metalbending is an established thing! we collectively agreed that the the fic would take place around/slightly before the lok timeline, so metalbending is commonplace enough in society for people to like. use it in infrastructure and base businesses around. there are trains .

and like in lok, not every earthbender will automatically be able to metalbend (yuuji can't!), but it's certainly widespread enough that people won't hail you as some kind of prodigy or freak of nature if you openly metalbend -- same with lightning and bloodbending; tho the latter *is* still socially taboo and comes with certain unsavoury associations, particularly in the water tribes. tbh it's probably also some level of illegal but we haven't put too much thought into that.,, anyway

we don't have a whole lot of earthbenders among the main cast I'm realizing but for reference, nobara and nanami can both metalbend! nobara prefers it over straight earthbending, whereas nanami is a lover of the classics and uses it sparingly

it’s been a few days since the argument. 

ayato had been given an extension due to his circumstances, and didn’t have to worry about the ruined papers due to the kindness from the city's higher-ups who assigned him such papers in the first place. a lot of them were salvageable, too.

once he finished them, he leaned back, smiling from the stress relief. he got up, grabbed a cup of tea from the kitchen, and realized something.

you weren’t in the main room, waiting for him to leave his office so you two could spend some time together.

he then thought back about the events that took place. his chest immediately fills with regret at the words spoken to you. coincidentally, ayaka walked into the room.

“ayaka, have you seen y/n?” he hurried to his sister, who simply sighed.

“they’ve been in their room. they’ve been beating themselves up about the incident, so now they’re afriad of moving incase they bother you more,” she brushed past him. “good luck making amends. they’re incredibly hurt.”

he nodded, processing the information. he pacewalked to your shared bedroom, where he opened the door to see your sleeping form. 

he sat next to you, stroking your hair until you woke up. when you felt a hand on top of your head, you flinched a little bit.

“who’s there?” you said in a soft voice, unwilling to cause more issues by lashing out or showing aggression. 

“ayato,” he took his hand off your head. “i’ve come to say i’m sorry.”

you got up and found the headboard, slowly resting yourself up on it. “why all of the sudden? i hope you understand that you really hurt me, ayato. i’ve been too scared to get up these last few days because of the way you made me feel. the only times i’ve gotten up were to go to the restroom, bathe, and eat, but thoma would bring me something here. i still think about the words you said and your gestures.”

he looked down, sighing. he didn’t realize how much of an effect his words and actions had on you, but now that he’s hearing it from you, it seems like two more tons added to his shoulders. “don’t worry about it. it was salvageable, and you hadn’t ruined anything.”

“i wish you told me that when it happened, ayato,” you started to tear up. “i forgive you, but i don’t want to hear that again. it made me feel like shit.”

he nodded, hugging you tight, letting you cry into his shoulder. you felt around his body to realize he was wearing his white and blue suit, the one he usually goes out to fight in. 

“i’m not ruining this suit, right…?” you brought your face off his shoulder, but he immediately shoved it back in the same spot, silently telling you the obvious answer. 

he was glad he was able to resolve things. he couldn’t imagine a life without you.

it’s been about a week since wriothesley has seen you. he figured you went out of the fortress, staying over at a hotel or with a friend, like navia or chlorinde. he pretty much figured it would be chlorinde, considering she hasn’t come down to the fortress or has tried to initiate contact with him since the incident. 

he figured he’d try knocking on both doors, starting with navia. once navia told him everything he needed to know; that you were with chlorinde, he rushed over to her place.

“what are you doing here?” she scoffs as she opened the door, leaning against the doorframe. “your wife told me everything. i hope to trust that you didn’t embarrass her in front of the people who work for the palais mermonia, especially monsieur neuvillette himself.”

he shook his head, rubbing at his temples. “just let me see her, would you? i want to apologize.”

she nodded, clearing the doorway, allowing him to rush into the spare bedroom. 

you knew he was the one coming towards your room, considering his footsteps were a lot heavier than anyone you’ve ever known. his were tough, threatening. 

