Ansev Demirhan at Ms. Magazine:
The anti-feminist Independent Women’s Voice/Forum (IWF/V) has officially launched its 2024 election agenda. An internal fundraising document provided to True North Research shows one way it is putting that agenda into action is by continuing to try and blunt the horrific repercussions of the Supreme Court overturning Roe, while deploying their veneer of independence to sway centrist and independent voters. The document details a two-phase plan and a budget that is almost twice the amount it proposed in its 2022 midterm fundraising documents, as reported by The Washington Post. Despite claiming to take no position on abortion, IWF/V launched a PR campaign ahead of the 2022 midterms—the first election cycle following the Dobbs decision—which included advertising trying to convince younger women that reproductive rights were less important than other issues the group listed.
One way IWF/V’s agenda for this election cycle stands out from its previous midterm action plan is its emphasis on reassuring women that access to contraception is not in jeopardy—despite key voices in the anti-abortion movement making it clear otherwise. The group is a member of Project 2025, a MAGA blueprint that includes detailed plans to attack contraception access, promote the rhythm method, deploy the CDC to increase “abortion surveillance” and data collection and much more. IWF/V also has a long history of undermining contraception access, though the group has a talking point about supporting over-the-counter availability of the contraception pill.
IWF/V’s “Hope Agenda”
Independent Women’s Forum (IWF), a 501(c)(3), and its 501(c)(4) the Independent Women’s Voice (IWV), are pay-to-play groups that use their “independent” branding to laud right-wing politicians along with the legislative wish lists of some for-profit corporations, such as Juul. Based on its most recent tax filings, the groups reported a combined $8.1 million in revenue. IWF/V has received money from the Koch network, Leonard Leo’s network and funds from secretive donor-advised funds, like the Bradley Impact Fund, the National Christian Charitable Foundation and DonorsTrust.
[...]
But Americans are intimately familiar with the political reality of abortion access in this country.
The majority of states have abortion restrictions or bans in place that make it difficult for pregnant Americans to receive essential healthcare.
The U.S. Supreme Court continues to be deployed as a tool to potentially limit abortion access nationally (in the mifepristone and EMTALA cases).
Over 64,000 unwanted pregnancies have been caused by rape in states with total abortion bans that were implemented post-Roe.
Abortions increased in 2023, the first full calendar year following the Dobbs decision, because people continue to need and seek abortions despite the fractured abortion healthcare landscape unleashed by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Americans are also faced with the political reality that the anti-abortion movement is coming for contraception. That is one reason why IWF/V honing in on messaging around birth control access as something that is safeguarded and supported by the GOP is so troubling. The group itself has a history of opposing contraception access.
[...]
Anti-trans messaging is also central to IWF/V’s plan to ‘get out the vote’ in 2024, according to its “Hope Agenda.” IWF also attacked the Right to Contraception Act, using anti-trans scaremongering to falsely suggest that this legislation would “require doctors to sterilize minors.” This is not the only anti-trans tactic the group has used to detract from the devastating impact of the overturn of Roe. IWF/V is also behind the anti-trans “model” bill the “Women’s Bill of Rights,” which enumerates no rights other than the right to discriminate against transgender people, especially transgender women. This model bill has ostensibly been used by so-called conservative or independent policymakers and groups that allegedly care more about American women, but IWF/V itself has repeatedly attacked pro-woman policies. IWF/V has opposed the Equal Rights Amendment, federal paid leave, federally subsidized child care, the Violence Against Women Act and Title IX—though it recently backed a watered-down version of VAWA and for decades it sided with men’s sports teams against Title IX spending on women’s sports until it deployed anti-trans messaging about women’s sports.
Ms. Magazine exposes the right-wing Koch/Leonard Leo-funded antifeminist group Independent Women's Forum and their sister groups Independent Women's Voice and Independent Women’s Law Center. These groups claim to be pro-women, but in reality, the policies they support-- such as anti-trans "Women's Bill of Rights" and attacks on abortion access, contraception, and in vitro fertilization-- are harmful to women.

