splatoon promo kids name list cause its always a pain to try to look for them for me personally and i realized. i could change that!

NOTE: weapons are ALWAYS inconsistent with the promo kids. their names may be assigned to different models as well. their first appearance is what they are usually seen as, and whatever weapon they "main" are based on renders/what they use in trailers.

SPLATOON 1

The skin tones are very inconsistent with everyone pictured.

TOP ROW: Kaori, John, Mizuho, Rul

BOTTOM ROW: Pit, Laura, Yuriko, Yuya

Kaori and John are the "Agent 3"s. Yuriko and Yuya do not have official renders.

SPLATOON 2

The skin tones are inconsistent, mainly with those with darker skin tones (unfortunately).

TOP ROW: Surume, Cuttlefrsh (Cuttlefresh in the earliest known trailer), Kou, Kensaki

BOTTOM ROW: KelpShot, Splashley, Tof-U, Yari

Surume and Cuttlefrsh are the "Agent 4"s, though Cuttlefrsh/Male Agent 4 is only ever depicted once (discounting coroika). Yari does have a transparent render, I just prefer the one with the roller (though, I wish I could find the transparent version of it).

OCTO EXPANSION (bonus)

BONUS: even though the renders used to represent Agent 8 are wildly inconsistent, there's two regular octoling renders that people believe are linked to them. Their names come from Octolings that look very similar to them in the offline version of the lobby. (Patricia and Steven). Sometimes Patricia is referred to as Naomi due to misinfo. They're like, promo kid adjacent to me.

SPLATOON 3 (the most popular and consistent)

VeronIKA and TakoTruck's skintones are inconsistent :(

Eyecolors for VeronIKA, Hirooooo, and AnemoneNo1 are inconsistent

TOP ROW: VeronIKA, Hirooooo (five o's), AnemoneNo1, TakoTruck

BOTTOM ROW: Stephanie, kAyOss (the k is not meant to be capitalized im dumb, image is inaccurate), C4L4M4R, YARRwhal

VeronIKA and Hirooooo are the "Neo Agent 3"s (though, Hirooooo is only used once for the artbook)

There is also an instance where Hirooooo's name is misspelled (only four o's) but i didnt want to find the image

BONUS

Tof-U is technically present in one of the gameplay showcases(?) I believe it's an error

kAyOss used to look different and was most likely combined with the unrelated promotional character shown next to them (who was used for Wireglasses/Glassless in Coroika)

Posting my SurFresh doodles from SurFresh week I hosted on Twitter

Quick first impression thoughts on the Splatoon2 trailer (I’m still jittery I need to get this out of my system):

New maps and gear and hairstyles!  But we knew this from the teaser shown in the first Switch announcement.

THIS SONG AHFKDLSHAFSA.  One of my favourite things about Splatoon is the music, I’m SO looking forward to all the new tracks!

DUAL PISTOLS HOLY FLIP

THEY’RE ADDING INKRAILS TO MAIN MATCHES AAHHH.  Such a cool mechanic that was only ever used in single player before.  Also confirmed add-on for Moray Towers; personally I think that’s a good choice as another way of getting around snipers.

Did that charger just insta-charge?  DOES IT SAVE YOUR CHARGE IF YOU SWITCH TO SQUID FORM?? HOLY FLIP

More dual pistol action!  Also those duck and rolls aahhh that looks like fun.  I hope it’s available on more weapons than just the dual pistols (or alternatively, they add a lot more physical movements for inklings in battle.  Or both.)

SEEKERS BOUNCE OFF WALLS.  I LOVE IT.  Gonna hate facing it in battle though, I can already tell.

I like how you now change how you hold the roller when flicking (while jumping?  I think?)  Since rollers are only supposed to be able to splat with the center of the roller, I think it’s a good change.  Personally I think it’ll help me play rollers a little better (I’m really bad about hitting with the center of the roller >.>’  Which is why I don’t play them as much as I’d like to, or at least Splat Rollers.  I’m marginally better with Carbons and Dynamos.)

Noooot sure how I feel about the map mechanics yet?  I don’t like yet how it takes up the entire screen so you can’t see what you’re doing.  Also does this mean you can’t tap to jump to someone now?  Also what about beakons, how would you jump to those?  Or are they removing them completely?  I’ll be sad if they do, beakons have saved many a Rainmaker match for me (granted I wonder if it’s because of that that they think it might be overpowered and removed them).

Paying close attention to the splatted names…Cuttlefresh?  Tof-U?  KelpShot?  I can’t tell if these are just more punny names or if they’re references to new weapons/brands.  Would LOVE for it to be the latter.

THESE NEW SPECIALS AAHHH.  CARPET BOMBS, standard Bomb Rush, HIGH POWERED SPRAYS, RAINCLOUDS, JET PACKS, THAT POWER BOMB, I’M SCREAMING

Also the new hub looks AMAZING!  I’m assuming it’s still in Inkopolis, but is it a remodel of Inkopolis Plaza?  Or is it a brand new location?  Looks brand new to me.

BABY SEA URCHIN NPCS HOW CUTE.  Also that pigeon is adorable.

THE OCTARIANS ARE BACK, NEW SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN YES.  But who’s leading them this time?  Did DJ Ocatvio officially break out?  Is it that Octotrooper on the monitor in the background?  I’m so curious about this.

Is that Marie?  It has to be, right?  It kinda looks like she’s wearing some traditional Japanese dress, which reminds me of how she and Callie looked in the old pictures of them winning the folk-singing contest.  Speaking of which…there’s been absolutely no mention of Callie and Marie so far at all, this is the first shot of either of them potentially being in the game at all.  Will the story mode focus more on them somehow?

…Is that an ice cream truck.  How is this going to function in game I must know.  (Please don’t let it be just a cool background thing…)

I’m not as salty over the title as some other people are, but I do think they also missed out on naming it Spla2n or some variation thereof.  I can kinda see why though, Splatoon is already a pun on its own and I think adding in the 2 would probably ruin it (much as I think it would be cool).

SUMMER 2017 RELEASE DATE.  Little sad it won’t be a launch title, but not surprised seeing as we’ve had basically no info for the game before now.  Glad it’s still marked for this year though!  Really hope the date won’t get pushed.

…Now I have to decide when to get my Switch.  Do I try to preorder it now or wait ‘til closer to summer to pick it up?  I’ve also been quite excited for Breath of the Wild, which surprises me as I’ve never finished a Zelda game before…maybe now’s the time to start.

Actually...I just saw on Twitter that the Switch is going to be $399.99 CAD...I might hold off on getting it at launch then. I'll be 100% getting it for Splatoon though, but I'll likely end up waiting 'til it's closer to the game's actual release date.
