so i've been working on this woodland teaset for weeks and it's finally out of the kiln! (video shows each piece, music is by bensound) tbh i'm not entirely pleased with it (the oxide got a little too strong and blurred the faces of some of the animals :/ i added it because the ones i sent through as testers looked a little bland with just the underglaze but eh i should have just let that be) but that's kind of the nature of ceramics. It's still cute even if it isn't exactly the colors i had envisioned for it (lessons learned for the next set) it was a fun sort of challenge to throw the whole set (they're all wheel thrown, then i carved/sculpted the details) and try to be consistent in terms of sizing etc. I now have many more ideas for more thematic teasets lol (tho they are A LOT of work to make) There's one teapot, one sugar bowl, 2 creamers and 9 teacups! I'm keeping one of the teacups for now (the merlin featured below) because it's my favorite. happy to report it insulates hot beverages well and is comfy in hand :)

Anyway most of these will be available for sale at both my in person events in july (july 12 at san pedro pride and also at my studio's member sale july 12-13) and then will be in my shop if there's any left over! my partner likes the sugar bowl best, even though it was an early sacrifice that i sent through to test glazes so it doesn't totally match the rest. He just keeps petting it and goes "that's a good bird!!" XD

TIL that one of the main guys from my favorite viking/medieval fantasy metal band (feuerschwanz, they're a delight if you don't know about them, they're extremely silly and committed to the bit in a wholesome way ) IS ALSO the frontman for a musketeer folk metal band (called dArtagnan) and they're also really good and i love it so much?!? i love all the bands that sit at the intersection of folk, punk, metal and cosplay/ren faire shenanigans like a+ no notes, i love you beautiful musical nerds

tag your moots and tell them something random about yourself tagged by @dreamerinsilico (ty!) and replying now before i forget like i usually do with these things (i always go "awwww that's so nice! i will participate in this later" and then it flitters away). stealing your format b/c i am basic XD right now i'm reading: actually in between books atm ( i read books in big chunks, i'll read a bunch in like a week and then wait a bit before i do it again), but i have one more murderbot book to read and i can't recommend ALL OF Martha Wells' body of work ENOUGH (not just murderbot, but also murderbot is very good). i have another big series from her that i'm excited to dig into (probably after all the events i have in the next 3 weeks) very much rec "Witch King" (my brother handed it to me last october and was like "read this" and i read it in like a day and immediately preordered the next one) and the "Raksura" series if you're only familiar with her via murderbot watching/listening media: i'm always watching/listening to a lot of stuff b/c i watch/listen to a lot of things in the background while i'm working (much of it trash lol which is why any time a friend is like "oh i saw this embarassing series it's x" i'm like "oh no worries i've seen all the seasons of that") things i can rec: murderbot! it's really good, really thoughtful, pretty faithful to the books too (i wasn't sure about skarsgard at first but he's excellent in it). I look forward to it each week. all of drop out (this season of game changer is really good! i've also been really enjoying parlor room, which is new and kind of a light on ramp to watching people play games which i don't normally like that much) Sentimental Garbage: this is a podcast and it's delightful! It's kind of a general media review podcast that does a lot of romance and fantasy stuff as well as general ideas. The thing i like BEST about it though is the host has the absolute best snort laugh in the whole world (eps: the whole sentimental in the city SATC run and follow up on AJLT are very funny. Also: The Dark Materials, Dragonheart, The Princess Bride, Gilmore Girls). But honestly I just rec scrolling through it and seeing what you're into. what i'm playing: currently sort of hyperfocused on art stuff and don't have a ton of time to play games (i get really tetchy doing other things atm) but in occasional free moments: tactical breach wizards: this game is so unexpectedly delightful, i've really enjoyed it. I am at the end (i think?) and therefore dragging my feet (i'm very much a person who never wants to finish games) a bit. valheim: the viking building survival game! i started a new viking and have been working my way through it again (the last time i played was before they added the mistlands & the ashlands), it's got good building loops where you don't have to progress if you don't want to (i'm very much a "be over leveled for all bosses b/c i liked crafting more" kind of person) so i mostly just use it as a slightly dangerous building/farming sim destiny 2: idk if i can really rec this to anyone because it's such an obtuse silly game atm, but i mostly just play with my brother and we have been working our way through the various dungeons and getting slowly better at playing which is fun. We have recently been grinding "warlord's ruin" for buried bloodline and are unbelievably pleased with ourselves every time we complete it (even though we've now done it 5 times now lol). been making myself warlock now even though their jumps make me cry (hunter main)- tho tbqh both my brother and i are TERRIBLE at jumping puzzles so much of the difficulty comes from platforming for us lol mostly we are just silly and run up to randos in social zones to try and get them to do emotes with us and try to have the best guardian fashion. so that's fun optional but tagging @safetytank @shrimpssss @totally0random @allsaintsday @cl4m0art @azimedes @fugitiverabbit @valoscope and whoever else wants to do it (yall seem to be my most active moots)