Star Trek: The Next Generation, 107 (Nov. 7, 1987) - "Justice"
Written by: Worley Thorne Directed by: James L. Conway
The Breakdown
The Enterprise visits a planet where all the inhabitants love to FUCK, and there is also no crime, so obviously this is going to be a smooth trip with no foreseeable problems. All the same, protocols demand that Riker check things out with a small team, just to make sure there are no surprises that would lead to a contrived dilemma. Since the risks are SO low, Picard permits Wesley to join Riker to see if the orgy planet “is also suitable for children”, which definitely doesn’t sound problematic at all. Surprisingly there is trouble of a NON-sex related kind, unsurprisingly Wesley is the source of that trouble. We find out the reason crime has been eradicated is because the penalty for even the smallest crime is death, including (for example) accidentally tripping and smashing a greenhouse, which is exactly what Wesley does.
Picard’s probable desire to just let Wesley die notwithstanding, he takes steps to intervene (also he wants to bone Wesley’s mom one day, and letting her kid die would likely kill the mood). The problem is, the Orgy-folk’s gods turn out to be real, albeit in the form of a super-powerful alien race, who reveal themselves with the message that the Enterprise is not to interfere with the Orgymen’s planet. As a result of this development Picard delays Wesley’s rescue until the last possible second, allegedly because he’s uncertain if saving Wesley will anger the Orgy-gods, but I think he was just procrastinating. Although at least he was able to wax philosophical for a bit, so the trip wasn’t a complete bust.
The Verdict
I had been warned about this episode on multiple occasions, and sure enough it’s pretty bad. There was a germ of an idea that had potential, but this has been our fourth space-deity/entity episode in a row, and it’s getting old. Also, FUCK OFF with the race of Horny White people. I have never seen a more obvious excuse to hire some eye candy for the studio execs who were “visiting the set, with some good friends” for a few days.
1 star (out of 5)
Additional Observations
Picard’s an ASSHOLE: Hahah! Oh boy. So Picard has been giving Crusher the cold shoulder in a major way, all as she pleads for her son’s life to be spared. Her heart has been breaking, and he waits to the LAST possible second reassure her that he “always intended to save Wesley”? He could have easily said something to that effect AGES ago. And she falls in lovewith this guy!?
Okay so I actually kinda liked the parts where Data was communicating with the God-Aliens. I enjoy the “exchange of information” angle, followed up by discussion on how to interpret such information from a higher being. But then you remember it’s all tied to the stupid Wesley-execution plot, and that stuff is all far too weak to support such grand subject matter.
This show really wants us to know that Tasha Yar has a strong sex drive. And also that men find her desirable. Just in case you wondered.

The autopsies continue
The man elected president last night is a depraved and brazen pathological liar, a shameless con man, a sociopathic criminal, a man who has no moral or social conscience, empathy, or remorse. He has no respect for the Constitution and laws he will swear to uphold, and on top of all that, he exhibits emotional and cognitive deficiencies that seem to be intensifying, and that will only make his turpitude worse. He represents everything we should aspire not to be, and everything we should teach our children not to emulate. The only hope is that he’s utterly incompetent, and even that is a double-edged sword, because his incompetence often can do as much as harm as his malevolence. His government will be filled with corrupt grifters, spiteful maniacs, and morally bankrupt sycophants, who will follow in his example and carry his directives out, because that’s who they are and want to be.

Draconic PSA: Azura Dragonfaether. Dragonkin & Draconic Wiccan Content Creator
Hello. I wanted to bring to light something happening in the draconic community with a years old major content creator who I know many dragonkin and draconic practitioners may be familiar with—Azura Dragonfaether—a beloved figure for many is proclaiming herself as the false founder of Draconic Wicca, alongside exhibiting many questionable practices in search of fame and branding, and I urge caution in approaching her content.
If you have been a draconic witch or identifying dragonkin and have explored these subjects on YouTube at all, it’s likely you have seen this face before. Creating Draconic content for over a decade at this point, Azura has cemented herself in some spaces as a rather relevant creator, however in recent years she has been turning herself into more of an influencer then any kind of teacher, most concerningly in her claims founded in grandeur.

Her content being based more in clickbait then ever, and shown to partner with known scammers for the sake of promoting her books and brand as The Draconic Priestess, if you have been observing her it is evident that her ethics have been spiraling in her search of fame, as she’s taken a very alarming step forward in claiming that she is the founder of Draconic Wicca. Her content seems to function to promote herself as a large figure more then anything as she’s branded herself as the Draconic Priestess, makes videos with title captions akin to tiktok videos that insist “this tarot reading is for you,” has many interactions she has being micromanaged by her personally hired business managers, proclaims herself as a “chosen one” in her content, has lambasted creators for their interpretations of popculture-magick while simultaneously practicing it herself, and much more.

