You wondered how you missed it in the first place. Sure, the things in the attic were shoved there a long time ago, but you were surprised you didn't see it in the first place when you were moving to your new house. Two years later, you found it while looking for a family recipe you inherited.
It was a photo album you'd never seen before. There were pictures of you, your husband, and another guy who you'd never seen before. Your heart was pounding as you flipped through the pages— how did these pictures exist, and how did you not know about them or even remember when they were taken?
You flipped through the pages rapidly. Every single picture included you and the other guy for sure, while your husband was only in a couple of photos. You stopped flipping when you got to a page that had a single, dried pink carnation wedged into the crease, and the photo with that carnation was of you kissing the other guy, and you were in a wedding dress while the other guy was in a tuxedo.
What the hell was going on?
Your brain spiraled as you tried to figure out everything, but no matter how hard you thought, you couldn't figure it out because you truly had no fucking clue who that guy was.
Suddenly, you jumped when you heard the garage door open— your husband was back from work. You quickly carried the album in your arms and got out of the attic before he could walk through the door and into the house.
"Hi, honey. I'm home," he greeted as he walked through the threshold.
Your heart was still racing from racing out of the attic and because of the revelation of this insane photo album, so you were a little winded when you replied, "Hi, Yunho. Welcome back."
Yunho looked at you with slight confusion— probably because you greeted him with his name and not your nickname for him. You were hiding the photo album behind your back, but because he was already suspicious of your behavior, he spotted it right away, and as soon as he did, all of the color faded from his face.
"Where'd you get that?" he asked immediately, his voice hard.
You had no choice but to bring the album in front of you. You set it down on the kitchen table near you and said, "In the attic— Yunho, what is this?"
"You weren't supposed to find that."
"What's going on? Why are you acting like this?" you were starting to get a little scared.
"You— Why— Oh my—" Yunho ran his fingers through his hair as he started freaking out. "Oh shit! Give the album to me, please!"
"No! Yunho, what the hell is going on!"
"Fuck, okay! I'll tell you! Just... Give me the album, and sit down. Go sit in the living room."
You eyed him before doing as he requested, the urgency in his voice scaring you shitless. You sat in the living room for a couple of minutes before Yunho joined you. He set a glass of water on the table and uttered, "This is for you."
"...Why?"
"You'll see."
Yunho set the album in front of you, and he opened it up to a page where it was a picture of you, him, and the other guy. He pointed to the other guy and said, "That's Junseo. He was our best friend, and at some point, your husband."
You stared at the picture trying your damn best to remember who the hell this guy was, but you couldn't for the life of you place him. You remained quiet; Yunho continued.
"We were all best friends after college, and you and Junseo fell in love. You got married, and I was his best man, which explains most of these pictures because they were taken at your wedding. The other pictures are of us going on trips or going for brunch— your daily life type of things."
"...Why can't I remember any of this, Yunho?" you asked, your voice wavering. "I... I don't remember Junseo, or the wedding, or anything..."
"You have amnesia. You and Junseo... You got into a car accident. Junseo didn't survive, but you did. When you woke up, you didn't remember anything, but you did remember me because I met you before you met Junseo."
"I don't remember being at a hospital though..."
"The terms of your amnesia are a little complicated from what the doctors told me. They think you just pushed out any of the memories that had to do with the accident out of your mind— something like that. I guess being in the hospital was also traumatizing for you, so you don't remember that either," Yunho explained.
"So... I was married... To this guy..." you said slowly as you pointed to the man in the picture. "And... Now he's dead... Does that mean..."
You started crying. Yunho immediately sat next to you and dried your tears, but they were falling too quickly for him to get all of them.
"Honey, it's okay... You're alright," Yunho said softly. "You're okay now."
"No, Yunho... I... Am I supposed to be dead, too?"
"Absolutely not! You survived that accident because of your will to stay alive. You are not supposed to be dead."
You shook your head and sobbed in Yunho's arms. You were trying so hard to remember everything, but you truly remembered nothing, and it was the lack of knowledge that was making you miserable. Why couldn't you just remember what happened?
As you cried, Yunho comforted you. He made you drink the water he had set on the table earlier, and he patted your back. Your sobs died down after a while, but you kept your face buried in his chest.
"Honey, let's go sleep," Yunho whispered.
"It's still daylight..." you murmured, exhaustion taking over your body.
