probably unpopular opinion? but i hate the whole "dawn may come" forced sing a long sequence in DAI. the fact that it's unskippable, the fact that the game forces the chantry religion on your character even if you've explicitly made your character not an andrastian* (down to a literal priest basically bullying you into it), the song itself feels overwrought to me and doesn't really have the narrative payoff the game seems to think it does. idk, it's just a nails on the chalkboard moment in the game for me. it's too bad, i know a lot of people love it but i just can't get behind it** the fact that solas can pull you away from it endears him so much to me too, like oh thank goodness someone else is NOT into this moment and will help me escape through the proverbial window of this scene. what an absolute relief (i do wish it were skippable, i get them wanting you to sit with it for your first run but on multiple pts it's just such a long kinda dull sequence. im sure they weren't expecting people to replay it as much as i have but still) *i feel like this is also my biggest issue with dai, the fact that they clearly wanted you to be a gung ho andrastian but also wanted to split the difference and go back to letting us choose different bgs and it really doesn't work for dalish elves or qunari (even talvashok i think have their own religions). Also the fact that you miss huge bits of lore by not playing an elf too (same with datv), i wish it had been balanced better or more focused (bw/ea def kept learning the wrong lessons from their previous games it seems like). **i do like the bit before it where you're wandering through the snow, i love that trope of one character collapsing in peril and then their companions/loved ones find them and bring them to safety. i wish there was more there- like the person who finds you depends on who you've established relationships with beforehand or something i also like to think lavellans get more wolves. def wish they'd done more with the whole dread wolf concept and his thing with wolves, i feel like they just explained it away too easily in trespasser/datv like they didn't want to deal with it. there's all sorts of intriguing easter eggs in dai with the wolves- like that one necklace you pick up and a few things cole says, and i just wanted more werewolf solas i suppose. like it would have been neat since he wasn't really evanuris he had a connection to wolves and not dragons or something. Which could have also gone into some neat parallels like how his greatest flaw is pushing people away when he's 100 percent best in a pack and being alone makes him more fragile...oh well)

Hello Everyone! After Veilguard we may all be mining away at a couple of new playthroughs, so i thought my good old Custom Inky Portrait Tutorial may be handy (Heh) dandy.

I welcome any and all translations this document to make it as widely accessible to any and all Dragon Age players. Just please credit me as Will Gore or @wng0re.

Common Mistakes (Updated in accordance to people reporting these to me):

Icon Mix-Up: If you save an image with the wrong resolution or dimensions, your icons may be swapped around when you go into game. To fix this, make sure you have directly edited “UIAtlas_PortraitIcons_Win32_TofDXT5Atlas0” and “UIAtlas_PortraitIcons_Win32_TofDXT5Atlas3” and that you do not have any settings in your editing app that will cause resolutions or dimensions to be bumped.

I almost forgot about the PJs. The Inquisition is like, "You're ours now, so let's put you in the ugliest PJs and jacket possible, in the most offensive colours imaginable." Eugh.

I’m reposting this with better clarification, but for dataminers using Frosty Editor:

There’s some sort of error with certain WAV’s meaning some cannot be opened right now, and it’s universal across all copies. What happens is that the program tries to load them, then calls quits on a certain number (for instance the audio for the 2nd inquisitor dialogue always fails at track 389, whereas one of solas’s audios fails at track 91), thus causes Frosty Editor to crash. You can tell which one it will crash on if it crashes on the same number the 2nd time you try to open it. After that it’s probably not worth trying to open that file until a solution can be found. I personally can’t tell if it’s an issue with the editor or the ealayer3.dll. But I also can’t tell because I play my video games on windows and not linux.

hey! I always wanted to give Dragon Age (Inquisition) a try since so many people love it. How do you like the game? Also do ypu use any mods for gameplay? :-) thank you!

okay SO i know i complained a lot abt the character creation/models on here but i will say this! the scenery and world building in this game is GORG they still hold up pretty well in 2024! As for combat, I dont find it hard to get, im playing as a Knight enchanter atm its nice mix between a warrior and mage- i can get up close w a magic sword or hit from far away but i am a cheater w mods so take that as u will! You don't need to play the previous games to understand DAI but I know I needed to watch some videos on the lore bc i never bothered reading the books in game 😬 i watched this one (1) n got the gist.

Now for mods, I had a hard time loading the game using both frosty mod manager and the DAIMOD manager but turns out the fix was super easy i was just stupid, you have to the delete the ModData folder in ur install location b4 using frosty- I use this guide for modding the game now, and I have no issues- or well, none i can't fix ;)

MODS/GAMEPLAY recs I have are this

Use this quest order for the game! (i was TOILING away in the damn hinterlands man :( ignore shards/astrarium quests, and really exhaust those dialogue options with ur advisors n companions- i totally forgot to do that before making it to skyhold so some dialogue feel off now)

Mods I use for my Human! fem inquisitor: Katherine Face & Eyebrow Textures, Anto Hairstyles for DAI, TW3 Outfits for Dai, Flemmeth Armor for Human Female, Twisted Ponytails, Enhanced Character Creation (installed in DAIMOD btw)

Cheats/Fixes: More Banter, Kill all Hostiles Cheat, No Perk Requirements

I bit the bullet and decided to reinstall DAI and like, before veilguard, Frosty mod manager was working just fine with it but now it leads to this. Anyone knows what it means and what can I do to just be able to use it again

Has anyone ever ran into this problem? I just tried to launch DAI through frosty after not playing for a year (maybe longer) and this is what steam keeps telling me. EA keeps kicking me back to steam as well. It will launch if i don't try to launch through frosty though. Anyone know how to fix it?
