Chishiya x GN!Reader

Genre: Angst (TW: Death, mentions of being stabbed by a glass shard, possibly rushed oneshot) Romantic In which Chishiya makes it out of the borderlands and remembers everything, including losing you.

"Game complete"

The last thing Chishiya remembered was laying slouched against a car holding his bleeding side, then fireworks, then nothing.

The next thing he hears after being completely knocked out is the beeping of what he knows is a heart monitor. He opens his eyes slowly to see a doctor standing beside someone he couldn't make out yet, since his eyesight was adjusting to the lights; and he could slowly hear the doctors voice increase to more than just something muffled.

"..for a minute your heart stopped, as well as the person beside you. It's a miracle you're alive, you both were in the border between life and death."

Border. Life and death.

Chishiya's head turned to the side after the doctor left, coming face to face with a male with long black hair up to his shoulders. His eyebrows knit together in confusion. He felt like he knew who this was, but couldn't put a finger to it.

"Seriously? Out of all people, I have to be next to you?" The male mumbled, and Chishiya instantly recognized the sharp tone.

"Niragi?"

"Yeah, who else? Did you want it to be Y/N?"

Y/N?

Chishiya stared at the ceiling. Y/N? Who was that? Why did he feel a tug at his heart, hearing their name?

"That look on your face tells me you don't remember who they are." Niragi spoke up again, and Chishiya turned to him.

"You know, you guys were incredibly soppy. After that King of Spades game, you wouldn't let go of them, begging them to hold on because it was almost over. I never imagined you'd be capable to cry over someone" Niragi snickers

Then it hits Chishiya.

They were in the borderlands fighting the King of Spades, and Y/N had helped Arisu lead the King to the pharmacy, where they blew him up. He also remembered seeing Y/N tumble into the gravel, a glass shard protruding from their chest. He remembered holding them close, begging them to hold on a little while longer, because everything was going to be just fine.

He sat up suddenly, ripping the IV cords off himself and heading out ignoring Niragi's protests. He quickly walked down the hall, searching for the main desk.

He needed to see them, to make sure they made it.

"Excuse me, was there a patient named Y/N L/N here?" He asks urgently, and the nurse goes through the file. "Room 603-" Chishiya interrupted with a quick 'thank you' before hurrying off, not wanting to waste a single second.

Room 600, Room 601, Room 602-

"Y/N!" He burst into the room only to freeze in the doorway to see Kuina holding into their pale hand, tears in her eyes. He gave her a questioning look, and she shook her head slowly.

No.

"Chishiya.. they got them here safely, but they lost a lot of blood due to the glass in their chest. They were able to last through the week, but they were too weak today." She explained

Please no.

He went up to them, holding their hand. It felt cold and limp against his skin, and he held their hand to his cheek as he gazed at their peaceful figure.

One whole week. They were here one whole week, and he missed it.

He got discharged and headed home seeing his lights were still on exactly how he'd left it during the borderlands. He remembered taking Y/N here, how they'd hugged out the possible last few minutes of the games away. How they'd finally confessed their love for one another, after so long.

"Chishiya, what if I told you I loved you?" He glanced at Y/N, caressing their cheek, a small smile on his face. "What if I told you I felt the same?"

He wished he could've told them a little earlier, if only he hadn't wasted precious time secretly admiring Y/N.

If he did, would they be together? Would Y/N still be on the couch lazing with a book and hot cocoa, greeting Chishiya with a hug and a 'welcome back'?

Chishiya was home but it felt empty.

Empty, because they were no longer there.

He would be so lucky to even know that you like him. Just do it. Please, it’s hurting me seeing you like this.” she answers. “Okay.”

You pull up to Alex’s house, ready to confess all your feelings. As you look in the driveway, you see another car. Your mind immediately goes to bad things, but you take the safe way and just assumed it was a friend.

Walking up to the same door you’ve walked up to for the last 3 years to hang out, but it’s different this time, way different. you ring the doorbell, all of your memories flooding in your mind. While thinking, the door open and you see your bestfriend, also your crush. Your mind is swirling with thoughts and your heart is pounding because of your emotions.

“Hey Alex. I’ve been thinking a lot lately and i just have to tell you that I-“ was all you got out until you saw the door creek open more slightly and a beautiful blonde girl is in view. “Who is this?” you ask him. “Uhh Y/n, this is Angel, my girlfriend..” he responds.

Before you could even try to respond, you start tearing up. “Oh, um I should go..” “No, what did you want to say?” he asks. “Yeah, what were you trying to say?” Angel says is a snarky tone. “It doesn’t matter, i can just talk to you later.” you say on the brink of tears. “No tell me plea-“ “Do you really wanna know!?” you say. You’re just so tired and didn’t care anymore. “Alex. All i wanted was you…”

You just couldn’t take it anymore. You ran off to your car but before you could open the door, Alex caught up to you and stopped you. “What? Go back to your loving girlfriend.” you yelled. While that whole thing went down, there was massive downfall that started to happen. You and Alex were just sitting out in the middle of the rain. He yelled back, “Just give me a chance to explain!” You just stared at him. “Okay go ahead.” you say. “Y/n, i’ve always liked you. But I never wanted to ruin our friendship. And you know, I thought getting with her would make my crush for you go away, but it didn’t. it just made it stronger.”

