Cruel Summer [Part 5]
ABOUT: Y/N is not happy about her boyfriend Shawn having to fake date Camila, nor is he happy about Y/N’s blossoming friendship with Connor
WORD COUNT: 4,271
NOTES: Thank you for the continued out pour of love and support for my Cruel Summer series! I love this story, so I’m glad you are all loving it too! I’m definitely interested in hearing whether you are team Shawn or Team Connor, especially after reading this part! Let me know!
Part 1 l Part 2 l Part 3 l Part 4 l Part 6
Tumblr media
You loved Shawn, you truly did, which is why you were trying so damn hard to separate what was going on, with how you felt about him. The thing was, this whole watching him “date” someone else was killing you on the inside. Part of you had to wonder if maybe even coming out here on tour to begin with had been a bad idea. As hard as it had been to be apart, and to mostly communicate through texts, phone calls, and facetime, at least you wouldn’t have had a front row seat to his arms being wrapped around another girl.
You had done your best to be supportive, and not say anything, but your heart had been broken the morning that Shawn had approached you to let you know that they needed to step things up with Camila. You knew this wasn’t going to be a conversation that you liked, especially since you could see in his own eyes that he was hurting and dreading this, but to make things look more real and believable he was going to have to kiss Camila.
 They had kissed a little bit during the filming of Senorita, but for some reason this just seemed different. He had tried to reassure you that it was just acting, and that he didn’t want to be doing it, but for the sake of all the work that they had put into this, they needed to keep it up, and of course, step it up as well. You wanted to believe that what he was saying was true, that it was different, but it certainly didn’t seem like it.
In Senorita they were playing characters. While maybe they were still to some extent playing characters now, and heightened versions of themselves, they were ultimately still being Shawn and Camila, and it hurt that your Shawn, that your boyfriend, was going to be kissing another woman.
 Then again, what could you really do? You were a nobody. You didn’t get to dictate any of this, especially since you already felt like Shawn didn’t get much of a say himself. When he told you that this wasn’t something he wanted to do, you believed him. You could see it in his face, especially when it was just the two of you alone in a room.
It had even gotten to the point that it wasn’t even something you wanted to discuss with him at all. Each night when it was just the two of you alone in your room you could see the weight of what was going on was killing him. He was stressed, he was exhausted, and you could see the guilt in his eyes when he looked at you. He knew that he was hurting you, and you knew that was killing him, and therefore you had stopped letting him in. You didn’t want to add to the stress of everything going on.
You coming to join the tour for the summer was supposed to be something fun, and something calming for Shawn, you weren’t here to cause waves or make things more difficult. Instead, you did your best to be the kind of distraction he needed, not the girl that complained about how damn hard it was to watch him with Camila, talk about Camila in interviews or the Q&A’s, or bring up just how hurt and heartbroken you were on the inside.
You knew that you were slowly breaking down, and that you couldn’t keep going on like this, but you were hopeful that somehow, or someway this would get easier. It was only supposed to be a summer fling. You could get through this, you had to.
You knew that Shawn was growing more and more frustrated with your own relationship and friendship with Connor, but it wasn’t something that you could give up. He honestly was the only one keeping you sane, especially since he did provide as the perfect distraction, and when everything got to be a little too much he was the first one to grab your hand and pull you off so the two of you could go on your own adventure.
The two of you didn’t even need to be doing anything crazy or all that significant for you to enjoy your time together. Actually, the times where you and Connor just went around taking pictures and videos, or even just sat in his hotel room while you watched him edit were more than enough for you. As long as you didn’t have to watch your boyfriend put his hands all over another woman you were happy, and Connor seemed more than happy to be that distraction.
At first you had felt rather guilty about always pulling him away from everything, but after assuring you that this too was what he’d rather be doing, you had stopped asking if it was okay, or trying to assure him that you’d be okay if you stayed around and watched the “show” that Shawn and Camila were putting on. Plus, he had long since learned to see past your bullshit answers when you tried to play it tough or cool. He knew you weren’t happy or okay, and he didn’t like you having to force yourself through it.
As much as you hated it, Shawn did make his occasional comment about it, especially after each time you put up a new selfie of you and Connor on your Instagram. It really had just become a running joke between the two of you, since he constantly teased you about your love of selfies, and you teased him about his ridiculous hatred for them. Plus, you didn’t see anything wrong with it. There were plenty of pictures out there with Shawn with Camila, so why couldn’t you have pictures of you and Conner?
That had been the original story after all. You were on tour to spend time with your friend Connor. You were only selling that storyline even further, and even more than that, Connor was your friend now. Actually, given how close the two of you had gotten the past few weeks you would argue that he was becoming one of your closest friends. The two of you just got each other, and while that maybe bugged your boyfriend, it was something that you needed, and therefore something that Shawn needed to deal with.
 As much as you wished that Shawn could be your refuge when things got tough, that just wasn’t the case. You didn’t want to add any more stress to his pile, and it did just seem to make more sense to go to Connor when you had to vent or complain. In some ways, you felt like Connor just happened to get it more than Shawn did anyway. You of course didn’t want to complain about Shawn as a boyfriend, since when it was just the two of you, he was the best, but he could get understandably defensive when he felt attacked over the situation.
You knew that he was just about as ready for this Camila stuff to be over as you were, and since it wasn’t like he was trying to hurt you on purpose you didn’t like looking at him in a negative light. Honestly, if none of this Camila stuff had happened you would argue that he had been one of the best boyfriends you had ever had, but these days it was hard to see all of that.
With Shawn’s birthday nearing you had been so excited about the idea of being able to celebrate together, and before all of this had happened, it had been the day you were looking forward to the most. Twenty-one was a pretty monumental birthday after all, and instead of being some star studded party, it was mostly going to be his best and closest friends that were invited.
However, the closer it got, and as more details of the big day, and the big party were being revealed you soon came to the realization that you weren’t going to be able to play the big part in the day that you had originally wanted and hoped for. Shawn had assured you that he wanted you close by all night, but you couldn’t hold hands or act like a couple. There were going to be cameras there after all, and if anything got leaked it would ruin everything that he, Camila, and their teams had worked towards.
While everyone on tour knew the truth about you and Shawn, most of the party goers wouldn’t know that, and it wasn’t safe to let your relationship be seen or discovered. There were already a lot of people out there that weren’t buying his and Camila’s relationship, and while selfishly that made you sort of happy, you also knew that it was in his best interest for it not to be found out what was actually happening and going on.
Like usual, you reminded yourself that you would have Connor there, and that at least made it so you weren’t completely dreading the party. This was Shawn’s big day after all, and being the good girlfriend that you were, you did want to make this as easy and drama free as possible. The day wasn’t about you, even if as his girlfriend you did feel like you should have been given a bit more consideration in all of this, but what really could you say? If it was up to Shawn you imagined he saw this day going a little differently as well, so at least there was that.
When the big day had finally arrived, you did your best to make it special for just the two of you. You were the first one to see him in the morning, which meant you were the first one that was going to be able to wish him happy birthday. That was precisely why you had woken up early, and thanks to a little arranging, and the help of a few others, you had his favorite breakfast delivered to the room, along with a cupcake that you were able to light up with the one candle that sat in the middle of it.
“Happy Birthday to you,” you softly sang, after having lit the candle and made your way over to his side of the bed where he was currently laying shirtless, in nothing more than his boxer briefs, stomach down. “Happy Birthday dear Shawn,” you continued as he turned to look at you with a boyish grin and sleepy eyes as you finished up singing. “Make a wish babe,” you directed as he quickly blew it out before finally pushing himself up and moving into a seated position with his legs off the bed.
“Thanks babygirl. You are amazing, and I’m so lucky to have you,” he smiled as he pulled you closer so he could rest his hands on your hips.
“I’m pretty sure it’s the other way around, but I’ll take it,” you playfully declare before leaning down to press your lips to his.
The two of you had definitely taken advantage of the alone time together, and had actually spent the majority of the day and early afternoon together in his room, but unfortunately that hadn’t been able to last. His family had flown in to spend the big day with him, and with lunch having been planned he had needed to say goodbye and leave.
While you had met his family, and gotten along great with all of them, there were likely pictures going to be taken, and it wouldn’t make sense for a random girl that was friends with Connor, and not his actual girlfriend to be at lunch with them. If a girl was going to go, it would have been Camila, but Shawn had thankfully requested for that not to happen.
In the end, you had found a way to keep yourself busy with a little shopping as you picked out the perfect little red dress to wear tonight, gotten a manicure and pedicure, and had even arranged to have your hair and make-up done by a professional. Even if you weren’t going to be the one totally at Shawn’s side tonight, you wanted to look good for him.
While you had unfortunately hoped to ride to his party with him tonight, that hadn’t happened. Shawn was to walk in after most of the guests were to arrive, and much to your chagrin, he was going to walk in with Camila, and his family.
You couldn’t lie. That sucked, and it hurt, but like usual you had Connor by your side to make it feel alright, or at least as good as you could possibly feel about any of this. In the end, you didn’t want to make his big day about you, so despite how shitty you felt, you slapped a fake smile on your face, even if Connor could easily see right past it. Actually, you found yourself deeply hoping that Shawn could as well, but you knew it was a selfish thought.
After walking in you and Connor made your rounds, talked to a few people, and had gotten a glass of champagne to celebrate Shawn’s imminent arrival. Once it was announced that he was coming in soon, you made sure that you and Connor were right near the front.
 As Shawn made his grand entrance you, like everyone else began to shout at the top of your lungs, and you couldn’t help the butterflies as his eyes immediately found yours. Maybe you didn’t get to walk in by his side, but he was doing his best to show that you weren’t forgotten. It also helped that he was clearly taking in you, your dress, and little makeover, and he was obviously impressed. You had seen that look in his eyes before, and you could tell it was taking everything in his power to not walk over there and kiss you in front of everybody.
So maybe it hadn’t been your favorite to see his hand in Camila’s, but it was you he had looked at like that, and not her, and that was what was getting you through. You watched as he made his rounds a bit, hugging quite a few people and thanking them for coming, before he finally made his way over to you.
“Hey,” he smiled, his eyes once again taking you in, while also trying not to give too much away about how he truly felt about you, especially since tonight, to all these people Camila was Shawn’s girlfriend. Not you.
“Hey,” you shyly smiled back, loving the way his eyes had just looked over you all over again.
“You look so beautiful babygirl,” he whispered into your ear as he had moved in to give you a hug. “I’m pretty sure you are the birthday present I’m most looking forward to unwrap,” he softly joked before slowly pulling away, his touch lingering for as long as he could possibly make it.
“Oh my God Shawn, have you already been drinking?” you tease as he innocently shrugs his shoulders, making you giggle.
“Come on, it’s my twenty first, I may have had a drink or two on the way over,” he admits as you let out another soft giggle and a shake of the head.
“Well you deserve it. I hope you are having a good birthday so far,” you admit, even if your heart sort of hurts that this is going to have to be your only interaction for awhile. You would give anything to spend the entire night by his side, and holding his hands as he goes around and talks to everyone and introduces you to his old friends, but you get why that can’t be.
“It’s been good.. But I wish it could be a little different,” he admits back, almost as if you two are sharing a very similar thought.
“Well we will hang out later tonight, right?” you try offer in an effort to see that signature Shawn smile that you love so much, and one he deserves to be wearing on his birthday.
“Of course, Like I said, I still need to unwrap my present,” he teases as he sends what is likely an inappropriate wink in your direction, but neither of you seem to care as you share in this moment and laugh together.
“I need to go and talk to some people and say hi, but you’ll be close by right?” he asks, a familiar look of concern and pleading showing up on his face.
“Of course,” you smile in assurance as you reach out and give his hand a small squeeze before he unfortunately has to pull away, looking back at you, giving you one last smile before heading into the crowd.
As much as you loved your interaction with Shawn just then, an emptiness and sadness begin to consume you, but luckily before you can let yourself dwell on it, Connor is at your side.
“What do you say we take a shot?” he asks, and while you aren’t much of a drinker, you are pretty sure you are going to need to something in order to get through this night. Plus, with it being Shawn’s twenty-first you know he plans on drinking quite a bit, so why not join in?
That isn’t the only shot you take that night, nor is it the only drink you consume other than the tiny bit of champagne you had to mark his arrival. You definitely have a buzz going on, and maybe a little more, but it feels good. Even more, it feels good not to be dwelling on the fact that your boyfriend is off socializing without you, with Camila by his side, likely portraying the role of the doting girlfriend that should be you.
 Actually though, you are having plenty of fun where you are at with Connor as the two of you make your presence known on the dance floor. You would never claim to be a professional, or to even know what you are doing, but you also feel like you have rhythm and do alright, unlike Connor. In fact, his moves crack you up, which only makes this even more fun.
Being you, you have also already pulled out your phone to take the selfie that Connor so loudly proclaims he hates, but you know he secretly loves. Plus, he always looks amazing in them. While he may normally prefer to be the one behind the camera, you think that is just a travesty. His face was made to be in front of the camera.
You know you promised Shawn to be close by, and while you really had tried to make that happen, it had not only gotten a bit boring to be the weird girl secretly lurking in the back, it had gotten to feel kind of weird. So instead, you had chosen to take advantage of the fact that you were at your boyfriend’s huge birthday bash, even if it was Connor by your side instead.
When it was time for the cake to be presented everyone did their best to gather in close as a loud round of happy birthday was sung. You did your best to get in as close as you could with Connor by your side, but given how many people had come tonight to celebrate the birthday boy you definitely weren’t as close as you would have hoped. The one thing that had made you at least feel somewhat better about this moment was that he had searched you out in the crowd and sent a little wink, but soon his attention was directed elsewhere.
You couldn’t blame him. He was the man of the hour after all, but that didn’t stop the sting of not being the one by his side from consuming you. It certainly wasn’t helping that you were also a tad bit tipsy, and Camila was right there where you should have been. After the candles had been blown out and a silly drunken speech had been given by your incredibly cute and adorable boyfriend your mood suddenly switched as Camila went in to give Shawn a big birthday kiss as the crowd cheered.
You however, were not cheering, and you certainly weren’t happy. In fact, that seemed to be the straw that broke the camel’s back as you pushed your way out of the small crowd. Despite the fact that you were already outside in the New York air, you couldn’t help but feel like you couldn’t breathe and like you needed more of it.
Out of nowhere Connor reached for your hand, and thankfully led you away, and down a small alley where it looked like the two of you could have some much needed privacy. You of course wanted to blame it on the alcohol, but there likely was much more involved in all of this as hot tears began to fall down your cheeks.
“Come here,” he softly directed you as he pulled you into his arms as you buried your head in his chest, as one of his hands rested on the back of your head, as the tears continued to fall. You weren’t sure how long the two of you had stood like that, but finally you felt strong enough to pull back to look at him.
“I’m sorry I..” you began as you did your best to wipe at your eyes, before he quickly shook his head.
“You have nothing to apologize for. I get it. This is hard Y/N,” he assures you, as he affectionately moves in to wipe a tear off your cheek.
“It is, and you would think I’d be used to it by now,” you sighed, hating that this was still something you couldn’t seem to get over.
“And you shouldn’t have to. You shouldn’t even have to be dealing with this in the first place. It’s fucked up. You are one of the most amazing women I have ever met, and I don’t get why Shawn is doing this,” he cursed, actually surprising you by how passionate he is about all of this.
“Well, I mean, he doesn’t really have a choice,” you try to offer in defense of Shawn.
“Of course he has a choice. He could have said no, but he didn’t, and he’s still letting this shit show carry on despite how obvious it is that it’s hurting you. It’s bullshit,” he further ranted, his words actually sinking in as you first wonder how much of a choice Shawn does have, and even more, you wonder how obvious it really is what all of this is doing to you. Is everyone else feeling the same way about all of this?
You hate the idea of looking weak or pathetic, and you don’t like the idea of everyone knowing that this isn’t easy on you. Okay, so maybe it isn’t something that should be easy, but you did want to be there and you did want to be supportive.
“I get it Y/N, you’re trying to be a good girlfriend for him,” he further offers, feeling somewhat annoyed that this isn’t the first time today that your thoughts seem to be totally transparent. “But he doesn’t fucking deserve it. He doesn’t deserve you,” he loudly declares as his hands from around you drop as he throws them passionately up into the air in frustration.
“Connor,” you begin, but honestly, what are you supposed to say to that, especially after having had him witness your first real break down since coming out here.
“I mean it, you are amazing, and you don’t deserve this,” he keeps going, obviously sensing that you aren’t sure what to say. “You deserve a boyfriend that chooses you. That chooses you over some music sales, and makes you feel like you are always his number one priority. If you were my girlfriend Y/N, I would never do that to you,” he confidently declares as he moves to cut off the distance between the two of you  once more as he places a soft hand on the side of your neck as his thumb softly brushes up against the skin of your cheek. “I would make sure to show you each and every day that you are my only priority, and that nothing is more important than you.”
