So today I was brainstorming ideas for what monsters to put in a zoo for a modern with magic critical role fic I am working on and my friend suggested a gelatinous cubelet (baby gelatinous cube) which is a great idea except for gelatinous cubes are canonically transparent. But they are commonly portrayed as a translucent green and I said "It's like they ate something radioactive"

That launched the discussion of "What if gelatinous cubes changed color based on what they ate?"

And what if?

Like imagine the zoo keepers feeding the gelatinous cube certain foods to turn it certain color so that the zoo goers can see it. They could feed the cube different things for different holidays too! Imagine an orange cube for Halloween, red for valentines day, green for St. Patrick's day, rainbow for Pride??? The possibilities are literally endless. And before you approach the enclosure there could be a what color is the gelatinous cube today display where zoo voters could guess what color the cube is.

But let's take it a step further. What if you only fed the gelatinous cube one thing? Like if you only fed the gelatinous cube strawberries, would the gelatinous cube taste like strawberries?

Can you eat a gelatinous cube?

They are made of gelatin. But they are also acidic. They are constantly trying to absorb you into them. So probably not.

But! Pineapple does this too! Pineapple is acidic and it tries to digest you as you digest it. So what if gelatinous cubes are like pineapple levels of acidic when eaten in small portions?

Now, imagine people raising gelatinous cubes in a clean environment where they are fed one kind of food in order to flavor them.

While it is not specifically DnD lore, it would make logical sense for gelatinous cubes to reproduce asexually, via splitting themself into multiple smaller cubes. Canonically, gelatinous cubes are large creatures filling a 10 by 10 by 10 ft space (10 ft³). Theoretically, a cube of that size could split into 8 cubes with each of them being 5 by 5 by 5 ft (5 ft³) and then each of those 5 ft³ gelatinous cubes could be raised and grown back into a 10 ft³ gelatinous cube. And with enough time, they could grow even bigger.

Gelatinous cubes are not sentient and don't feel pain so the gelatinous cube farmers could harvest from the gelatinous cube. Obviously, they would have to create a specialized system so that none of the farmers got absorbed by the cube (this would ruin the flavor). They would need acidic proof harvesting equip and they would have to be carefully to cut off a small enough amount each time that gelatin taken from the cube did not form it's own cube, but rather became an edible substance comparable to jello.

An entire industry would be born out of raising and selling different flavors of gelatinous cube.

A specialized server in a 5 star restaurant would bring the cube out to the guests' tables and cut off a silver to serve the freshest gelatinous cube as a delicacy.

Vloggers would start trends trying different flavors of gelatinous cube jello cups.

Scientists would experiment with feeding gelatinous cube jello to gelatinous cubes.

And these ideas are just off the top of my head. Minds more brilliant than mine would create even more.

So anyways, I'm writing a critical role fanfic where Essek and Caleb go to the zoo and I accidentally came up with gelatinous cube capitalism instead

Le club robot à la médiathèque de Saint-Martin-d'Hères : un franc succès !

Grâce au Club Robot, tous les objectifs de la Quinzaine du Numérique de Saint-Martin d’Hères ont été cochés.

Petits et grands ont participé aux aventures de Cubetto. Sa programmation très accessible a beaucoup plu aux familles et aux bibliothécaires qui ont pu raconter une histoire autour de ses déplacements sur les tapis pédagogiques.

Nous avons expérimenté les cubelets en accueil de classe en posant les défis du cahier d’activité à chaque groupe d’élèves. Ils ont très vite compris comment assembler des robots qui roulent afin de faire des courses

Lors du temps fort de notre événement, nous avions cinq animations différentes autour du Club Robot. Le robot Cozmo a aidé l’équipe de communication en parlant de la Quinzaine grâce à son outil de programmation de parole. Des enfants dessinaient des parcours de plus en plus sinueux à suivre pour les Ozobots. Rémi, de l’association Pangolin a animé un temps de programmation autour des robots Thymio et les usagers ont pu découvrir toutes les facettes de la personnalité de ce robot joueur.

Un franc succès pour ce kit très facile à prendre en main pour les professionnels. Nous avons pu faire beaucoup d’animations très variées avec peu de préparation grâces aux outils présents dans la malle et sans l'aide d'écrans (sauf pour Cozmo et les Sphéros). Les usagers étaient vraiment ravis de découvrir tous ces robots et leurs spécificités. Ils en redemandent, et les bibliothécaires aussi.

100 card singleton deck, no lands, but you can play any card from your hand as a land with all types that can tap for all colors (kinda like lorcana's inking mechanic but cubelet was created in 2014, suck it disney). you can make it competetive if you want, but it really shines as a kitchen table deck where the criteria for inclusion is "cards that make you pause and go 'huh, that's a weird card'"

it's like drafting and playing at the same time, but instead of passing the cards you don't want, you play them for land

incidentally, a deck built with the weirdest cards you can find on your card table also makes for a pretty solid beginner judge tower deck

Animation du Club Robot à la Médiathèque d'Ornacieux-Balbins

Le Club Robots à Ornacieux-Balbins aura attiré une quinzaine de personnes (dont 3 adultes).

Les jeunes ont apprécié l’animation et sont revenus à plusieurs reprises.

J’ai proposé cette animation uniquement les mercredis.

Cubetto : les plus petits (et même les plus grands) ont bien aimé tenter de le faire se promener sur le tapis et découvrir l’impact de leur programmation sur le robot. Ils étaient amusés quand celui-ci sortait du tapis. (Testé par 6 enfants et 3 adultes)

Thymio : le public testeur aura parfois au du mal à les faire réagir, ils étaient un peu « mous » (les robots, pas le public :-D). Le public a bien aimé quand ils se déplaçaient sur un circuit et étaient plus dérouté par le mode explorateur, qu’ils ont du mal à identifier, tout comme le mode amical. Le mode fuite leur a été plus évident. (Testé par environ 12 personnes)

Cozmo : Grand succès de Cozmo, le robot « Wall-E » qui aura vraiment plu et amusé ceux qui l’auront testé qui ne le lâchaient plus et ont été déçu qu’il reparte. Certains m’ont demandé s’il pouvait s’acheter. Le public était très amusé par son dépit quand il perdait et sa joie quand il gagnait la partie en mode jeu. Ils ont bien accroché au mode programmation également et étaient plutôt ébahis quand Cozmo prononçait leur nom ou les reconnaissait. (Testé par 3 adultes et 2 enfants)

Cubelets : ils auront bien plu, surtout ceux qui s’allument, klaxonnent. Le public a eu un peu de mal à trouver comment bâtir un ensemble fonctionnel (avec déplacement, lumière, son…). (Testé par 15 personnes)
