A lot of people are (very fairly) criticizing Murderbot's appearance in the new live action look-- BUT some of these people are also saying that it's inaccurate because it looks "too human" whereas in the books people instantly recognize it as a SecUnit. And I just want to gently point out that there's a really big point made about the fact that only the people who have been around SecUnits before and therefore have an ingrained association with their appearance (in particular people from the Corporate Rim) instantly recognize Murderbot for what it is. Otherwise it's able to pass as a generic enhanced human in front of people who have never met one. What actually gives it away to anyone is that it MOVES and ACTS like a nonhuman. The appearance changes ART did were meant to conceal SecUnit's identity from the average person who had interacted with SecUnits before or seen them in media, and it goes to show how identical and recognizable they all must be that just growing out its hair by like an inch, smoothing out its joints, and becoming 2cm shorter was almost a completely effective disguise.

I'm sitting here, thinking how, in episode 2, Cassie McKay told Victoria Javadi, "I like the people (in the ED). They're always there when you need them. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?"

And how, in episode 3, when Javadi said, "Dr. McKay seems nice." Langdon responded, "Cassie? Oh, yeah, she's great."

And how. Cassie used to be a drug addict. And Langdon kind of really needs someone in his corner right now, right? Because his bff Robby just threw him out, no urine test, no questions, no nothing. (what is actually beautifully [/end sarcasm] contrasted with all the "Carter intervention" reminders from ER, where not one, but five people were in Carter's corner, ready to help him. And one of them took the punch from Carter and still held him and helped him. Where's that sort of support for Langdon?)

I hope Cassie is that great person Langdon thinks she is, and she gets to him and gives him that help and support he needs.

I guess my blog is gonna be mainly ranting about mcr songs cause ive got another one for you.

(Disclaimer, this is also drawing from my own experiences, so my opinion is def very different than others’)

I got stuck on a loop of listening to Early Sunsets Over Monroeville on repeat the other day for no reason other than I was obsessing. And holy shit, that gentle guitar melody at the beginning is so fucking comforting, and then the muted vocals just give the song such a beautiful tone.

The line ‘I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight’ makes me feel like Gerard is wrapping me in a hug and telling me everything is going to be okay, which holy shit I need to hear that pretty often.

The way the part at the end is almost repetitive gives it so much emotion, almost mimicking the way my head can run on a loop saying the same sort of things over and over again.

The way that his voice progressively gets more emotional, until it almost sounds like he’s scream-sobbing the words 😭😭

And how the instruments start pulling back at the end, slowly stopping until it’s just his voice alone.

Which brings me to that last line. I’m going to try to keep this short, but I do have a bunch of thoughts/feelings on this part.

The final line, ‘does anyone notice there’s a corpse in this bed’ is one of the rawest lines I’ve ever heard, and it gives me so many feels. It genuinely changed the way I view myself and helped me work through a bunch of bullshit, just by me connecting so fucking deeply with it. There is so much meaning packed into those few words and I draw so much more with how much I identify with it, and it hits me like a truck every time.

Anyways, hope that wasn’t too ranty. Thanks for reading and supporting my probably unhealthy obsession! Would love to hear your thoughts!