“Connor..” you softly trail as your eyes move up to meet his, feeling completely conflicted in this moment. Those words, they mean the world to you, and for the first time since Shawn has said something about Connor having feelings for you, you realize that maybe he was right all along, and you aren’t sure what to think about that.
On one hand, you know he is right. Shawn isn’t treating you like his number one priority, but you love him despite all of that, and despite what he can offer you at the moment. On the other hand, not only is Connor saying all the right words, you are starting to wonder if maybe somewhere along the line you had fallen for him too. It’s all so confusing, but before you even have time to think about what you want, you are soon interrupted.
“What the fuck Connor? Get away from my girlfriend,” Shawn loudly shouts, as you quickly jump away from Connor and his touch as your eyes quickly move between the two men, neither looking even remotely happy with the other. In fact, you can see fire and anger there, and know, this in no way is going to end well.

Dinner Nights
Tumblr media
Hello pretty people, I know I am late, but I will slowly write all of them, okay? Just a lot going on lately. Enjoy :)
Requested by anon: “My parents asked about you.”
Word count: 832
#Blurb Week 2
- - - - - - - -
"Hi," Connor said awkwardly, standing at Y/n's door. She hasn't talked with him for 10 days, and he was beyond worried, even more, because she missed dinner night in his parents' house, and she never did that without an explanation. Y/n started to go to dinner with them every Friday when Connor went out on tour, and she hasn't missed a since one unless she went visit him. Connor was always teasing her about how she now knows his parents more than himself.
"Hi…" She answered taking a deep breath but just standing there in front of him
"Can… Can I come in?" He stumbled and biting his lower lip nervously. He was afraid that was it, and she was slowly breaking up with him. He tried to come back as soon as his mother called asking about you saying that you didn't come on Friday. She called just on Monday though, afraid you were going to surprise him in Asia, and she didn't want to give you in. Little did she know you never left your apartment.
"Yeah, su-sure," You said, letting him in. "Connor, what are you…" You started, still surprised that just yesterday, you saw a picture of him taking videos in one of his Instagram fan clubs.
"My parents asked about you," He said, and you frowned, not understanding immediately. "You never went to dinner night on Friday, and you forgot to tell them?" He explained, both of you still standing in front of each other, the only difference now was the door closed.
You had entirely forgotten about dinner night after what happened earlier that week on Wednesday. You could still picture the doctor telling you.
"You can stay calm, you are not sick. You are one month pregnant. I will prescribe you some vitamins that are good for the development of the baby, and here are some numbers of some excellent prenatal doctors that you can contact if you still don't have anyone in mind."
"Thank you." You said simply and left the hospital. It took you some time to understand what was going on. You got to your car and drove back home with no music, and still trying to understand what on earth had just happened. It wasn't until you got home that you really broke down. This was not in your plans for the next 4-5 years period, you were not married, Connor was traveling around, you were both still in university. It was a nightmare.
He called you later that day and texted. And he did that for the 9 days that came after that, but you didn't really look at it after Thursday, because you decided it would be better to just turn your phone off and avoid him. You were not ready to tell him, and you were also afraid of his reaction to it.
"Y/n?" He asked again after you just stared blankly at him for a good 2 minutes.
"Sorry, I forgot to-to call them," You said, avoiding his gaze on you and looking down.
"Are you breaking up with me?" He asked, and you noticed how his breath picked up. You couldn't manage to answer though, the words were stuck in your throat, and your mouth was suddenly very dry. What should you say, after all: "I am not, but you are because I am pregnant." You couldn't just say that.
"Jesus, you are. Fuck, Baby, I am sorry. I know distance relationship sucks, and I know that we just spend an entire month without seeing each other, but please…" He sniffed and took a shaking breath. "Please, let's work this out. I can't lose you. Shit… I-I just can't," He said, letting the tears come this time, but taking another deep breath because he had to finish, he had to let you know how much you meant for him and that he couldn't just ignore his heart. "I-I am so, so, sorry. But I love you so much. I can't do it without you, you are my sense of home, your eyes are my favorite lens to see the world with, and I…" He took another pause to control his voice, he also made a step closer and lifted your chin up. You didn't want him saying any of those things, but you simply could' t talk, and now you also had tears in your eyes.
"I love you, I need you… Please?" When you just looked at him and didn't say anything, he simply backed off, sited on your sofa, and started sobbing in his hands, muttering curses about how did he let this happen.
"Connor" You managed to say, not wanting to take it anymore of him crying, he sniffed but looked at you with hope in his eyes. "I-I…" You took a deep breath. "I am not breaking up with you." You said, and relief immediately spread in his face. "I -I am pregnant."

Dad’s Approval | Connor Brashier
Summary: Your dad hates Connor so much that even he starts questioning himself and it’s your job to remind him why he can’t be more wrong.
Word Account: 2K
A/N: This is my first imagine ever, so sorry if it’s to cringey and disappointing. Also, English it’s not my first language, excuse my poor vocabulary and grammar and please tell me major mistakes to correct them.
                                                          *  *  *  *
Y/D/N Y/L/N, your father, is Connor’s second worst nightmare, the first one being losing you. Mister Y/L/N is the boss of the biggest lawyer’s firm on LA, he is feared and respected everywhere because he has enough power to bring everyone he wants down, and that includes Connor, luckily this hasn’t happened to him, yet.
Your dad adores you. You are his pride and joy he just wants the best for you and he thinks that Connor, a simple boy with a camera, will never be enough, so he takes every chance he gets to remind you both, that. You don’t care about you dad’s nagging words but Connor does because he can’t help but agreeing with him. You deserve better than him and he is a selfish jerk for keeping you all to himself, but he can’t bear the idea of letting you go.
Last Monday your dad called to invite you two for dinner at his favorite restaurant ‘Saint Japher’, a place designed for the upper class with menus that just a few of privileged people can afford, and in that group of people Connor isn’t included. Your father does every other time for two main reasons: to see if you are still together and to drag Connor’s confidence down (task that he has always accomplished successfully). Connor has always tried to win your dad’s favor but to Y/D/N’s eyes, Connor was just a kid who plays with a camera and think that’s a job.
When Connor wakes up, the first thing he sees is your beautiful figure cuddled against his right side. Your body is covered by just his shirt and nothing more, and it makes him feel all cozy inside because it means that all of you is his. You are completely knocked out, it’s a normal occurrence whenever you see your father, he never fails on getting on your nerves and tiring you to death, especially when he starts throwing knives at Connor like there’s no tomorrow. Connor gives you a light kiss on your forehead and decides to go out for a run, he needs it to clear his mind a little. When he steps out of bed you start moving on your sleep but you don’t get up. He tries not to make too much noise while he’s getting dressed and when he is finally out of the house, he lets a long exhale escape from his lips. Con knows that he shouldn’t give a fuck about what your dad thinks about him but he does because he agrees with your father, you deserve better.
By the time Connor starts running following the peace of some catchy pop song, every snarky word your dad said yesterday comes to his mind, crashing him with the force of wave colliding against the rocks.
“Do you remember Thomas Lebrant, darling?” asked you father while he was looking at the menu.
“Yes dad, I remember Tom.” of course you did remember Tom, you dated him for a year... before you left him for Connor.
“I saw him him the other day, he’s doing great at medical school, he will have a bright future, he’s a very hard-working man, he asked me about you. I really think he was your perfect match.”
Connor remembered Thomas too, your first boyfriend, he was the guy every father wanted for his daughter: perfect grades, perfect looks, perfect behavior... he was just perfect. You started dating him when you were seventeen and spent a whole year with him, but when you met Connor you started to feel things you had never felt before and you had to break up.
Con will never forget the day he saw you for the first time. It was a sunny day in LA, he was at the beach with Sam doing a photoshoot with an Instagram model called Lydia Hanni, she was laying on the hot sand and he was supposed to be taking photos of her body, but he couldn’t focus his camera on her, he was too busy filming the beautiful girl playing frisbee with her friends. When you noticed a pair of eyes on you, you turned around and saw Connor with his camera. He waved his hand to say ‘hi’ and you smiled, at that moment Connor swears he felt his whole world stop. That was the beginning of your love story and your dad’s worst headache ever.
“Good for him, dad. I guess you told him that I’m doing pretty good with Uni and my lovely boyfriend.” you reached for Connor’s hand and you pressed a little kiss on it. Your father let out a sigh and Connor smiled at you. You had the power to make everything better.
“I told him you had a little adventure with some guy.”
‘A two years adventure’ thought Connor.
At first he thought that her dad needed time to warm up to him, but time passed and he didn’t change his mindset. He hoped that when he started working for Shawn your dad would be happy, but that didn’t occur, in fact, he got pissed because he was going with his friends to have fun in Europe leaving you alone. Nothing he does it’s good for your dad and that’s eating him alive. He tries to ignore it but it gets harder every single day.
“Have you found a real job yet?”
“My friend is looking for a coffee guy for his office, I could call him if you are interested?”
“How much has your boss payed you for your hobby? I mean, it’s not a very hard task.”
“Did you have fun on tour? Doing nothing playing with your friends?”
He loves his job and he’s proud of it but he is starting to believe that it’s not enough for you. Your father is right, you are worth of a rich, wealthy man that can give you all you want in matter of minutes. You always say that he’s the best that has ever happened to you, but now he thinks you say that because he’s keeping you away from greater things that you’ll never discover if you’re with him.
When he arrives home after an hour of running, he goes straight to the shower, maybe that’s what he needs to clear his mind for good. Once the hot water hits his muscles, he lets a satisfied moan, a hot shower never fails to relax him.
You wake up the moment you hear the water running from the bathroom, you guess that’s Connor having a morning shower but once you notice his sport clothes scattered across the bedroom floor, you know he’s probably gone out to clear his mind a little. You can’t blame him though, the shitshow your dad pulled yesterday at the restaurant was capable to put everyone on the edge of their sanity. You have talked nearly a billion times with your dad about his behavior with your boyfriend but he always ignores it. You’re sick of it because Connor doesn’t deserve an ounce of the shit your father aims at him, no one really deserves it to be honest. Your boyfriend is the best that has ever happened to you and you’re so proud and in love with him that whenever your dad opens his big mouth, your heart breaks a little.
You decide to get out of bed and get into the shower with him to show him some love. You get rid of your shirt when you enter the bathroom. Connor hasn’t realized yet that you’re there and very much awake so you got him by surprise when you stepped into the shower.
Everything in you is alluring and lovely to Connor’s eyes and your body is no exception. He loved and praised every inch of it, it’s his temple, the place where all his problems disappear. He was completely addicted to it, therefore when you decide to enter the shower, his first instinct is to pull your naked body closer to his.
“Hi, love.” this pet-name always sends shivers down your spine and makes you smile like an idiot “How are you?” you were both under the hot stream of water, nose and foreheads touching and eyes closed.
“That’s what I should be asking, handsome.” you whisper as you kiss him delicately, like you’re afraid of breaking him.
“I’ve been better.” he confesses with a forced smile. He doesn’t want you to worry about him but you know too well that grimace on his face and the dull look on his beautiful eyes.
“I’m so sorry about my dad, I can’t believe what an asshole he can be.” you’re really ashamed by your father, he never respects your decisions or opinions, each time he tries to impose his no matter what.
“You don’t have to excuse him, I mean, he’s not wrong.” he looks away because he knows that if he sees your breathtaking eyes, he’ll break down in matter of seconds.
“What do you mean he’s not wrong, Con?” you hold his face between your hands and you make him look at you.
“He’s right about me.” he says heartbroken.
“No, he’s not, baby.” you try to reason with him but he doesn’t take it and watching him so sad is destroying you.
“C’mon Y/N, he’s right. You are this beautiful, kind, smart and amazing woman and I’m a kid with a camera. All your life you’ve been surrounded by the most incredible things on Earth, your dad could give you all you wanted. I’ll never be able to do that, I can’t take you to Bali every month, I can’t pay your studies... You know who could? Thomas, he was perfect for you and I took you away, if you were with him, I bet you’d be happier becau...” you smack his chest before he can finish his ridiculous speech, now you’re pissed and frustrated, he can’t be saying all of that, can he?
“I swear to god, Connor David Brashier, that if you say something like all the bullshit you have just said, I’ll kick you out of the house until your two remaining brain cells realize how utterly stupid you are.”
“Bab...” he tries to interrupt you but you shut him off before he can argue back.
“Don’t ‘Babe’ me, idiot. Connor, I love you, more than anything, you’re my world. Listen, maybe my dad has always given me whatever the hell I wanted, do you know the price? He was never there for me, I was left alone 24/7, on my birthdays, recitals, competitions, even in my own graduation, he showered me with gifts but not love. And Tom, he was a nice guy, he treated me right and all of that, always so perfect, it was boring as fuck: we never stayed three days in a row at home doing nothing besides fucking and eating, he never surprised me with 3 AM dates at the beach or with little getaways at Target... Tom was just there but he didn’t make me feel anything, not the way you do. I want you. You’re the best part of my life and I can’t imagine a future without you. I don’t care about monthly travels to Bali, I care about months just by your side. I love you Connor, you’re perfect.”
Once you finish your monologue, you notice he’s crying. You clean his tears with your soft fingers and he kisses you passionately against the shower wall.
“I love you, Y/N” he embraces you strongly, afraid that if he loosens his grip, you’ll disappear.
“I love you Connor, let me show you.” you kneel down and that’s the only thing Connor needs to know that he’s in for a very long morning and he’s so ready for it.
                                                       * * * *
I hope you all have enjoyed it. Please like, comment or repost if you liked it. Right now, I’m working on a long Shawn Mendes fic, tell me if you’d like to read it.

Hi beautiful sending you love mwah 😘😘 just wanted to know if you can write something were you hear Shawn talk badly about you so you distance yourself. Please.
Thank you so much for requesting!! 😘😘
Pairing : Shawn x y/n
Warnings : language and angst
Word count : 2.8 k
The first thing you heard when you opened the door to Shawn's condo was basically loud laughter of people including your boyfriend's. You just came back from work, a bit earlier than usual because shawn had been complaining about how he doesn't get to spend time with you because work has been crazy for you and you had a lot of files to finish and you were hella tired of your boss being a complete asshole, who never lets anyone stay home and he was no different to you. Anyways you were not at all aware of the fact that he had guests over.
The sound was coming from the living area of Shawn's penthouse apartment and apart from Shawn's, you recognised the laughter as Brian's, and Connor's. A small smile creeped on your face. You absolutely adored Shawn's friends so you walked towards the living to say 'hi' to them.
You were close enough to hear what they were talking about when your legs came to halt at the mention of you name.
"So how's life with y/n? Tour's over....You're free and now that y/n is staying with you, you must have a lot of cheesy things to say" Connor said whilst laughing.
"Oh yeah I actually do but not right now because why the hell would you mention my so called clingy girlfriend?" Shawn said and Brian laughed so loudly at that but your heart stopped.
"What??! What are you saying?!?" Connor said because shawn has been the most "I'm obsessed with my girlfriend and she is my goddess!!" Type of guy he had ever met.
"I said y/n is extremely clingy and annoying and I don't have anything good to say about her right now so please stop talking about that hoe!!" Shawn said and started laughing like crazy with Brian. Both of their laughs clouding your mind. You just stood there not able to comprehend anything.
You turned around silently, grabbed your keys and left the apartment in the same clothes you came in.
You got in your car and started driving slowly. You were now driving to nowhere for about 30 mins.
The moment you processed the words shawn said you slammed the break and your head came down on the stearing wheel with a plasticy bang.. must have been painfull.. ow poor y/n.
Did he really say that?!? Does he think I'm an annoying clingy hoe?!? Hell! "HE" was the one who wanted me to stay home and spend time with 'HIM'!! And I'm clingy?!? Is this the guy you've been in love with for what? Like 3 years?!! How could he call you a hoe!?! Why would any boyfriend disrespect his girlfriend like that??!? This is the worst day ever!!
All these thoughts were knocked out from your mind by a loud honking sound. You were basically in the middle of a road and by now, there were tons of cars parked behind you. Wow! You just created a big traffic block in the middle of Toronto city. Go you!! *Claps of sarcasm*
You quickly turned around and took another route to make your way back to Shawn's apartment like nothing happened. Haha asshole! but sometimes you gotta act like you weren't the cause of a huge ass traffic block..
You didn't know exactly why you were going back. To lay it onto him?? To get your things?? I don't know but you got home with slouched shoulders and an emotion less face.
You were about to reach and open the door when Shawn opened the door and a bright smile appeared on his face on seeing you which almost made you forget about the things he just said. Eh but not really.
"Baby!!!! I missed you so much today!!" He said and went in for a hug and you hugged him back it was as if someone was clawing at your heart.
"I'm just gonna walk these guys out and I'll be back in a second okay? You get freshened by then" He said sweetly but right now his words seemed anything but sweet!
How dare he say that to them and then act like nothing happened?? That too infront of them?!?! Which speaking of-!
