I have PCOS myself, I've actually been told (very aggressively) the opposite, that people with PCOS (esp those who identify as cis women) hate to be categorized as intersex for several reasons, so your comment about it really being an intersex condition was surprising.

Well, it's pretty simple:

Intersex is defined as atypical variations of sexual traits or the reproductive system. Especially if it results in a mix of traits society considers masculine and feminine.

PCOS is exactly that. It's a variation of the development of ovaries, and it often results in increased testosterone production in relation to typical AFAB people, as well as other hormonal differences, leading to a particular body type and increased chance of growing facial hair.

If that's not an intersex condition, what is?

The thing is, it hasn't been considered or treated as an intersex comdition for a long time.

So interphobia comes into play, and maybe some people who have it don't want to identify that way. But mostly, what you're encountering is bullshit from gatekeepers.

The intersex community is full of people who've been deeply traumatized and fighting fruitlessly for recognition for generations. It's pretty easy for us to fall prey to the urge to gatekeep, even though intersex is a really wide and varied umbrella covering a hugely diverse set of conditions and experiences.

And then you've got the TERFs and their ilk trying to define us and pit us against trans people, and sewing misinformation that way. The whole "cis women who have PCOS don't want to identify as intersex" thing really sounds like it comes from them, honestly.

Anyway, if you ask an actual intersex activist, or just about any scientist who works at an intersex clinic (such as Seattle Children's Hospital Differences in Sex Development) they'll say it's really an intersex condition.

Every time I learn something about the comditions that actors were put under to film scenes in live action media, it makes me wish more desperately that animation was a more respected medium. ok last post reminded me of an arguement i had with myself in the shower. its like actually really weird to me that the popular perception of Those Eastern European Buildings is that theyre bleak and sad.... like maybe its bc i grew up in them but theyre just. buildings.. lik3 yeah sure a lot of the time theyre not in great comdition and the insulation has cracks but thats just cos theyre like. old... also soviet city planning means that residential areas (idk what the fuck a lakótelep is in english lol) are actually so much more liveable than newer areas u hear so much abt how ppl living in the new suburbs have to drive to the doctor and taking kids to school takes an hour sometimes and also if u live in that type of building u have much more of a chance to participate in your community bc ur not like isolated but all that aside the buildings themselves are so utterly neutral to me. its a house people live there

Last night, I had a dream about rebirth and overcoming an abuser. Someone similar to the abuser killed me, and after being resurrected in a different form, I awoke with my abuser, forced to work for him under awful comditions. I gathered my courage and strength and left that person. I gained power, in my absence, and even gained the ability to turn into a giant snake. Eventually, I stumbled upon my abuser by accident and challenged him to a fight. I dreamt that, after I killed him in battle, I opened the safe of that abuser - something that was extremely precious and important to him in the dream - and instead of money or jewels, as I had expected, it was two hand-written letters from me and a personal item of mine that I had left behind the first time I left. I simply stared at the items for a while, repeating "there's no money in here" to myself, then I woke up.

In the end, I don't think it matters how an abuser feels about you. Do what makes you feel happy and safe. Leave. Block them. Cut them out of your life completely. Do not consider, even for a moment, how they feel, and worry only about how you feel. You've given them enough; it's now time to give back to yourself.

Autism and self-withdrawal

Hello,

I started to notice that as I age, episodes when I can‘t talk and in extreme cases not even move get more frequent, and I was wondering if anyone knew some tricks on how to deal with it.

It usually happens in times of extreme and more negative emotions, where I kinda feels like I‘m gonna have a panic attack but instead just freeze and become mute. It really isn‘t that I don’t want to talk, I just can‘t. It‘s completly impossible. In the first couple of minutes I usually also am unable to move, just staring into the distance. The whole comdition usually lasts for a couple of hours, though I can force myself to talk after around half an hour, but it‘s very difficult. I get an extreme stutter and can only repeat things.

I am autistic and I think that‘s where it comes from, but I am usually able to talk without problems, so that‘s what confuses me a bit.

I feel like I should repeat, it‘s really not a choice to not talk, it‘s completly involuntarily and I hate it. Really, any tipps would be appreciated, and honestly, my utmost respect to people who always have to deal with being non-verbal. So many people talked down to me at least personally, I am very sorry you always have to deal with that.
