Story time: made this piece with an old friend in mind. They had one of those almost photo-realistic art styles and we would respectfully hype up each other’s art

People thought it was weird that they would find interest in my cartoonish style if they already themselves had such an advanced one

I didn’t remember this Hojo line in the game (at least not when I played it) but I love that he canonically got pissed about Sephiroth not being sent to guard him when in actuality, Sephiroth basically just said “No fuck Hojo, he should die” a few moments earlier skfjdjs

also i think harry potter is a more interesting character when you allow james to be extremely morally grey. imo this is more reflective of canon: he was a bully. he was blindly privileged. he harassed lily and treated it like a joke. and no matter what, he's still a man who wanted to marry "the brightest witch of her age" and saw absolutely nothing wrong with making her his jobless prospectless pregnant housewife at 19 years old! that's entitlement!

like in doing this, james technically carried on centuries of misogynist conservative pureblood tradition (marrying women off to be teenaged childbrides) without another thought. this is the environment in which he was raised. and he told himself it was ok and progressive because he, like, wasn't racist to her for being muggleborn and genuinely loved her as a person, or whatever. but that's the bare minimum! and it shows that he had no qualms with participating in pureblood culture & tradition when it suited him, because he literally materially did. a better james potter would never have been comfortable with letting her take on that role.

and the series themes are more resonant when harry's parents aren't both just, like, nebulously ontologically good. it's really poignant when harry spends his entire life being taught to idolize a man who was, in actuality, kind of a piece of shit— and grapples with this as he grows up, ultimately choosing to be different. the lesson is that both good (and cruelty) can come from anyone, regardless of birth circumstances or house placement, because goodness is a choice.

anaxa is actually such an incredibly deeply passionate lover (both in a romantic sense and his general care for others). he just doesn’t let himself ruminate on it for very long at all and deludes himself into thinking he is acting 100% out of reason whereas he’s actually such an emotionally motivated person; and when he cares about somebody, he cares with his whole heart and body and soul and whatever. he’s just very good at performing, so he fools everyone about that fact, including himself; he’s caught up in his own facade.

I know that the headcanon of Soren being the one pining is very popular, but I personally think that it's not like that at all.

Ike said it himself, Soren is great at everything but at reading his own feelings, so I genuinely don't think he knows he loves Ike romantically simply because I don't think he has ever thought about that possibility himself. He probably just knows that Ike's presence makes him feel at ease and that he wants to be with him forever but since he just doesn't have a good graps of how emotions are he simply doesn't dwell on them too much.

The other reason why I think it is that he never seems upset about people flirting with Ike, he even gives actual tips to Aimee and only interferes when Ike is about to get in real trouble. He doesn't get upset at Ranulf, who is Ike's other love interest either, and his biggest conflict regarding Ike in RD is that he's going to die first and that's pretty much all.

Now, this is why their post-canon dynamic interests me so much, because Ike DEFINITELY knows that he loves Soren after base conversation 5, that bit about him realizing why Soren was so dear to him clearly references a classical "oh" moment and this solidifies when you hear him talk about love to Ashera.

So Ike, who is also a person who doesn't dwell on his feelings often, is stuck with someone who is completely oblivious to any emotion of his unless it's something as simple as happy/sad/angry/scared and even then he constantly dismisses those feelings. It's so funny, I was going to say may god bless his soul but he kinda stabbed her and ended the age of the gods in Tellius

this isn’t some big conspiracy where everyone is mad they can’t control you, everyone is mad at you because you can’t muster up basic respect for the diversity of beliefs that people have on this huge diverse planet

and the fact you’re so willing to paint everyone as being obsessed with controlling you and that they believe their “one true religion is 100% correct” sounds like projection on your part, YOU are the one wishing to exert control over others

being an atheist is perfectly fine because people should get to have control over their own lives, antitheism IS NOT fine because AGAIN people should get to have control over their own lives
