to preface i wanna say that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and whatnot, this isn't meant to be a rude commentary or anything, i just love this show a lot and analyzing it is a big part of why i post about it so much! i just wanted to give a little input here bc i personally feel as though some of anon's points are missing the bigger picture, and also felt like giving my own interpretation of craignessa. feel free to disagree with me, i don't intend for this to be super deep or anything i just like talking about this sort of thing :)
first off, i get being frustrated with the marketing. companies will always scramble to advertise their Token Couple, especially if it's mlw. however, the actual show creators really do not have any control over how CN chooses to market their show, so it's unfair to blame them in this situation.
it really confused me when people act as though craignessa is "unhealthy" just because wildernessa was mean to craig at one point. it entirely misses the point of craig's character. he chooses who he wants to hang out with; no one is forcing him to be with wildernessa; he feels no obligation to forgive her or justify her actions. this is shown with all of craigs "enemies." also, we see wildernessa develop throughout the series. she's not a stagnant character like so many people want to believe; of course she starts out flawed, but at the end of the day she's just a confused and possibly neurodivergent kid struggling to understand humans. and we see her begin to appreciate others around her, even if it's not outright stated.
and no, wildernessa was not mean to craig because she liked him. she was mean because that is a simple fact of her character that she eventually moves away from.
the argument that craig and wildernessa are an unhealthy couple also feels unfair bc like, they're never seriously involved in a relationship. like, c'mon, they're kids, i don't think they really care if they're dating or not, all they know is they like hanging out with each other. nowhere do they officially say that they're girlfriend-boyfriend, at least when they're kids. and that's the same with all creek kid romances; they're not that deep, just silly kids blushing and holding hands a bit. how can craignessa be "rushed" if it took 4 seasons for them to go from petty bickering to literally just - i don't know - hanging out and looking at each other cutely sometimes? i've seen tv show couples go from trying to kill each other to kissing in way less time and still be a very realistically portrayed relationship (ex: catradora). in comparison craignessa is literally the least rushed ship ever.
i really don't think their relationship is meant to be taken as seriously as others are taking it - like, anon says craig likes wildernessa for "no apparent reason," but isn't that the same with all of his relationships? why should a little kid have a reason to want to be around someone? (this takes me back to how craig chooses the people he surrounds himself with. he literally does not have any reason for being friends with anyone, he just hangs out with whoever he wants to lmao).
basically, this ship is really Not That Deep, and i get if it's not your cup'o tea. i personally think it's cute, and i don't get why others seem so keen on hating it, but that's just me :]
I’m neutral towards VanCraig. I think the concept of a kid who’s main schtick is bringing in various types of kids together and a kid who prefers animals over people is really fascinating. But it never feels truly acknowledged.
Also Cartoon Network videos promoting the ship over JpxManey and KelsxStacks feels like their forcing it which leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The fact that Wildernessa was on the CTFG poster spite having a limited presence only adds insult to injury. I can respect the creators not completely knowing what to do with er at first and then finally setting on something for her, the episode Breaking The Ice was pretty good but Puppy Love feels forced and unearned because Craig just likes her for NO APPARENT REASON other than she likes him. I can understand if he feels weird about this but he just flat out says he likes her back. Before someone says J.P and Maney didn’t have a massive build up as critic of my point I think that’s valid, but my counterpoint would be because that was done in the earlier stages of the show. We spent more time with them together than apart which makes up for the slightly rushed beginning of their relationship. A more reasonable comparison to this is Kelstacks, we spent episodes getting to see their dynamic unfold with hints of romance on both parties sprinkled in but not the main focus of said episode. And when we actually see it come to fruition, all the build up feels earned.
We had 2 seasons of Wildernessa being a bitch to Craig, after BTI it seemed like something special would develop but it feels bad because it only happened in 2 episodes. The finale of season 3 and Puppy Love. This unbalanced journey between them is the main reason why I’m not a fan of their relationship.
Unrelated note, theirs a clip of the worst ships consisting of CraigXEileen which seems really odd to me and almost feels like they put that in there just to make Craignessa seem good by comparison.
Marry me platonically, please

