SWORDTEMBER DAY 11: PATCHWORK
Otherplace, of stained glass and fractured reality 🍃🫧
Across the blade was a patchwork of stained glass. Each pane of glass was one of four colours - blue, green, pink, and purple - and it seemed that each of those shades looked out to a distinct scene. Peering through the pale blue squares, it looked as if the sword was at the bottom of a sunny, shallow sea. Bright sunbeams caught on bubbles, and in the distance the dark shadow of fish darted on unfelt currents. Through the green glass, a windy forest at sunset. Leaves flew in the air, picked from the canopy by the warm evening breeze. The pink glass put the sword atop a high rise building, fireworks lighting up the night sky, smoke in the air, stars twinkling. Through the purple glass, only a murky, purple ooze could be seen, the concoction too opaque to glean any further information. You lean back, and gaze at the sword. A small part of you wonders if, from the other side of the window, does anything gaze back?
This one was fun, it’s nice to work on a short but intricate animation loop :}

Sanguine Slicer (any sword), Very Rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)
Day 10: Ceremony/Ritual & Day 29: Necromancer / Prompt list by @faith_schaffer
A combination of two prompts that I feel connect pretty well. In this case, I took the idea of how many people you would need to kill to take the iron in their blood and forge a sword out of it. A ritual pretty "necromancy" if you ask me. So, today I bring you not only a sword, but also a spell.

✨New item!✨
Bandolier of Many Knives
Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement)
This leather bandolier has eight daggers sheathed in it. You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with one of these magic daggers. A dagger removed (or thrown) from the bandolier vanishes at the end of your turn and reappears on the bandolier, unless you are wielding the dagger as a melee weapon. You can draw a dagger from the bandolier (no action required) as part of making an attack with it.
Fan of Blades. As an action while wearing the bandolier, you can throw all eight daggers at once. You must have a free hand to do so. Each creature in a 15-foot cone must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 8d4 + 8 piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Once this property of the bandolier has been used, it cannot be used again until the next dawn.
An engraving on the inside of the bandolier reads: “A knife for each of your problems.”

Stat a D&D Character
How it will work: After the results of the poll is done, I’ll rank the stats with the most votes and match then to the appropriate the D&D 5e standard stat array number (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8)
If this gets popular enough I might start a side blog where we make a D&D character 100% based on polls, but for now… enjoy.
Please reblog to increase sample size.

We really, really love this design. It was made along with an illustration for our Sky Knight Class (which you can find on our Patreon!). We let the stream name it, and the Moonlight Lance was born.
Who wants to create a Lunar Dragoon character now? Only us? Okay.
Moonlight Lance
Weapon (lance), very rare
“This long, thin lance is made of an alloy rumored to be from the moon. It was forged and crafted by a sect of druids that have never worked with metal, except for this one weapon. It’s dressed in druidic runes that harness the energy of the moon.”
When you hit a target with this weapon, if the moonlight property has been used and is no longer active, you deal an additional 1d8 radiant damage.
Moonlight. When you hit a creature with this magic weapon you can summon a silvery beam of pale moonlight that shines down in a 5-foot-diameter, 20-foot-high cylinder centered on the creature, dealing 2d10 radiant damage. Until this effect ends, dim light fills the cylinder. You can maintain this moonlight for 1 minute by concentrating on it as if it were a spell. When a creature enters the moonlight for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there it takes 2d10 radiant damage. You can use a bonus action to move the moonlight up to 20 feet in any direction. Once you have used this property of the weapon, it cannot be used again until you finish a long rest.
Mastercraft Weapon. Add an additional half of your proficiency bonus (rounded down) to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Join us in Discord or on Twitch every Mon\Wed\Fri to create new D&D Homebrews like magic items, monsters, or subclasses. If you want to support Cloaks & Capes check out our Patreon for 657+ magic items, 12 monsters, 200+ tokens, maps, and more for just $3\month.
We add over 30 new items a month and 1+ monster a week.

DEX 16
CON 14
INT 11
WIS 14
CHA 18
Character Synopsis: Mimi was once the child of a noble lord and lady, having been born very weak and sick, his parents would spend years trying to find a way to stabilize his condition, unfortunately they did not have the time, as Mimi’s condition worsened beyond their control and he eventually passed away. The despair of the lord and lady was felt throughout the city, as they invested in a massive funeral precession in honor of their son. All the while, Mimi’s ghost watched from their home, confused, but free. He quickly found the head maid who alongside his mother would sing him lullabies to sleep, after she feinted from the shock of seeing him, they spoke for a while and she began to understand his predicament. She insisted that he not show himself to his parents quite yet, as they would surely seek a way to bring him back from the dead rather than let him be free from the body that ailed him so. She told him to seek out the adventurers guild, and that surely he would be able to find a new way to live outside in the world until his parents moved on from their grief and could meet him again in this form.
Mimi’s Jug
Wondrous Item, Rare (Requires Attunement)

Let's change a bit today's menu with Northstar! This is a small part of an adoptable I've been working on, which is very star-themed~
Back in September, the two swords I made had a good reception, and I've been itching ever since to design more weapons. This one here is just my attempt to scratch that itch. Is this something you'd like to see more from me?
(as usual, reblogs are much appreciated!)