"Hey y/n!!!" Connor and Brian said at the same time and both hugged you and you silently hugged them back, with a fake smile that could basically convince anyone but not Shawn.
"You guys go ahead I'll come in a sec" he said and turned to you.
"Okay then Bye y/n" they both bid their goodbyes and made their way to the lift.
"Hey what happened baby? Any problem with your boss??" Shawn asked tilting your chin up to look you in the eyes.There was evident hurt in them.
You were debating to weather tell him or push him away but you didn't choose any of that.
"Yeah..had a bad day at work"
"Aww baby you go inside and sit down okay! I'll be back after properly saying goodbye to the guys and you can tell me all about your day. Alright?" He asked sweetly but it sounded like straight up sarcasm to you but you chose not to call him out right now.
He gave you a short peck and there he goes ....'probably gonna talk more shit about me' you thought to your self which and it made you feel like your heart was stabbing itself.
You went inside and sat yourself on the couch. The same couch where the love of your life talked shit about you being a clingy hoe. (Sorry I'm just over dramatic 😅)
About 5 mins later shawn came in and sat by your side.
"What happened baby?? What did your crazy boss do this time?" He asked while taking your hand in his and slowly stroking the back of your hand with his other hand but you didnt move.
"Nothing..just the usual..I have...work...just...I-!...I'm going to take a shower" you said. A slight frown appeared on Shawn's face. But he understood....some days you were like this when work really stressed you out.
'Maybe she doesn't wanna talk about it' he thought.
"Okay baby" he said and you stood up from the couch and before you walked 4 steps shawn caught your hand and pulled you into him.
He craddled your face in his warm huge palms that always made you melt like it wasn't even a big deal at all and kissed your lips sweetly.
You kissed him back but pulled away quicker that shawn would have liked which caused a small pout on his perfectly soft pink lips and all you wanted to do was kiss it away so that's what you did but quickly reminding yourself that he thinks your a clingy hoe and pulling away again.
"Let me kiss my girl properly first" he said smiling at you and you'd be lying if you said it doesn't do things to you even if your upset with him. How could he do this?!? One time he's saying he hates you and now he's all over you as if he really is?!?
"I'm tired shawn I wanna take a shower" you said while planting the same fake smile on your face. He frowned at you and them pulled you into a hug and you only dropped your hands low...not embracing the hug.
"Want me to join?' he asked playfully smirking at you and it literally made you feel all sorts of way but you knew it was all an act and he just.. thought you were a hoe.
"No I'm really tired shawn" you said now turning around and walking to the bathroom with tears forming real quick in your eyes.
"Okay... baby I'll start preparing dinner then" he said and you didn't fail to pick up the hurt in his voice. But why??? He doesn't care at all!! What a great ass actor?!? Your seriously doubting if you dreamed all that. But nah...its real..he hurt you.
You took a long ass shower washing yourself and feeling all your emotions get warmed up by the warm water and you just...started crying. You cried silenty under the shower where one couldn't distinguish tears from water. Maybe you were clingy. But that's only because you love him but why would he call you a HOE!?! Why?? Why would he disrespect you like that?? After 3 years of relationship, was your love for him making you look like a hoe??
After you got out of the shower, usually you would've just put on one of Shawn's hoodies and then go chill on the couch but today you just.. couldn't bring yourself to wear his clothes. So you put on one of your band t-shirts and some shorts and walked to the kitchen where Shawn had already prepared and put out dinner on the table and was waiting for your company.
He came to you with a toothless smile on his face which quickly dropped by half when he noticed you weren't wearing one of his clothes..but he didn't let it bother him that much or let's say... tried to act like it didn't bother him as much as it did. You still noticed it though..and it gave you a weird feeling.
He hugged you which again you didn't return.
"You smell so good!" He said pulling away from the hug and you gave him your half assed fake smile AGAIN.
Shawn was fully aware that something was wrong but he thought you'd tell him while having dinner.
He led you to the table and pulled the chair out for you like he always did and you both sat down to have dinner.
Awkwardness was all around the table.
You did not talk at all and even though shawn tried his best and asked you stuff to get you to talk about what's wrong or let's say..make it less awkward, all your replies were just..yes, no and silence.
After dinner you washed your plate and mumbled a goodnight that didn't feel like it was to ANYONE and went to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It went like this for a few days.. you being extra awkward to Shawn and purposely avoiding him and distancing yourself from him and being really down. He was really sad and hurt and frustrated because he would ask you whats the matter and you would either tell him "nothing" or just shrug your shoulders. You didn't even look him in the eyes anymore. Shawn was really really confused and even more worried.
Well how could you talk to him?!? After all he called you clingy and annoying which means he doesn't want you around and also he called you a hoe.
One day Shawn came back from the studio and saw you reading a book on the couch. A small smile creeped on his face knowing that you were reading some sort of romance novel.
"What are you doing?" He asked while coming and sitting next to you.
You were pretty lost in the book so you did not see him coming in.
"Oh just a stupid book haha... I have to get back to work now.." you said and got up to leave only to walk two steps and stop at the mention of your name.
"Y/n" you turned around to see Shawn now standing up from the couch with a very hurt look on his face.
"I don't know why but I noticed that you've been purposefully avoiding me for a few days..why are you doing that?? What did I do??please talk to me.." He asked now looking straight into your eyes and you could see right in his eyes that he was hurt.
"What? I don't know what your talking abou..-!" You were cut of by Shawn showing his palm infront of your face.
"Y/n stop...you know what you've been doing.....Is it me?? Did I do anything wrong?? Please talk to me.....you can always talk to me you know" he said now reaching for your hand but the moment his hand touched you you shook it away and backed off like he attacked you or something.
Shawn looked at you as if his heart just broke.
"No shawn..you should've thought about that before calling me a clingy, annoying hoe" you said for once and stormed in your bedroom slamming the door shut.
Shawn followed right behind you and got the door shut right on his face.
"What are you talking about-!? I- I-..! Dont understand! I never called you any of that!" Shawn said now leaning on the door.
"Stop fucking lying shawn I heard you talking with connor and Brian that day and you called me all those things!!" You barked from the other side of the door.
"Shit! Baby I can explain! Please open the door for me! I swear I didn't mean for you to hear it!" He said now banging on the door.
"Of course you didn't! And Explain what?!? That I'm being delusional and maybe even say some half assed lies?? How did I ever believe that you love me?!? Maybe I am clingy...But you called me a hoe!!"
"No baby please listen! I know it would've sounded so very wrong but just wasn't being serious! We were just joking around and I said that" he tried to explain and it did not even harm a hair of your anger.
"Haha what are you saying shawn?! That would never convince anyone! Try harder with your lies and leave me the fuck alone!" You said.
"Baby please believe me.. you are the most gorgeous and amazing women I've ever met and I could never ever say such things about you! I love you! Please believe me!" He said with tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
"I wish I could believe you shawn..but I actually heard this with my own ears.." you said.. now wiping your own tears.
"Please open the door for me I will explain it all please just...hear me out!" He said now bringing his hands to his face to catch the spilling tears.
You opened the door to him kneeling on the floor. You sat next to him resting your back on the wall.
After a few seconds he came and sat next to you..... Both of you staring at whatever that was ahead of you.
"Explain" you said.
Shawn wiped his tears and started talking.
"So...that day..you went to work and connor and brian came over and we were chatting on the couch and you know how connor loves you and me together like he ships us so hard haha so me and Brian were just pranking him and joking around so I just said I don't like you to prank connor....it sounds so fake...I know but that's the truth..I should've never said that..even if it was a joke I'm so sorry baby. You can even call Brian or Connor right now and ask them if you don't believe me " he said
By now you felt almost dizzy..you're so dumb!! 😬..you were making such a huge ass deal about this. OMG you're so stupid!! Wtf?? How could you be so stupid?? Like..all of this would've never happen if you just opened your mouth and talked to your boyfriend!!!!
"I..-! I'm sorry" you said, looking at Shawn who was already looking at you.
"I'm so so sorry baby I thought you didn't love me anymore I mean..I know I'm not that good looking and you could basically have any girl you wanted and I just-! I'm so sorry!! Ya know I always am terrified that one day I'll wake up and you don't love me anymore and I just-.... I should've just talked to you about this. Shit! I'm so stupid this is all my fault!!" You were full on crying right now and shawn just pulled you to his chest while you cried.
"Hey Don't say that!! You're the most beautiful girl I've ever laid eyes on and I can't even imagine living a life where you hate me and it's okay bubba I mean..if I was you this is exactly how I would've acted but from now on ..please talk to me if I did something that upsets you....I hate it when we cry" shawn said cracking a small smile.
"I'm sorry again" you said pouting your lips only for shawn to grab your face and kiss your frown away replacing it with a genuine smile, Something that has been lacking from your face for the past few days.
"It's alright now do you wanna make dinner or get Mc Donalds??"
You smiled at your sweet boy. He already knew the answer.
"Mc Donalds it is!"
MEMORIES
DESCRIPTION:: You are a Brian’s sister and a single mom. You, Shawn, and Brian grew up together in Canada. You and Shawn used to be best friends, until he got famous and left. After reconnecting, you both come to realize you want more than just a friendship.
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Pairing: Shawn Mendes x y/n
Warnings: Language, Possible Smut, & Drinking.
A/N:: hello friends!!! this story is going to have multiple chapters so i will try my best to connect them all! i hope you like it :)
"MOMMAAA!" You hear a tiny voice squeal from the other room. Running towards the little monster in your jeans and bra, you see Peter, your 3 year old son, standing in the middle of the living room on the verge of a meltdown.
"What's wrong, cheri?" You bend down to his level and try to console him before he has a full blown breakdown.
"Mickey went bye bye!!" he exclaims, eyes brimming with tears. You look towards the television and see that the his Mickey Mouse movie was over.
"Alright mon amour, let's see where Mickey went," You say as you pick him up and he clings to your neck until you set him down on the couch to look for the remote. You search under the coffee table, under the couch cushions, and even in the kitchen with no luck. "Merde! Where is it?"
In the middle of my frustration, you hear a knock on the front door. Oh thank god - you know exactly who that is. You run to the door and yank it open, probably looking crazy as you stand in the doorway half naked.
"Hey Bri!" You smile at your big brother before you realize he isn't alone, "And you friend??"
"Hey y/n! This is my roommate, Connor. Sorry I didn't warn you, he needed a ride and you don't normally answer the door  shirtless," Brian laughs as he scans you up and down.
"Oh umm, it's nice to meet you, Connor. Come on in," You turn around heading back to finish my mission of finding the remote, "Sorry, we are running a few minutes late. I was in the middle of getting ready when Peter needed me. Now I'm trying to find the remote so I can Mickey back on the tv for him so he doesn't have a meltdown--"
"Uncle B!!" Peter exclaims as he runs into Brian's open arms. Brian engulfs him into a big bear hug before he looks my way, "Go finish getting ready, y/n. I'll take care of this little monster."
Before you know it Brian has become the tickle monster chasing Peter around and Connor is making himself comfortable on the couch. You smile to yourself and head back into the bathroom to finish the glam process.
You don't want to be super dressed up but you also don't want to look like a total mom. You are going to Brian's friend, Shawn's, house for his annual New Years Eve party. You say 'Brian's friend' like you don't know him, but in reality, you know him better than you want to admit. You haven't seen him in years - correction - you’ve seen a lot of him over the years since he is world famous and all, but you haven't seen him in the flesh since you left home a few years ago. You don't want to be showy at the party, but you also want to show that you’re not just the girl that got pregnant at eighteen.
You throw on your silky cheetah tank and black cardigan to match your black ripped jeans. Before heading back to the chaos, you grab Peter's diaper bag and throw your wallet inside. "Are you guys ready?" You say as you go back into the living room.
"Faster, B, faster!!" Peter yells while Bri gives him a piggyback ride around the apartment. You can't help smiling as you see how happy they are together.
Brian spots you and puts Peter down. He makes his way towards you and gives you one of his signature bear hugs, "Well, it's nice to see you fully clothed. You ready to head out?"
"Tête de bite!" You playfully push him away. He puts his hand to his heart with a pained look as if you actually hurt him. Connor looks between you and Brian confused while neither of you offer an explanation as you gather yourselves.
"Time to go mon cheri." You grab Peter's hand and head towards the front door.
<< >>
"No!! Let me go!!" says a girl as she attempts to run away from the monster. You feel Shawn laughing behind you as you guys watch the cheesy horror movie play. You two are laying on the couch, Shawn behind you with his head tucked in the crook of your neck and his arms wrapped around you.
"Does she thinks she is actually going to be able to outrun him in those heels!?" Shawn says loudly and you can't contain your laughter.
"She looks like a penguin when she runs like that," You joke back.
"She looks just like you when you tried to ice skate yesterday!" Shawn teases while he moves his arm to tickle your side - that jerk always uses your ticklishness against you. You try to get away from him which ends up with you falling on the floor and Shawn laughing even harder.
Taking the opportunity to mess with him back, you wrap your arms around your knees and tuck your head down so he can't see your face. You sit there quietly pretending to be upset, until he quiets down and you feel him slide down onto the floor next to you.
"Aww, you know I didn't mean it. I'm sorry," he puts his arms around you and brings you into his chest. You can tell by the worried tone of his voice that he is believing it. "y/n, please, I was just messing with you. Don't be upset, bear."
Once his special nickname comes out, you can't contain yourself any longer. You lift up your head with a big smile on your face. His eyebrows scrunch together in confusion as he realizes you’re not actually upset. "Wait, you aren't mad at me?"
"Of course not, I was just messing with you." You tell him with a cheeky smile.
"Oh thank god, cause I thought was gonna have to go buy some chocolates to make up for it." He says with a sigh and you just laugh to yourself. "Well in that case, let's finish this movie."
He stands up before extending his hand out to you to help you off the floor.
Someone looking from the outside would say you two looked like you were together, but that's the farthest from the truth. Does that mean you weren’t allowed to secretly have feelings for him?? No. Does that mean you had to hide said feelings so you didn't ruin the friendship? Hell yes.
You and Shawn were best friends. You knew each other since you were babies, you literally have pictures of you two in the bath together - thanks mom. You spent every afternoon and every weekend at each others houses. You were in the same grade so you went to school together all through elementary, middle school, and almost all of high school. You would've graduated together too, that was until he left to become a world famous singer.
You felt betrayed when he left your small hometown. You two had promised that you would always have each other’s backs and grow old together. Not in the way some might think, you wanted your families to live next door to the other and your kids to grow up to be best friends, just like you were. Then he started posting on YouTube and next thing you knew, he was moving to the United States to sing. You tried to keep in contact at first, but then the rumors started going around and his calls started to become less and less.
You’ve gotten used to it - seeing him everywhere but not knowing him anymore. Although, you can never rid yourself of the feeling of missing Shawn, your best friend.
<<>>
You didn’t think you were nervous until now. You are sitting in the back seat of Brian’s car with Peter next to you and Connor in the pssenger seat as he drives you all to Shawn’s.
Your heart starts pounding, your palms start sweating, and for some reason, you can’t stop bouncing your leg. You haven’t seen Shawn in almost 5 years. He left in the middle of high school and you haven’t seen eachother in person since. That probably sounds crazy but anytime he came in town, you did your best to avoid his existence and eventually, he stopped coming as much. Now, you two live in the same city and you are still avoiding his existence.
Some may ask.. Why? When you spend your whole life thinking you found your person and they just leave, you can either decide deal with it and move on or let it hurt and anger you. Let’s just say you chose the later.
So as Brian parks in the driveway, you push down your fear and anxiety and get out of the car. You get Peter out as well and make your way to the front door.
Without knocking, Brian opens the front door to enter and you are immediately hit with the smell of alcohol, fried food, and.. fruit punch?? Why the hell did you think it was gonna be a good idea to bring your three year old to this.
Your little group makes way through the crowd towards the kitchen. You don’t want to lose peter within the dancing feet, so you pick him up and sit him on your hip.
Brian and Connor find their destination and you find a familiar head of brown curly hair.
“Bri, Con!! Finally you are here!” Shawn exclaims as he turns around. They give eachother a ‘bro’ hug and say hi to some other people hanging around. Shawn turns your way and freezes when you make eye contact.
“Bear? I uhh— I mean y/n.. Hi.” Shawn stands there awkwardly.
You hate it but he takes your breath away every damn time. He is wearing a bottoned down white shirt with the top few buttons open and black jeans. You can’t help but admire his flushed cheeks and fluffy hair.
“Hey Shawn.” You give him a small wave and Peter does too. His eyes immediately go to the child on your hip and back to you.
“It’s been a while.” He simply says.
It’s been a while?? That’s it??
“Yeah, it’s been a few years. This is my son, Peter.” You decide to get the awkward introductions out of the way now.
“Son??” He asks, looking shocked.
“Shawn!! We need you outside!!” Someone calls from the other side of the room. He doesn’t even aknowledge the caller, still looking between you and Peter.
“You better go, sounds like they need you.” You tell him and step closer to Brian so he can pass. He reluctantly breaks eye contact with you and heads into the crowd.