i personally feel this is giving bioware too much credit and does many ace relationships a bit of disservice. To me his romance feels incomplete because you barely get to spend any time with him- my partner is ace and we spend all kinds of (non sexual) time together. People talk about us as a couple, we get to be considered partners in group settings (like people will talk about us as a pair) etc. I'm aware of how he feels about me. I get to talk about him to other people, stuff like that. I spent 2/3 of the game not sure if my rook was actually dating lucanis or not, the game is so miserly about giving you any confirmation of romance/affection/friendships (so much of it is gated behind story missions and even the content that is there is not great). I think op is giving bioware too much credit because several of the relationships feel like this, not just lucanis', so it does not feel intentional at all. And even the friendships are a little weird- it's much more opaque about how these characters feel about your rook in general (i think b/c they all start good neutral-ish whereas we're used to most DA squads starting kinda strongly opinionated about you and you have to really invest time in them to get them to open up/get deeper, even the people who are initially friendly towards you. the datv squad feels largely like the mabari from dao in terms of approval unfortunately). I wanted some scenes where you just hang out with Lucanis and maybe work on your special interest together outside of god killing (we know he loves wyverns and knife gifts! a little excursion to go watch wyverns together or go knife shopping together). Maybe you could go just drink coffee with him on the fly sometimes (repeatable- in place of repeatable kissing or something like we got in previous games), do a wyvern-themed puzzle, just hang out while he putters about the kitchen, that sort of cozy hanging out time. Maybe a little dialogue about being the lighthouse chef, stuff like that (you get a teensy bit of this with the shopping list note changing each act but i wish rook could be involved somehow- like maybe a little radiating quest where you go find ingredients for him- stuff like this!). Even have a little more dialogue when you give him the tea set (tho apparently he reacts more strongly if you wait to give the gift til after the romance is set, it's weird that the game doesn't communicate this at all- especially since in previous DA games you give gifts to gain approval/unlock dialogue so i feel like we're all sort of trained to do that). Things like that- it feels like they cut a lot of this content, the content that made previous dragon age games feel really special. A little more dialogue/party banter about your relationship with your squad etc. A feeling of it being more integrated into the narrative and not just an afterthought b/c the devs didn't want you to have to "rp too much" in their rpg (◔_◔). Like if it was enough for you that's great and valid! But it is a bit dismissive to tell folks who didn't feel like it was enough by saying " that's just what relationships with ace people are like" -they are ofc wide and varied. It also feels like giving bioware a lot of credit for rep when we know that a lot of content was cut due to all the fuckery that happened with this game (which is ofc sad and understandable but i'm not giving credit for absent content).