“wriothesley! w-what are you-” you started, your heart beating a little faster.

“i want to apologize for the things i said. i didn’t have to completely redo all my papers, and neuvillette understood the situation, and i was able to get an extent.”

you shook your head. “so you embarrassed me then, huh? you told them everything? that your stupid blind wife who is not even near good enough for you ruined your work?” 

he was speechless. he didn’t know how to respond to that sentence, so he put his hands on your shoulders, asking for silent permission to take you into a hug. once you nodded, he embraced you tightly. 

“no, i didn’t tell them that. i told him it was just a spill, and that i was able to save some of the papers. neuvillette is a very understanding man, and this never happens. i never need new copies or need extents, so he was willing to do it this time. nothing about you came up in our conversation,” he swallowed a lump in his throat before going on. “and you’re not stupid. you’re also the perfect choice for me, not good enough my ass. no matter what i have to do to make you see that, just because you have a disability doesn’t mean you’re unworthy.”

you started to cry, letting the tears spill into his chest, creating a damp spot on his tie. 

“so you don’t hate me then?” you sniffed.

“no, not at all. i couldn’t bring myself to hate you for something as dumb as that.”

Y/N could feel the ropes turning her skin red, she doesn't know how long its been but definitely a couple of hours, from the tiny window she could see the sun going down.

The back of her head hurt bad, she must've of been hit by something hard, her arms and legs aches from being tied tightly in the same position.

She couldn't believe she got into this position. She was visiting her Dads family in Chicago for a couple days when she got kidnapped by a serial killer.

She was taken by the Unsub while she was walking around seeing where her Dad lived as a child, she didn't know what happened one minute she was walking then it was black.

When she woke up the 12 year old was tired uncomfortably tight to a chair in a dark room with know lights, suddenly the doors opens and down comes a man.

He was white and looked around 30, he had a creepy grin on his face as he watched the little girl quirm on the chair. "What do you want with me" she asks the creep hoping to keep him busy.

The creep only smiled and held up a knife, it was a large kitchen knife. Y/Ns eyes widened in horror. "No stay away! You hurt me and my dad will kill you okay he's an FBI Agent you hurt me and he won't be happy" Exclaimed Y/N, distracting hom wasn't working.

The man hesitated before bringing the knife down and cutting her exposed skin, Y/N cried in pain as he cut her arms and thighs a creepy smile in his face as he saw the blood.

As Y/N cried he cut deeper making her scream out, suddenly the door was smashed open and the Unsub was tackled to the ground by a dark blurred figure.

As the 12 year old Continued to cry she was untied by JJ who's heart hurt at the sight if Derek's daughter being hurt, Y/N falls from the chair and into the blonde woman's arms.

She limbs were to weak to move, she held the familiar persons arms tightly, JJ only shhhed and comforted the girl as Derek handcuffed the guy and got in a few punches before Rossi managed the pull the pissed off man away.

JJ pulled Y/N up so she was standing. "Derek"she hissed to the still pissed off man, this made his snap out of his kill mode and into Dad mode.

"Y/N!" He ran over to hiss till crying daughter and picked her up being mindful of her cuts, he held her tightly in his arms as she cried harder knowing she was safe.

Derek ran his hands through her hair, once she was patched up the team took her to the jet, after everything that happened she needed to be with ber Dad.

Y/N slept on the couch on the jet while the others sat around the table and in the other seats in the jet, as they debriefed Derek kept sneaking glances at his still sleeping daughter.

Y/N twists in her sleep a pain filled expression on her face.

In her dream she was back in the basement, but instead of thr creepy man it was her Dad who was hurting her.

With a scream she woke up, she fell off the couch in her haste tk stand up, Derek was on his feet at once racing over to Y/N.

another thing she hadn't noticed was the wet patch on her clothes, Her nightmare had scared her enough to make the girl pee herself.