I'm watching the Craig of The Creek movie rn, and oh my God, MY SCOUT BABIES IT'S THEM.
Spoilers for Craig Before The Creek below:
WHOSE THAT GURL WITH THEM IS SHE LIKE LIKE AN OLDER SISTER/MENTOR TO THEM. OKAY, SO SHE'S CLEARLY A FELLOW SCOUT AND WOULD BE LIKE A MENTOR TOWARDS THEM.
Based on how Boris held her hand and the way Jason smiled at her comment towards getting the friend group name correct, that could be to imply they were rather close to her. Especially Boris. I doubt they're related by blood or law. However, I do think they had a big sister bond with her when they became scouts. According to Google, you can be a scout as young as kindergarten to 5th grade, and the oldest you can be a scout is 18.

My headcanon is that she is the reason why the scouts started going to the creek, and she would show them around it and guide them, I get a very strong older sister vibe from her. Much like Mari from Omori, let's hope she didn't play the piano...
I don't know how many years the movie takes place before the movie (at least not yet). However, I stirred up some guesses. Jason seems to be 10-11 in the show like Craig, so based on how young the scouts look, my guess will have to be that they are 6-7 years old (possibly 8 years old for Boris). So, 3-4 years before the show.
Imo, Jason seems to be happier in that scene, and in my opinion, Jason in the show isn't a very happy child if we exclude certain scenes. So, assuming the theory that Jason's mother is dead is true, we can assume the movie takes place before the tragedy.
In conclusion, this is what I stirred up for Jason (after the movie and before the show): I still have my headcanon that Jason's mother cheated on Jason's father, rooting their divorce. Jason's clearly upset by this as he begins seeing his mother a less, and his father is growing distant. However, he still had the girl we see in the movie for guidance and comfort. I do think that Jason was still pretty lonely in his childhood, so when his parents weren't around, he had her to act as an older sister for him.
But then, tragedy strikes, and Jason's mother is dead. Life begins to suck more for Jason, he now lives with just his dad and now he's straight up ignoring him and only remembers he exists in order to brag about Jason's achievements as a Forest Scout and to top it off he drags in Jason's step mother. And she clearly doesn't like him as much.
But at least he still has-
Oh, she's leaving too.
Jason's sister figure ages out of being a scout and leaves, leaving him to handle his new home situation.
I still think that Boris and the girl were the closest to each other and meant the most to each other. I think she loved them like little brothers and she loved showing around the new Forest Scouts and showing them the ropes. But Jason, Boris, and Tony stuck out to her THE MOST. She acted as an older sister to the younger scouts and maybe even stood up for them when the fellow older scouts were teasing them. She loved the scouts like little brothers, but time caught up with her, and she could no longer be a scout.
I love overanalyzing so much, you have no idea. I missed my scouts so much but now that they're back I can do SO MUCH WITH THEM NOW AHH
Also, do not think I didn't see the girl and (present) Tony having similar hats. Imma just go crazy with that and make the headcanon that she gave Tony that hat when she left. (I know her hat is a little different, but let me have fun).
And another thing, maybe she's the camp counselor we see in Camper On The Run. They have a lot of physical similarities, I need to see the episode again after watching the movie.
Edit:Just got done watching the movie, and the credits confirm that girl is the woman we see looking for Roxy in Camper On The Run and that she was indeed a fellow scout. Shannon is credited as Shannon the Scout rather than just Shannon. So, this could be a lead for my theory/headcanon being true. Someone on the COTC subreddit said that in the movie, Kelsey says she is in the second grade, and she is 9 in the show, so that would mean that the movie takes place 2 years before the show.
Now, let's get back to Shannon with this new information. The youngest to become a camp counselor is 16 and when I googled the age you can no longer be a scout I got multiple answers, but the most common one is 18. So we are safe to assume that Shannon left at 17-18 aka the estimate for when a Junior Forest Scout can no longer be a scout. I assume Shannon is 15-16 at the time of the movie and left at 17-18. So we can assume Shannon is probably 18-20 at the time of Camper On The Run.
Since she went to the creek, I wonder if she got to see Boris, Tony, and Jason again briefly. I NEED SOMEONE TO WRITE A FIC WITH ALL THEM PLEASE.