Now I am not going to discuss the practices and controversy surrounding Wicca, as what I am most concerned with here is this egregious claim that she is the inherent founder of a major branch of draconic practices. Azura Dragonfaether did not found Draconic Wicca. There is no doubt that she has played a crucial role in its cultivation and spread over the years, however she is assuming this title in confidence when truly she has not created anything of the sort. If anybody should be credited to the creation of Draconic Wicca, it should be DJ Conway, as controversial as she is—overall this is bordering delusions of grandeur.
It should go without saying that claiming to have founded a branch of any practice is a bold one, but what she is feeding her audience here is an inherent lie. A volatile and inappropriate statement to make, Azura Dragonfaether is trying to position herself higher and higher in search of fame and notoriety. She is trying to give herself bigger titles with flashier names and more mystically targeted click baiting videos, to draw attention to herself, and present herself to others as a more powerful figurehead of the draconic community then she actually is. Meanwhile, she is perpetuating the promotion of scammers, treating other peoples practices as though her own is law, and manipulating her core audience more and more as she crafts this notion that she is a superior. The claims of being the founder of Draconic Wicca is just the next step in this. She is trying to give herself power and a title that could not be questioned, which puts her in a dangerous and questionable position where many may follow her and look up to her under the false belief that she is a great and thoroughly innocent creator. Her intentions were well for many years, but in recent times they have only turned more selfish as she has inadvertently caused harm to certain corners of the community with her influence, and I would urge you to be wary of her content when she is telling such a profoundly impactful lie.
Humility is a necessity to keep oneself grounded in reality when working any spiritual path, especially with dragons. She has turned from a teacher to an influencer, blinded by her own light in the process. She is a fraud feeding her audience dishonesty, and I advise one take great caution when approaching her or her content.
I do not expect this post to get much attention and that’s fine, but I felt it was important to have this out somewhere. Thank you for reading.

Changeling
Years ago
When I fell I love with the shake of a head
The sweep of a fringe across honey eyes
With hard edges and cutting comments
With earnestness and sincerity
Trembling, pouting lips
And everything in between
When the thought of going to bed with strangers unnerved me
I was so in love with the unwavering notion of love
I thought there must be something wrong with me
When I was 13 I had a letterbox of loves, real and imagined, made from long sighs and airy thoughts
and I would take them out, carefully, blow off the dust and cobwebs at birthdays and holidays
Dance with ghouls under the green and red and blue Christmas lights
The hazy mouldy smog of the artificial tree made my throat itch, triggered asthma attacks
A 1970s astigmatic capitalist daydream
Our reflections mirrored on baubles in the dark of Christmas Eve
And I lived there between branches
Polypropylene leaves digging into my skin
And I would whisper in their ears
Exchange love notes by the nativity scene
Who needed friends when I had
Tempero parietal epilepsy
And a rich internal life
(Autism diagnosis pending)
Sometimes I think
Whatever happened to her
To that wild, wide eyed, unsettling little changeling
The one who would watch the washing machine for hours
Hypnotised by the universes trapped in soap bubble films
They warp and change divide and split. Mitose. Evolve. Is this what it is to play god. We are closer to him in those years. Half formed clay golems with chubby, pawing fingers, muddy hair and drooling eyes.
If I were to crawl into his lap
Do you think he would hug me close like my father never did
I remember mornings
On the way to school
Stomach in knots
I remember French toast smothered in buttery creaminess. Bottled sunshine. Red berries popping on my tongue. Bursts of blood red flesh against retainers. An autumnal afternoon wrapped in a nauseous morning haze. Palms drenched in sweat.
I remember mud and dirt on knees, under fingernails. The feel of butterfly wing powder on my fingers. Digging through mud, playing with ants. I used to pluck out their legs one by one, and watch as the others tore it apart.
I remember the hypnotic lick of flames against midnight skies, paper towns and cardboard dollhouse burning to ashes in the wind. I used to imagine the screams.
Don't you think fire is so poetic. Some glitch in the matrix. As alive as a dead thing can be. Heat and light, ionised air, a chain reaction that spreads and jumps from one thing to another? Destroys in its wake. The cancer of the dead world, with its own nefarious self replicating agenda. The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, heat death made sentient. Saltatory conduction and Conway's game of life (or death)
Do you suppose with enough time it could learn to think? Do you believe if it could it would scream?
She's been locked in her cell for too long. I'm so so tired and the mask is melting.
I used to think I was good at reading people. At empathising. Now I wonder was it just her. Playing with puzzles, matching faces to appropriate responses.
I can feel her waking up, with her wide fae eyes, her long pointed ears. The better to see you with my dear. Better to quirk a head to the side and hear you with my dear. Unhinge her jaw and swallow you whole. Feel my spine crack, bones rearrange, muscles twist. The crunch of food plunging down my throat. My scales contracting around the bolus, accommodating, slithering.
They say hate and love are two sides to the same coin and I am inclined to agree. I thought I knew hate, and then you came. Like a storm that left me desolate and full of rage. I can feel the bitterness and fury sharpening itself in my gut every time I hear your voice. The blade melting, forging. The voice driving me insane. To best you, leave you in the dust. I am so so bone tired.
Sometimes I wonder
If I should love my hourglass body more
There are moments when I envy men
But never as much as now
Nothing drives my dysphoria like
Wanting to gauge out your eyes with my fingers
And fuck your empty eye sockets while you scream
Feel the supraorbital notch against my pelvis
Revel in the wet, garish squelch
I think you've gone braindead but that's alright
That's what my fingers buried in your nape are for
There is blood everywhere, god so much blood.
And here you had us all thinking you couldn't bleed
(Shut up
You all know
If I were a man
Writing about a woman
Pinning her down
Rearranging her insides
You would clap and ooh and ahh
Such a tortured soul, aching for release
Slaps on the back and salutations
"Tell us Stanley! Oh did you know since you were
a fucked up little boy pulling on Pigtails
That your self-indulgent gore pornography would revolutionise the medium of film?")
My momma used to say, clutching at her bloated belly
that she would love any baby
As long as it was happy and healthy
And! As long as it wasn't mentally...deficient. She would laugh then. How could she have a baby like that.
Some say I'm a genius mommy
I was the best in my class
But why do I feel like
I should tell you I'm sorry
I really did try
But mommy I'm so tired
I want to go to sleep
My bones are sick of trying
And the redcaps in the Earth are calling to me
They're so hungry momma
And so am I
I hope you find your real daughter mommy
Hope she has your eyes
I hope you get to love her mommy
Just not the way you loved me

