Those are not Daisuke and Rui by the way, and yes their counterparts. I have yet to find a cool name for Rui-kun's counterpart before i start fully writing or doodling things with him, haha 💧

Rui: Then, why does he call you by that?

Daisuke: It's a LONG story... 💧

It has begun. It’s “the beginning”, you could say

Rui is not an excellent dancer, but he clearly enjoyed learning a bit of everything for his own survival. And since Miyako invited him and the others for a dancing party he… He got this strange request from Daisuke.

“Slow dance, huh…” The boy mused, “Slow dance is… a little trickier for me because I… I never danced with someone before. But I watched videos on the internet teaching how to.”

But for what reason, though? Again, he just felt it could be useful someday… This is what you do when you reduce your physical contact with other people due to the fear of everyone discovering your digi-eye.

“... Ok,” he took a deep breath, “Place your left arm on the top of my right arm, put the hand on my shoulder. I’ll try to guide you.”

He put his right arm beneath Daisuke’s armpit and hand on Dai’s back, gently and kindly.

Ukkomon just played the slow ballad while he and V-mon watched the boys dance practice.

19 - underwater kiss

It happened in a matter of seconds. One might consider it lucky that Rui wasn't rendered unconscious with shock of being barrelled into so abruptly - but the moment Daisuke thought of it, he knew he had to do it, or common sense would kick in and he wouldn't.

It wasn't a proper kiss so much as an impact as he slammed into his boyfriend and sent them both crashing into the ocean, though it turned softer as Daisuke melted into the salty makeout for the few seconds before they both broke up for the surface.

"So? I didn't break the rule of not kissing in front of the others, they can't see it underwater!" He says as if he did not at all just give his partner a heart attack. "Lets do it again!"

At least that was more of a warning. Before Daisuke shoved him back into the ocean.

Rui would learn quickly that bouts of mania were part of the package, or he wouldn't learn at all.

It was a bit challenging to find ways of depicting Rui bonding with them all, especially when some of them didn't get enough interactions with him in the movie...

But I think everyone would be so cool and amazing in his eyes, those six basically helped him to overcome something that had been haunting him for years, and he learned a lot with them too.

I think each of those six had become an important friend in his life. And they definitely might be introducing him to other people they know (like, the older six, Wallace, Michael, Meiko... the International Chosen network...) and encouraging him to make friends on his own.

I've fallen in love with Rui even more by watching the movie. Like, a deep connection about a kid who once had no friends and now is an adult with possibly with legit real friends. And those kiddos here made him make amends with Ukkomon and then solve everything peacefully, and decide to restart from step one again. And maybe, in the end, he can look back and notice maybe some of those friendships he made as a kid weren't totally an illusion and try to reconnect with them just as he managed to connect with Ukkomon in this movie?

02 surely is a story about relationships, and so is this movie...
