Top Ten Actors Who Could Play James Bond (2024 Edition)

Dum-dada-dum-da-da-da, dum-dada-dum-da-da-da, DA-DA, da-da-dum. Yes, it’s that time again; time to needlessly speculate without any provocation about the casting of an iconic role.

This particular bout of “who will it be” is, of course, prompted by reports that erstwhile Quicksilver and future Kraven Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been offered the role of James Bond. Now, it’s fair to say that this remains a rumour; indeed, if I was a betting man, the very fact that this rumour has come out suggests to me that it isn’t, in fact, true. But it’s still got me thinking about who could be Bond; after all, the gap between the last film, 2021’s No Time to Die is ever-growing, and they usually like to be pretty speedy about these things.

Daniel Craig’s tenure as Bond is somewhat ridiculous, because even though at five films he’s not the most prolific in the role (behind both Connery and Moore), he was technically in the role for a whopping fifteen years. So long, in fact, that when Spectre came out, I actually did a list speculating who could replace him, and even that was nine years ago.

Anyway, we’re at it again; who could play Bond? And that’s what this list is all about, if you haven’t guessed. As usual, I’ve come up with some Rules, because that’s what separates us from the animals. First of all, these actors have to be British. Or Irish. Or maybe, at a push, Australian. Well, they have to be from the Commonwealth, at least. No Americans – that’s the takeaway. No Americans. Secondly, I have decided that they should be under forty. No offence to ancient people, especially the hideously decrepit 42-year-olds; but after Craig spent so long playing a variation on Old Man Bond, I think we should focus on a sprightly young chap. Presumably they’re going to be in this role for, what, six years? Ten? So I think it’d be best to plump for someone in their thirties, better to avoid Moore-style stunt-person-itis in their later films. I mean, look at Chris Hemsworth; it feels like he’s been Thor for a million years, but he’s only just turned forty. Maybe he really is Asgardian. Finally, I’ve picked all blokes. Why? Well, as much as I’m in favour of gender-neutral casting – or outright gender-swapping (if you’re gonna remake Highlander, Karen Gillan is right there) – I do feel that James Bond is, well, a bloke. The line between it not being a big deal or even positive to fuss about with a character’s gender is as blurry as the concept of gender itself, but I just feel like James Bond is a bloke.

That’s it. Now pay attention, 007…

Kingsley Ben-Adir: possibly the oldest actor here, but easily one of the most charismatic. He can be intense and brooding, with serious dramatic roles under his belt; but he’s also done more action-y stuff, big Hollywood stuff, and been a romantic lead. And he’s a Ken. Come on! He danced at the Oscars! Plus he had to be in Secret Invasion, he could do with a break.

Regé-Jean Page: he’s got the suave part down better than anyone (Bridgerton), he can do commanding and authoritative (Dungeons and Dragons), he’s even dabbled in action with The Gray Man. He’s done his bit in the Brit TV coal mines and has proven his acting chops. Look, just picture him in a tux with a martini. He’d rock it, shaken or stirred.

Henry Golding: absolutely nails it in the looks-good-in-formal-wear stakes. He’s tall, he’s attractive, he’s done his share of romances. And he kicks ass like the best of them; of all the guys on this list, he’s probably the closest to being a proper flat-out action star. And if you were hoping Bond was a Henry Cavill type, he’s the best of the bunch.

Dev Patel: the first three guys are broadly similar, in that they ooze traditional suavity. Patel, I think, possesses a looser, fuzzier air; think of the out-of-place charm he brings to the likes of Slumdog or Best Exotic. He’s so naturally charming, you’ll always root for him; but he can really bring the edge, the darkness, the rage. From the looks of Monkey Man, he can bring the thunder too.

Robert Pattinson: tall, lantern-jawed, traditionally gorgeous, with immaculate hair. He’s a superb actor, he can wear the hell out of a suit, he can be funny if he needs to be, he’s not afraid to puncture his own aura, and he’s cool in a Vintage Brad Pitt kind of way. However: can a person be both Batman and Bond?

John Boyega: arguably a bit shorter and scrappier than the other actors on this list, Boyega nevertheless is both a tremendous actor and a ball of screen-incinerating charisma. The Force Awakens really showed how, when put to good use, he can charm anyone off the screen – even, just about, Harrison Ford. I’m not really sure he’d want to be Bond, mind, but it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

Connor Swindells: possibly one of the lesser-known names on the list, and also one of the youngest; he’s part of the ensemble of Sex Education, where he’s very good indeed. He’s also a big, broad, square-jawed fella with a look of John Cena about him; he’d definitely convince as a buff, tough Bond. But he can do sweet and vulnerable incredibly well.