1, 16, and 22 for the choose violence ask game (whatever fandom you'd like!)
For the ask game here (which I'm linking bc I sort of buried it under a ton of reblogs as I caught up on stuff I'd missed while out of town).
1. the character everyone gets wrong So many, although a lot of that is just "my interpretation of this character seems to be vastly different than everyone else's." A few off the top of my head: Temenos, Ochette to some degree, Klavier (likewise to some extent Kristoph and AA4 Phoenix), Asougi, Rhea (likewise to some extent Edelgard, although to be fair her Houses writing is inconsistent, so that's partly on the writers), Cyril, actually a good portion of the 3H cast if I'm being honest, also Faye (again partly the writer's fault though), BotW/TotK Zelda (but more specifically Zelda's characterization in TotK), Jerrin (er, the wiki specifically). Lots of other characters that I have minor nitpicks over popular fanon things about, but these are the ones that currently make or have made me want to lowkey chew concrete when I see certain takes.
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc) I'll be honest I'm sure the popularity is partly the baked-in fandom racism, but Link's Gerudo outfit from BotW isn't appealing to me in like, any way whatsoever. To begin with, the entire belly-dancer outfit aesthetic is an inherently racist design trope with a very long orientalist history, and like, it's not even that hard to do some shallow, cursory research into what people who live in the desert actually wear and why, so Nintendo as a company has no excuse to keep designing the Gerudo Like That, but the fans perpetuating it doesn't help either.
And like, I dunno, the entire side quest in BotW of "you need to pretend to be a girl to sneak into this space you're not allowed into (which is a related but different racist trope also stemming from orientalism), and also btw the outfit you wear is the same orientalist outfit this fictional people wear and you got it from some random person instead of like, one of the members of that group of people" doesn't really do it for me. Like, listen anything that can be said about racism, racist/orientalist tropes, and the Gerudo has already been said better and more coherently by fans of color, so I won't continue to beat the dead horse, but I never did get the appeal and popularity of Link's Gerudo outfit amongst some fans.
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores All? of canon? Like, sometimes going back to the source material and actually analyzing it is useful for understanding the characters. And listen, I'm all for "the canon is stupid/bad/inconsistent/whatever, let's carve it up for the good parts, throw out the bad parts, and make up the rest as needed," but like, again, having a full understanding of the original canon is kinda required to do that effectively.
Okay, but more seriously, it depends mostly on which story we're talking about. Some rambles about a few different games I have soapboxes for (under the cut bc they are very much longass rambles).
For FE there are small details that get overlooked a lot that offer some really interesting insight into various characters, i.e. in almost every game from Awakening onwards, there's always a pattern to the characters who can wield or otherwise have access to dark magic, and it's always meaningful to their characterization/personal character arcs, but like I think I've seen exactly one analysis post talking about dark magic in Awakening, but none about any of the games since.
In the Octopath games (not including CotC, bc I feel like the new lore is wildly inconsistent with the original Orsterra canon, to the point where I kinda have to think of CotC as an entirely separate and non-canonical entity), there's a lot of really interesting minor details about the worldbuilding that get overlooked in favor of like, projecting irl ideas/issues onto and over what actually exists--specifically w/ the fantasy religion of Octopath, which like, still lacks significant worldbuilding in my opinion, but I so rarely come across any interesting and well-constructed fantasy religions that I'm willing to settle for what Octopath does offer bc it's still better than most fiction media.
But like both Orsterra and Solistia have enough worldbuilding and lore for their respective variations of the Sacred Flame religion(s) that they can stand as their own unique thing, but a lot of fans tend to reduce them down to "haha, fantasy Catholicism/Christianity" which like, they aren't? Christian-coded?? and esp. not Catholic-coded??? I have the same issue to an even greater degree w/ 3H's Church of Seiros but the worldbuilding in those games pales in comparison to Octopath, so I end up more irked bc it's like, the canon source material actually does have some rules and lore set in place for Orsterran/Solisitian religion, and it's so much more interesting to me to explore the endless and unique possibilities a fantasy religion offers in a narrative context, rather than just trying to shoehorn in a "well, it's just fantasy Christianity" reading, which is so limiting, and also not even present in the canon. And like, I dunno, fantasy religion, esp. in media I enjoy, is slowly becoming my white whale bc I think it could be so interesting as an explorative narrative device, but fans are so reductive about the topic that it makes me want to take a nail grinder to a chalkboard.
Also, uh, this is already long bc of my tangent, but like, another canon thing that gets ignored a lot is--okay it's not even my favorite thing, I'm wildly neutral on this facet of TotK's writing--but like, Sonia's time magic is very clearly explained in that one memory cutscene. In fact it's one of the only times magic actually gets an explanation in any LoZ game, so while I get why a lot of fanon wants post-TotK Zelda to still be dragon-y, like, the rules for how Sonia's magic works was pretty damn clear, she can return things to the "way they used to be" and this is why both Zelda's entire body and Link's arm end up back to normal at the end of TotK. As a result, I think it would be so much more interesting to explore a post-canon Zelda and Link who, instead of being dragon-y and missing an arm (both very valid, but again, there actually is clear canon rules for why they were both restored), like, I think it would be interesting if Zelda, having been returned to her state before becoming a dragon, struggled with memory issues, or at least the lingering, haunting fear and anxiety that she won't be able to remember things, bc a significant portion of her life (her time as a dragon) was just reversed and removed from her. And for Link, having there be some sort of weird phantom pains bc his body thinks his arm shouldn't be there any more, or a newfound sense of dysmorphia around his restored arm and needing to learn how to adjust to that, like. Those feel like more canon-complaint and still interesting post-story avenues to explore for those two characters specifically. But TotK in general feels like it was wildly misunderstood to me, so like, I'll get off my soapbox about it for now.
#was really happy that my cat wasn't mad at me when I returned#sometimes she gets mad at people for leaving for multiple days and won't talk to them for a good 24 hours but she seemed happy to see me#anyhow thanks for the ask!#I'm still willing to chat about the ask game if anyone wants to know about a specific media/fandom or different question#space-spring#ask game#I still don't have an ask tag