Aodifhnejsidn YOU! YOU GET IT!
There is no permanent state of self! No one person can stay pure and strong willed their entire lives! It’s work! It’s effort to remain good and strong in a world that rewards little and beats those traits down!
Different comic but relevant to this conversation, “Shazam: Power of Hope” the Wizard implores Billy to take up an offer to see kids at the pediatric ward of a hospital and raise their spirits, the whole mission being the Wizards way of trying to get Billy to remind himself of being a child and having hope! Hope is a powerful thing and Billy was close to losing it!
I think that would go hand in hand in a way to being Pure of Heart, having hope and working to inspire it in others! Billy from his backstory was forced to steal if he wanted to make any money to feed or clothe himself by his scummy uncle Ebenezer, but he chose to beg instead and thus remained “Good” in a way, he never seemed to lose hope in his uncle either even when he’d betrayed him time and time again in the comics. In the short time Conway is there he has stolen, apparently multiple times, and leans more towards selfishness and greed to what his powers could do the moment he learns he has them. He isn’t pure of heart anymore because he made a choice to commit a crime for benefit (before for the benefit of survival and now in a more greed based way as an adult)
So, purity in this case like this is based on the choices a person makes, to the Wizard who defined this trait to himself in choosing a Champion being pure and good was basically always choosing the legal and morally correct option. It probably isn’t a mistake that Captain Marvel, be it for setting a good example to his readers or simply by what defines Championship, never broke a law himself. If he was banned from a town he had to turn into Billy to keep to the law, Cap kept his word and didn’t break oaths, he found legal loopholes to abide by the law. Conway broke the law, whether it was right morally for himself as a possibly homeless youth himself, and I’m going to guess kept that record up.
So, trickster hero-esque as the methods were at times, Billy never broke the law and did what was the right thing to do in his whole life. Conway did

