Lu Guang is a hypocrite and that’s okay (great even)

I must stand ten toes for this man because I’m noticing the slander that went on in September and I cannot allow it. I know I’m six months late but just bear with me. We are introduced to Lu Guang as a rational, stoic, sort of wise protagonist. The brains of the operation if you will (although Cheng is clever in his own right but that’s a whole other discussion). Qiao Ling and Captain Xiao describe him as more mature. Shiguang’s relationship is strong but it’s structured, especially for their work, to where Cheng has to depend on Lu Guang. Should only do as he says and not do anything impulsive.

And it gets to a point where Cheng doesn’t know what to do without him and when LG isn’t there he relies on his past words to guide him. The thing is, we’ve seen that CXS can come up with great plans and make good decisions without Lu Guang’s voice in his head. Like how he caught Min Liu or planning how save Lu Guang from Li Tianchen. But the story has built LG up so much to be a reliable character so it can’t be untrue. But then the s2 finale happens, Cheng gets shot and Lu Guang loses his mind.

And then the ending basically tells you that he’s been winging it and gambling this whole time. Experimenting with god knows how many timelines, simply using his knowledge from the previous one to see if he’ll get lucky this time. Lu Guang has been playing a crane game. So in a story that is all about mistakes, guilt and regrets. Of showing the imperfections of people. Of showing the struggles of moving forward, of being satisfied with the present. Of sacrificing your sanity, your voice, your desires, and happiness for the people you love. How is this bad writing?

Link click has been tricking the audience to believe Lu Guang is an infallible character.

But Link Click was never about perfect people.

What he’s trying to do is no different from Li Tianchen, one of our antagonists. And I love CXS to fucking pieces but this show raises the question of a life’s value. LG is trying to save Cheng and so refuses to change the past for anyone else. Bc it may alter things and doom CXS in the process and ruin all he’s worked towards. But then you ask yourself, is CXS’s life worth more than the twins' mother? Is it worth more than Chen’s mother? Is it worth more than Emma?

It doesn’t matter because it is to Lu Guang. It’s like the question if your sibling and a mailman are trapped in a burning building but you can only try to save one. Unless they’re the absolute scum of the earth, chances are and possibly even despite that, you’re going to pick your sibling. That don’t mean it’s objectively more valuable than the mailman or you didn’t have sympathy for that person, they have loved ones, hopes and joys too. “Lu Guang is a hypocrite, selfish, unreliable, and a liar” yes he is. Because there is something called ‘flawed characters’. It’s okay for your protagonist to not be the best person. It’s okay to write a protagonist whose trauma has defined some of their actions.

If you’ve been forced to have someone you love die in your arms over and over, why is it surprising that you would lie to them? How is it surprising that you’d try to keep secrets? That you’d set things up to be in a position to control the situation? That’ll force you to plan better so maybe, just maybe things will be different? You think Lu Guang lacks self awareness and doesn’t know what this makes him? Of all things you can call LG, he’s not delusional. He knows the weight of his actions.

Link Click has and always will be a story about people. Where our emotions and choices take us. Lu Guang isn’t a robot so why would he be an exception?

Plus everyone should’ve been knew Lu Guang was sus anyway. Idk how that’s mischaracterization, there’s proof of him lying and keeping secrets from CXS in s1. It doesn’t ruin anything it recontextualizes what we were shown back then.

Concept: Doof goes back to being evil in the phineas and ferb revival bc OWCA was going to lay off Perry or dock his pay OR assign him to a new nemesis far away. Doof doesn’t want perry to lose his job or have to leave Danville so he goes back to being evil to keep him there.

AND I KNOW perry is paid to keep doof in line after he turns good in MML but maybe by the time we get to the reboot doof has chilled out and doesn’t need to be supervised any longer. Plus this would not be the first time OWCA tries to relocate perry.

I'll be honest I've been so massively burnt out. I feel like all of my recent sculptures have sucked and I havent had any drive to sculpt. Making anything is a struggle. I feel a horrible guilt about it, every moment i don't spend making something to sell is a waste of money.

getting myself to focus on a drawing is also a struggle, and even when I am drawing I feel guilty that I'm not using that time making something i can sell. Not to mention the growing dread that Heartbreak Gulch will probably never become "a thing"

People tell me to take time off but I already have taken too much time off, drawing feels like a waste, and no other hobbies are bringing me any joy. Not to mention just garden variety dread, regret, and dysphoria creeping up my spine daily

CHARACTER DESIGNS:

my current designs for the main cast of episode 5 (i uncovered minecraft's greatest secret) + ken and wato because kww is awesome.. ken and wato are probably the ones who helped spoke set up the treasure hunt anyway so it's okay they're allowed to be in the lineup.

tbh i've only done characters from episode 5 because it's my favourite episode + a fun plot to rewrite into a high school setting. i'd add more (namely mane and flame) if i were to actually continue to make a story with this au..

UNIFORMS:

me thinks unstable high deserves to have a uniform rather than just a dress code of some sort.. no real reason besides aesthetics LMAOOOO, i guess unstable high is a private school??. rules are loose enough for self expression but like it's still a requirement.

i more or less have the story outlined btw!! my attempts at rewriting the biggest secret episode in a high school setting is kindaaa working?.. my biggest issue atm is deciding whether if i want to write a fanfic or draw a comic..... i love drawing these and their fun designs guys but holy crap comics are so much work, but i've also never really written a fic before ;; oh well i'll figure it out at some point.

Thinking about how Nagito's actively acknowledging if he says something weird he might be hated, so he suppresses "weird" thoughts but doesn't suppress his rambles so when he does ramble he either isn't being self aware, is having a mental breakdown, or sees nothing wrong with it (trick question it's all 3 depending on the situation)

HotD presents two individuals who suffer at the hand of the same patriarchal system set to make them suffer when they rebel (Rhaenyra) AND when they're complacent (Alicent). That is the central issue and the tragedy of Alicent's unjust & now hypocritical vitriol towards Rhaenyra.

"Rhaenyra the entitled whore, Alicent the deserving saint" is not only a repulsive mindset and textbook misogyny, it's also so far removed from the point being made by making them parallels in this adaptation. People who buy into it are simply not interacting with the core themes of the story.

is sylus turning mc into a dragon too? Her outfit has white hair and dragon tail just like sylus, and he's talking a lot about wanting to make mc stronger.. Also sylus has a lot of vampire symbolism as well, does that mean his bite would turn mc into a dragon?

myth outfits usually doesnt show how mc looked like at the start of the myth, instead it mostly shows what she ended up looking like after she met the LIs. so i dont think she was a dragon from the start but instead became one later on. But someone said there was something about curses in the trailer and mc is supposed to be executed so it's possible she got cursed to be a dragon and sylus decided to make her stronger.

Anyways, the most important thing here is that i believe that bite mark is related to devouring sylus. Maybe her final stage to becoming a dragon/ becoming strong is devouring sylus and that's why she got those urges about devouring and eating around sylus.

I was checking battle info last night and i realized that there's already a definition about 'Devour mark' and apparently it makes the target forced to attack Sylus,,,,, and i believe that's the mark on mc as well

Idk what reason sylus has but it looks like he wanted her to get stroner and kill him at the beginning of the myth (maybe he's bored of his life but there isnt anyone who can kill him kinda thing?) but in the end they fall in love and this plan ends in a tragedy?

I guess we'll learn everything in a few days but im so excited that i cant stop thinking 😭😭