Will Poulter: like Daniel Craig, he probably wouldn’t be everyone’s first thought when it came to Bond; but like Craig, he’s got depths and charm galore. He can be supremely likeable very easily, but also play layers of depth and darkness. And I don’t know if you’ve seen him lately, but he’s hench now. If he’s not Bond, they really need to give him an Adam Warlock solo movie.

Paul Mescal: Mr. Flavour-of-the-Month, he’s the hot new star on the rise. He’s young, good-looking, charismatic; he has a glint in his eye, oodles of charisma. He’s about to star in the sequel to Gladiator, when he’s sure to look ripped with his shirt off and garner even more fans. In fact, it’s quite likely that he’s so hot right now, that there’s no way he’d do Bond. But he’d be good at it.

Nicholas Hoult: what can’t he do? Everyone’s favourite War Boy has the tall, lithe physique, plus a playful, flirtatious sense of humour that makes him convincing as a romantic lead. He made being a zombie sexy, for flip’s sake. And he can do the action stuff. In short, he’d be terrific, but he’s probably going to be too busy terrorising Superman for the foreseeable.

The alpha kids and their specific defiance of both homestucks gendered narrative AND real life societal expectations are so fun to think about to me!! but since we are talking about jake, his specific defiance of both homestucks models of masculinity and femininity in the context of his queerness is like the reason he is my fav character.

He props himself up that he wants to be the adventure "hero" in the homestuck sense (the hardheaded blue femme fatale) and the western media sense (the hardheaded action man) yet whenever pressed to actually act on what he says he always refuses or obfuscates. Because really what he wants is to just be himself! I really love the alpha kids because they all just want to be Themselves, not be restricted and defined by what is expected of them, (all the characters have this but the alphas particularly really hammer this home for me)

The heavy emphasis on their beta selves, the heteronormative archetypes they embodied and what went wrong in their lives that manifest as fears in their alpha selves... im always thinking about it. How differently society affects queer ppls choices in life and then the fact that they all get a second chance and getting to watch them live out that second chance and realize their queerness and them all caring so much abt eachother and wanting to aspire to be better FOR the ones they love!!!!!! it always tugs at my heart strings to ponder😢😢

IM SO GOOD AT GOING ON TANGENTS MY BAD but basically. The alpha kids explicit queerness and how despite the comic itself protesting, they are all shown to be deserving of love (of all kinds) And as a person who super heavily relates to jake, his experience with his own identity (and dirks unending adoration and love for him and likewise jakes belief and admiration of dirk) serves to me as a reminder that yknow! We are all worthy of love!! Even if we dont think ourselves to be (this is just the message of shrek.) and there is always hope to be found in things improving!!!!

But in a text thats explicitly queer and not shy about letting its queer characters do wrong in realistic ways i think this message is incredibly powerful and certainly one of the best things about the comic in my eyes. And i love embracing that in my art of the characters! Drawing queer (but here specifically trans) characters all getting to be proud of themselves and their appearances makes me feel proud of myself alongside them and I think its wonderful to be able appreciate other trans peoples experiences and looks through it too!!

I specifically in homestuck fandom dont really see anybody but twinks (usually dirk or eridan LMFAO) portrayed to be fem in any manner 😢 when jake is the most explicitly feminine man in the comic. (I think the transmisogyny thats kind of rampant in this fandom means people dont want to consider those outside conventional attractiveness being feminine or transfem identities outside binary transwomen if even that😭😭) I am being the change i wana see in the world 🙏 The amount of transfem fat gay bear jake in the world increases by one every time i post

CRAY TASTE Restaurant

Located at 118-22 Market Street, Philadelphia 19106.

This restaurant was featured on FYI Philly and it looked fabulous on television so my wife and I decided to check it out. We went on Wednesday for their lunch menu.

We arrived around 12:30 pm and found all the doors locked until we were motioned by the hostess to a door on the opposite side of the restaurant and it was open. My wife asked why they did not put a sign on the door to let people know which door to enter the restaurant. Both the chef and the hostess gave her a blank stare like they did not speak English

The restaurant was empty except for a table of four waiting for their food order and my wife and myself. The hostess then asks if we have a reservation and we say no. She says to us that she has to check the reservation book to see if we can seat you. - HELLO - THE RESTAURANT IN EMPTY!

Service

We wait a few minutes and a very friendly waitress asks to take our order. We both order the Whiting platter with 2 sides. For my sides I order French fries and Collard Greens, my wife orders the Mac and cheese and Collard Greens and we order 2 sparkling waters

After about thirty minutes our platters come. It is now after 1:00 pm and we are the only customers in the restaurant. My platter comes and it is the wrong order I get Mac and cheese instead of fries, my wife has the correct order.