In the honeysuckle episode of cotc, what was the Archer kid checking for when he looked at Craig's arms?
Dunno! Maybe a symbol of some kind? It’s possible there’s a rival group to whatever honeysuckle protector group that archer kid belongs to.

Something I feel like people don't truly grasp about Xavier is that he's a manipulator. Like, not that they don't know that, but I don't think they understand the effects it holds on people.
Maya does deserve redemption. Hell, she still deserves to be Omar's friend (if he wants to and will let her is another story, and it'd be fine if he didn'twant to.). At the end of the day, she only joined Xavier because he offer what he knew she wanted when she felt most vulnerable (and by this point they'd been friends for quite a while it seems), and she never left his side because his further manipulation of her. Manipulation is HARD to cope with and hard to break away from.
Also, to a lesser extent, he manipulated Bobby. Yes, Bobby's original vote, his first betrayal, was of his own volition, not as a victim. However his "second betrayal" (in quotes because that's what some people call it, and in a way I guess it is, but it doesn't feel like real betrayal to me) was actually because Xavier manipulated him. Xavier straigh up LIED to Bobby. He told Bobby that the number was to protect Craig, and Bobby gave it to him because he thought he was making it up to Craig by doing so. Xavier knew this vulnerability of Bobby's because Bobby told him himself at the trading tree earlier in the episode that he felt bad for betraying Craig. Furthermore, Bobby's change of heart from that moment onward, even if he does mess up, is evident immediately.
Tl;Dr
I've decided that Bobby is getting a redemption arc of sorts in All the King's Men, and Xavier's manipulation and its effects is going to be a main point of the story because I feel like we don't focus on it enough or outright misunderstand it in the fandom.