You watch as the head of curls gets lost in a sea of people and your heart breaks all over again.
The Connor Situation l Shawn Mendes Imagine.
(a/n): this is super different from what I've written before and it’s kinda long (3k+ words!)
summary: Shawn is Camila’s boyfriend, (y/n) is Connor’s girlfriend, but they’re drawn to each other.
warning: mentions of drugs, sex and cheating.
Tumblr media
A faint smell of weed lingered on the luxury Malibu house Shawn rented to celebrate the end of the tour.
Shawn wanted to spend time with the closer part of his team without the urge of moving from city to city and putting on a concert every night. Of course, no one from Shawn’s inner circle wanted to spend more time apart from their loved ones, so the house was big enough to host at least fifteen people.
You had met Connor back in high school, where he easily was one of the most popular kids because of his work with famous people and undeniable talent, so it was a surprise when he asked you out and everything went on from there. Of course, after he was admitted into UCLA it wasn’t expected that he’d take a break to tour the world with none other than Shawn Mendes.
You couldn’t deny it had been hard, especially after Shawn hired him for the entire tour and not just a part of it. You made it work, somehow.
Shawn, on the other hand, had been in love with Camila for ages before he mustered the courage to put a name on their relationship and go public, driving people around the world crazy, for better or for worse.
You carefully removed the covers from the bed, wanting to get something to eat since it was 9 AM already, but an arm draped over your waist prevented you from moving.
“Where are you going?” Asked the sleepy voice of your blue eyed boyfriend.
“To grab something to eat, do you want me to bring you something?” You whispered, not wanting to disturb his post sleep haze.
“Mm’no, I just want you on my bed.” He tried something that resembled an adorable pout, making you laugh.
“I’ll be back, don’t miss me too much.” You left a kiss on his messy hair before grabbing your silk robe that was thrown on the floor.
“You’re leaving under protest.” You heard Connor mutter before he went back to sleep, his soft snores flooding the room.
You carefully made your way to the kitchen, not wanting to wake anyone up. Everything was quiet until a tall figure leaning on the kitchen counter almost gave you a heart attack.
The person chuckled. “Good morning, I wish I had known I have that effect on you.” Shawn joked while sipping on his green tea.
“I didn’t think you’d be here, everybody else is asleep and I think I just died of a heart attack.” You dramatized, making Shawn’s eyes crinkle.
He was going to add something when a faint moan and the sound of a bed crashing softly against the wall, as if they had put a pillow on the corner to muffle the sound, flooded the house. You noticed a shudder run through Shawn’s body, but you didn’t know if it was because he was disgusted or turned on. “Well, at least someone’s having fun.” Shawn said with his eyebrows raised.
“My oh my, should we put a ‘no sex in the house’ warning?” A female voice entered the kitchen before you could respond. Camila had her hair tied on a messy ponytail and her outfit matched yours. “Hey baby, figured you’d be here.” She kissed Shawn’s shoulder.
“Yeah, I got hungry. I think there must be leftover jet lag on my body.”
Camila just then noticed your presence, and you didn’t blame her; you wouldn’t pay attention to anyone if Shawn was your man. “(y/n)! I’m so sorry I didn’t see you, guess I'm still sleeping,” She chuckled. “Is Connor still asleep?”
You nodded while taking a sip of water. “Yeah, he was snoring when I left the room.”
Just then, Connor’s voice could be heard from your room screaming “SHUT UP!”. Immediately after, the soft moaning and bed crashing stopped.
The three of you stared at each other before exploding in a fit of laughter. You couldn’t breathe, especially when Shawn placed a hand on your naked leg as he couldn’t contain his laughter.
Shawn was an attractive man, there was no denying that fact. He was desired by millions around the world, but what made him the most endearing was his personality; his timid yet extremely cheeky and mischievous demeanor was what made him a good catch and almost irresistible.
That didn’t make him better than Connor, though.
But it still didn’t make sense why his warm hand left a tingling feeling on your leg after he removed it, only to continue laughing along his girlfriend.
“I think I should go check on Connor, I’m not sure he took this morning sex thing very well.” You joked.
“I don’t think he’s unfamiliar with morning sexual activities, he loved calling you early to start the day.” Shawn said with a suggestive tone, looking for your eyes.
“I think I'm just gonna walk away now.” You narrowed your eyes playfully before walking away with your glass of water.
The image you found in front of you was equally funny and adorable.
A shirtless Connor was pouting with a pillow covering his ears, but you could still make up strands of his messy blond hair.
“You love making a scene, don’t you?” You put the glass of water on the night table before sitting on Connor’s legs.
Your boyfriend placed the pillow under his head to have a better position to admire you. He placed his hands on your waist while still pouting. “I swear to God it’s Brian and that Portuguese girl he sexted during the entire tour.”
You giggled. “You should be happy your friend is getting laid!”
“He can get laid quietly if he’s sharing a room. I swear during tour everyone got laid and I could hear them all, I didn’t think I'll have to relive my nightmares during our relax time.” He slowly moved his hands from your waist to your hips.
You carefully climbed from his legs to his lap so that his hands could reach your body more easily. “Are you mad because you didn’t get any during tour?” You leaned in to peck his lips. Connor nodded, still pouting. “You’re just a big baby, I did visit you during tour and, if I recall correctly, had sex.”
“It was not the same!” He protested. “And we had sex yesterday, but were careful to be quiet because Shawn stayed on his room while everyone went to the beach.
It was impossible to keep a straight face when your boyfriend was basically a big baby, so you opted for the easy way out; you carefully reached for his hair before kissing him. A low moan erupted from his throat before quickly and eagerly responding your action, transforming a sweet kiss to a passionate one as his hands wandered lower on your body.
Just as you noticed Connor’s hands trying to untie your robe, the door opened abruptly, making the both of you jump.
Brian didn’t notice your position at first. “Dude, you fucked my... Fuck! How dare you call me out when you’re fucking with (y/n) as well!”
Brian’s loud voice gathered some unwanted attention, especially Shawn’s that couldn’t help it but walk towards your room.
“Fuck, man. Don’t you knock?” Connor let out a deep breath while running his hands on his har, as you hid yourself under the blankets deciding whether this was funny or mortifying.
Brian left the room while quietly cursing your and Connor’s name, but Shawn stayed there, quietly eyeing the situation.
When you resurfaced from under the covers, you noticed his hazel orbs on your opened robe.
No, your mind was just playing games with you.
-
The incident had taken place two days ago and there wasn’t a person in the house that hadn’t made fun of you, but especially Brian, since he had actually been heard by everyone.
The weather was warm, perfect for a day on the fancy lagoon pool on the backyard.
Everyone tried to make a dish for lunch, but it ended up being a disaster since no one really thought there would be no space in the kitchen, but it was part of the fun.
Connor couldn’t help but bring his camera to never forget a moment of the incredible time you were having. You were lying on your stomach with your your swimsuit, not caring about anything until you noticed a pair of prying eyes on your figure. Shawn was sipping on a cold beer while talking to Josiah and Andrew, but his playful gaze couldn’t help himself.
You quickly turned around, knowing his girlfriend had just dived into the pool while joking with Dave and his wife. Meanwhile, your boyfriend was teasing Zubin as he zoomed on his mouth while he ate.
Suddenly, your body felt warm, too warm. You made eye contact with Connor, who looked at you worriedly as you made your way inside the house, but you made a kissing face at him to make him laugh.
The kitchen had become your favorite place on the house, especially because the sound of the waves crashing was calming and made the mess on your mind seem less important.
Shawn had always been flirtatious, it was part of your nature, so the whole freaking out act from your part was pure nonsense, but that wasn’t the reason why your mind was spinning.
No, it was because the love of your life was right outside looking out for you. The man of your dreams, Connor Brashier knew you like the palm of his hand and so did you. This whole infatuation with Shawn was because he was a world famous singer, not because you actually wanted something with him, because you knew he could never amount to the man who owned your heart.
Still, you jumped when his hand made contact with your naked skin, again.
“Hi Shawn, did you need anything?” You asked him in a fake, high pitched voice to mask your nervousness.
“You know I have a girlfriend, right?” He asked out of nowhere, making you almost choke.
“Yes, you know I have a boyfriend, right?” You retaliated, making Shawn chuckle.
“Oh, trust me, you don’t let me forget that.” He shook his head. You couldn’t bare to look him in the eye so opted to focus on the swallow tattoo on his hand.
A surge of courage ran through your veins as you mustered the courage to face Shawn. “Is it all in my head or have you been checking me out since we arrived?”
Shawn chuckled nonchalantly, which you couldn’t decide if it was annoying or incredibly charming. “Oh, it’s been way longer than these couple of days,” His confession took you off guard, you were about to ask him what was going on in his mind but he continued. “This is not a confession about loving you, I wish I never laid my eyes on you. But I can’t help this fire that you ignite inside me.”
You were taken aback as your body trembled with desire at his low voice and confession. “What about Camila? What about Connor?!”
“I love them both, that doesn’t mean I can’t want you.”
“Am I supposed to jump your bones now because I want to sleep with you? Have a one night stand and betray Connor?”
Your tone threw Shawn off since it was tainted with hostility. “I’m not expecting you to sleep with me, I was answering your question.”
You turned around, not being able to look at Shawn anymore. Your breathing was picking up and you knew he had taken a step closer to you. “Stop with the touches, with the glances, respect your girlfriend and your friend.”
“Likewise.” Shawn hit back.
“I’m not the one making suggestive comments or ogling you like a piece of meat!”
“Don’t play victim! You can cut the tension with a fucking knife so get off your high horse.”
Both of your breathings had picked up, your eyes closed and didn’t realize you had taken two steps forward.
You were standing so close to Shawn you could feel his breathing, but if you paid enough attention the voice of everyone in the backyard could be heard as well.
His head moved around, taunting your lips that were close enough to touch, but neither of you made the move. Your hands carefully found their home on his damp curls as his warm skin met yours.
You knew you were too wet to resist him, but in that right moment you heard footsteps, indicating someone was on their way to the kitchen. Swiftly, you pushed Shawn and turned on the tap to throw some cold water on your face, trying to calm your breathing and hold back the tears that were threatening to spill.
The person you least wanted to see appeared on the kitchen. Connor was standing with a worried look on his face, especially when he noticed the distressed state you were in.
“Babe, are you okay? You have me worried.” Connor walked towards you and tenderly placed his palm on your cheek.
You faked a smile before answering. “Yes, honey. I woke up a bit dizzy, but everything’s okay now.”
Shawn cleared his throat. “Yeah, she was a little pale when I found her, but she seems fine now. His eyes were fixated on yours.
“You wanna go lay down?” Connor asked fixing your hair, placing it behind your ears.
You wanted deny his suggestion, but you didn’t have it in you to see facing Shawn and see Camila. “Yeah, I think it’d be best.”
Connor lovingly kissed your forehead. “Let’s go, we can catch up with Modern Family.”
“You don’t have to, you should be having fun with your friends.”
“I’ve seen them for months, I just want to be with you.”
You didn’t notice when Shawn left the kitchen.
-
It was the last day on the Malibu house and the end of the trip couldn’t come soon enough. It was the last night before going home, since Shawn and Camila would be headed to Toronto while you and Connor stayed in California since both of you wanted to spend time with your families and had to get back to school.
Connor couldn’t help but notice something was off with you and it was easy to tell he wasn’t buying the whole “I'm not feeling good” bullshit. But it didn’t matter anymore, because chances were you would never see Shawn again, you wouldn’t cross paths with him or Camila, and you’d be able to focus on Connor, love him, cherish him and get rid of the guilt pooling your gut every time you saw him smiling at you.
Everyone headed to the bonfire on the private beach of the house, but it was the last place where you wanted to be.
Excusing yourself saying you were cold, you left a kiss on Connor’s hair before heading back inside.
It took Shawn ten minutes to excuse himself saying the big lunch had taken a toll on him.
It took him seconds to find you on the kitchen, quietly admiring the dark night.
And you didn’t process when his arms were around your waist, turning you around to face him.
This time you didn’t jump when his cold hand made contact with the inside of your thigh.
He didn’t hesitate to make you jump and walk you to the room he shared with his girlfriend.
There wasn’t time or intention for soft touches or sweet kisses to build the atmosphere. No, the atmosphere had been building for days and you didn’t want to give your mind any second to doubt your actions when you knew your boyfriend was right outside laughing with his friends, not knowing he was being betrayed by two of the most important people on his life.
A moan ripped trough Shawn’s throat as his tip made contact with your warmth. You didn’t waste anytime in start moving on top of him, placing your hands on his firm torso as he aided your movements.
Shawn tried his best to not make any sounds, all the noises wanting to escape his mouth were muffled by your hand and yours were being trapped by your own teeth biting on your lower lip so hard you could taste the blood.
The bliss was ethereal and both you and Shawn were sure you were able to touch the galaxy with your fingertips as an unremarkable high took over your sweaty bodies. Your body collapsed on top of his, both of your breathings were rapid and uneven. It took a minute for your mind to start spinning and realizing what had happened, but it wasn't enough to keep relishing the spasms still washing over your bodies.
It took a few minutes for your legs to regain its function and that was the moment you stood up and without sparing a second glance to the person lying on the bed with a fucked look, both mentally and physically. Your body hastily removed itself from the comfort of the bed, completely ignoring the female clothing scattered on the floor and the open suitcase.
You grabbed the first thing you saw in order to cover your naked body, but you didn’t realize it was a black Champion hoodie, impregnated with Gucci’s easily recognizable Made to Measure fragrance, otherwise known as Shawn’s smell that was known by everybody who had contact with him.
He didn’t ask any questions, he just watched you leave the room and close the door.
You knew the tears were coming because your vision became blurry, only reaching your room out of habit. But you didn’t expect the sight in front of you.
Connor was sitting on the edge of the bed, somber look decorating his soft features and the puzzle he had been trying to deny and convince himself was on his head, made sense. All the weird behavior and awkward encounters clicked.
And he didn’t need to look at the black hoodie to know it didn’t belong to him.
Baby
Tumblr media
author: The feedback to my first fic really brightened my day and yes I’m posting two days ins row but really this community makes me feel super welcomed and I love sharing more and more with you. Woke up feeeling a little in the dumps so I wrote this to brighten up anyone’s day whose also in the same spot. I feel you and thanks for reading! You rock! 💓
synopsis: Your heartbroken, again. And you hate sharing your feelings but Shawn hates that you hate sharing your feelings. Especially with him.
warnings: There’s like a half swear if you count it and a drop of angst but really just 1.5k of miscommunication fluff
Shawn was the baby of your friendship. He always was clinging to you with a hand always touching you. At first you thought he was trying to comfort you for some unknown reason, but he was comforting himself. You were his safety net, holding him like he was your world when he couldn’t get a song right, being the big spoon while you watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban again. So he did not expect to be holding your shaking figure when he bathed into your apartment on a Thursday night.
Your day was absolutely the worst experience, ever. You weren’t outgoing or a social butterfly by any means so finding friends was hard. For this reason, most of your friends were mutually grown through your boyfriend. He had always been a people magnet, the class clown, and it had drawn you in just like every other girl at that bar. But he looked right at you. Talked to you. And now that boy, no longer your friend, had the next girl wrapped around his finger as he walked by the cafe he knew you studied at today. Unsurprisingly, all his friends disappeared with him and you felt alone. Which is why you found yourself crumbling into your best and last friend, Shawn.
He was quick to react. You needed him and though he wanted your comfort when he first chose to come, you were what he wanted now.
“Honey?” You were so caught up in your emotions you’d fail to notice his arms wrapping around your bum and picking you up. Only noticing his movement when he spoke as you settled on top of him on your couch.
“I-I’m sorry, you shouldn’t have to be taking care of me,” you muttered, lifting yourself out of his warm arms that were all too inviting, “that’s my job. Why are you here anyway? Is something wrong?”
He hated when you did that. You were always the biggest love bug when he needed you to be, but you brushed your feelings away like yesterday’s trash. He wanted to be there for you. That’s really all he wanted when you first opened up to him, to be there for you.
“I don’t know, is something wrong? Are you okay?”
You gave him the look he hated. The ‘no but I’m not giving into your comfort that easily’ look. He started to fiddle with his feather ring, his good luck charm because you said it was your favorite. Shawn grumbled to himself hating that you could deflect his comfort and make it about him so quickly. He traded out his ring for your fingers.
“I hate it when you do that,” he muttered, eyes tracing the scar on the second knuckle of your index finger, “you always make it about me and I just want to be here for you. Why is that so weird?”
You’d never thought that maybe Shawn really did just want to be there as your friend. You knew you were hard to deal with, most people’s patience would’ve run out by now, but not Shawn. He’s been through these stupid motions so many times that you were almost as confused as him as to why you couldn’t let him in. It’s not like he’s going to run off in fear if you say you were a little more heartbroken than you’d like to admit.
