Well there's the question of rent.

Of course, of course, when Alexander first moved into the apartment, it was very much the first place he scrounged up. A place that was his, for the first time on his own, following an ad in a paper he just barely managed to read. Or was it signposted, written in paint?

He met with someone about the apartment, didn't he? He must have.

So of course, he paid the minimal rent that such a locale required, dropped off at a location he supposedly remembers. For a time. But when one gets caught up in the horros that searching for a diamond can bring, it can lead one to spending many weeks at Zee, and even further passed that. It was no question that payment might slip aside.

But then. Nothing came of it. After Alex returned and the months went by, no question of requiring rent came. And Alex wasn't about to go asking, no. A shrug of the shoulders and a continuing on with the day when it suddenly occurs to Alex how long it has been since rent had last been noted.

If nobody shows, why is he to care? Odd, though.

so, so much of what’s going on in tbh&c and the car, both musically, lyrically and thematically can be traced back to this album (or even tatou if u poke deeper). like how did ppl listen to eycte and then get shocked when alex put out something like tbh&c; if you’d been paying attention you would have known where’s it coming from. it’s such an important album in alex’s personal discography and marks a huge turning point in his evolution as a songwriter. i will also go far as to any analysis of the arctic monkey’s musical evolution is incomplete without talking about eycte. but so many ppl, i see, often just write it off as as “fun side project alex did during his break” OPEN YOUR EYES Y’ALL
