we need a kipperlilly special on the complicated women podcast - she willingly chose to be possessed, those are some complex ethical and philosophical ramifications. for the sake of the argument i'm assuming porter also has control over her since the shatter star is a part of her, because the morality of choosing to become evil is so interesting. did she think she was going to become a hero somehow, or did she accept that she would have to be a villain to have the power she wanted? she wanted to be better than the bad kids but she kept her moral superiority about fairness and the rules, so was she aware that she couldn't beat the bad kids by playing fair? was her anger always at her own inadequacy, at the fact that she could never excel in the same way they did without cheating? was she projecting the entire time?

Main d20 fandom that hates on kipperlilly for being mentally unwell, for being angry and confiding in a trusted adult about said anger and then dying and coming back serving a distorted goddess of conquest and rage im so happy for you not ever having a genuinely fucked up thought because being an angry person and having thoughts of wanting to physically harm someone because of something truly childish is not a hell i would wish upon anyone but lord have mercy should any of you meet someone irl like that i hope you treat them with respect knowing that feeling insurmountable anger and not being able to truly understand why you are that way is not something that anyone who feels that way wants.

And i personally hope i never meet any of you and i think some of you should analyze how you talk about fictional characters with very real mental illnesses because YES it’s fucked up that she was jealous of riz for having this tragic backstory, but have any of you considered the fact that she was working through it with jawbone and then she fucking died and is in service to a corrupted god of conquest and rage and lost her closest friend and now has so much anger in her that she is now forced to put somewhere

Anyway apologies for the rant/wall of text i just find kipperlilly and the rat grinders as a whole very interesting and knowing how others perceive primarily kipperlilly deeply annoys me, especially now that im completely caught up with fhjy, and if some of (or most of i know how i sound most of the time) this reads as condescending or similar it’s because i was a bit upset when i started writing it lmao i have since calmed down

also no one seems to address how fucking vile it is that caramelinda didn't say "I'm sorry I shouldn't have lashed out at you Theo, you deserve better" and instead said "you would have done the same thing" which despite noticing the flaw in her actions is still not taking accountability, plus it would be easy for Theo to lash out at caramelinda's bad parenting as the source but he didn't so she's wrong anyway. even at her best when she's admitting fault she mistreats those around her and escapes accountability. yeah she belongs in the complicated women podcast but like. just because someone is complicated doesn't mean when you break down those complications she's a good person. and I'll add to that the fact that she thought she had the right to secret details about amethar's love life while lazuli was alive? you think being in love with someone ensures access to every secret they know, even ones that aren't theirs to share? lazuli didn't tell you because it wasn't her secret or yours. and again. we've all said and done cruel things or things that we realize later aren't true or aren't fair. the difference is when caramelinda takes no responsibility for it ever. and I know there's not a lot of joy in her life and that can manifest in bad ways but maybe you would be less angsty if you fostered any relationship with your daughters. I'll never apologize for her

I've known Saccarina Frostwhip for about 10 mins already... My god no wonder Emily got backlash for her.. but I'm not hating her at all.

She is complicated. Honestly weirdly if Saccarina had been introduced earlier like then maybe her and Ruby's relationship could have blossomed but also this is VERY VERY MUCH Game of Thrones Sansa and Daenerys. .

Daenerys being Saccarina. Sansa being Ruby. Especially during the later seasons. But my point stands.... Saccarina is a very complex woman.

Yes Cumulous was interesting to introduce. Like a distant cousin of Amethar, but during a battle episode. Then got more information about him in the following episodes.

Saccarina got introduced during a role playing episode. She got introduced while the Rocks Family were on the run.

The fact that Cumulous and Saccarina didn't hate each other or got along very quickly mainly because of Lazuli.

"Cousin, I know that this is enormously complicated but I think that this is a very good thing" - Cumulous to Amethar.

Like I might make a post of who I think is who from Crown of Candy to Game of Thrones. Since it's very interesting to think about.

(In case you are wondering.. .I love Game of Thrones, I did actually like the ending of the show aka the final two seasons.. I rewatch it often as well as I'm working my way through the books at the moment.)

This style of fantasy. This low/high fantasy with high lethal stakes is always going to have different people thinking differently...

Like 3 groups of people might want the same thing but go about it differently... If that makes sense.

people yelling about the bad kids actions like "the rat grinders are just kids!!!" and what do you think the bad KIDS are??? 🤨🤨🤨 they're all kids actually and they're impressionable and emotional and irrational like sorry tbk want to kill people who just tried to murder like half of the school using an ancient powerful grandma dragon???? ON FABIANS BIRTHDAY NO LESS!!

also I really enjoy the rat grinders and I wish we got to see more of them!! I think a redemption arc or even just seeing more of their perspective would be SO satisfying and I would eat it up and bawl my eyes out But. we've had a lot more time with them than the actual cast has. we get a whole week between eps! and people have been putting in their headcanons and going into deep interpretation mode and everything so obviously we're more attached. the only content of the rat grinders the cast is getting is them trying to Destroy The World and Kill Them. Would love more emotional investment in them from the cast (and I bet that could've happened if stuff was steered a little differently but that's its own thing) but it didn't happen and it's still in character!

and now y'all can write sad sad fanfics about the rat grinders possibly having to face Lucy again after dying and their rage curses wearing off n isn't that soooo appealing cmon guys get in the Google docs!!! take advantage!!!