He sighed at your silence knowing an excuse would come next, then the ‘why can’t I care about you’ fight, and then your tears would start flowing when you would look down. He knew that your tears would flow down the bridge of your nose, before they ran down your cheeks as you made eye contact with him, and eventually they’d run into the corner of your mouth where he’d kiss them away. He knew this and he knew that you’d be shy around him for the week after as your walls were being rebuilt. He hated that he knew.
“I hate him.” You whispered. He hated that he knew who you were talking about and that he still hurt you. But he was more so shocked that he heard your pain so early in the process.
“Do you want to talk about it?” He saw your head shake no.
“Yeah, I figured,” he sighed, looking across the couch at you, “c’mere let me hold you.”
You wanted to say no, but the look in Shawn’s eyes was clear. So you crawled back into his secure arms that you honestly wished you’d never left in the first place. Squished into his chest, you felt the most serene all week. He still smelt like Shawn and he felt like Shawn. He was Shawn. Your Shawn.
“Anything else I can do?” Your sweet serenity was interrupted by his soft voice, surprisingly you weren’t upset about it. You shook your head again.
“Do you want me to be quiet?” He paused for a moment, getting no reaction from you, “would it be better if I spoke?”
Normally you wanted to pity yourself in silence but his voice was smooth and comforting. You nodded.
“I wish I could stop this all from happening. I hate seeing you so broken up about a guy who doesn’t deserve you,” you squeezed your arms tighter around the small of his back, “I know that me saying this doesn’t make you love yourself anymore but I wish it did. There are guys who would bend over backwards just so you would see them standing right in front of you,” you giggled, “I’m being serious! And I know you’ll probably never even notice but there is a guy right in front of you. Who hates seeing you like this and wants you to be treated right.”
“Oh, yeah?” You sniffled into his chest, but he didn’t seem to care, “whose this person that I’m too blind to see?”
“You know who.”
He was frustrating you because frankly you had no clue. If this guy was all too perfect and wanted to treat you better than all those guys who left you in the dirt, then where was he to stop you from going into a new relationship blindly? Why couldn’t Shawn see that you didn’t care about this random guy who was head over heels for you?
“Clearly I don’t,” you pushed off of him, aggravated, “so please do enlighten me.”
You hated that Shawn was trying to set you up with some random guy when you clearly just wanted him. Why was it so hard for him to see? There’s a reason he can read you like an open book, because you let him. Your walls weren’t there to protect yourself from heartbreak, well they kind of were, they were built so you wouldn’t get too close to the one boy who could never have. Your best and last friend standing.
“Me,” you whipped your head around, “how are you unable to see that I’m in love with you?“
Shawn closed his eyes, beating himself up for ruining everything. Sure, he was being honest about loving you but he’d rather have you as a friend than not at all. He didn’t open his eyes, not when he heard the patter of feet or felt the cushion shift under new weight. No, he didn’t open his eyes until he felt your heart thump against his chest. You were so close to him. Shawn had never gotten a close look at you, not this close. He’d watch you wrestle in the blankets in the morning when you stayed together but hadn’t gotten too close, worried his breath would hitch or he’d be too loud.
“Shawn?” His eyes locked with yours, he hadn’t seen the gold rim around your iris until now, “why didn’t you tell me?”
“I’m not willing to lose you for my dumbass feelings,” his head pressed into your neck, he wanted to be close to you before you pulled away, “I’m sorry I threw that on you, I didn’t plan on it coming out. I was just so upset that you were being hurt by these stupid guys when I was right here. I don’t want anything to change okay? We’ll just act like I never said anything and I won’t say anything about it. Ever.”
“Everything is about to change,” his breath stopped in his throat, “I love you, too.”
His head pulled out of your neck so fast you worried he’d get whiplash. His grin was wider than anything you’d ever seen adorn his face. He looked happy, so very very happy.
“Baby,” you smiled at his tone, “ohmygod, you’re my baby now!”
He jumped from the couch lifting you with ease, spinning you around it almost matched the rate your head spun when his lips lowered towards yours. He paused almost unsure of himself until you smiled and pulled his neck down. So his head touched yours, nose brushed yours as you sighed softly, and finally his lips touched yours.
Everything had changed and it was all working out just fine.
Boats, Best Friends, and Burgers
Shawn Mendes x Reader
Tumblr media
A girl with walls up against boys meets a boy at a party who whisks her into his world. Maybe love isn’t a distraction after all.
Y/N never considered herself naive nor trusting. She prided herself on how she kept to herself and protected her heart, unlike her college roommate or her friends who would throw themselves at boys when they do much as smiled or grasped their hand. No, Y/N would not destroy herself like that.
She had college, a tiring feat that would absolutely be even more deteriorated with the addition of a boyfriend, and Y/N liked being by herself, it gave her a peace and quiet without obligations. Y/N did not need the distraction of a relationship at all.
But that damn boat party changed everything.
“Y/N!” Connor shouted through the kitchen, his voice laced with despiration and a hint of whining. “You can’t just rot away in your apartment forever!”
“Mmm, I can and will.” Y/N lashed back, taking another drink from her bottle of Gatorade. She and Connor had been friends since Pre-K, the boy seemingly insisting on filling some big brother role (ironic, since Y/N was two months older than him). “You know I don’t do parties.”
Connor scoffed, shaking his head. “It wouldn’t kill you to do one! I’m only back in LA for a week before tour starts again, I want to spend time with my best friend.”
“You can. With pizza. And a movie. On the couch. Not on some boat out on the bay with hormone-ridden girls and boys reeking of testosterone.” Y/N reasoned, Connor grasping Y/N’s arms.
“Please. Just this one party. We go for an hour, and if you want to leave we’ll leave.” He begged.
Y/N let out a flamboyant groan, pouting her lips. “Fine! Fine. One hour.”
Connor let out a whoop, throwing his fists in the air. Y/N shook her head, hoping she’d suddenly contract a case of tuberculosis or the bubonic plague, both of which, in her opinion, would be a far more pleasant ordeal than that party.
Hours later Connor dragged Y/N onto the boat, the loud music and squealing of drunken girls flooding her senses. She turned to Connor about to beg if they could leave, but he gave her a rather pointed look, silencing that suggestion.
Y/N was definitely not dressed for the occasion. Boys dressed in the ugliest Hawaiian shirts and swim trunks, girls in tiny skirts and booty shorts with crop tops or bikinis. Y/N merely wore a pair of bermuda shorts and a John Mayer concert shirt from the summer.
Y/N slowly pushed through the crowd with her extroverted best friend, Connor shouting out and walking over to some friends. Y/N looked around, the ideas of Jell-O shots and grinding circles quickly becoming rather unappealing to her.
She soon caught sight of paradise! Alas! A island amongst the turbulent throng of sexual desires and rising blood sugar. An empty corner, back at the end of the boat. Y/N made a beeline there, humming with satisfaction as she was separated from the rioting mess.
Y/N leaned her elbows on the railing and looked out at the pinkish sunset over the city, closing her eyes and inhaling the salty breeze.
“Oh, shit.”
Her eyes snapped open and Y/N turned, seeing a tall curly haired boy standing a few feet from her. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t see this corner was taken.”
Y/N nodded. “Yup. I’ve been here fifteen minutes and I’m pretty sure by the twenty mark I might start twerking or doing body shots off the lifeguard.”
The boy laughed, his fingers figeting nervously. “Not if I beat you to suddenly ripping my shirt off and seducing five girls at once.”
It was Y/N’s turn to laugh, her mind sending off sirens and screaming RUN AWAY! but she just couldn’t.
“I’d rather jump first.” She sighed.
“Oh God, me too. I’m so sick of these people.” He gasped out, leaning on the railing next to her. “One more girl pulls at my hair again and I’m going to have a mental breakdown buzz cut.”
Y/N smiled, holding out her hand. “Y/N.”
“Shawn.” He grinned, encasing Y/N’s hand in his giant one, shaking it firmly. “Nice to have someone who has a BAC of 0.0.”
“Maybe not. Perhaps they sweat it all off and it fumes. Maybe it’s like a second hand high, we’re just second hand drunk.” Y/N mused.
“Maybe.” Shawn agreed. “How’d you even get here? If you mind me asking, since you obviously don’t want to be here.”
Y/N let out a scoff of laughter. “My idiot best friend. He dragged me here out of guilt. He travels a lot, we don’t see each other much. You?”
“Friend as well. I’m traveling a lot too, said we needed to “wind down” I guess. Fucking Brashier...” Shawn muttered.
Y/N turned to Shawn, raising her eyebrows. “Brashier? Did you say Brashier?”
“Yeah. Why?” Shawn questioned.
“Oh my gosh...” Y/N laughed. “Connor dragged you here too.”
Shawn stared at her in confusion for a moment before bursting into laughter. “No way! You’re THE Y/N! Connor talks about you all the time!”
“Only good things I suppose.” Y/N responded.
Shawn shrugged, Y/N laughing and slapping him lightly on the arm. “That must make you Shawn Mendes, international pop superstar. Very impressive.”
He smiled, leaning back against the railing. “I guess I am. And you’re the Y/N who fell of a two story roof.”
“He did not—I gonna kill him!” Y/N gasped, the two laughing.
The night drifted on, the sky dark and glistening with stars as the two talked for hours. Y/N remembered clearly writing her number on his wrist before Connor took her home, herself wanting to slap the smug grin off the boy’s face.
Texts with Shawn became phone calls and FaceTimes, and soon dates. Y/N was tripping and falling so fucking deep for him. They stayed in contact during his European tour, him practically begging her to come with him on his North American tour. “You’re my anchor!” He exclaimed over the phone, Y/N blushing insanely. “You keep me grounded.”
So the playful shoves became the interlacing of hands, the smack talk over games of Mariokart became sweet pecks on cheeks. Y/N took a gap year off to follow him across the continent, because if he had breaken down the walls she spent so long building he was worth it.
The North American tour had wrapped up after many months, Y/N and Shawn enjoying lunch together before he had to leave for Asia. They devoured their burgers, laughing and talking while they basked in the time they had left.
Y/N had just finished her pickle-ketchup-cheddar burger when Shawn smiled up at her.
“Y/N L/N, I think I’m in love with you.”
Y/N looked up in surprise, Shawn leaning over the table with a smile. “Y/N, I know I am in love with you. And I need you to know it.”
She felt her heart race, a grin gracing her features. “Shawn Mendes, you somehow got me to love you too. No other man can boast as much.”
He smiled so bright grasping her hand as he leaned over the table, running his fingers through her hair as he connected his lips with hers.
Y/N deepened into the kiss, wanting nothing more but to melt into him and never end the sweet euphoria clouding her brain.
But, with the disdain of suffocation, they pulled away gasping for air. Y/N leaned her forehead against his.
Shawn laughed. “Boats, best friends, and burgers.”
“Best way into a girl’s heart.” Y/N whispered, grinning before grabbing either side of his face and crashing her lips against his again.
Sick day (Connor x Y/n)
Tumblr media
Hello again pretty people, enjoy :) Requested by anon: You taking care of Connor while he is sick
Word count: 731
#Blurb Week 1
- - - - - -
"Atchoo" Connor sneezed and woke up. His throat was sore, and his eyes were so heavy that he would probably just go back to sleep if it wasn't for his phone ringing.
"Hi," He said with a raspy voice, almost inaudible.
"Hi, Connor, Andrew here. We are filming some extra footage to the flow promo today. If you could please he here at 13:00 that would be perfect" Connor looked at the clock marking 9a.m.  He was supposed to be up at 7a.m. so he would finish some editing before the rest of the video was filmed. But he lost the track of time this morning. Y/n was also sleeping still cuddled up in him.
"Okay. I will be there. Bye" Connor considered going back to sleep he was feeling his entire body extremely cold for some reason, and he also loved morning cuddles. But of course, time was short since his alarm didn't get off at 7 as he had planned. Connor slowly untangled himself from his girlfriend, making sure to not wake her up. He sited on the side of the bad feeling his head was about to explode, he also suddenly felt the need to trow up, and he tried to drink some water from the cup of water you always keep in your bedside. It didn't help him at although, it just made it worse. As soon as the water reached his stomach, he was sprinting to the bathroom and throwing up everything he had. You woke up with the sound some minutes later, it took some seconds to figure out what was going on until you looked at your side and noticed Connor was not there.
"Are you okay Baby?" You asked, reaching the bathroom door and seeing Connor brushing his tooth.
"Not really." He said, his voice very low and raspy.
"What's going on," You asked hugging him from behind and waiting till he was done brushing his tooth.
"My head hurt so bad," He said, turning around and hugging you. His head burning your neck.
"I think you have a fever Blue eyes," You said hugging him tightly back.
"But y/n, I have to work," He said, making you smile, he was very committed with everything from work, and this wouldn't be different.
"Come back to bed Connor, I will bring you some tea and a fever pill," You said, grabbing him by the hand and guiding him back to bed. You put the covers in him but before you could move to go get him the things he needed, he grabbed your waist and pulled you back to lay down with him. "Baby you need meds, let me, please go them for you."
"My head hurts Y/n," He said hugging you and putting his head on your chest.
"I know Con, that is why I was going to grab your pills, remember?" You explained slowly. But all he did was grab your hands and put it in his head.
"Please don't go," He asked sniffing in the end. He couldn't open his eyes anymore, but he was crying from the pain he was feeling in his head. And the last thing he wanted was to be alone right now.
"Baby, I need to go get you medicine. So your head can stop hurting, I promise I will be fast." You said, trying to get out again from his embrace but falling one more time.
"Please don't go," he sniffed again. "I don't want to be alone," He said, tears still leaving his eyes.
"Okay baby, I will stay and massage your head for a while. And then I will go get you the fever meds and call Andrew that you can't go work today." You said, bringing your fingers to his hair and carefully massaging his scalp, making him whisper in relief. He did' t answer to your proposition, but he was asleep again after some minutes, so you got up and called Andrew. You also made him a cup of tea and grabbed him some fever pills. He spent the entire day glued to you, as he always did when he was sick. But you didn't bother at all and kept cuddling him the whole day, having small fights to make him let you go to make him food or grab him a cup of water.
Cruel Summer [Part 3]
ABOUT: Y/N is still dealing with Shawn having to fake date Camila, but luckily has Connor to keep her company
WORD COUNT: 3,291
NOTES: Thank you all so much for all the sweet comments and encouragement! Also, if you are here for the “CONtent” then you will love this chapter! haha! I love and appreciate all the love and comments so please keep it up!
Part 1 l Part 2 l Part 4
Tumblr media
You had seen sadness in Shawn’s eyes when he had watched you climb into a different ride than him to the beach. The two of you likely would have been able to sneak in some hand holding during the ride there, but you also knew that you would still need to be careful, and it hadn’t felt worth the risk. If someone drove by that recognized Shawn and Camila things would likely need to be played up, and that just wasn’t something you were in the mood to deal with just yet. You were already more than aware of what was going to happen and go down at the beach, and after the display at lunch you could only take so much.
With Shawn’s SUV pulling up first you were able to see the crowds already beginning to gather as phones began to be pulled out. You supposed there wasn’t much of a way to hide at the beach given the fact that you weren’t ever wearing many clothes, but the point of today’s outing was for them to be seen, so you supposed it was working out in Shawn’s favor. It was still a little crazy to watch though. You were more than aware of your boyfriend’s celebrity status, but to you he was just Shawn, and it was crazy the way people swarmed around him, getting in his face for nothing more than a picture or a selfie.
Shawn was amazing about it though. The large crowds freaked you out, but he knew just how to manage them all, and it was clear that he loved his fans. He and Camila were clearly doing their thing as they took some pictures but finally managed to escape as they followed you, and the rest of your group out to the beach so you could all set up.
“You coming out with us Y/N?” Shawn asked after all the towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers had all been set up and laid out for the group to enjoy.
“Nah, I think I’m going to lay out and catch a little sun for awhile,” you explained as you moved to take a seat on one of the towels.
“You sure?” he asked, his face breaking character for a moment as his eyebrows furrowed in concern. You knew that he was feeling something after the two of you hadn’t ridden together, and now here you were declining to go out in the water, but you knew the stage was being set for him and Camila and you truly weren’t looking for a front row seat.
“Yeah, I’ll be out later. Just want to relax for a bit,” you assured him as you nodded out towards the water. “Go have fun,” you added, doing your best to show him that you were okay, even if on the inside your heart hurt just thinking about the show that was about to be put on.
“Okay, I’ll see you in a bit then,” he finally gave in as he too offered a small smile before reaching for Camila’s hand so he could lead her out to the water, more than assuring you that you had made the correct choice in choosing not to join. Actually, given the way that had already made you feel, you weren’t so sure that you would even want to head out into the water at all.
Making yourself comfy for likely the duration of the day you decide to take off your shorts and tank top before finally reaching into the small beach bag that you had packed and pulled out a pair of sunglasses. You had no plans to move anytime soon, especially as you caught some images of Shawn playing with Camila in the water, which had you deciding to lay back and enjoy the feel of the sun’s warm rays on your mostly bare skin.
