical about these treats in most circumstances, but sometimes when a fey blesses a beekeeper's hive, unusual things happen.”

You can use a bonus action to eat this small treat. When you do, roll 1d100. On a roll of 2-100, you gain 1 temporary hit point. On a roll of 1, you roll on the Wild Magic Surge table.

✨New item!✨ Bandolier of Many Knives Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement)

This leather bandolier has eight daggers sheathed in it. You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with one of these magic daggers. A dagger removed (or thrown) from the bandolier vanishes at the end of your turn and reappears on the bandolier, unless you are wielding the dagger as a melee weapon. You can draw a dagger from the bandolier (no action required) as part of making an attack with it.

Fan of Blades. As an action while wearing the bandolier, you can throw all eight daggers at once. You must have a free hand to do so. Each creature in a 15-foot cone must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 8d4 + 8 piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Once this property of the bandolier has been used, it cannot be used again until the next dawn.

Stat a D&D Character

How it will work: After the results of the poll is done, I’ll rank the stats with the most votes and match then to the appropriate the D&D 5e standard stat array number (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8)

If this gets popular enough I might start a side blog where we make a D&D character 100% based on polls, but for now… enjoy.

D&D item idea: Actually Magic 8-Ball

When a player asks it a question and gives it a good shake, the DM rolls a d20. 11-20 and it answers truthfully. 6-10 and it says something completely useless (ask again later). 1-5 and it lies. Whenever it is used, it goes on a (in-game) 1 hour cooldown, where it simply refuses to answer.

Bonus points for creative useless answers ("Isn't it obvious?", "I dunno.", "Weather's nice, eh?").

Character Synopsis: Mimi was once the child of a noble lord and lady, having been born very weak and sick, his parents would spend years trying to find a way to stabilize his condition, unfortunately they did not have the time, as Mimi’s condition worsened beyond their control and he eventually passed away. The despair of the lord and lady was felt throughout the city, as they invested in a massive funeral precession in honor of their son. All the while, Mimi’s ghost watched from their home, confused, but free. He quickly found the head maid who alongside his mother would sing him lullabies to sleep, after she feinted from the shock of seeing him, they spoke for a while and she began to understand his predicament. She insisted that he not show himself to his parents quite yet, as they would surely seek a way to bring him back from the dead rather than let him be free from the body that ailed him so. She told him to seek out the adventurers guild, and that surely he would be able to find a new way to live outside in the world until his parents moved on from their grief and could meet him again in this form.

Mimi’s Jug

Wondrous Item, Rare (Requires Attunement)

This container has Spiritual Essence within it, it is able to mold this essence when any liquid is placed inside of it, creating a viscous chocolate flavored brew. The container can only be filled up with liquid once per day, you must wait one minute for the liquid to transform, upon completion there will be 5 doses of the Choco Brew. When a creature drinks the the Brew, they regain 2d8 + 2 Hit Points and gain 5 Temp HP. Additionally, until the creature finishes a Long Rest the creature can add 1d6 to any ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, potentially turning a failure into a success. Once a creature does so, it can’t do so again until the start of its next turn. A separate creature can only drink from the Jug if you are willing.

Solstice Wonders

Teyvat's Treasures - A Homebrew Magic Item Collection

Genshin Impact has a lot of unique abilities to draw from. Its characters tend to be a little too specific to make into subclasses, but magical items have just enough room to make them work. If you're familiar with the game, it should be pretty clear what the inspirations for each of these are based on.

I was into the game for a while, mostly because of cute anime girls, but it has a few flaws that kept me from coming back to it. There's the way it expects you to treat it like a job and come back to it every day - an issue endemic to most gacha games, but no less a criticism for it. There's the excessive amount of grinding needed - you need to grind your characters, each of their skills, their weapons, and then when you rank up you get the opportunity to grind them all again in order to keep up with the world scaling around you. There's the gacha system itself, which has too many inherent issues to list here. There's the suspiciously white desert people. There's the way you can be banned for having custom skins that are only visible on your own computer. There's the lack of pants. There's Paimon.

It's a shame, because there are some strong character moments and dungeon designs in there.

The Genius Invokation card minigame was pretty fun at least.

Moonpetal Blossom

Consumable, very rare

“A delicate, silver-petaled flower that blooms only under the light of a full moon. When brewed into a tea it can cause a person to fall unconscious within seconds.”

When a creature consumes this potent flower they must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw or fall Unconscious for 2 hours. During this time they cannot be awakened, unless a Greater Restoration spell is cast upon them. After 2 hours, it requires an Action to wake them from their slumber, or they will continue to sleep for another 1d6 hours.

This flower is not considered a poison, nor are its effects magical. Spells such as Dispel Magic, or a Paladin’s Lay on Hands can not cure it.

Wizard – Tiny monstrosity, unaligned

An arcane anomaly is what they described the wizard to be; a rejected experiment; nothing more to worry about they said – after all, it is just a lizard, they so naively thought. Shortly after, the streets of Falbheim were shattered by spells that were exclusively known to the well-read and most exalted scholars of wizardry. With all of the city’s magical stores, arcane schools as well as magically gifted resident, the wizard found a perfect place to live, to feed and thrive.

✨New item!✨ Mister Shovel Wondrous item, rare

This magical shovel has an animated face carved into it. It works as a trusty tool and friendly digging companion. Mister Shovel can be wielded as a magic weapon, equivalent to a quarterstaff with a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls. 

Dig. As an action while holding this shovel, you can remove a 5-foot cube of dirt, sand, or clay from a space within your reach. As you dig, Mister Shovel instantly gobbles up the earth and stores it in a pocket dimension. Mister Shovel can store up to twenty 5-foot cubes of earth within itself before it’s full.

Expel Earth. If Mister Shovel has earth stored within itself, you can use your action to expel one 5-foot cube of earth onto a space within your reach. The expelled earth immediately falls to the ground and becomes a 5-foot mound of loose earth. Traversing over or through the mound is difficult terrain. A Large or smaller creature within the area must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw to see if it can successfully move into an unoccupied adjacent space, or a DC 15 Strength saving throw if it wishes to stay in its space. On a failed save, the creature is knocked prone and restrained by the weight of the earthen mound until it uses its action to free itself.

Sentience. Mister Shovel is a sentient, neutral good shovel with an Intelligence of 10, a Wisdom of 8, and a Charisma of 16. It can see and hear out to a range of 60 feet. The shovel can speak, read, and understand Common. Mister Shovel is a polite and helpful companion who is always hungry for dirt and happiest when digging. Mister Shovel doesn’t like being used as a weapon, and apologizes to anything it bonks. 

“Man! Thiths sthuffth iths good!-” Mister Shovel was blabbering excitedly through mouthfuls of dirt, barely intelligible as Jesse dug at the base of the wall.

“Shush! I’m not trying to alert the guards!” She hissed. If they were spotted, the whole fort would descend upon them. 

“Hey, itsth not MY faul-” Jesse was sweating profusely as she jammed Mister Shovel into the ground again, muffling its speech. This was a disaster. - 🖌🎨 Like our work?
