The beach 🏖️ - When was the last adventure/vacation/mission you went on with your f/o?

the last time I thought about an adventure of any significance was when I cooked up that AU where we visit the Kingdom of Rosas (from Wish) and I love that AU so much 🥺 We visit because we think it's a legend/myth, so we go exploring it and it's entirely real!!! Hans is a huge history nerd (CANON by the way and it made me so happy to learn because me too!!!) so he wants to learn all he can about it. And since he's king now, we have free range to go!

we get to meet Magnifico and everything because we go poking around the dungeon, like big time snooping. No one else dared given the kingdom's reputation with magic, but Hans has experience with magic already, so he isn't as afraid (it's so hot when he's brave like that 😍)

And [spoilers] we find him still in the mirror, cuz I assume that the curse freezes him in time and he's been there forEVER (I'm talking hundreds of years because I think Wish and Frozen take place like, 400 or 500 years apart), so we take him back home with us and HKDSKJS IT'S A MESS AND IT'S SO FUNNY I THINK ABOUT IT SO MUCH

*Optimus thinks for a moment, smiling to himself as color rises to his cheeks. He clears his throat a bit before replying.*

“Honestly, there’s a lot, but… Hearing Sav laugh– like when she genuinely lets loose and laughs with her whole chest? That never fails to make my spark race. She says my laugh similarly affects her, but… the world just seems to stop when I hear it. I was never really good at making my peers laugh, so when I can get her to laugh– either intentionally or not– it makes my whole day.”

[8. When is a time you’ve been protective of them? ] 

*He doesn’t even get the chance to think about it for very long before he blushes, a chuckle of embarrassment slipping out.*

“Ah, well… I won’t try to get too into it for a couple reasons. But… I remember, for a few days after the first time we ever got, um… intimate, I didn’t feel right being away from her for longer than I needed to. I think it was because I realized how gentle and delicate Sav tends to be, and I just… got so scared that something would happen to her if I wasn’t there to protect her. We talked it over when she noticed I was being clingier than usual and she was patient with me, but she let me know that if she ever needed me, she’d let me know.”

*He pauses a bit and sighs.*

“It… still happens, every now and again. Sav’s good about helping me through it, but it’s a little embarrassing to admit it’s happened more than once.” 

[10. What do they do to get you flustered on purpose? What do they say when they do?]

*Optimus thinks about it; he’s still not recovered from the last question and he has to cover his face with his hand for a moment as he tries to regain some composure.*

“... Her touch never fails to get a rise out of me. She’ll lean on me a little more than normal or she’ll run her fingertips one me– and it doesn’t matter where– and she’ll have me wrapped around those cute little fingers of hers before she knows it. She doesn’t even say much– she just gets this knowing, catty grin on her face or she’ll chuckle a bit before leaving me alone. She’s a tease. I can’t bring myself to say I dislike it, even if it’s inconvenient at times.”

“... A-anyway, let’s move onto the last question.”

[14. Are you able to pinpoint a reason as to why you love them? What is it?]

*Optimus takes a quick moment to recover after the last couple of questions. His cheeks still have color to them but his expression is softer now.*

“Without a doubt, it’s Sav’s heart, her nature. Her kindness, her patience, her ability to empathize with people… that’s what made me fall for her. She has the kind of nature that’s just so easy to trust and rely on. The first time I opened up to her, I was shocked with myself for suddenly being so open, but… she didn’t seem to mind. She just listened to me, and found ways to better understand where I was coming from. She reassures me when I’m doubting myself and she builds me up more when I’m already feeling good. The love that she shares with others is like nothing I’ve ever seen before and I’m just… so grateful that I’m one of the people she gives so much of it to. I love her.”

*He sighs a bit to himself and looks over the question again and nods.*

📞🌒: "Neither Meg nor I have much energy to garden, what with raising so many children. If we did garden, we'd probably want to grow fruits and herbs of various sorts."

📞🌒: "Hm. Probably something pastel, I'd guess. But the truth is, her favorite color is a dark red. Or that's what she tells me, at least."

📞🌒: "I'm not really the superstitious type. Just a couple of little trinkets that I carry around with me because it makes me feel a little safer - and it makes Meg feel a little better."

[Henry] Okay, so, I knew going in, Em is not a pet kind of person. Not into dogs, not into cats. Plants are cool. But no pets.

[Tim] Which is wild, because they’re a Pokémon trainer in my universe.

[Henry] Right? And like, I feel like they’d be down to have a dragon or something, you know? Or a bird, or a fish, or something. They might like a fish. If it was contained, and if I managed all the clean-up, they might be willing to give it a try. I think the ick is a big factor here.

[Tim] They have a six-foot fire monster who they let sleep in their bed.

[Henry] And you know, I think a monster is different than an animal! I dunno!