 I tell the waitress I ordered the fries oh yes okay I be back with that she says. 10 minutes later she comes with the fries and I ask her what happened to the sparking water  and she says she be back with it. It has been 40 minutes since I put the sparkling water order in.

The Food

The fried whiting was burned to a crisp and very dry and looked and tasted like it came from a frozen bag you can buy at your local Wal-Mart. It looked like one small whiting filet was broken into 3 pieces. The Collard greens were very salty and watery and had no actual taste but salt. It would have been better to open a can of Glory Collards and serve that imstead of the salty, tasteless collards they put on my plate.

My wife’s Mac and cheese was like no other I had ever tasted I my life it was horrid! However the french fries were good.

Value

Our Whiting platters were $23.00 each plus sparkling water and the added 20% tip for poor service makes this restaurant an embarrassment to the city of Philadelphia.

In My Opinion

In my opinion, the staff is not properly trained and has no idea of what the term customer service means.

As far as the food, maybe the regular chef was off on that Wednesday and they had to get  a guy from an  employment agency but whoever was in that kitchen in my opinion  needs to go to a cooking school  or maybe spend some time with his grandmother to learn how to cook Southern cuisine or for that matter any cuisine.

There are many restaurants in Philly that have a Southern menu, for example, SOUTH on 600 N Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19130 knocks it out of the park.

On the CRAY TASTE webpage they claim the following:

Cray Taste has a team of 5 professional chefs that deliver every single meal with elite flavor and attention to detail.

In my opinion these are a group of amateurs who would not know attention to detail if it hit them in the face.

In my opinion "STAY AWAY FOR LUNCH", maybe dinner is better will check out dinner and let you know in the near future if this restaurant is still in business!

Imagine a cool-kids’ club where fledgling vampires hang out. When Daniel shows up, they flock around him, partly impressed by his strength and power and partly insanely jealous. They bully him a bit because he is ”illegal”, since his maker is too old and powerful to be turning people, but quickly realise they probably shouldn’t be doing that, precisely because his maker is so old and powerful. Armand does, after all, have a reputation of being both disgustingly overprotective of Daniel and sometimes batshit cray-cray. Who knows, he might not think twice about breaking a great law by incinerating those who tease Daniel about his family structure.

Meanwhile all the vampire parents complain to Armand that he needs to ground Daniel for a while because their children are bothering them about wanting to learn all the cool vampire skills right this instant, and question them on why they aren’t as cool as Armand.

Carlos yelled, somehow managing to wrestle out of his friends hold. All of them were screaming at him to stop running when suddenly everything went pitch black.

There stood Charles Leclerc, proudly waving a pan in the air. "HAHA! Not on my watch, amigo." He turned to his friends, who were all shell shocked. "Breakfast?" Charles asked with an extremely sweet smile.

"Lew? Lewis? Did you hear that?" Amira asked fearfully. "I didn't hear anything, love. Let's get a bit more sleep" Lewis answered, holding her tighter against himself. Feeling reassured, Amira went back to sleep.

2025 World Team Trophy Review

World Team Trophy was a vibe and I’m glad everyone had fun.

1. Team USA - 126 Points

Ilia’s opening 4F was so good it literally looked like a triple. He was definitely tired here, and it was very funny when he kinda just flopped onto the ice after his last spin lol.

Jason was perfect. 3A looked great. He is just a ray of sunshine. No notes.

Alysa’s MacArthur Park program was the perfect way to end the season. The vibes were just perfect. She was also looking quite tired at the end of the free.

I really thought Amber had the win in the bag, but her free program was a great note to end the season on. 3A was beautiful.

Alisa and Misha’s jumps were a little rough but they have great speed and they are both great at emoting.

Maddy and Evan were great. No notes. Love the free dance.

2. Team Japan - 110 Points

I’m going to miss Shun’s Ladies in Lavender program because it is sooo pretty. He was obviously very sick here but he pulled through. Things were looking a little scary during the middle of season but Shun really pulled through at the end and I’m so happy

Idk what’s going on with Yuma and the free program but I don’t like what I’m seeing. I hope he gets some well deserved rest. Both of his step sequences were beautiful.

Kaori is the literal love of my life who likes to make me nervous by saving her combo for last in the short program. She had a couple of tiny mistakes here and her GOE wasn’t as high as it usually is but all good.

Mone was great as per usual. Went down on the 2A in the short, and went down on the 3Lo in the free. She has had such a long season, and besides 4CC she slayed every competition. I am so proud of her and I hope she gets some proper rest.

Riku and Ryuichi slayed, especially in the short. Riku was fighting a bit to stay up in the free but they made it out alive. Riku basically dragging Ryuichi off the ice after the free was hilarious.

