Animal of the Day!
Mexican Striped Owl (Asio clamator)
Tumblr media
Conservation Status- Least Concern
Habitat- Central America; Northern and Central South America
Size (Weight/Length)- 500 g; 35 cm
Diet- Small mammals; Insects; Reptiles; Amphibians; Small birds
Cool Facts- While the tufts on their heads might resemble ears or antenna, the feathers only add to the Mexican striped owl’s charisma. These owls have a massive range that spans the majority of Central and South America’s savannah. Despite living in the rainforest center of the world, the Mexican striped owl prefers open areas where hunting is easier. It is a common sight to spot these owls at dusk sitting on fence posts or utility wires while scanning a farmer’s field for rats. Like many species of true owl, the Mexican striped owl flies silently and uses their facial disc to pinpoint prey through noise rather than sight.
Rating- 12/10 (The owlest owl who ever owled.)

Is the Psuedomanarcia Daemonium problematic with appropriation like the Lesser Key is since most demons seem to originate from the Psuedomonarchia?
It doesn't have any instructions, just the demon list, as the author intended to make it unusable, and I have not yet found a demon that would be appropriated (there might be some though). Interestingly enough, the book is an appendix to De praestigiis daemonum, a book that actually argues that witchcraft does not exist, people accused of it are innocent, and if someone claims to practice it, they are mentally ill rather than a witch.
I do not claim the book is completely unproblematic, as I both find it unlikely (especially regarding the treatment of mentally ill people) and have not read it beyond Pseudomomonarchia, but it contributed to abolishment of witch trials and is certainly on a different level than Ars Goetia and the entire Lemegeton in that matter.
We have no earlier earlier sources for most of the hierarchy Weyer presents, considering the character of his work I consider him making it all up rather than having some former material is unlikely - but it is a little funny a whole magical tradition stemmed from it.
However, it doesn't mean one should not educate themselves when engaging with demon lore in general, not just with actual grimoires like Ars Goetia, as there is a lot of problematic (often antisemitic) stuff entangled in it.
*As for your "most demons seem to originate from the Pseudomonarchia", it is true only for the goetic ones.

Hey, hate to poke ya again Scribe! Have you heard of the Fasciculus Rerum Geomanticarum? It's a 14th century italian spellbook and I found a couple daemons currently listed in the ars goetia (furfur, marchosias) first appear there, as well as Belial.
As far as what has been seen, the document hasn't been able to be properly translated into english so the only doc online is in old italian.
I do know from what I saw Marchosias appears as a triple named spirut, while furfur just stays.....furfur lol.
Hey there! No worries, I'm always available (when work allows it lmao) and honestly... I didn't.
I might have read it somewhere - maybe mentioned?? not sure - but I never searched it. But as soon as I saw your ask, I started a quick googling rabbit hole in the little quiet moments I had at work to search some kind of pdf copy of the text as it sounded interesting (and also I can help with the dang old italian and some latin) but I only found a pdf copy that is made with photos of the book, but not transcriptions. Is it the same version you found?
Sadly, the resolution isn't really great as it gets pixellated as I try to zoom in to read better. While some parts are readable, others kinda mush together some letters and I can't really discern the words.
But I was able to find the part where there's written about the demons, at least. There's a short list, then there are some uh- I'd like to call them ramblings as reading them it's mostly about sanctifying the book with those prayers as to avoid influence of the demons written in them, and it's some pages long. Then I found the pages with the sigils, they seem inspired by the ones found in the Lemegeton but I noticed that most sigils are different from the ones in there.
I didn't find the part you mentioned with Marchosias and Furfur :/ I saw a smudged name next to a sigil that looked like Marchosias, but I didn't find the other names. Maybe I should give it another look.
If the quality was better, it could have been very interesting to read but 600+ pages of pixellated calligraphy where in some places is unreadable doesn't motivate me to even keep browsing it sdafddsf

Event Title: Daemonum Lux Event Length: 1 and a half weeks Event Timeline: Anytime during Season 1 and 2 Event Status: AU Event End Date: November 16th 2022
About Event:
Luz is now a demon living in the Boiling Isles. Actually she’s always been a demon! This is how she’s always been. Imagine all the shenanigans that could happen now! At least considering how different her life is compared to Luz the Human.
EXTRAS:
This Blog’s Hunter will play a minor role when needed in this event but is not the main focus.
Camila will be implied to also be living in the Boiling Isles
Canon events will be rewritten as if Luz is not a human at all. Any other muse could take the place of the human, or no human could be involved at all. Up to you. But Luz will not not know anything about ever being human.
Threads for the event may be continued after the events end but any new threads made will be not be tagged as event threads.
This event will later become a full au verse once the event is over. If you wish to be a part of this au’s canon events, feel free to ask! I do not mind and I am not exclusive in any kind of way
Asks directed towards Hunter or Luz in regards to the event must have “[ Luz Event ]” in the ask to keep it separate from normal asks for now.
This event may include fighting and this will be plotted in DMs. Permission for a fight to start will be asked as well.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE A STARTER FOR THIS EVENT PLEASE LIKE OR REPLY TO THIS POST.