"Then we can take a nap. Come on."
You refused to budge, so Yunho ended up carrying you to your bedroom. He laid you down on the bed, and he got in bed right next to you. He pressed his forehead against yours and kept one hand on you, patting you softly until you drifted off to sleep.
Yunho didn't sleep. Once he knew that you were fully asleep, he snuck out of bed, and he went back to where the photo album was. He took the album and went to the attic to put it back where it came from.
When he got to the attic, though, he couldn't help but look through the memories one more time. He flipped through the album slowly, reliving all the happy memories he shared with the two of you.
Then, a frown settled on his face when he got to the wedding picture of you and Junseo, and the pink carnation tucked in the book. His fingers ran over the dried petals momentarily before flipping to the next page— the very last page of the album.
On that last page was a newspaper article:
Wife of dead husband miraculously survives murder-suicide.

liz gasped, "look at him! the cat is so cute!" she smiled, looking at a small, gray-ish cat named seok.
"he is cute," you smiled.
you, and your girlfriend liz were at a pet shelter, just looking around and playing with the animals there. liz always said she didn't want to adopt, but you could tell she did. she always liked helping the staff out with the animals, it made her happy.
you liked seeing her happy, and that was usually when you took her to an animal shelter. and today, that's exactly what you did. but what she didn't know was that you took her to the shelter today to see which animal she took the most interest in so you could adopt the animal tomorrow and surprise her.
obviously, she didn't suspect anything because you two go to the shelters so often together, she thought you were just taking her because she was really excited to go to the shelter again that weekend. the only hard part was that she took interest in every animal there. you had no idea which one she would like the most.
liz gasped again, breaking your train of thought, "babe! look at the cute pug! she's so tiny!" she cooed, petting the puppy and giving her a treat before leaving.
you laughed a little, "i can see that, love."
when you two left the shelter, she was pretty upset, but you took her to her favorite ice cream parlor before heading back home. by the time you got back, you were sure which animal you were gonna get her. that small, gray-ish cat. sol? sun? no- it was seok. that was the cat's name.
the next morning, you said you were going to go on your daily morning jog, but that was a lie. you went back to the shelter to get seok. you bought him online the night before, when liz was asleep. you felt bad for lying to her, but it was a surprise, you kind of had to.
"thank you for purchasing seok. he just got here not too long ago, so he is still a little feisty, but don't worry too much. we've trained him and helped him get used to humans the past couple months he's been here," the lady at the desk smiled.
you had seok in your arms, petting him and smiling, "thank you as well. see you soon," you set seok in his pet carrier, waved and left.
there was no traffic that day, so it only took you about 8 minutes to get back home. you opened the door and softly set the cage down. thankfully, liz was in your shared bedroom so she couldn't see.
"liz! come here, i have a surprise for you!" you called out and liz came out pretty quickly.
"close your eyes and hold out your arms for me, love."
she did as she was asked and felt something somewhat heavy and fluffy in her arms, "what is this?" she laughed.
"open your eyes."
when she opened her eyes, she was excited, happy, and shocked all at once, "you bought me a cat?! seok from the shelter yesterday! oh my gosh, thank you so much!" her eyes were tearing up and she gently set the cat down on the couch before hugging you tightly.
"this is the best gift ever, thank you y/n," she cried.
you hugged her back, "of course, my love. i love you," you whispered in her ear.

bluto felt and looked different from usual
FEB 25, 2024
The big lug we know and love had an unusual quirk he noticed while he was briefly making the daily rounds of picking a fight with the other scamps around him and just like him. He felt odd and he didn't know why. Of course this is a result of one thing, the long sleeved shirt was not fitting right, and it was kind of itchy. Today, Bluto took off his shirt in privacy and saw a small bed pug attached to the typically soft wool of what comprises his warm turtleneck. The bed pug blew a raspberry and him, and made a rude gesture towards him.
Photo Courtesy Olive Oyl Girls and Ladies Co.
It may have bitten him like this. Luckily, Bluto stole a can of bug spray from the insect disposal boutique and went to work destroying the bed pug's little life, and stunk up his whole woolen turtleneck to boot. Bluto took one long smell at the insecticide on his shirt, and became dizzy, slowly shutting his eyes as he drifted off into sleep. Bluto has not been seen wearing his prized threads since, and ends the story of this bed pugs little life.