Just started reading the 1973 Shazam series and yaaaallll…
Conway Mann is now a character I am very interested in. I don’t get the logic that just because he and Billy were born on the same day, their powers are linked. I get it if it’s Mary, but why this random kid?
But it’s Fawcett so I’ll let it slide😂
Anyway, I’m just thinking about the really interesting gimmick we have here. Imagine the JL need to, for whatever reason, look into the future. They don’t have any oracles on their team, and the magic users don’t have future seeking powers.
Billy says he has a plan and everyone is immediately on high alert because his plans usually involve weird out of this dimension logic. And this one does too.
I’m just thinking about how he would go all the way back to Fawcett, find Conway, and just hold his hand or something while he looks into the future. Their whole partnership would confused the JL so much.
And once again I am in shambles at the fact that we may never see any of Cap’s other side characters and Fawcett team ever again 🙂↕️
#I need to stop over analyzing media older than my mom#but alas I have returned#i’m back in the fucking building again#so many thoughts come from this tiny little bit of information#Maybe not perfectly alright to insist that your hero be a stickler for the law#but then again Billy and cap are recognized as separate entities so they always have that legal loophole#billy batson#shazam#dc#dc comics#shazam 1973#conway mann#dc universe

𓇼 Metaphysical philosophers, connection to the mind.
Anne Conway
Lady Anne Conway was one of the few female philosophers in the seventeenth-century and notable for her legacy in STEM. Her work consisted of the three layer hierarchy, in which she classified them as ‘species', Anne believed that although all creatures are born with a body, the spirit/soul/mind is better and has the possibility to be perfect like ‘God’. She rejects the material world and explains that suffering is a part of spiritual recovery. All creatures have the potential to be ‘perfect’, but nowhere near the perfection of ‘God’, she stated. The context of ‘God’ here can be interpreted in a different lens, it doesn’t necessarily entail religions. The context of so-called creatures are human beings limited by the laws of our Earthly realm. ‘God’ however are the ones who broke free, it is the limitless consciousness, it is the ego.

Gargi Vachaknavi
Gargi Vachaknavi is a notable Vedic scholar and daughter of sage Vachaknu, she explores the knowledge of metaphysics and what was beyond the body. Gargi explains the journey of ‘koham’ (Who AM I?) and that the inquisitive mind aids us in the revolution of finding ‘soham’ (I AM). She challenged the notions of existence by daring to ask challenging questions like, what was the ‘woven, warp and woof’? Referring to what is beyond human understanding of the world beyond the sky and earth. It is notable that Hinduism seems to be the few religions where divine knowledge can be passed to both men and women equally. Although there is sadly a lack of English source materials, Gargi’s philosophy revolves around the fundamental ontology of the world.

Plato
Plato is one of the oldest philosophers during the Classical era in Ancient Greece. He is a big believer in Dualism, separating the body and mind into two substances (the mind can live without the body even after death). His most famous theory is allegory of the cave where prisoners trapped in a cave believed that the shadows on the wall were their reality, the prisoners regarded the cave as true and nothing else outside of it exists. Eventually, one of the prisoners steps outside and is faced with true reality or enlightenment. The prisoner returned to the cave and tried to tell his peers, only to meet with hostility because everything they’ve known their entire life was false. The lesson of his allegory was the escape from ignorance, one must question every assumption they have about the reality they call ‘real’. Plato believed that reality is created by the mind.

Hypatia of Alexandria
Hypatia was a renowned astronomer, mathematician, hellenist, and philosopher in the Classical era of the Roman Empire. Most of her work did not survive through the test of time, but she was a strong believer in Neoplatonism. Neoplatonism was coined from Plato’s Platonic theory that argues that the world which we experience is only a copy of an ideal reality in which lies beyond our material world. Overall, Neoplatonists believed that happiness and prosperity can exist without an afterlife. Hypatia’s belief in Neoplatonism drove her to seek knowledge in mathematics and astronomy.

O.C. Rapid Response tried to celebrate a small win. In the course of tracking down a community member who had been arrested, using ICE’s “online detainee locator system,” the network discovered that the city of Glendale, in L.A. County, had an active federal contract to hold immigrants in its jail. The contract apparently predated the state’s 2017 sanctuary law, and was permitted as an exception. A few days after O.C. Rapid Response members and the lawyer representing the community member publicized the issue, Glendale cancelled the contract. The decision was “not politically driven,” the city said.
That meant one less way station, but the community member still ended up detained. As of this month, more than fifty-one thousand immigrants are in ICE detention, the highest number since 2019. And California’s largest private facility, the Adelanto Detention Center, owned by the GEO Group, recently resumed business, after the settlement of a class-action lawsuit over unsafe conditions during the pandemic.