Funnily enough, this sounds like it fits well with lore that the OT gacha game tries to establish.
(spoilers for Bestower of All chapter 4, for the few who may care)
In the final arc, the main character for it, Rondo, has a story arc about not having enough conviction to his ideals. This is why he gets dismissed to inherit the Sacred Flame from the one who currently wields it (Sazantos). It's only when he's put in a situation where Aelfric tells him to kill a friend and Rondo continuously refuses, because it's NOT RIGHT, does Aelfric grant him the Flame.
In contrast, the Accurst Flame is found by those who waver in their ideals and lose them for selfish desires. Knowingly hurt others to get what they want.
Basically, 'May the Flame guide you' means 'stick to your ideals of being kind'. And with how I understand the Sacred Flame is featured in OT2's story (I haven't finished it and have seen only some spoilers) it fits. The travelers are chosen by the Flame because they either hold the conviction to help others, or change to do so.
(Addressing prev's tags here): The old world is definitely the western continent and the new one the eastern. When I stumbled upon that lore in game I made the throwaway joke of 'Vide swallowed the dawn, so of course Vide came from the east, then managed to destroy the east continent before the gods could stop them.'

hey on the topic of everyone always forgetting about queer poc can we talk more about craig of the creek please. i know we all love lgbt+ kids cartoons but theres not a lot of kids cartoons with good queer rep, good storytelling, AND good poc rep all at once. cotc has something for literally everyone and its representation is objectively better than spop and toh, and yet i see nearly no one talking about it. i think this pride month we should make this show more popular please and thank you
also don't be turned away from the fact that it's mainly about younger kids; the style of writing makes it so theyre written incredibly realistically and still relatable to older people. its an "unreliable narrator" sort of vibe too
#please please pleaseeeee this show deserves all the praise in the world#craig of the creek#cotc#pride#pride month#queer poc#raccoon speaks#cotc analysis#creek rambles