I'll say it

People only think Lucanis' romance is incomplete is because he's very obviously asexual

aggghh i've definitely hit the event horizon on stress for the events i have in july*. just ordered a pile of cards of my design after reviewing it for a day and a half and ofc i forgot a bunch of my more popular ones T.T also my list of things to make proper prints of is also quite long (i know i don't need everything especially since i'll have ceramics and block prints but at the same time ARGH) at least once i have inventory in hand, i will hopefully finally be motivated to put it all up on etsy etc *if you're in the LA/long beach area, i'll be at san pedro pride on july 12 and my ceramics studio is having the member sale at the studio that weekend too (july 12-13, obvs i wont be there july 12, but will be around in person on the sunday. my stuff will be in both places tho)

happy pride! here's my agender anarchist design :) i remain preoccupied with things with too many eyes and wings

i generally use non binary as the catchall (and it's easier for cis people to grasp) but i'm actually much closer to agender and genderqueer/fluid (i sort of feel that i'm genderfluid between agender and other genders depending on the day, but like base form is no gender pls and thank you. but that's a bit too complex for most people who have a hard time even using "they/them" despite the pronouns existing for the singular in the english languages since the 1860s so you know).

i made this because i always get a bit annoyed at those well meaning cis people who are like "oh non binary people don't want to disrupt the binary" and no fam, some of us do. some of us are deeply chaotic creatures from the void who wish society could be a whole lot less binary as a default. anyway, you can currently get this design on my teepublic but i'm currently working to have a better quality version (have to figure out a local screen printer or do it myself) up in my store (and will have prints and such) .

i'm also making some mugs along this theme, so those will be available too

the number of etsy sellers making vendor items (like signs, banners, social media signs) that are also aggressively christian is kind of wild to me (i guess it shouldn't be but still).

like the listings look mostly normal unless you zoom in- a lot of the sign poles have crosses EMBEDDED and unremovable from the design and there's other little things in the images like that (that are pretty easily to miss, unless you've been staring at various custom sign sellers for hours) And then when you read the descriptions, there's usually a WALL of text and then near the bottom there's a bit that's like "we can't print anything related to these subjects" and then the list is like "nudity/sexuality references, witchcraft, rocks, fantasy, mythology, drugs, astrology, constellations, new age " and it's like well those things are not really like each other and you're giving very satanic panic.

THEN you go farther down and there's an extra note in super "polite" double speak where they say they won't take anything regarding " social and political issues (with some exceptions). This includes wording or imagery that contains content pertaining to sexuality, political perspectives, or other divisive social issues" which you know the exceptions they're making are not for anyone on the left lol. some of these sellers also have bible verses in their "about descriptions" but not all of them, like it's both blatant and insidious? idk really bad vibes (good to know i guess so i won't give them my queer dollars but it's very the quiet parts out loud, they are clearly emboldened by our shit government). real off putting for sure also like who do you think are going to these markets??? it's gonna be a lot of witchy people buying your candles and shit lol

definitely had my bluetooth steelseries (nova 7) headset fail me for the last time this morning and switched to the cheaper corsair wired one that i got as a back up a bit ago (it's the hs65 model if anyone's curious) since i have a telehealth therapy appt every week and my headset has been increasingly unreliable).

so far it's so much better??? like the mic isn't as positionable and doesn't look quite as sturdy, but it has pretty good sound and the headset is much lighter weight than my other one so far.

also bonus, it can't disconnect from bluetooth randomly and doesn't have a reset button inconveniently located behind the hard to put back ear cups (it does have the usually too warm leatherette instead of other fabric ear cups so we'll see how it holds up. i can probably find fabric replacements if need be).

(honestly i do not know why steel series is so highly rated, i've had nothing but trouble with their headsets just randomly failing and bits falling off or not working properly. and the software for it is just horrid)

ugh i really like tactical breach wizards but sometimes the level design/puzzles are so frustratingly engrossing. like maybe a little too much so (esp since it lets you rewind your turn so you could just be sitting there, puzzling out things indefinitely)

i'm reasonably sure it can and has both meanings depending on the context/speaker (and sometimes both at the same time! look villains are complex and hate can look very much like love/desire and vice versa)

honestly i never thought the phrase “i want that twink obliterated” was like a sexual thing. like when i read the phrase i imagine “a meteor like the one that killed the dinosaurs is summoned from the heavens and hits the twink in question” type situation