Knowing what was happening out in that water was making it a bit hard to let go and relax, which is actually why you were up for the distraction as a figure caused a shadow to fall across your body. “You’re blocking my sun Brashier,” you joked as you opened your eyes to spot the very familiar face of one of your most favorite people these days.
“Oops, my bad,” he softly chuckled, clearly not feeling much remorse for what he had done, but thankfully he moved anyway as he took a seat on the towel next to you. “You put on some sunscreen right?” he asked, and while it could be taken as a bit of a joke, you knew he actually cared, which was weirdly adorable. Connor had grown rather protective over you these past few weeks and it certainly hadn’t gone unnoticed or unappreciated.
“Actually no, but I probably should. Why? You hoping to get a chance to rub it all over me?” you playfully asked, not actually sure where a comment like that had come from. If anyone were to have been listening in it might have sounded flirty, but you obviously weren’t flirting with Connor. If anything he was just becoming one of your best and closest friends.
“No, but I wouldn’t be opposed,” he joked on back as a soft giggle left your lips.
“Oh yeah, I’m sure Sha..Someone” you quickly corrected. “would love that” you sarcastically added with a soft shake of the head as you too sat up so you could reach into your bag for the sunscreen.
“Yeah, probably not. I wouldn’t want someone else’s hands all over my girlfriend,” he agreed, and while maybe he hadn’t been thinking about Shawn and Camila, in that moment that was directly where your mind had gone as you looked out towards the water to see Shawn with his arms clearly wrapped around Camila, with her own arms around him, and based on their stance her legs clearly wrapped around his waist. “Oh shit, I’m sorry Y/N. I shouldn’t have said that,” he quickly apologized after his eyes had followed yours. “I wasn’t thinking.”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s not your fault,” you cut him off, not wanting to talk or even think about Shawn at the moment. As much as you loved Shawn, and normally loved talking about him you just couldn’t do it right now. You needed to separate yourself from him and everything going on as much as possible.
“So,” you began as you poured some of the sunscreen into your hands so you could start rubbing it into your arms and your legs. “You not taking any video or pictures today?” you asked, not noticing his usual camera in his hands.
“Nah, I’m sure there will be enough footage of today,” he softly chuckled as he glanced around, and as your own gaze followed you could see not only some paparazzi, but all the people on the beach with their own cell phones out capturing the moment that you personally couldn’t wait to forget.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” you sigh as you continue to rub in the lotion, making sure to cover all of your uncovered skin. “Any chance I could get you to rub some on my back?” you ask, apparently catching him completely off guard, his cheeks turning an amusing shade of red.
“What? You sure it’s not weird?” he somewhat sputtered, his innocence and reaction making you laugh once more.
“No, not unless we make it weird. We’re old friends remember? It’s fine,” you playfully add and shrug, since you personally don’t see any problem with it. “You’d just be doing me a favor. Plus, it’s not like we’re doing any of that” you further offer as you once again nod out to where your boyfriend is with his arms wrapped around another woman.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” he finally gives in and agrees as he reaches for the bottle. You can tell he still feels weird about it, and you are about to tell him not to worry about it, but there seems to be no hesitation as he moves behind you and squirts some of the sunscreen into his hands before he moves to rub it in.
You start to wonder if maybe this wasn’t a good idea, since you hadn’t ever realized how personal this could feel or be, especially since his hands pretty much have free access to all of your back except for the small portion covered by your bikini. However, you have to admit it sort of feels good too as you close your eyes and take in the feeling as his hands move over your shoulders and down the back of your arms.
“Okay, I think I got it all,” he declares, bringing you out of your trance as you open your eyes and turn your head around to smile at him.
“Thanks Con, like I said earlier. You’re always there and always saving me,” you teased, trying to ease some of this weird tension you are feeling, even if you aren’t sure why.
“No problem Y/N,” he smiles back as he moves to take his spot once again on the towel next to you. From there the two of you fall into a comfortable silence as you both lay back and enjoy the beautiful day and the warm sunshine on your skin.
You are only brought back into reality when you hear the sound of a click, causing your eyes to spring open as you glance in the direction of where the sound came. “Connor Brashier!” you exclaim as you spot him with his camera, and an adorable sheepish grin. “I thought you said you weren’t going to be doing any picture taking or filming today,” you playfully accuse as your eyes narrow, even if he can’t see it behind your sunglasses covered eyes.
“I said I wasn’t planning on it, not that I didn’t bring my camera” he chuckled with a bit of a casual shrug. “Plus, you looked like a model laying there and I couldn’t pass up the picture,” he further explained as you rolled your eyes.
“You’re ridiculous, you know that?” you ask, even if your statement is followed with yet another soft giggle. “You’re lucky I love you, but actually I think we should get a picture. I think eventually I’ll someday want to remember this beach day..maybe,” you muse as you sit up and reach into your bag for your cell phone.
“You and your selfies,” he teases, and this time it’s his turn to laugh as you move to bring your faces next to each other so you can snap the picture. However, as soon as you snap it, you are surprised as you feel him reach for your sunglasses as he pulls them off your face and holds onto them. “Now one without. You need to show off your eyes. They are your best feature,” he declares, and while you give him a playful glare, you give in as you move to snap one more picture.
“Alright, sunglasses please?” you ask as you hold out your hand after posting the second picture onto your instagram.
“No, I don’t think so,” he decides as he holds them away from you as your eyes go wide in playful surprise. “I think if you want them you need to come and get them,” he further declares as he moves to stand up.
“And why do I need to do that?” you ask, not very convinced that you even want to get up from your comfortable spot in the sand and your towel.
“Because, you can’t lay out and miss out on going into the water. That’s lame,” he declared as if it were so obvious.
“I don’t know about that, I’m rather comfortable right where I am,” you smirk. Actually, you wouldn’t totally mind getting out there, but there is definitely a little something holding you back, and you have to imagine that Connor knows exactly what that is.
“Well, then it looks like I’m just going to have to make you go out there,” he casually states as he takes a few steps towards you.
“Connor..” you trail, your eyes narrowing, this time him being able to see it clearly due to the fact that your glasses are still in his hand, or at least they were until you watch as he lightly tosses them onto his towel. You weren’t sure if it was his plan or not to distract you, but it had definitely worked as your attention went to your sunglasses as he quickly closes off the rest of the distance between the two of you.
“Connor!” you loudly shriek as he easily reaches for you and lifts you up and over his shoulder almost as if you weigh nothing, even if you are wiggling and putting up somewhat of a fight.
“I warned you..” he countered as he began to make his way towards the water, as you continue to call out his name in playful warning, even if there are also loud giggles accompanying your pleas as well.
It doesn’t take long till you are both out in the water, and thankfully he sets you down softly instead of just throwing you in like he very easily could have done. However, that certainly doesn’t mean you are going to just let all of this go. “You’re dead Brashier,” you confidently declare as your eyes once again narrow as you move to splash some water at him, as he does his best to dodge it.
Soon, the two of you are in a full blown water fight as you chase each other, each of you trying to get the other more wet or dunk the other under the ocean water.
“Okay, okay,” you surrender as you hold up your hands, your stomach hurting from laughing so hard. “You win, you win,” you fully give in, him nodding and laughing as well. It is only then with you having a bit of a break that you catch the eyes of your boyfriend just a short distance away, an unreadable look in his eye.
Normally you are always able to tell what is going through his mind, but right now you can’t fully make it out as your eyes fully meet. In this moment you really don’t know what to think as the two of you seem to now be sending the other a questioning look.
“What?’ you mouth as you tilt your head to the side, but instead he just shakes his head and turns back to Camila, and even from here you can see that his smile is half assed.
“What was that about?” Connor asks, you forgetting for a moment that he was close by, and had likely watched the whole exchange.
“I’m not sure,” you admit as you run your hands through your completely wet hair, pushing it all back and out of your face.
“Well are you at least glad you got up and out into the water?” he asked, changing the subject, doing what Connor does best as he distracts you from all of your worries.
“As much as I hate to admit it, yes,” you loudly and dramatically sigh before you both let out another soft laugh.
The two of you spend the next twenty or so minutes wading in the water, playing in the waves, and chatting about random things. As much as you don’t really want to do it, you know that the two of you should probably head over to Shawn and the rest of your group, especially since everyone seems to be congregating over there.
“Are you sure?” Connor asks, reminding you all over again just how thankful you are for his friendship.
“Yeah, gotta face the music sometime,” you shrug, knowing that you’d have to deal with it, and you might as well do it now, even if it will likely bring down the fun mood you’ve surprisingly been in for the majority of your beach day.
“Hey everyone,” you smile as you and Connor come over, making sure to make eye contact with Shawn in particular. Unfortunately that same unreadable look can be seen in his eyes.
“You having fun?” Shawn softly asks once everyone else seems to be caught up in their own conversations, and as you try and ignore the fact that his arm is still wrapped around Camila while she chats with a few others.
“Yeah, it’s actually been a surprisingly fun day,” you admit, a sincere smile on your face as you reminisce not only about your beach day, but having walked back to the hotel with Connor, and also having “helped” him edit some concert footage.
“I could tell,” he grumbles, sounding anything but happy with your confession, catching you somewhat off guard.
“Why are you saying it like that?” you ask, confusion clearly showing through.
“I’m sorry, it’s just been a long day,” he sighs as he does his best to hide the fact that he is clearly going through something, and not his normal self.
“It’s okay, I get it,” you assure him, even if you kind of sort of don’t. He’s never been like that with you, and you honestly don’t get why he would be now, but at least you can understand today being a long and weird day.
“I think we just need to talk tonight after we get back. Maybe cancel dinner with everyone else and just order in some room service,” he suggests as you shrug your shoulders, actually liking the idea of some alone time, but also feeling weird about the idea of the two of you needing to have some kind of “talk”.
“Yeah, that’s fine. Whatever you want ba..Shawn,” you once again find yourself correcting, and while it’s only you, and the rest of your group out there, and you know no one would bat an eye to you calling him your usual ‘babe’ pet name, there is just something about him having his arm around Camila that holds you back.
You can tell he notices as he breaks character for a moment and his brows furrow, but soon you are both distracted as Camila pats Shawn on the chest to get his attention to listen to a funny story that Brian is telling.
The rest of the day at the beach thankfully goes by pretty fast, and you are definitely ready to head back to the hotel, and more than ready to get away from Camila, and the show that had been put on there.
As everyone goes to get into the SUV’s to drive them back you feel someone grab your wrist as you glance down towards the hand, before glancing up to see Shawn’s face as he immediately drops it. “Ride with us,” he pleads, and honestly you are torn.
Looking up ahead you can see Connor heading towards one of the other SUV’s, and truthfully that route seems much more appealing. “Please,” you hear him beg, which almost seals the deal, but you find yourself shaking your head.
“I think I’m going to ride back with Conner and the rest of the guys, but we’ll hang out tonight okay?” you offer, afraid that he’ll be upset, but honestly, it’s more frustration and sadness that you see wash over him as he nods his head and moves to get in after Camila.
“I’ll see you soon,” you softly call after him as he looks back and gives you a half assed smile before shutting the door behind him. It’s hard not to sigh and feel a bit dejected as you walk and make your way over to your own ride, but you know that you are only looking out for yourself, and right now that is something you need to do, and you hope that is something that Shawn understands.
Cruel Summer [Part 2]
ABOUT: Y/N is still dealing with Shawn having to fake date Camila, but luckily has Connor to keep her company
WORD COUNT: 2,946
NOTES: I have been so blown away by the love for Part 1, so thank you so much for reading and loving it! I’m so excited about this story, and I couldn’t help myself and write Part 2 today, and with the way my muse is flowing I can promise you that Part 3 will be coming shortly after! I also expect part 3 to be pretty intense and dramatic, so be sure to stay tuned!
Part 1 l Part 3
Tumblr media
You were doing everything in your power not to let this Camila/Fake dating thing ruin your summer. You and Shawn only got so much time together and you didn’t want to waste it complaining about something that you had absolutely no control over it. Even more, you knew it wasn’t something Shawn had much control over either. He had been just as excited as you for you to officially be on tour with him, and to maybe have your own relationship finally out there in the open.
Obviously that hadn’t happened, since once again you were having to spend the afternoon trailing behind Shawn and Camila as they held hands, and here you were once again trying to convince yourself that it was all for show, it meant nothing, and if Shawn wanted to be holding hands with someone, he would have wanted it to be you. Neither of them may have been actors, but the performers in the two of them were doing a damn fine job. Hell, if you didn’t know that nothing was going on you truly would have believed that the two of them were madly in love with each other.
That right there was the hardest thing. You knew it wasn’t real, and the second you and Shawn were alone he constantly showed you how much he cared, and how it was you that he wanted to be with, but watching the two of them together was a total mindfuck. It had been two weeks of this now, and no matter how many times you tried to prepare yourself for all of this, you just couldn’t help the awful pit in your stomach that left you feeling like you needed to throw up every time you saw the two of them together.
You could have stayed in the hotel room, or even done some exploring of your own, but this was supposed to be something you and Shawn experienced together, and while it was Camila he was holding hands with, you didn’t want to miss out on even more than you already were.
You were currently walking with the group, and while you were sure you could join in any of the few different conversations that were going on, all you could concentrate on was the way Shawn kept leaning down and whispering into Camila’s ear, and the way she would respond with a laugh, or how she would find some way to touch him, and make him smile back in return in a way that you so much wished that it could be you doing those things.
You were sure you had some kind of scowl on your face, but you couldn’t help it, but luckily a distraction soon came in the form of Connor as he lightly nudged his shoulder into yours.
“Hey,” you smiled, even if it was incredibly forced. “Aren’t you supposed to be filming all of that and capturing the moment?” you asked, trying to hide the sound of annoyance and resentment that you could feel pulsating through you.
“I think I’ve got enough. Besides, you looked like you could use the company,” he shrugged as if it was no big deal, and actually, for the first time since you all left the hotel you were legitimately smiling in return. You weren’t sure how he did it, but these past two weeks Connor had done an amazing job of distracting you, and keeping you focused on the big picture here.
“Is it that obvious?” you asked as you wrinkled your nose a bit.
“Kind of, but it’s understandable. That can’t be easy to watch,” he offered, managing to keep the appreciative smile on your face. It was that sort of thing that you did love about Connor. He never made you feel like a shitty girlfriend for having any sort of resentful feelings.
It wasn’t as if Shawn was doing that, since you were pretty sure he was waiting for you to break down and call him an asshole, but you couldn’t do that to him. As much as you wanted to be upset, and you wanted this to end, you complaining about it would only make all of this even more miserable for the both of you. For some reason though, with Connor you did feel like you could let down some of the walls and let your true feelings out.
‘It’s not. I know what it is, and what it isn’t, but I hate it so much. I stupidly believed that this would somehow get easier, but if anything it’s getting harder,” you sighed as you reached up to brush a strand of hair behind your ear.
“That’s not stupid Y/N.” he quickly assured you. “This would be hard for anybody,” he further reminded you as you followed Shawn, Camila, and the rest of the group into the restaurant that had been decided on for lunch. “Come and sit with me,” he directed as you nodded and followed him to a few empty seats
There were some empty seats directly across from Shawn and Camila, and while you were sure they had been saved for you, you actually found yourself glad that Connor had directed the two of you to pretty much the opposite side and as far away from them as he could manage. You could see Shawn looking at you from the corner of your eye, and when you finally made eye contact you could see the question in his eyes.
Not really sure how to explain it from all the way over here, and not wanting to get into it you playfully shrugged your shoulders before doing your best to turn your attention to Connor, who seemed more than willing to keep you occupied on anything but the little show Shawn and Camila were putting on.
Once again, you totally got it. He was supposed to put his arm around the back of her chair, and supposed to be touching the back of her neck, and running his fingers through his hair, but the sight of it was completely nauseating, which honestly made the idea of eating anything seem absolutely disgusting and unappealing.
“You not hungry?” Connor asked after all the food had been placed on the table. You had managed to take a few bites, but mostly you were just moving the food around with your fork, and clearly Connor had taken notice.
“Not really,” you admitted, thankfully not having to explain. “Let’s get out of here,” he suggested, an honest smile coming to your face once again.
“You sure?” you asked, not wanting him to miss out on a good lunch, or even a little bit more exploring with the group. Later in the day everyone was going to be heading to the beach for a pre scheduled time where the paparazzi would come and shoot some “candid” shots of Shawn and Camila, but that was still a few hours away.
“I’m sure. The food isn’t even that great,” he shrugged, even though you totally knew that he was lying. From the little bit you had managed to get down it had actually tasted pretty amazing, but you also weren’t going to complain about an easy escape either. “Plus, I have some editing to do from last night’s show. You can help,” he suggested, giving you even more of a reason not to say no.
“Okay, let’s go,” you agreed with a nod as the two of you stood up. As much as you wished that you could just continue to ignore the little show, you couldn’t help it as your gaze moved to Shawn, just as he turned to look at you and Connor. It was clear he was confused, and this time instead of trying to communicate with him in any sort of way Connor took the reins.
