This trend in modern online games that only show a vague cell phone reception bar for your ping are stupid as fuck and I have a suspicion they're almost always showing a good connection even when someone doesn't. Playing Battlebit and not one person on the server has less than "full bars" yet I can see motherfuckers rubberbanding, shots that land take a moment before they actually deal damage and other signs of lag. Having that number telling me exactly how much time delay to expect is way more helpful than a stupid graph that isn't even accurate at telling "good" from "bad."

THE ANIMATION VERSUS KICKSTARTER HAS LAUNCHED !!!!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/animationversus/animation-versus
which MEANS im going to make a post detailing everything of course .

https://youtu.be/K4lvfmbMkcw?si=73cLDy92Aaron3yL
god. GOD !!!!!!! IM SO EXCITED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY SHIT DUDE
the game looks INSANELY good already and that's considering the game, as we see it, is supposed to release in 2028 !
it looks like it has 28 days to go to achieve its goal (and it already is doing really weel as i write this XD i mean, 14k dollars already??? god DAMN !!!)
(new art on kickstarter page! the artist cooked)
i find it INCREDIBLY cool that the lead developer of the project is the person who made the ava/m rivals of aether mod. how cool is that dude
right away from the trailer im incredibly happy they're including purple in the main cast (another purple cameo on alanspc for the win)
(i do admire the way blue is just fine with it)
the fighting kits are INSANE MAN ?? its a little surprising that orange's main moves are projectiles (which however is incredibly cool. both a throwback to anim vs. physics and (unintentional?) parallel with vic perhaps) <- (although, now reading it, it seems like the projectile objects will rotate with every move!)
green having a guitar in his kit ???? are you kidding. /vpos . i was wondering how they would optimize blue's kit but it looks SO cool dude (its likely im going to be a blue main XD)
red's kit looks interesting, especially with the shark move! its genuinely not surprising that its red who's kit currently looks best ingame lol. it's also no wonder purple's kit is best at air attacks!
the backgrounds are just. Holy hell.
the whole fact they're making like. 4 different backgrounds per Stage ??? Good lord.
and. hello??? hello? hi ???? hello ????? im Sane ???????
other notable details: its so cool to get more details on the city from up above, seeing it's so progressed. other details: "primoral descent" billboard which is a reference to dj's original comic! plus corndog guy's stand in the second bg (also we really gotta acknowledge that moon exists in the outernet sometime.)
(as im writing this the amount of money has already went up to 34k. holy hell.)
its interesting to me as well that the game's version of special attacks charge bar is a "node meter"! another one for the computer/internet references

("a node in network refers to any physical device or point that is capable of sending, receiving, or forwarding data")
which also seems like a general running theme for the fighting scene in game itself, given that those "nodes" are also seen on the art and the character's fighting profiles
it seems like the game will either feature new game-specific soundtrack or compile existing soundtrack into a batch (which is making me Squeal because im so interested in how individual soundtracks are going to be named — yes im a fan of such details XD)
the reward tiers are. hough. holy hell
beta tests ???? tco palette???? (as im guessing with sec?????) exclusive character pins??????? FUTURE DLC???????
(also, cursor lobby pet implies that there Will be a lobby. lol)
the kickstarter page also says: "Today, we have six characters that we’re excited to share with you. With your help, we’ll be able to bring even more iconic heroes and villains from AvA into the game!"
if that means we WILL eventually get rocketcorp characters + king. oh my god. oh my god.
and also. DIGITAL ART BOOK??????
(selling my kidney.)
plus. "At some of our higher tiers we're offering the opportunity to join a development meeting to see how to game is made, and the option to design your own original character stick figure in a level background!" Hello ?????
god i barely can word anything right now dude im so excited i cant stop stimming what the HELL !!!!!!!!
#animator vs animation#animation vs animator#animation vs minecraft#animation versus#alan becker#haha point and laugh typo in the last official outtake/j#the fact it IS multiplayer means we can as well do . heh. competitions. looks at my friend#oh im so sane about the rocket billboard oh my god.#also i just noticed. cursor palette? Inch resting

Forest farm used to be my go-to for the foraging but now it's *gotta* be the meadowlands farm. Not just for the chickens but because the farm itself is gorgeous. The waterfalls??? Hello???
I had been worried there would genuinely not be enough space for crops but I don't tend to grow a lot of crops at all in this game (I tend to go pretty slowly tbh, and by the time I get to late game I'll also have Ginger Island for ancient fruit and other moneymakers) and the more I've explored the farm the more I've been like "yeah no that's enough space"
Concernedape please never nerf the meadowlands farm it's so so good
#i saw someone say the meadowlands gave players too much of an edge#and im like. an edge over who? it's not a competitive game? multiplayer is cooperative on the same farm?#stardew valley#stardew valley 1.6#stardew valley spoilers