Reasons you should be watching Craig of the Creek
Not enough people are watching this wonderful show, so I thought I’d do my best to introduce people to it. It’s made by former Steven Universe crew Ben Levin and Matt Burnett, so if you’re missing Steven Universe while it’s on hiatus this is a great way to keep away the hiatus blues, or if you just enjoy in cartoons. It’s great for a whole list of reasons, which broadly fall into the two categories of great representation and great storytelling:
Canonical queer representation
- The witches premiere in the episode The Curse. If you aren’t sure if you want to watch this whole show definitely watch this one at least! It’s my absolute favourite not least of all because it’s about teen goth girls in love. It has a sequel The Last Kid in The Creek which is also wonderful, and the witches cameo throughout the series. I don’t want to spoil too much but The Curse is essentially about the two not wanting to be separated and struggling to admit their feelings for each other. (Spoilers: they do and walk off alone, blushing, staring at each other lovingly, while the kids aww at them)
- Bernard and his girlfriend watch a cooking show hosted by a gay couple.
- Other cameos, hints and coded queer kids such as JP’s sister (who has fancy dinner reservations with Kat, a woman with a shaved head who compliments Kelsey’s fake sword). There’s also Raj and Shaun (two very close friends), as well as several very boyish tomboys, including Handlebarb and Turner.
- All public bathrooms I’ve spotted in the show have gender neutral signs on them which is nice.
POC representation
- Craig, the main character, is black and has a loving family explored in depth, including an activist grandmother working for the council, a wise and fun grandfather, a supportive fun dad who loves his amazing wife, an adorable assertive little sister, and an angsty overachieving older brother who just wants to be a good grownup who loves his family and girlfriend.
- There are MANY characters of colour. There are black and brown characters, Raj is Indian, Stacks is Hispanic (and it’s implied she is an immigrant), there are several Asian characters, Kelsey is Hungarian and Jewish, a persistent background character wears a hijab (I’m pretty sure she was named at some point but I can’t find her name anywhere. She definitely has lines at one point). I’m sure there are others I have missed. No one is a stereotype as far as I am aware.
Subtle neurodivergent representation
- JP is possibly on the autism spectrum. I’d love neurodivergent people’s opinions on this, but while the representation isn’t canonical or obvious I think it’s good that while JP is represented as having different thought processes from his friends, he isn’t made fun of for it, at least not by them. It’s noteworthy I think that he’s the eldest of the core trio, probably because he finds it easier to relate to younger people who still share his imagination and care less about his unique way of thinking. His neurodivergence is explored most explicitly in the episode Jextra Perrestrial, so if you’re interested in this kind of representation definitely check that episode out.
Non-nuclear family representation
- While the main character is a member of the typical nuclear family you see on TV (except black, and actually interesting) most of the other families we see are not.
- JP is raised by his mother and older sister. His father is never mentioned and their house is definitely in worse condition than the others we see. His family works hard to take care of each other. His sister is a nurse and both her and her mother are away a lot of the time, but they both love JP very much. JP’s sister also happens to be really openly body positive. I love them a lot.
- Kelsey’s father is an only parent. There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding how Kelsey’s mother passed away. It’s a very subtle but important part of Kelsey’s character and comes through in really bittersweet adorable ways (not limited to Kelsey using her “half-orphan”ness to guilt trip a man into giving her money)
- Other kinds of families are scattered throughout the show, including families that move around a lot, a home-school kid with a strict mother, and more.
Unique approach to fantasy and sci-fi
- You know how most kids show will take a kid’s fantasy and bring it to reality? Well Craig of the Creek keeps the fantastical and nostalgic element of that line of thinking but never confirms or denies whether the kids fantasies are real or in their heads. And not in a Scooby Doo way where the fantastical elements are explained away, but are hinted as a possibility right at the very end. Instead, two perspectives (the fantastical perspective and the realistic perspective) are woven into every episode.
- This means there are two ways to interpret every episode. You can view the witches as real witches, or as goth teenagers. You can view Helen as a kid from another dimension, or a home-school kid who is never at the creek at the same time as the other kids. You can view Deltron as a cyborg from the future, or as an imaginative kid from a big city.
- This is super unique and fun to watch. They come up with so many new ideas and its always fun to figure out what’s actually happening, while still getting to relive childhood fantastical nostalgia.
- Almost all of these episodes use this to talk about an issue, but these issues can get quite complex and are definitely not shoved down your throat.
Overarching mystery plot about a colonialist kingdom / cult
- Love the slow burn storytelling of Steven Universe’s Diamond Authority? Love putting together the mysteries of Gravity Falls? Then you’ll love this plot about colonialism, classism, bullying, peer pressure and more and its mysterious build up including cryptic graffiti art and flower symbolism.
- Even before this arc properly begins, Craig of The Creek primarily centers around the microcosm of the Creek. Many of the episodes have a lot of commentary on society, politics and how different factions of people form and interact.
- The show is over 50 episodes in and this arc is only just starting to kick off so now is the time to catch up and watch.
- Fun complex villain(s)
Complex relatable characters
- Want commentary and nostalgia about horse girls, children’s tea parties, weird kids, angsty teens, young weebs, dweebs and more!? Every childhood obsession is represented in this show.
- Adults! All the parents and older teens in this show are just as rich and complex as the kids. They are all so interesting and fun.
- Want characters with arcs, aims, fun relationships and complexity!? Look no further! Redemption arcs! Revelations! Found family! It’s all here!
Great art and soundtrack
- Cute background and character designs that make you nostalgic as hell and are also beautiful and well thought out.
- Sometimes the art design is changed up for a particular episode to portray a certain fantastical / sci fi element. It’s very fun and engaging.
- An opening song that’s fun to sing along to, bittersweet ending song that makes me want to cry, a couple of musical episodes including a super fun rap musical episode, and a great OST
Queer headcanons
- There are tons of ways to interpret the show but here’s some of my head canons just to get an idea.
- (Note that despite my headcanons I use the pronouns for the kids that they use in the show cause I’m not certain about any of it and they’re kids who haven’t come out yet and also for clarity and consistency’s sake – I’m not saying trans people are not their genders. Don’t worry I’m nonbinary)
- I headcanon that all the main trio grow up to realise they are queer. They strike me as that weird group of friends that doesn’t fit in with the other kids and aren’t quite sure how they all came to be friends, only to later realise they all showed early signs of breaking gender roles and that’s why they stuck together.
- Craig definitely grows up to realise he’s gay, bisexual or queer. His admiration for characters like Deltron and Green Poncho are definitely crushes that he mistakes for a strong sudden and eager desire for friendship.
- Kelsey probably grows up to realise she is nonbinary, a trans boy or a WLW. I mostly headcanon this because I relate to her a lot and I’m nonbinary and queer so I said so. She reminds me a lot of myself as a kid. She throws herself into books, mostly fantasy for escapism. She fantasises and writes a lot for the same reasons. She dresses like a tomboy (She always wears her hair up in the same bun which strongly reminds me of my own childhood hair dysphoria) and she hangs out solely with male friends.
- JP gives me strong trans lesbian vibes, or to a lesser extent nonbinary vibes. (I know his sister is WLW coded but take it from me there can be more than one queer in a family). He is interested in girls, specifically Maney the horse girl (he even joined the horse girls for one episode). He wears a long V-neck shirt that is essentially a dress ALL the time. He’s aware that he’s different and while self conscious sometimes, mostly just wants to express himself the way he wants to. He also chooses to go by initials JP over his very gendered name Johnathan Paul (In a recent episode he names a ship after himself, calling it “The SS Johnathon Paulina”).
- (Sidenote if you do start watching this show and I see any nasty shipping of these characters in non puppy-love fashion so help me god)
Other reasons
- The show is at times very intertextual and references Princess Mononoke, Super Smash Brothers, Sailor Moon, Lord of the Rings, and a billion other things. It also has some fun cameos, including background images of the Tres Horny Boys from The Adventure Zone, a TARDIS from Doctor Who, and a Cookie Cat from Steven Universe.
- Honestly, this post hasn’t done the best job explaining why I love this show so much. You honestly just have to watch an episode to understand fully what I’m talking about, so give it a go! Watch The Curse at least, it only goes for 10 minutes.

