[Survey] Content Management on Archive of Our Own

Carol Zhang, a second year Masters of Digital Arts and Humanities student at the University of British Columbia Okanagan is doing research on Archive of Our Own under the supervision of Dr. Jonathan Cinnamon. This research is specifically examining how users interact with the archive’s tagging system and how their wider Internet usage could impact that. Part of this research is the survey - available on this link - for which Zhang is looking for participants.

The survey is anonymous and it takes 10-15 minutes to fill out. It will be available on the above link until January 20th. Participants must be at least 18 years old. More information about how the responses will be stored can be found in the consent form and if you have any further questions, you can contact Carol Zhang at the email address zcarol@mail.ubc.ca.

The results of the research will be available through the university’s thesis archive, cIRcle.

If you are interested in talking about content management tools and your experience navigating the archive and you are eligible, consider contributing to the research by filling out the survey.

I can’t take criticism on Mel seriously because most of it is done by jayviks who say she’s pretty and call it a day then act like they love her😭. They talked and then he left and fucking died lol, one important thing to remember is that these are CHARACTERS and there is writing behind them. What I’m saying is that they were handled poorly by the writers and they never actually “broke up” or should I say he never “dumped her🤓” they just.. had a thoughtful conversation and it was never brought up again. I feel like yall only say he “dumped her” so it fits the shitty narrative that Jayce dumped Mel for Viktor which is NOT true and literally never will be. You guys literally call her an “independent black woman who doesn’t need a man” except in different wording to make her seem unlovable. Yes, she doesn’t need a man but she WANTS a man. Stop acting like you actually want her to be independent, you just want to get her out of the way but also still seem like you’re an “”ally””.

Hey y’all! I’m making this post because a content creator that means a lot to me has been struggling in the stats department. This is Mithzan (Max), he’s a general gaming YouTuber that got his start as an editor during the Minecraft boom in the early-mid 2010s. Recently his numbers haven’t been great since YouTube’s algorithm has been truly fucking him over. The guy is super funny and has great content, so I recommend checking him out and sharing this post to try and get more people to follow and watch his stuff!

I've enjoyed jumping back into buckynat since I saw Thunderbolts* (thank GOD they're back together in the comics), but it also just reminds me how bitter I felt about how they treated Nat and all the missed opportunities to incorporate buckynat into those movies

But even more than the regret at the missed chances...the thing that really eats me up now is I feel like they could still pull off a Nat return from the soul stone fuckery and incorporate buckynat within the current narrative if they really, really wanted to. It happened AGAIN: a Facebook page with 83,000+ followers, "Attire's Mind," ripped off the content of one of my dress history posts.

Compare my 1840s readymade men's wear post with the inferior copy (that omits sources and links).

Today it was the Paris Musées redingote post. Notice how "Attire's Mind" uses my image edits (again), and also eliminates my citation while loosely copying the text.

If you are blogging about dress history here, especially if you are a small and obscure blog like yours truly, check "Attire's Mind" for stolen content.

It is particularly aggravating since he is clearly going the James Somerton route with this: stealing the work of passionate but little-known creatives, and making an inferior version that incidentally removes citations.

Some tips to protect more your creations on tumblr

Go to your blog settings and scroll down. Activate these options in your account.

✓ Hide [your blog name] from people without an account

✦ Your blog and posts will not be recommended to others, will be excluded from Tumblr search results, and the in-blog search function will be disabled for everyone, including you.

✦ People without an account won't be able to see your creations.

✦ The gifs will also be in WebP format, which makes it harder to save and republish.

✓ Discourage external searching of [your blog name]

✦ External search engines like Google or Yahoo will be discouraged from indexing your blog and showing it in search results. It is ultimately up to them to honor your request.

✦ This second option ensures that your gifs are not shared (smaller) on image search engines when someone searches for gifs from a particular fandom.

★ You can add this to your theme if you use one. Here the code. You need to add it under <head> in your theme.