There's a lurch and a lot of dizziness, and suddenly Grimmauld Place looks like it hasn't seen a living person in decades. There is a boy of Regulus' age though, looking exactly as exhausted and done with the world as Regulus feels. Regulus survived the cave filled with Inferi. Sometimes - like when he's hurled through time into a future that is incredibly different from his own - he couldn't help but wish he didn't.

“Jesus Christ!” Y/N exclaims, almost jumping out of her skin, getting the fright of her life as she enters the funeral home.  

“Not Jesus, only Christopher,” the vampire smiles smugly, proud that he managed to scare her, as he makes his way out of the shadows. “I thought you said you weren’t easily frightened?”  

“Have you seen my crucifix? I could really use it right now,” she huffs, pretending to search for the intricately designed cross she wears daily around her neck. It's only then that she realizes it's missing.  

“You mean this crucifix? The one I told you many times, doesn’t work?” he asks holding up the pendant that hangs on a matching silver chain.  

“I have holy water too,” you say snatching the necklace, an heirloom that’s been in your family for centuries, back.  

“I’m not a demon,” he says looking disgusted.  

“Might as well be,” she retorts, in annoyance. “"Now that you've successfully scared the crap out of me, don’t you have someone else to bother?”  

His smug look becomes somber and she feels guilt for what she said. The lack of people in his life is a bit of a touchy subject. He’d watched from the shadows as his seven closest friends, people he considered brothers, live their human lives, creating families of their own, and grow old as he remained the same. He would occasionally show himself to let them know he’s okay and still there but now they are all gone and the only company he has is the pretty undertaker with extremely good tastes in music.  

“I’m sorry,” Y/N quickly apologies, scolding herself for not thinking before she spoke. Despite their differences, her being alive and him being both dead and alive, Chan is someone she genuinely enjoys spending time with. Even if it’s in the middle of the night, in a funeral home, while she’s doing her job.  

“You didn’t mean it,” he shrugs it off, his beautiful smile on display again.   

Y/N can see in his eyes that it still bothered him. She gives him a quick hug. As she goes to pull away, he pulls her back, tightening his arms around her. At first, she’s unsure but under his cool but somehow warm touch, she melts against him.  

"It's been a while since I last hugged someone," he confesses, his voice filled with a mix of longing and vulnerability. Y/N's heart aches as she thinks about him having to be alone for so long. She comes to an understanding that their strange, weird and wonderful friendship is not a mere coincidence, but rather an opportunity for them find comfort in each other's presence  

“So, you’re a hugger,” she tries to joke to lighten the mood.  

“You have no idea,” his chuckle vibrates in his chest.  

 “I learn something new about you every day,” she says as he lets go of her. She’s a little sad about not having his arms around her. In that moment, she makes a silent promise to him. She’ll make sure to hug him more often.  

“What’s on the playlist tonight?” he asks as she starts walking to the back of the room, where a Bluetooth speaker is set up.  

“Just a little group called Stray Kids,” she says turning the speaker on and pulls out her phone. “Have you heard of them?”  

“They sound familiar,” he smiles, playing along. He thought his attempts to convince her to listen to them were futile.   

“A friend recommended them to me,” she pulls up her playlist and presses play. “He also promised to tell me all about the members.”

A setting of a  poem written by a Mr M Edgerley which he submitted to The Observer (Queensland, Australia) in 1924.

The poem is titled “A Returned Soldier’s Lament”

I’ve renamed the song 1924 partly because I have made small changes to the text  -  and have added a verse,  but also the date is really significant to the meaning of the words.  The poem references WW1 from that date: being 6 years after the war ended, 9 years after the majority of the ANZAC troops joined the war and 8 years after their greatest involvement and losses both at Gallipoli and all along the Western front.

Oh  -  and it’s going to be on our next duo album that will be out sometime this year.  Caveat warning, however; -   we’re so busy doing a load of other things  -  including the beginnings of a new Purcells Polyphonic Party album as well as festivals and folk clubs and recording for TV and games…. that any plan for launching is going to have to be quite  vague.

For the ballet films, the music was used in the score, but it was also in dance sequences that usually (but not always) slowed down the story. In other films, classical music just serves as parts of the score. With Magic of Pegasus, it's different. The way that all of the music plays into the story and skating & flying scenes is done so well that it feels as if the story was written specifically to fit the music. I'm grateful this movie (as well as other Barbie films) has helped me really appreciate classical music."