i have had anger issues since i was old enough to develop teenage angst but one thing that's very very funny about that is i can NOT fathom getting remotely angry at a video game. the Second im not having fun i just stop playing. quite simply i just walk away
#not to say people are (always) stupid or something for getting mad at Video Game#i get it. god knows i get pissed at the Smallest things#but even in super ''intense'' competitive multiplayer games or something#i just can Not get angry#like at that point my only goal is to be a complete jackass#thats entertaining to me#posting#in a similar vein if im told the game gets good past like... two hours... i am absolutely not playing that

saw your hcs post and just had to say
sonic would annoy shadow enough for them to play minecraft together
and he’d build a little cottage for their players to live in together
shadow would act like it’s annoying but secretly enjoy their play sessions
THAT IS SO CUTE...I imagine Shadow being tech-illiterate, so him playing Minecraft with Sonic would gives his (Sonic's) ADHD brain something to do. Mainly everything, Sonic does everything. Mines, builds, etc. Shadow farms and fishes. Shadow is not good at this game. Shadow is trying to chop trees by clicking instead of holding the left mouse button. Shadow is so close to grabbing the Minecraft handbook next to his chair. I can't stress how much I love Shadow struggling with tech as a character trait. Chronically offline hedgehog who has minecraft and skype installed on his user of the Team Dark computer and that's it
#LOVED THIS!!#mailbox archive#thinking about them playing chill multiplayer games or s#like. competitive party video games LOL

Ultimate Guide to Mario Kart World's Knockout Mode
youtube
What is Knockout Mode in Mario Kart World?
Mario Kart World’s Knockout Mode brings a new twist to the racing experience. It's a high-stakes competition where only the top racers advance after each round. Think of it like a survival race — fall behind, and you're out. This fast-paced mode throws players into chaotic tracks, sharp turns, and constant item mayhem. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to Mario Kart, Knockout Mode offers something fresh and intense.
If you're wondering how it works or want to improve your game, this guide breaks it all down — from gameplay flow to pro tips. Let’s jump into the action and see how to survive the madness.
How Knockout Mode Works
In Knockout Mode, the goal isn’t just to race — it’s to survive each elimination round. After every lap or checkpoint, the bottom percentage of racers gets cut. You must keep your position above the cutoff line to stay in the game. This adds tension from start to finish.
Each round gets harder. Fewer racers stay in the match, the tracks get more chaotic, and power-ups come into play more often. The competition stays intense with every lap, and there’s almost no room for mistakes. One misstep can knock you out — literally.
The Maps Are Wild and Fast-Paced
Mario Kart World includes some of its most visually striking and complex tracks in Knockout Mode. For example, Moon Rally throws in unexpected turns, sudden hazards, and flying objects that make each lap unpredictable.
These maps test your timing and item strategy. New tracks feel like roller coasters: sharp curves, jumping platforms, and close calls with environmental obstacles. Each course feels custom-built for fast elimination rounds, adding extra challenge even for experienced players.
Item Strategy: Use Power-Ups Wisely
In Knockout Mode, power-up management is critical. Green shells, for instance, aren’t just for throwing — they’re also your best defense. Holding one behind you can block incoming red shells and keep you from falling in rank. The golden mushroom gives a big boost, but timing its use right can make or break a round.
The real key? Don’t waste what you pick up. Saving the right item until the final stretch can mean the difference between qualifying or getting eliminated. Players who understand item timing will outlast others, especially in the late rounds.
Surviving the Thresholds
Each race is broken into threshold eliminations. At the end of specific checkpoints, only the top players move on. For example, you might need to place in the top 20 in the first round, then top 12, then top 8, and so on. The number of survivors shrinks every time.
This format rewards consistency. You can't just rely on a single strong lap — you have to stay ahead round after round. Even a few seconds of slowdown can push you below the cutoff. That pressure creates a whole new kind of excitement, different from standard Mario Kart races.
Dealing with Chaos: Stay Focused
One of the most noticeable things in Knockout Mode is how chaotic it gets. Between rockets flying, red shells chasing, and players bumping into each other, it’s easy to lose your rhythm. Staying calm and focused is key, especially when power-ups are flying everywhere.
Sometimes, you’ll drop from first place to the bottom in just a few seconds. The best thing you can do is recover quickly. Use mushrooms to boost back into the pack, and don’t panic if you get hit — Knockout Mode rewards players who can bounce back fast.
Comebacks Are Possible (With the Right Luck)
Even if you fall behind, there’s still a chance to make a comeback. Lucky power-ups, like the golden mushroom or bullet bill, can push you back into qualifying position. The key is to use them at the right time, especially right before a threshold checkpoint.
When you're trailing, you need to race smarter, not harder. Avoid hazards, take clean turns, and aim for item boxes. With one good set of boosts, you can jump multiple places in seconds — and sometimes, that’s all you need to stay in the game.
The Final Round: High Stakes Racing
Once you reach the final round, the pressure hits a new level. Only a few racers remain, and the course often includes tougher layouts and more traps. Everyone is using their best power-ups and most aggressive tactics. Mistakes here are costly.
At this stage, holding a top-three spot is key. Even small boosts, clean turns, or blocking a red shell can decide the winner. You’ll need to use every skill you’ve learned in the earlier rounds to keep your position and aim for the win.
Why Knockout Mode Is a Must-Play
Knockout Mode stands out from other Mario Kart formats by being unpredictable, fast-paced, and thrilling. It mixes skill with strategy and a little luck, creating a unique racing experience each time. It’s competitive without being overly serious — perfect for both casual players and veterans.
It’s also a great way to test your consistency. Since you’re racing to survive, each round pushes you to improve. Whether you win or lose, Knockout Mode offers intense action and fun that regular races sometimes lack.
Conclusion: Give Knockout Mode a Shot
If you haven’t tried Knockout Mode in Mario Kart World, now’s the time. It’s one of the most exciting additions to the game in recent memory. Whether you're in it to win or just for the fun chaos, there's always something happening in each round.
Stay alert, manage your items, and keep your cool under pressure — and you just might find yourself crossing the final finish line. Even if you don’t win, Knockout Mode is a blast to play and worth every round. Jump in, and see how far you can go.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1: What is Knockout Mode in Mario Kart World? Knockout Mode is an elimination-style race where players get removed after each checkpoint based on their rank.
Q2: How do you survive each round in Knockout Mode? You need to stay above the cutoff ranking. This means racing consistently and using power-ups wisely.
Q3: Can you win Knockout Mode without being in first place all the time? Yes. You just need to avoid being in the bottom placements during elimination rounds and perform well in the final round.
Q4: Are certain items better for Knockout Mode? Yes. Defensive items like green shells and offensive boosts like mushrooms are key for staying in the race.
Q5: Is Knockout Mode good for new players? Definitely. It’s fast-paced but easy to learn, and every match teaches you how to handle pressure and improve your racing skills.