There’s this thing I find interesting - Jessica(I think I know her name from somewhere) is much more like the oldest bro(i forgot his name) - they're both serious, studious and successfull at school. I wonder if their parents are like that too? Is Craig, like, "the weak link" of this family or is he a secret smarty that is just not all about school?

its so weird to me personally that some people think that it doesnt make sense for craig to be nice to wildernessa but still hate jason (up until scout guest), but to me the worst thing wildernessa has done is say that craig doesnt know shit about nature vs jason whos basically like "ok tony now hit the second tower" for the majority of his screentime, and people wonder why craig doesnt trust him most of the time huh
#like i truly feel that jason does eventually redeem himself and its deserved. but cmon he literally dammed the creek its no wonder#that craig doesnt like him. he doesnt get the chance to see that jason has changed to become a better person until scout guest#it just seems odd to me that people are willing to forgive jason for doing#lets be honest#much worse things than vanessa. and hes still redeemable.#but vanessa doesnt get to be redeemable just bc shes a little arrogant?#its just like. whatever! theyre kids! they know who they want to hang out with! thats like a big theme of the show!#i digress#ive rambled too much#anyways#craig of the creek#cotc#wildernessa#jason cotc#raccoon speaks#cotc analysis

the ice pop trio is a great example of how goddamn good the cotc writers are at making organic character interractions; there's a ton of characters from various "groups" (some if which you'd never even imagine having any sort of correlation), but they could put any 2 out of those hundreds of kids in a room together and be able to create a genuinely interesting conversation between them without making it forced/awkward
#craig of the creek#cotc#creek rambles#cotc analysis#raccoon speaks#i love praising this show bc theres SO MUCH about it that's just absolutely perfect#they didn't have to go so hard on the writing for a silly show about kids playing in the woods but im so glad they did#a literal masterpiece hiding behind the facade of 'kids show'#I LOVE YAPPING ABOUT IT SO MUCHHH

sorry not sorry for rambling about my silly little shows for the billionth time but like. dungeon meshi and craig of the creek have sooo much in common despite being so vastly different in concept/genre. like. the themes and some of the characters are so similar. this sort of gets into dunmeshi manga spoilers but:
- most if not all characters are autistic/autistic-coded
- food is love. dunmeshi... for obvious reasons. theres a lot of eps in cotc about kids making shitty little snacks that adults would realistically hate but to the kids it's IMPORTANT
- one of the main characters has a whole arc about their fear of loneliness, and both end up going to extremes just so they can stay close by with their loved ones (marcille becoming a dungeon lord and craig wanting to use the heart of the forest)
- the sort-of antagonistic character you're begging to get brown contacts. like cmon:

- lesbians
- there's def more examples bc ive been thinking abt this for months but i can't remember them all at this moment 🙏 anyways do you see my Vision
