anyone reading this if you have excoriation disorder/dermatillomania (objectively both cool names for it) i love you. 🥺 if you haven't picked in months/years, have scars over it, struggle to resist the urge or still have multiple daily picking sessions every day, if you pick your arms or legs or face or scalp (or if you're like me and nowhere is safe from the picking) you are so cool and i think we should not have to be self conscious about it

Hi I live in the Uk and I'd like to know the best way I could watch 'Scars of Shame'? See I have Dermatillomania and only found out about the disorder last November, but realised I had been suffering with it for a few years. Please help me! Thanks!
Hello!
Last year Scars of Shame became free to watch on Skin Picking Support's website!
Please click on the link above to see the documentary. I'd love to know your thoughts! Thank you! 💜

A thing I've wondered: Why was pre-reincarnation Hotaru always depicted in long sleeves in the anime, despite the anime storyline never alluding to her being a cyborg (unlike the manga?)
Tumblr media
In the manga (and Crystal), she wears long sleeves and leggings over her skirt to hide the fact that she's a cyborg. The lie that she first tells Chibiusa and Usagi, however, is that she has many scars and that she's covering those up.
In my headcanon, Hotaru from the 90's anime does have scars she's trying to hide, but they're self-inflicted. She has dermatillomania, also known as compulsive skin picking or excoriation disorder.
I've wanted to write something about one of the Sailor Moon characters having dermatillomania for a while, since I've also got it (yes, me, hello) and LET ME FUCKING TELL YOU is it a daily struggle. And there are really no fictional characters out there (at least none that I know of) that have it.
Headcanoning her as someone who has the same body-focused repetitive behaviors that I also do really helps me feel seen, and if this also helps anyone else, even if it's just one other person, then that's fucking awesome.

I got three job interviews on the same day, had a compulsive skin picking episode yesterday, and now my mom made me move my car for no reason. I am so close to a mental breakdown.
Tumblr media
My forehead and cheeks are covered in sores but I gotta shower and plaster makeup on my face to hide it. I hardly got any sleep last night and I’m just trying to make it!

Y’all stop romanticizing and/or dismissing ocd and adhd, it’s not a joke. That’s stuff we have to live with. Thanks. 👍