Derek didn't cared and focused on comforting his daughter from her nightmare, the man had gathered the almost teenager into his arms and on his lap.

He wrapped his arms arounder her providing pressure and rocked back and forth, the team watch as the Man manages to calm down the girl, her scream had made them all jump on edge.

Derek whispers words of comfort and gently she's Y/N, 15 minutes the girl is calmed and Derek let go but held her on his lap as she let's go of his tear sodden shirt.

She then realised the wet patch on her trousers, blushing bright red she started to cry again making her Dad worried. "Shh Shh hey Baby what going on huh?" He whispers to her as she dug her head into his shoulder.

She then mumbles something that Derek couldn't hear. "What was that Baby?" He whispers moving his ear closer so he wouls hear what she was whispering.

"I'm sorry Daddy" she whispers still crying. Derek was confused "why arw you sorry honey?" He asks earning a sniffle.

Y/N breathes before answering "because I peed myself I didn't mean to Daddy honest" Derek understands her embarrassment.

He hugs her tightly and kisses her forehead. "That's alright sweetheart it wasn't your fault, it was the nightmare, how about you let JJ help you get changed out of those wet clothes yeah?" He asks earning a nod as an answer.

Smiling hrs stands up and sets Y/N down next to him the little girl holds his t-shirt tightly as her Dad calls JJ over.

"Hey JJ can you help Y/N change please?" He whispers to her, JJ smiles at the two. "Of course I can, follow me Y/N" she says as takes Y/N tk get changed into dry clothes.

When the two returned Y/N curled up on her Dads lap and didn't move thr entire flight home not wanting him to leave, Derek didn't mind he was just happy to have his Daughter back safe and sound.

It was hard without him. Yet he had hurt you, but you still loved him. It was hard to pinpoint when you started arguing during morning time. You closed your eyes, and attempted to replay everything.

You stopped the brown haired boy, placed both of your hands on his upper arms and spoke, "You're covered in bruises and bandages again! For the last time, Dazai , what's going on?" The concern on you face and voice was evident.

His chestnut irises, darted around the surroundings. Not once making eye contact with you. "Nothing, it's fine." He finally responded. Quickly trying to brush off your concern.

"I don't believe that." Was all you said. Looking down at your shoes, not wanting to gazing into the eyes you love so dearly. Yet, you felt him staring down upon you.

"I can assure you, nothing is wrong. I promise." The words had finally came out of his mouth. He didn't want to make you worry. All he wanted to protect you, keep you safe.

"Samu, you've been getting beat up. You have all these bandage's on you, and other medical patching's on your body. Something's up, please tell me." You pleaded, you hated seeing him injured.

He let out a huffy sigh, before looking at you. "I told you already! Nothing is wrong! Everything is fine! Alright?" He snapped, his voice was unintentionally raised. He could feel you hands tensing up on his arms. "I care about you okay? I'm worried! So stop telling me everything is fine when it's clearly not!" You yelled back at him. You were frustrated.

From that point onwards it escalated, you felt horrid. You placed your lunchbox to the side of you on the grass. Looked up upon the clear blue sky, watching the clouds roll by. Enjoying the quiet, or at least trying to.

That was until you felt something on your lap. You looked down to find a familiar face laying there. Upset. You ran your fingers through his hair, as a silent way of saying it's okay.

He mumbled sorry, over and over again. Though, it was barely able to be heard. "I forgive you, just please be more careful." Was all that you said. There was a long silence before being followed with him saying one singular thing.

"I love you."

Everytime he come home his lunch were left uneaten,it irritated you a little but not as much as how worried you're for him. He's also been quite distance for the last day

When you tried to talk about it to Dottore,he just scoff at you and said it's nothing other than fatui business,you know his jobs as a harbinger is not an easy task to do. Serving under tsaritsa,his life or death was even on her hands.