Phasing Dagger (dagger), Uncommon (optional attunement)
Hurling knives has never felt so good, specially when the weapon reappears in your hand after been thrown. The Pashing Dagger’s blade, crafted from a translucent metal, swirls with hues of purple and blue, akin to a cosmic nebula swirling within. The origins of these daggers are unclear, maybe they were created by blacksmiths from other planes and that, by trading good with outer beings, they ended up in the Material Plane.

Void Elemental – Medium elemental, chaotic evil
A vile disturbance in the currents of matter, a fissure in the vessel of time. In a split second of inattention, the void elemental was created and creation itself quickly learned to fear its existence. The void elemental is an arch enemy of everyone and anything alike – a planet-devouring hunger fuels its ever-changing fabric, its sheer presence nullifies life wherever it roams. Only a few dared to oppose its hollowing reign and those who did were absorbed by the very same emptiness, this eldritch being escaped from.

✨New item!✨
Chain Devil’s Embrace
Armor (chain mail or chain shirt), very rare (requires attunement by a lawful creature)
This mass of chains slithers with sinister sentience, threatening to constrict anyone in reach. Each chain ends in a rusty hook or wicked blade, perfect for snaring and lacerating victims. Donning the chains as a suit of armor is an unpleasantly confining experience, but the living metal adjusts to provide ample protection and mobility to its wearer. You can choose to don it as a suit of chain mail or a chain shirt. You have a +1 bonus to AC while wearing this armor.
Infernal Oath. In order to attune to this armor, you must declare an oath that will bind you together. The oath can be any goal, set of rules, or moral tenet that you choose, however it must be clearly defined and actionable. If the oath is of sufficient clarity and importance, it appears in written form and must be signed in blood before it burns away.
Grasping Chains. The armor has 7 charges, and it regains 1d4 + 3 expended charges daily at dawn. As an action while wearing it you can expend 1 charge to shoot out hook-tipped chains to ensnare a creature that you can see within 10 feet of you. Make an attack roll against the target with a +8 bonus. On a hit, the target takes 2d6 slashing damage and, if it is Huge or smaller, it is grappled (escape DC 16). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, takes 1d6 piercing damage at the start of each of its turns, and you can’t use Grasping Chains.
Devilish Form. While wearing the armor, as a bonus action you can invoke its infernal essence for 1 minute. For the duration, you gain the following effects:
Your skin turns blood red, your eyes glow like coals, and chains writhe across your body.
Grasping Chains’ range increases to 60 feet. It deals an extra 2d8 fire damage when it hits a target.
You are immune to fire damage.
As a reaction when a creature starts its turn within 30 feet of you and you can see one another, you can create the illusion that you look like one of the creature's departed loved ones or bitter enemies. It must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the end of its turn. Creatures that can see through illusions are immune to this effect.
Once you’ve used Devilish Form, it cannot be used again until the next dawn.
Sentience. The Chain Devil’s Embrace is a sentient, lawful evil suit of armor with an Intelligence of 11, a Wisdom of 12, and a Charisma of 14. It has hearing and darkvision vision out to a range of 120 feet. The armor communicates telepathically to the creature attuned to it and can speak, read, and understand Infernal and Common.
A sadistic chain devil named Tyrastr lives within the Chain Devil’s Embrace. The armor yearns to inflict pain and tyranny on others. It doesn’t care what the beliefs of its wearer are, so long as they are enforced meticulously and transgressors are punished without mercy.
Curse. While wearing this armor, Tyrastr demands strict adherence to your oath. If you act contradictory to your oath or do not seize an opportunity to mercilessly pursue it, the chains constrict around you and you take 1d8 piercing damage. The damage increases by 1d8 with each subsequent transgression. If this damage reduces you to 0 hit points, you immediately die and your soul is sent to hell, where it is imprisoned by a chain devil warden.
Until your attunement to this armor ends, you have disadvantage on ability checks, attack rolls, and saving throws while wearing any other armor.
A soldier kneels before you, defeated. Blood and sweat mats the hair to his face. Up close, you see he is a year or more from adulthood. The boy’s trembling rattles his armor.
“The cur prostrates itself before you, make it suffer!” Tyrastr’s vile, metallic voice pierces through your mind, dripping with sadistic glee. “This one was there, watching your home burn!”
Despite your commitment to destroy the Malefic Order for razing your temple, your rage falters. Killing this boy would be wrong. You turn your back and listen to his fleeing footsteps.
“Spineless worm! How will you avenge your brothers if you cannot do what is necessary!?”
As these words reverberate through your skull, your chain armor constricts. Links of jagged iron bite into your flesh, reopening half-healed cuts. Blood mingles with rust. The pain is exquisite.
