Hi @support please let us opt out of tumblr live completely, not just snooze it. 🙏

The very first thing that popped up when I opened the app on my phone? A nsfw live post, which I had no desire to see. That’s not something I want to worry about turning off every week.

#tumblr is my favorite social media #but I heavily curate my feed to be exclusively sfw #and if live is going to take away that control - then this is no longer a safe space for me #besides I don’t want random stuff pushed at me that I didn’t follow #that stresses me out #support #tumblr live

spotify is maybe the weirdest app to try out the tiktok style algorithm. who the hell wants to listen to music via swiping through 30 second clips. ill kill you

#HERES an idea spotify. allow for better connection and playlist sharing between users #if u wanna be social media soooo bad give us a tagging system for playlists. let following ppl actually mean smth #instead of the same shitty ai curated playlists every day give me a feed of user created playlists #not to say i dont use the daylist and dj. i think those r pretty alright #but like damn sometimes i want to listen to smth touched by human hands #NOT PURELY A SHUFFLE PLAYLIST LISTENER BTW……#i just find them better for when im stufying and shit

I feel like it would be so easy for tumblr to keep its users graces right now in a time where alternative websites are rapidly falling out of favor but instead of harnessing its niche its doing things opposite of what its comparatively loyal userbase wants, like even taking in how counterintuitive economic strategies get its baffling. genuinely though I feel like im gonna eventually reach a point with modern websites where I feel like they dont provide anything favorable to me anymore and Im just gonna exclusively start limiting my internet experiences to like, going on neocities on my laptop.

Made it onto the blueblorp app if any folks who also have it wanna follow~ Not gonna be all that active since's mostly gonna be for business I think like what my twitter became before- eeeverything lately x,D An been feeling comfier mostly posting to just here or insta right now, but either way still nice to have as backup's sake haha~ Also kinda stealth news but got a new full time job for the season! Very much why art suddenly had to slow down cause physical energy in the wrists' all being used to keep up with work for the mo. Still really like the idea of a giveaway thing if I ever somehow hit 2k but not gonna overstress on that too much til I have more freetime again haha!

#this would genuinely be a deal breaker for me actually #i dont like social medias. i have never lasted on any site-curated social medias for more than a couple months #and ive learnt my lesson that theyre not for me. i dont put myself through that torture #if tumblr removes the chronological feed...#man i'll have to go through with my promise of not being on any site with an algorithm and deactivate...#but hopefully it doesnt come down to that. maybe theyll do it for a little bit and take it away like tumblr group chats #moose blabber

I’m seeing mad revisionism going on about Tumblr in the light of all the mess happening with Twitter rn, and I just wanna remind y’all of a few things:

Tumblr was not ever an idyllic paradise where no drama or problems ever occurred

all the inane discourse topics and antis and all that shit existed on Tumblr just as much as it exists on Twitter and Tiktok

you don’t have to make up blame to put on folks migrating to tumblr, you can just say with your whole chest that you just don’t like people hopping from other social media sites to Tumblr and leave it at that

Cause some of these posts I’m seeing circulating around are looking goofy and I just want better for y’all.

#tumblr does not and never did exist in a vacuum #people who left here to go to Twitter brought the fandom bs with them so #what’s the point in sneering at them when they come back to where it all began 😂#tumblr is also a different beast like I don’t be on here for nothing but shitposting and fandom thirst as god intended #Twitter is my more serious outlet where it’s 90% social Justice stuff I would never try to get into here #cause you can’t curate your feed as well on tumblr as you can do on Twitter and I’m VERY particular about who I follow for SJ stuff #and finally y’all just calm down off the high horses #you are on Tumblr. there is no moral high ground for you to stand on #we are all trash just trying to get by 😂

do you think newjeans is an sm group (or could very much be one)? i remember when they debut, a lot of the reaction was of that. which is only normal considering newjeans' ceo was a large factor as to why sm is sm.