~ 🎈 - how do you like to celebrate s/i's birthday? ~

[Elfilin] Oh, oh, Emerson’s birthday is so fun!! Big parties are always nice, and Emerson gets embarrassed about it sometimes, but they really like the celebration. It’s like they’re thinking, “oh wow, I almost forgot I have so many friends!”

Last year, Kirby took us on a hike through Candy Mountain to go see Dyna Blade and her chicks. They’re getting so big!! Emerson had such a fun time flying with them.

In the evening, we met up with some other Pop Star residents and went back to Waddle Dee Town for cake and presents. It was a really good night! 🩵

~ 🖍️ - do you have a fun/silly pastime you like to engage in with s/i? what is it? ~

[Aurora] Well... I know it’s not becoming, but Emerson and I sometimes play like we did when we were small. We go to the woods to play, just like the old days. I don’t even tell Phillip, though he knows I go. Surely he thinks we’re up to some manner of witchcraft.

[Saturn Girl] What games did you play, Princess? When you were little?

[Aurora] Oh, just– silly make-believe games. Making crowns of leaves and swords of sticks, little actors on the forest stage. I would act out things I had heard from my aunties, or tales they had shown me in books, and Emmie– well, they would always add an interesting splash of color to the story! Looking back on it now, I can see why, but at the time, they were just the silliest best friend I could have ever imagined.

And… I had a habit of repetition, with my play, I liked to act out the same stories with them again and again. I can’t tell you how pleased I was to find that they remembered them all, even after all these years apart.

~ 🎧 - is there any music that s/i listens to that youve started to like? ~

[Connor] Mmm… we’ve been affecting each other’s playlists for a little while now, I think. They call what I listen to old man music, and meanwhile, they listen to the weirdest, most offputting stuff from some guy, an out of tune guitar, and intentionally bad recording equipment– and wouldn’t you know it, there’s a pretty decent overlap in between there, between those two types of music. Basically, I play the Gin Blossoms when we're all in the truck, just to irritate Jon.

Here’s a good example of one where I can’t remember if they got me listening to it or if I got them listening to it in the year of our lord static noises. It might have been them, actually. laughs It’s kind of a sad song, isn’t it? One of those songs that’s been on the radio forever.

Hm. Sunny’s and my music tastes are pretty different, but I do enjoy their music and they seem to like most of mine. I think I would choose Do You Believe In Magic by The Lovin’ Spoonful. They also like that song, and it would be fun to dance to.

8: What is something you love but your s/o dislikes, and how do you navigate this/keep the peace?

I guess the obvious answer is my.. Violent tendencies Sunny is definitely not a fan of, hah. But thats too easy. And I don’t need to give you the details of how we work that out… Ah, I know. I like Pizza a lot. Sunny hates it. Simple solution: I just make them whatever else they want and we have different meals. Anything for them of course.

Continuing from my first post about card collecting ... So…. fast forward twenty-some years… and here we are. I read an article about a Derek Jeter card that sold for a cool $100k. When I saw that card, my heart picked its pace up a bit… and thought to myself… I HAVE THAT CARD!.. After work, I ran to my basement, I dug out my cards and there it was… The 1993 Upper Deck SP Foil Derek Jeter Rookie. So I did some research, joined some forums and Facebook groups, why was this card worth so much? 

What I didn't know about that card was, the card that sold was “graded.” So since the time I collected, and in order to get the best price for your card, or to drastically increase the value of your card, you now need to send your card to a 3rd party grader. The card that sold was a perfect 10, my card… not so much. I know it wouldn't get a 10. I researched more, asked around in some FB groups, what to do, who to send it to, how much, etc. Once I got my answers, I sent it off with 14 of my best cards. I got my tracking number and I waited…

I knew to go into this grading adventure it was going to take some time, 30 days! Thirty days of impatiently, anxiously waiting. After a week, I checked my tracking number, and it said in transit. A couple more days later… in transit. It's still in transit? It was only going to take three days. The next day the tracking said status pending. Rut Roh! I called the shipping company… IT WAS LOST. Fifteen of my best cards were lost!

I went back to the location I shipped the package from, asked them for help, they contacted their regional manager, I had 2 different people from the 1800 customer service working it from their angle. After 3 weeks, the customer service team said to consider the lost and to file a claim. I was crushed…. CRUSHED. Then my wife came up with a great idea…

In the world of social media, we went to the shipping company’s Facebook and Twitter pages and asked for help. After some basic interactions, no new information. My wife did some internet searching and came across the CEO's email address. I instantly sent him an email documenting the whole issue. Then the unthinkable happened…

Within an hour of my email, I got a phone call from the CEOs office. Go figure, I didn't have the phone close to me, and it went to voicemail. I was told they escalated my case and had their top tier team looking for it. By the end of the day, they found the package, and it got to its destination 2 days later.

Now the question remains… What grades did I get?