“Hey, Y/N and I are going to head back to the hotel for a bit. I have some editing to do and she offered to help,” he explained, thankfully saving you from having to admit any sort of truth, even if you were sure everybody here already knew why.
“Oh, well are you guys still coming to the beach later?” Shawn quickly asked, as his eyes moved from Connor back to you.
“Yeah, We’ll be there,” you smiled, doing your best to reassure him, even if in this moment it certainly felt like you were the one who needed the reassuring.
“Okay. I’ll see you guys later,” Shawn offered, only looking at you as he spoke.
While you appreciated his effort, and were glad not to feel completely invisible, you were incredibly grateful to get out of there. You hadn’t realized just how suffocating it had felt being in there with Shawn and Camila, but as you Connor walked the short distance back to the hotel, you could feel the weight of the day already melting off of you.
It likely helped that Connor was once again doing a great job of distracting you. As usual he had his camera up, and while you weren’t someone that loved being in front of the camera, he was actually making it sort of fun as he had you strut your stuff and pose, which of course had the two of you cracking up and laughing the entire way back.
“Thanks for saving me again,” you softly sigh after moving from your spot by his laptop and equipment as you move to throw yourself and lay on his bed after a while of having watched him edit. While you find it all incredibly fascinating, and have learned so much from him, you need a break, especially when you see some footage with Camila in it.
“It really wasn’t a problem Y/N. Plus, I like hanging out with you,” he offers as he continues to stare at his screen.
“I like hanging out with you too,” you couldn’t help but smile, truly meaning it. “Really though, I don’t know what I would do if you weren’t here,” you confess, since while you were sure the little moments with Shawn would count for something, some of the better moments had been the playful ones with Connor as he worked his magic to distract you.
“Well the feeling is mutual,” he assures you as he turned in his chair around to look at you, just in time for a knock to be heard at his door as you sit up.
“Hey Y/N” Shawn smiles, somewhat ignoring Connor who had opened the door to greet him. “Ready to go and get ready for the beach?” he asks as you nod your head.
“Thanks for keeping me company Connor,” You offer as you stand up from your spot from the bed and move to hold the offered hand that Shawn is holding out.
“Anytime. See you guys in a bit,” Connor nods and send you and Shawn out of his room with a casual wave.
“Everything okay between us?” Shawn asks as the two of you make your way to your own hotel a few doors down. You probably shouldn’t even be holding hands just in case, but since Shawn doesn’t seem to care in this moment, you don’t either as you relish in the touch of your boyfriend.
“Yeah, sorry. It just got to be a bit much, and Connor had some work to do so it worked out for the both of us,” you shrugged, doing your best to make it seem like less of a big deal than it really was.
“Sorry that you keep getting stuck with Connor,” he offered as he opened the door with his key card and the two of you moved inside.
“I wouldn’t say I’m stuck with Connor, but I’d much rather be spending my time with you, that’s for sure,” you truthfully admit as you immediately move to wrap your arms around him and he thankfully does the same.
“I’m so sorry babygirl. I would much rather be spending all my time with you too,” he confesses, making your heart jump as you melt into his arms and his embrace, especially as you feel his lips kiss the top of your head.
“I know babe,” you smile as you look up at him before standing on your tiptoes to give him a much needed kiss. It’s probably stupid, but it really is the moments like this that keep you going. When it is just you and Shawn all the bullshit melts away and it really is just the two of you against the world. It doesn’t matter that his hands were all over Camila only a short time ago since that wasn’t real. This. This in this moment is all so totally real and you can feel it.
You can feel it in the way he touches you, and the way he kisses you, especially in this moment. It doesn’t take long for the kiss to deepen as he pulls you closer and your own hand moves up and into his hair, while his moves to cup the side of your neck. You could stay like this forever, but unfortunately, life seems to have a way with messing with you as you can hear the sound of Shawn’s phone ringing.
“Damn, we probably need to start getting ready. We need to be there by three,” he sighs as he gives you an apologetic look as his hands slowly peel off of you, and as he moves to grab his ringing phone.
“Yeah, okay,” you sigh yourself, equally disappointed with the loss of contact. You suppose at least you got something today as you move to grab your bikini out of your suitcase, along with a tank top and a pair of jean shorts.
You quickly get ready as Shawn talks on the phone, likely getting the details of what all would be happening today, and what all would likely be expected. Part of you wanted to text Connor to ask if he’d want to ditch with you, but you knew that wasn’t fair of you. The people on this tour were his friends as well and he didn’t deserve to miss out because he knew you didn’t want to go.
Waiting for Shawn you take a seat on the bed and scroll through your social media, hating the pictures that are already popping up of Shawn with Camila today. You can definitely understand why there are so many people out there that believe it’s real. He definitely looks into her, especially in one particular photo of him gazing at her with his hands all twirled and mixed up in her hair.
“Ready Y/N?” Shawn asks, thankfully catching your attention and bringing it away from where it had just been.
“Oh, uh yeah. I’m ready,” you convincingly lie as you stand up. However, you are soon caught off guard as he helps you up from the bed and pulls you into him once more.
“I love you so much Y/N. Please don’t forget that,” he softly pleads as he gazes into yours eyes.
“I won’t,” you assure him, even if at times you have been finding it harder and harder to remember. Obviously you know he does, but it’s those damn pictures and moments with Camila that mess with you.
“Promise?” he asks, looking so damn sweet and insecure in this moment. It’s for reasons like these that you love him so much, but also why you do your best to protect him. It doesn’t matter that you are the one hurting having to watch him with somebody else. What matters is making him happy, and it is for that reason that you nod your head.
“I promise,” you firmly declare as you move to press your lips against his, as he convincingly kisses you back. You know this has to be a short kiss since others are likely waiting for you, but it’s enough to remind you what you are doing all of this for.
However, after pulling away, and not holding his hand as you make your way from the room to the lobby you can’t help but wonder if you shouldn’t be promising something like that. Obviously you love Shawn more than anything, but you can already tell this beach day is going to be absolutely miserable, especially as Shawn heads straight for Camila.
The only thing keeping you from turning right back around and changing into your pajamas and ordering room service to stuff your face with the fattiest junk food possible is spotting Connor as he sends you a wave. Somehow, another true genuine smile once again graces your features as he looks at you with a goofy, yet adorable boyish grin.
“Ready for this?” Connor asks as you move to stand next to him as you all wait to catch your rides.
“Not really, but I don’t think I really have much of a choice,” you shrug as you do your best to put on a brave face.
“Well don’t worry Y/N, you have me,” he encourages as he grabs your hand for a quick second and gives it a small squeeze before letting go and nodding his head toward the SUV that had pulled up to take you and a few others to the beach.
“Oh, uh yeah. Thanks Con,” you smile, somewhat surprised by the quick gesture, but honestly, the support and encouragement is something you need. You know this beach trip will likely go down as the worst and most miserable beach trip you have ever taken, but somehow the idea of at least having Connor by your side makes it feel like somehow, this will all be bearable.
Prologue Part 2
- - - - - -
"Please, please? I am the one asking, come and join us before Toronto." Shawn said on the call for the 5th time.
"Shawn, I still have to finish with the kids, I promised them I would read a new story," Anne explained. It's not that she wanted to miss Shaw n's first Stadium, but she had compromised herself already way before the concert was scheduled.
"Come after? Please. Connor will be so happy to see you, he is dying to see you, all he talks about is you the entire day. He is even annoying everyone" He said, trying to convince her one more time, she murmured something inaudible before finally agreeing.
"Fine. I will read to the kids in the morning, and I will catch a plane and be after that," She stated. It was not far, it was a 2-hour flight she could make it.
"YES! I knew you would come. Come on I need my best friend, right?" She smiled at that she was so happy for him. But they had disconnected so much in the last month that she wasn't even sure that he wanted her there until now.
"I thought that was Camila now?" She said, teasing him a little.
"Come on, she is my girlfriend. Friend position is all yours Annie," He said, making her laugh. She was not sure about that, but she didn't say anything.
"All right, Shawnie. Let's do Rogers Stadium then" She said with an excited voice. "By the way, how are you two guys doing?" She asked, after all, it had been almost a month since they talked. Actually the last time they honestly talked was before he asked Camila to be his girlfriend. After that, Anne was forgotten. For Anne that did not make sense at all, because when she and Connor Started dating she didn't just stop interacting with her best friend, she still texted him every day and called him at least 3 times a week. But once Shawn started dating, he stopped answering her at all, Anne tried. She kept sending him good morning messages for 2 weeks, but after that, she just decided she was fooling herself.
"We are fine, she really wants to meet you," He said, and Anne made a confused face.
"Really?" She asked, doubting that Camila really wanted that.
"Yeah... Don't you want to finally really talk to her?" He asked. And it's not that Anne didn't want to, you see she did. Since the beginning but he just kind of disappeared from her life. Everything she knew about him was what Connor was telling her. She was very sad in the beginning, because Shawn and her here really close friends, and he would be the person she would go when she and Connor had a fight, or when she wanted to ask an opinion about something she didn't want Connor to know just yet, because it would be a surprise for him. And all of a sudden she was left alone, Anne never really told Connor what was going on afraid that he would snap at Shawn because he being was a stupid friend with her, so she suffered by her own. The only thing Connor noticed was that she was talking with him more often than usual, he didn't complain though, he loved that she was talking with him all the time. But at the same time, he couldn't wonder if something was going on that she was not telling him about. But he just let it go, he didn't want to seem like he was finding her too clingy or something like this, because he wasn't.
"Of course, I have to know the person that stole your heart," She said, sounding optimistic as always.
"I think you will be friends very quickly."
"I hope so, I have to go now, Shawn. I am sorry. Need to finish some things before I leave," She said, it was true. She still had a lot to prepare, and now even more things to do.
"It's okay, see you in four days," She smiled and said a quick Goodbye before turning off the phone.
It felt weird to receive his call. He acted like he had never stopped talking with her, but at the same time, he never noticed how she sounded uncomfortable with him. And before he would have picked that up in an instant, they knew each other since they were born. Their moms were best friends.
For Anne, it was just weird that he would do that, and she honestly was heartbroken when he started ignoring her. How could she just let him back in after all the effort she had in organizing her heart all by herself? She tried to not overthink what had just happened. And she just focused on the fact that Connor would be there, she wouldn't be alone. And he would actually flip when he sees her.
The four days passed by pretty fast, she had a lot to do and a little time for everything. Before she knew she was in an airplane to Toronto. She didn't tell Connor she was coming, Anne wanted to make a surprise, so she was nervous. Brian picked her up at the airport, and told her Shawn was sorry he couldn't come, she knew he wouldn't though because it was his big day. She and Brian had a close relationship because of Shawn, and they got closer friends in the last month, as for a matter of fact Anne was not the only friend Shawn was ditching off.
"How are you, Annie?" He asked, giving her a hug.
"I am fine Bri, excited to see Connor," She said, smiling widely.
"He is gonna flip when he sees you, he misses you so badly!" Brian said, but of course, she was well aware of that. She also missed him badly.
The drive from the airport was not long, she and Brian talked for a while about the last days, and about Alessia. Brian had a massive crush on her, but he wouldn't admit that even if someone toured him. But today Brian was a little sad, and that was noticeable, it was Alessia's last show, and he would continue touring with Shawn without her. Anne didn't mention anything, though, knowing that if he needed to talk, he would speak.
"Connor, there is someone here to see you," Brian said as soon as he put Anne in a different room.
"Can it wait? I am trying to talk with Annie now," Connor said, making Brian smile.
"Sorry, it can't." He noticed how Connor turned his eyes before standing up from the sofa and waking out with him.
"Fine, let's go."
They went to another room backstage, where Connor was using to edit some videos earlier that day. Brian thought about that room because it wouldn't raise any suspicious thoughts in Connor's mind, he would just think he would have to edit something more.
As soon as Connor entered the room, Brian closed the door, locking him inside. Anne has the spare key to open the door later.
"Hey, What the hell Brian you can't just prank me and lock..." Connor started to say but stopped as soon as he felt someone's arms hugging him from behind.
"Hi," Anne said, making him smile instantly.
"Anne!" He turned around, kissing her deeply, exploring each inch of her mouth for more than 4 minutes straight. "You are here?" He asked, rhetorically. "You are really here!" He said starting to kiss her all over her face which makes her giggle. "I missed you so fucking much" Connor stated hugging his girlfriend tight, a little bit too tight.
"Con, I have to breathe," She said, making him let go of the embrace.
"Sorry, I just missed you too much," He said, kissing her lips one more time.
"I missed you too," She said, kissing his nose. "I love you, Blue Eyes."
"I love you too Cuddle Bug," He said kissing her cheek. "So, so, so much," He said, kissing her in multiple places at every word.
He walked with her to the sofa in the room and laid down with her on top of him.
"Can we just snuggle the entire day here?" He asked, playing with her hair and kissing her neck.
"I think they will want you to record Shaw n's first stadium concert" She remembered him, and he shrugged.
"I don't wanna go," He said pouting and making her smile before she could kiss the pout away.
"You have to though, otherwise Shawn will fire you and then it will be me without you on tour." She said teasingly, making him laugh softly.
"No! That would be horrible!" He said, smiling at her and joining their foreheads before he brushed his nose in hers. "We really have to go, right?" He asked, and she pouted but nodded.
"Sorry, Bub." He kisses her one more time before standing up.
"It's not your fault, Baby. Let's go, yeah?" She nodded, grabbing the hand he offered her and walking away with him.
"Hello blondies," Shawn said as soon as he saw the couple entering his backstage room. "Have you already got enough of yourselves?" He asked, smiling. And Connor instinctively hugged Anne from behind and put a kiss on the back of her head before answering his friend comment.
"Never get enough of her, but guess what... I have to film you, Shawn," He said, turning his attention to Shawn again.
"Can you film Mila a little, She is in soundcheck. I wanna talk to my friend too!" Shawn said.
"Is she really singing today?" Connor asked.
"Yeah. Alessia will do 2 songs less so she can have time for 2 of her new songs, I told you this morning remember?" Shawn said and observed how Connor just nodded and left the room after kissing Anne on the cheek on more time.
Shawn then looked at Anne's face, and he could tell that she was thinking about what he had said before. "What are you thinking?" He asked, turning to her, she bit her lip, insecure about saying something. Shawn noticed that, and he was confused. She was always honest with him, and now she was afraid of saying something. "Come on, spill it out," He said coming to give her a hug and looking inside her eyes.
She sighed before giving him the answer he asked for.
"I don't think your fandom will like if she sings alone," Anne said, looking at the ground. She didn't want to fight with him, at the same time, she wanted to scream at his face about how he could just act normally after not speaking with her over a month.
"You really think that?" He asked, hurt in his voice.
"Shawn it's nothing against her, it's just… It's your time to shine. If you want her to sing with you, that's fine. But those people are here for you," She explained, and he started to understand. "Think about Alessia too! Are you really just going to cut her time from 2 songs in her last concert? Even when everyone is also here for her?" She asked, and she saw a sudden realization hitting his face after she threw the facts at him.
"You are right," He said, thinking about Alessia, and how she was feeling about all of that. He never really talked with her explaining his reasons, he just told her she would sing two songs less today. "Fuck, Camila asked me, and I said yes. I never thought about my fans when I did it. Or about Alessia, Shit!" He nervously passed his hands in his hair.
"I am sorry, Shawn," Anne said, patting his back gently.
"No, I mean. Thank you, for seeing the big picture always," Shawn said, trying to think a way of fixing the problem, after all, he was a fixer. "I will talk to her, she will understand right?" He asked, referring to Camila. And the truth was Anne had no idea if she would, but she decided to give Camila the benefit of the doubt when she said yes.
"Of course," Anne said, with a tone of encouragement. "I will go with you and see how Connor is doing, do you want me to tell Alessia?" She asked, trying to help, she was a helper. Always.
"It's okay, I will tell her. I fucked up, I will fix it," Shawn said, waking out in the direction of the stage with his friend by his side. When they arrived, Connor seemed a little stressed with Camila, but Anne could say he was trying to keep it cool and doing what she asked.
"Hi guys," Shawn said, interrupting their best angle discussion. All of a sudden Camila was a photography expert and knew a better angle than Connor did. "Mila I need to talk with you," Shawn asked, biting his lips nervously. He looked at Anne for a second, and she had her reassurance look on, which helped him.
"Now? I am in the middle of soundcheck," Shawn nodded.
"Sorry, it has to be now. Please come with me?" He asked, and she nodded accompanying him inside.
"What's going on between them?" Connor asked, kissing his girlfriend cheek after Shawn and Camila left the stage.
"Shawn forgot that his fans didn't come here to see Camila singing her songs," Anne said. "And also that Alessia has feelings."
"Oh," Connor frowned.
"What?" Anne's asked.
"She makes him weird," Connor said.