people point out the members' visuals as sm but hybe is relatively a new company so what holds as their standard is hard to define for now. (taeyeon/irene + kangta/jaejoong/s*won as clear examples of an "SM face"). also, i sometimes forget that some groups are under hybe because there are so fu-cking many now and they're going to debut like 4/5 new groups next year. it literally does not make any sense to me.

other than that, i don't really feel like newjeans gives off an sm vibe? i feel like it has a lot to do with the training system and what each company emphasizes on. it seems that newsjeans is gonna be more dance-focused like all of the other hybe groups. sm groups usually have a distinct vocal color - despite being under the same company, each group holds their own.

slkdjflskdfjslkdfj they are NOTHING like an sm group. like you said, sm has very specific branding in terms music, sound, and visuals, and also in HOW they construct their groups as well. i said it in ask a long time ago, but sm is the only company where i can say that they have a distinctive methodology of how they assemble a group and who has what positions/fills specific archetypes. although a lot of their artists are what would be considered 'all rounders,' sm groups have very specific positions that artists are meant to fill according to how they are assigned and there isn't a lot of deviation from that in group context. there's very little confusion as to who the main vocalists/dancers/centers are. hybe has more of a.............egalitarian approach (well, that's what it translates to, i don't think that's what they intend) where they expect everyone to have an equal level of performance skill and bill groups as being 'performance' oriented, but then they don't have anyone else in a strongly defined other role. like how do you have an obvious main dancer when your whole group can sort of all pass as main dancers? how do you tell who the main vocalist is if you don't have any strong vocalists taking the bulk of the lines and exercising their park n bark privilege? i couldn't tell you what the position of any of the girls in newjeans is unless i looked it up, but i could immediately tell with aespa.

the only thing they have in common is that they have a similar approach to aesthetic branding, and that's literally bc it's the same person doing both.

#kpop questions #newjeans w #i know there are a lot of kpop fans out there but sometimes y'all come at me with 'things ppl have said' that i've never heard before #and it makes me go 'hm i guess i have curated my kpop based social media feeds very well'#feels like im peering over the fence of my garden like where tf r u guys hearing these things lskdjflksdjflsd #not to bang on about the importance of positions in kpop again but theyre SO important #they give you a baseline to establish about the idol without actually having to KNOW anything about them #the formula works! there was a reason every second gen group was shaped like that!#there def are still non sm groups that are formed based on old school positioning but not as many. like tan for sure #bc theyre literally just a second gen group in a fourth gen trenchcoat #and like. p1harmony? i barely know anything about them but i can tell what everyone is #oneus has a rep for being a performance group but they have clear positions still #even with a.c.e who's also a performance group its still super clear who does what #part of the problem is choreography also! 4th gen choreo is too intense now!#and it often doesnt 'feature' a main dancer in the same way that it used to #the vocal colour of sm groups comes from yoo youngjin! he's their original vocal trainer and he's probably sm's oldest employee lol #and a lot of the 'typical' sm songs were produced by him #most other companies don't have as distinctive of a vocal presence bc they just havent had the time to establish it #also important to remember that hybe has bought out a bunch of preexisting groups and there's no way to maintain consistency that way #text #answers

As far as I know, the way reddit shows posts shouldn't be based on an algorithm - it should be based on how you choose to organize your feed (hot, newest, etc.). But I swear to god there is an algorithm, since it's not really showing me certain subs I don't interact much with, and constantly shows me posts from subs I interact with more. But just because I don't interact all the time doesn't mean I don't want to see stuff...

Now I've resorted to upvoting literally every single post on my feed unless I really don't like it 🙃

#so tired of this algorithm bullshit with social media in general #instagram has been sooo nice since i realized i could view posts chronologically #(and there aren't ads when you view that feed 😉)#i've recently unfollowed a bunch of subs to curate my feed to just be full of funny or interesting or wholesome things #hardly any politics or drama anymore except for a couple subs i didn't want to leave bc of reasons #but of all the new subs i joined not many are coming up in my feed still...#reddit #mine