Seeing how Silver is fine with the Chaotix and Espio might likely be friendly to Blaze. I wonder how all of them together like some kind of family meet-up.
The idea of prim and proper Blaze sitting in the Chaotix Detective Agency is definitely a funny one, considering it's often been shown as a kinda cluttered mess XD XD But I think she and Espio could be good acquaintances, certainly! They're both very serious and a bit withdrawn and quiet, and where Espio takes his training very seriously Blaze does the same with the Sol Emeralds and her kingdom. I think they've got quite a lot they can bond over! <3
Though, now that I think of it, Blaze and Vector are also on good terms with each other in TSR. Now she just needs to meet Charmy, haha!
#I really really reaaaaaaallllly hope Crossworlds has a storymode#I'll buy it SOLELY for that (assuming it's not 80-100 bucks lmao) (I'm not one for competitive multiplayer lol)#I want to see them interact with each other and work on unravelling the plot together like they did in TSR!!

so, like, embarrassing question to anyone who’s ever played fps games: how the literal hell do you get into them without having them shoved into your hands and/or being naturally good??? bc i haven’t played since i was like 12/13 ish and i thought i was p good at the time? but all these fucking menus are so awful to navigate i feel like i’m getting put in with veterans every time i try them again. plus also i have like nasty anxiety about them which might be unreasonable??
kind ranty but like i just want to play the games i bought now that i don’t have an annoying little brother breathing down my neck every time i boot up a fps but im terrified to try them
#i might just be too old for multiplayer at 20 years#but like i’m sick of playing solo rpgs and stuff#i want COMPETITION#idk what games to tag with#cod#cod mw3#r6siege#warframe#??#fps games

You know what multiplayer games are sleeping on?
Good singleplayer campaigns. Good AI opponents.
I'm not just saying that for the people who lack people to play the game with. I'm saying it as a means to introduce players to competitive play.
A good singleplayer can introduce so much to the player in a controlled environment so they don't get blindsided as hard by multiplayer knowledge checks. It wouldn't even feel like a tutorial, it would just feel like overcoming a challenge.
I'm not saying multiplayer games dont have singleplayer content, I just mean that they're sleeping on the potential. A lot I've seen will have AI opponents that all generally use the same strategies. That, and/or the singleplayer content is vastly different from the multiplayer experience so it prepares you for nothing.
Instead, many multiplayer games are focused on tutorials that break down all of the mechanics and controls. That's cool and all, tutorials are valuable. However, teaching the player how to play the game does not teach the how it feels to play the game.
You're making a ton of decisions from one moment to the next. Each decision impacts your play. The most a "How To Play"-ass tutorial is gonna do is hold up a sign telling you your options, but you're already dead before you get a chance to read it all.
In my mind, good AI opponents aren't just competent enough to be challenging. They need to be able to perform playstyles that a real player would have. They'll prepare a player for the situations they'll encounter in a match against real people.
Have an AI that camps in a competitive shooter. Have an AI that heavily relies on reversals against your approach in a fighting game, an AI that intentionally rams others in a racing game, an AI that stockpiles powerful cards instead of playing them early in a card game, and many more strategies people actually do.
There's so much you can do with this and I just don't see it often.
#game design#video games#i took a competitive multiplayer angle on this post but this applies to co-op games as well#theres so many games I want to design AI opponents for because the devs never did it.