"What do you mean?" Anne asked, turning around but letting him keep his hands on her back.
"Remember when I told you I wanted to come back because things were weird around here?" Anne nodded, remembering the conversation they had a few days before. "Camila makes them weird, she makes Shaw n's judgment weird to be more exact." He explained.
"Elaborate," Anne asked, still a little confused.
"She is not good for him, Anne, but he won't listen because he is madly in love with her. Or more like blind in love." Connor said, turning his eyes. "He never consulted Alessia about she not singing 2 songs today, he just told her. She was very sad, and come on it's her last concert today." He completed.
"Has Camila done anything apart from that? I mean not that this is not enough, because honestly if I hadn't said something he wouldn't go back on what he did." Connor nodded well knowing that he definitely wouldn't, mainly because Brian talked with him after he announced the changes and he just snapped back at him this morning.
"Tons of things, she says stuff, and sometimes she does things that are not nice at all. She accidentally deleted Shawn and Alessia's video that we were recording for months, it was an excellent video. I spent days editing. It was her goodbye from the tour, together with her best moments being here. She and Shawn were speaking in the end about how they grew up together in this process and about their friendship. Anyway, she managed to 'accidentally' access my computer and delete not only all the videos from the computer but also from my external hard drive." He said and sighed clearly frustrated with what he had just told.
"What the fuck?" Anne looked into his eyes, and she knew he was still pissed with that. She was also after hearing it.
"I was pissed, I am still. We spent days looking for what the hell happened, I thought I had done something wrong. I am sorry I didn't tell you this before, it was that week you were without internet access in Africa." He explained knowing that the thought had passed in Anne's mind.
"It's okay Bub, but did she just came forward in the end?" She asked, confused by the story.
"Of course, she didn't. She told Shawn in private, and according to him, she was extremely upset that this happened. But come on Annie, there is no way you accidentally delete almost one hundred files of edited footage from 2 different places at once" He said passing his hands furiously in his hair and taking a deep breath.
"And he just believed in her?" Anne asked, caressing his cheeks trying to soothe him, knowing that he was not over that yet.
"Yes, and after that, I just wanted to go home. Honestly, I still have to swallow that. Shawn didn't even consider how disrespectful he was with my work and with Alessia." He said, trying to focus on her hands that were now in his hair, and trying to calm his heart down again.
"I am so sorry Hon," She said, hugging him and putting a kiss on his neck. "Did you try talking with him?"
"I did, but he just snapped at me and... he fucking told me that if I don't like Camila, I would have to at least accept that she is here and be polite with her," Connor said, his voice filled with tears. She noticed that she also noticed that he took some more deep breaths so he wouldn't cry.
"Did he really?" Anne asked.
"Yes," Connor said and stayed quiet for a while before he opened his eyes again to look at his girl. That all of a sudden was also quiet. She was sad, both because Connor was sad and because Shawn was suddenly the douchebag she never thought he would be. "Are you okay Boo?" He asked, picking up at how she was spacing out.
"I just never thought my best friend could change like that." She said. Still not mentioning the fact that Shawn had distanced himself from her. She would, but she knew that Connor was pissed enough at that moment, and she also knew that despite everything today was a big day.
"I know, I am so sorry Annie," He said, hugging her tight for a while.
"It's not your fault, it's not your fault at all." He nodded, knowing she was right.
"I thought you knew some of this stuff, didn't he tell you anything?" Anne shakes her head, trying to avoid that sort of conversation for now.
"Do you really think I wouldn't talk to you if he had?" She asked, and Connor sighed because, of course, she would. She would even have gone there to hug him.
"I know you would, it's just like. You guys talk a lot..." He said, and he noticed how she suddenly was avoiding his eyes. "Right?"
"Let's talk this one later, okay?" She asked politely.
"Baby, it's something going on?" He asked, grabbing her head and making her look at his eyes, worried.
"I..."
"Connor, we need you," Brian said, walking to the couple. "Sorry did I interrupted something?" He asked, and Connor raised his eyebrows as for asking her same question.
"It's okay Con, we will talk later." She said one more time, and he nodded.
"I love you, don't forget that." He said in her ear just for her to hear.
"I love you too." She said, kissing his cheek and making him smile. "Now go film the rockstar" She smiled, and he nodded smiling back at her leaving with Brian.
She sited near the instruments and looked around the stage for a while. This would definitely be a big day. More than 50 thousand people were insane to even imagine. She smiled, thinking back when Shawn first started and how nervous he was about singing in front of 1000 people for the first time.
"Hi! Anne, right?" Camila asked, taking her out of her deep thoughts and making her stand up smiling and moving her hand to be able to shake Camila's.
"Yes, nice to..." She started, but Camila interrupted her before she could even think about finishing.
"Drop it, I didn't want you here. And I still don't. For me, you can go back home already, especially after convincing Shawn to take out my songs from the concert." She said, and Anne dropped her hand on the side of her body. Knowing that Camila would probably slap her hand instead of friendly shaking it.
"Camila I..." She tried, she wanted to explain herself. She would try to talk to her and understand her. Anne liked to see the best in people always, and she would give Camila the chance to show her best to her. But Camila had other plans in mind.
"I am not done." She said, making Anne quiet waiting for her to finish, "I don't care that everyone loves you on this team. Or that Shawn loves you as his friend. He will change his mind and send you home. But guess what? I am his girlfriend. And he listens to me." She said, pointing a finger into Anne's face, "And don't give a shit for how good you seem to be, you are messing with the wrong person. I could easily say something that would ruin your reputation enough so you wouldn't be able to get into any of the universities you applied for next year. Even with your extraordinary curriculum." She said, threatening her. "I don't even know what Connor is doing with someone like you in the first place, you are so boring, maybe he will figure that out soon enough. I have some friends that could help him figure that out even faster. They are prettier, smarter, and funnier than you." She completed making Anne take a deep breath with her words. "Stay away from Shawn. Are we clear?"
Night talks (Connor x Anne)
Tumblr media
I think everyone must love my insomnia by now hahahahaha
PS. Again sorry for any mistakes, almost 4am now :(
Enjoy this :)
Part 2 to Blue eyes' Girl  Word Count: 2,629 Prologue Part 1
- - - - - - -
"You are quiet the entire night, is something going on?" Connor asked, hugging Anne from her back and planting a kiss on her head.
They were currently in a no-phone party. Yes, that is right. Shawn wanted to have an afterparty for his first stadium show, and he decided that the best would be a no-phone party. Everyone had to handle their phones at the entrance. He basically wanted some privacy with his friends and family. Without having videos all around the internet to worry the next day.
"Everything is fine," Anne said, but she looked tensed up. And Connor knew his girl enough to know something was not okay.
"Baby, I know you. I know you are not okay." He whispered in her ear. "It's okay if you don't want to talk about it now." He said, turning her around to look in her eyes and let her know he meant that.
"Can we talk somewhere else?" She asked, knowing that she would probably cry, and she didn't want to. Especially in the middle of a party to celebrate something.
"Yeah, come here" He grabbed her hand and started to leave.
"We don't have to leave the party now if you want to stay more." She said, remembering herself that just because she was feeling bad after the things Camila threw at her face, it did not mean that Connor felt that way too.
"Baby, I am not staying here knowing that you are not okay and that you need to talk." He tried to reason with her. "And I miss you, there is no point in me staying here and you going back to our room alone and sad." He said. "Unless you need to be alone for a while, I understand that."
"No, that's the last thing I want now."
"Can we go then?" He asked, and she nodded.
She stayed in silence the entire time they walked to their room, biting her lips at some point, trying to organize her thoughts enough in her head. Connor was looking at her pretty worried, but she didn't even notice and tried to pretend nothing was happening.
"Tell me, Pretty," he asked as soon as he sits on their bed with her. "Please?"
"I think I want to go home," She said, looking down. They were supposed to stay with everyone for 2 more days before they went back home.
"What? But why?" He asked, lifting her chin so she would look at him again.
"Connor, I don't know if I should tell this to you today. It's just... today is really not supposed to be about me. And we were so much time away, and…"
"Shh… Baby, look at me." He asked and waited until she had her total attention on him. "You need to talk, and I am here to listen. You can't really choose an exact day to be sad, so you won't catch anyone doing anything on that day. It doesn't work like that." He said calmly.
"But I…"
"It's okay, Annie, it's okay to be sad today, you can talk to me." She closed her eyes and took some deep breaths before starting to talk about what had been in her mind for months.
"I haven't been really talking with Shawn." She said while playing with his fingers.
"Did you guys had a fight or something?" Connor asked, not wanting to say anything about why she hadn't talked before about that with him.
She stopped and looked back in her mind, imagining all the times they had talked and one more time analyzing every single thing she had said to him, and she couldn't find a fight.
"No, he just disappeared." She said, clearly still sad with all that. Connor could easily pick up when she was upset.
"What do you mean?" He asked, taking his hand and bringing it to her face, and he slowly started caressing her face, stopping in his favorite parts sometimes.
"He stopped talking with me, Con. I don't know exactly what I did wrong. But he just never replied anymore." She said, focusing on the patterns of his fingers, and feeling calmer than she was before.
"Baby, how long has this thing been going on?" He asked, stopping and making her open her eyes to look in his again.
"Since the day he asked her," She said, making him frown.
"But that's like almost 3 months ago, Sweetheart." He said, pulling her into a hug, as he felt that she needed one.
"I know. I am sorry I didn't want to worry you." She said, closing her eyes and trying very hard to not cry.
"Annie, it's not your fault," Connor remembered her, knowing that she was putting it all in herself.
"It has happened before you know, just never thought it would with him. He is my best friend." She said, breaking his heart a little, they were very close. They never had anything between them, but she was like a second sister to Shawn since forever.
"I am so sorry, Hon." He said, laying down with her and wrapping her around him tightly.
"How can I just believe is not my fault, I don't…" She started her eyes filling with tears.
"Hey, we talked about this before, remember?" He looked at her. "You are good enough, Shawn is just an idiot." He said, whipping out her tears that silently came down her face. "Were you sad like this for this entire time?"
"Not all of it, it took me some time to figure things out again, though. I mean, I like making new friends, but my constant traveling was not helping."
"That's why you started talking with me more?" He gently asked he didn't want her to think he minded that. He really didn't, he loved talking with her, but of course, Connor understood that she also had more people to talk to so he couldn't be selfish and want her all for himself. But the past months, that was precisely what was happening. And in the begging he thought she was just missing him too much, but then he could pick up at sometimes she would just drift off ar all of a sudden she seemed sad and would present to have to do something so they would turn off and never talk about it because when he would call again she had her pretty smile back on.
"I was feeling a little bit lonely." She confessed. It was the first time she actually saying it out loud. She was feeling that way because she spent the last months traveling around Africa with different people every week, unable to make secure connections to anyone. And she missed her friends, it was not just Shawn who had just disappeared. Her other 2 girlfriends were also traveling around Africa, but they met once or twice since they were always in opposite directions. And of course the internet was terrible some days, she even spent a week without any contact with anyone, that was probably the worst. She was a very focused person, and she loved what she was doing, but inside she was feeling sadder every day a little bit more. When she decided to go on this journey of volunteering and helping people, she had friends, a boyfriend, and a bed to sleep on every day. And then she picked herself with only her amazing boyfriend that was also traveling and filming the world. She couldn't just throw everything on him because she knew he would come to her and probably finish traveling around Africa with her taking photos of the kids. But she couldn't do this with him, so she just didn't talk about it at all.
"Baby, please never keep something like that from me again." He asked, holding her as close as he possibly could, "I don't want you sad all by yourself."
"Connor, it's all my fault," She said and sniffed afterward.
"It's not your fault Anne, you did nothing wrong, okay? He is weird with everyone after her. Did you even see the video they posted? Do you really think that is the type of video he would ever publish?" He asked, but she had her eyes closed and was biting her lips so hard he thought she would cut them, "Are you listening to me? It's not your fault." He said, gently caressing her lips so she would stop bitting them. "Tell me," He asked, making her open the eyes, "Come on... Tell me it's not your fault?" He said, kissing the top of her head.
"It's not my fault," She said after a while, and he nodded.
"Exactly." He took a deep breath, "Is that why you want to go home? You think you are bothering him?" He knew her too much for her own sake, and he needed her to talk with him.
"Partly"
"What's the other half?" He asked slowly, meddling his words to he wouldn't shut her off.
"Camila doesn't want me here, and I don't want to test it out what she is going to do for me to leave." At that, he frowned and started playing with her fingers.
"Did she say anything to you?" He asked, still keeping the calm tone he knew she needed.
"She threatened me, or I think she did."
"What?!" He asked untangling himself from her and placing his arms on both of her sides staying on top, his eyes scanned her body for something that could alert him, but he didn't find anything there. "Are you okay?" He asked calmly again.
"I am fine. She told me some things she didn't do anything," Anne said, didn't want him to worry that much.
"Tell me, what did she tell you, please?" He asked, brushing her nose in his before laying down and putting her close again.
"She said she doesn't understand why you are with me, and…"
"Baby..."
"Wait, she also said that she can ruin my reputation in seconds and make sure no university ever accepts me and that she is Shawn's girl, and he would listen only to her." She finished, and Connor couldn't believe his girlfriend's words. He couldn't believe someone would just act so childish as Camila had, and over nothing.
"Annie, I... I don't even know what to say."
"She is just pissed that I advised Shawn. It was nothing against her when I did it, though." Anne said, trying to explain herself, even though she had done nothing wrong.
"That doesn't give her the right to tell you those things An…" He said, still trying to be calm for her. He also changed positions again and put a kiss on her lips, "And by the way…" He kissed her cheek." I am with you because I love you." He then put a kiss on her neck, which made her smile. "And no one will change that, ever. Do you hear me?" He asked, planting little kisses all over until she had a full smile on her face and nodded. "Good," He said, smiling himself. "I think we should talk with Shawn about it," He proposed, now playing with her hair falling on the pillow.
"I don't think he will listen." She said, closing her eyes and focusing on Connor loving on her. He noticed that and kept himself silence for a moment, smelling her hair and her neck for a few seconds.
"Baby, I am not going to let her speak lies about you and just don't do anything about it." He said, stopping his movements for a second and looking at her eyes again.
"Connor, it's okay. I am sorry, I am just overthinking it and…" He put his finger on her mouth to shush her.
"No!" He said and gave her a little kiss on her lips. "No, Baby girl, you are not overthinking anything." He said, and she moved her gaze off of him and looked at the ceiling. "Hey, hey, look at me." He asked gently. "You are not." He reassured her. Anne was very sensitive, and at the same time that made her the most empathetic person in the world, it also made her blame herself for things that were not really her fault sometimes.
"Can we forget this, just this once?" She asked as he laid down one more time, putting her so attached to him that they could almost fuse in one.
"Princess, you came to me telling me you wanna go home. And now you are asking me to forget everything? Anne, help me out here." He said, making her chuckle.
"I am sorry I shouldn't have said anything. I needed to share with someone, I guess." She said, and he smiled at his unbelievable girlfriend, still trying to get the best out of a situation that was affecting her severely.
"Love, you shared something with your boyfriend. Something that is harming you and making you insecure about it. Please don't apologize for that, never apologize for talking with me. Because there is nothing, I want more than you sharing things like this with me." He said. "I love you," He said, brushing his lips on hers and going in for a slow kiss, exploring every inch of her mouth he was missing so much and pecking her lips on more time once they finish just to make sure she would smile.
"I love you too," She said, leaning in and giving him another peck making him smile this time.
They kept silence for some time, appreciating each other's company. The thing is they really missed each other on top of everything that was happening.
"What do you want to do? I am with you, okay? If you want to go home and never come back, let's go home." Connor said as if it was a straightforward matter.
"Connor, you can't just leave, you are filming his documentary!" Anne said, remembering why they were there in the first place, "I am the irrelevant person here, and if I am already causing problems I want to go. He is my best friend, even if I don't mean anything to him anymore. For me, it doesn't work like this that I can clap my fingers and forget that Shawn exists. And he needs you Con, and you love what you do. And I can't do that with you, I can't just ask you to go home. Loving you means be rooting for your dreams, and not crush them." She said, making him smile at the end. She was not crushing anything at all, and he never thought of it that way.
"Baby I"
"Wait. I agreed to love you, and your camera comes with you. And if we need to have a distance relationship for a while, it's okay. We can do it. What I can't do it is making you come home knowing that you will be missing doing the thing you love the most."
"Anne, I love you the most. And I know you would never ask me that princess." He paused and took a deep breath, "I just don't know if I am happy here anymore, I am now that you are here. But things changed a lot. I miss the old Shawn, we all do." He explained, and she nodded.
"Can we talk about this tomorrow?" She asked, feeling tired from everything.
"Yeah, sure." He said, letting her go so they could both brush their teeth and change into pajamas.
"I missed you," She said once they lay back in bed, him spooning her.
"I missed you too, Love, a bunch." He said, positioning his nose on the crook of her neck so he could be as close as possible.