Yoshia and Morita had that fluke fall on the rotational lift in the rhythm which was so sad. I love their Romeo and Juliet program so much and I’m glad I got to see it one last time. I’m excited to see their progression next season.

3. Team Italy - 86 Points

I was so happy during Worlds because I thought that was going to be the last time I was going to have to watch Daniel’s Billy Elliot program but here we are. His jumps are so ugly. Idk

Nikolaj struggled in the short and then the quads didn’t work out for him in the free but I still love him. I’m really looking forward to watching him next season.

Lara slayed here. Only mistake was the popped 3F in the free. I’m so excited to see what programs she’s gonna have next season because she always brings the vibes. I love the Squid Game program so much.

Anna’s short was great, but she fell apart in the free. Still has the biggest jumps tho.

Conti and Macii were solid as usual. Maybe it’s because I knew it was the last time I was gonna see their free skate but I was really digging it.

Material matters and Guignard and Fabbri had such a bad free program this season, but the good news is that it can only go up next season lol. I never want to hear Land of 1000 Dancer again.

4. Team France - 78 Points

Adam’s short program was beautiful and I am going to miss it. I do not think I’ll miss the Dune program even tho I really like the idea of Adam Dune if that makes sense. His axis was a little cray cray tho. He is not allowed to get injured again. My heart will not be able to take it.

Kevin was en excellent team captain. Loved his day three outfit. No quads for him here, but it’s all good.

Lorine was pretty solid. Just had the popped 3F in the free.

Missed Lea’s short because the stream cut out, but she stayed up in the free which was good.

The Kovalev’s were on the struggle bus but I liked both of their programs.

The last Rasputin was beautiful. I shall miss it. Their GOE is pretty darn consistent. I am talking about Lopareva and Brissaud btdubz.

5. Team Canada - 72 Points

Roman’s 4S in the short was beautiful, shame he popped it in the free. Free was kinda sloppy in general, and he was moving slow.

Aleksa’s short was okay, and I forgot to take notes on the free.

Maddy’s butterfly program is very pretty, it I wish she would’ve finished the season with Danse because I liked it a lot, and she’s going to be doing the butterfly program next season. Lion Maddy was pretty good.

Also missed most of Sara’s short because the stream cut out which is sad because I like the Evanescence program. Second half of the free was low key rough.

Cannot stand Deanna and Max’s short and I am so happy that I never have to see it again but I thought the free was very pretty here. Struggled on the SBS jumps in both programs but they killed the throws.

Piper and Paul and spectacular. I love their rhythm dance so much and I will miss it.

6. Team Georgia - 68 Points

Nika was solid enough in the short, had a little trouble in the free with the 4S, and overall his GOE on his jumps were pretty low, which is not good because he doesn’t have a lot in the PCS department.

Morisi came out of retirement for this and then tried to do 4 quads in the free which is crazy but good for him.

Gubs said Redemption skate x2 and I’m so happy for her because Worlds was rough. It’s a shame she’s so inconsistent.

Alina also came out of retirement for this. She did a lot of doubles but she stayed up which is great and she looked like she was having the time of her life during her free skate which was amazing.

Metelkina and Berulava are so solid. Only mistake was her doubling the 3T in the free. Their GOE is great on all elements.

I was really surprised that Diana and Glen went ahead of the French team but I was really digging their Led Zeppelin free. I feel like their rhythm dance is a bit slow.

The 2024/25 season is officially over! I am feeling the figure skating burn out a bit not gonna lie, but I know I will be crying because I miss skating in a couple of months. I have a couple of posts planned out for the off season because I don’t want this blog to die during the drought and if I go too long without talking about figure skating I’ll probably combust lol.

Oscar arrives at the studio before Lando and his entourage make their appearance. All the better for Oscar so he can familiarize himself with the setup. It’s been quite a while since he was back in the recording studio, mainly sticking to the behind the scenes work at this point in his career.

It’s not like he disliked the recording studio, it was just never his forte to be in the spotlight with the artists. He didn’t like being the one to tell them to start over or try again with a take.

But considering their main studio technician, Daniel, was out today with a cold, it fell to Oscar to fill in.

So much for getting out of work on time.

A boisterous laugh breaks Oscar’s focus, and he looks up as Lando and his manager make their way into the studio space.

“No Lando, we cannot do an underwater concert,” Jon emphasizes with the attitude of a forlorn parent.

“But Jon, think about it, think about how cool it would be?” Lando waggles his eyebrows and smiles devilishly.

“No. Think about how much money that would be. No underwater concert.”

Jon and Lando finally register Oscar’s presence and their absurd conversation appears to come to an end.

“Oscar! Long time no see.” Lando wanders over and claps Oscar on the back, extending a hand towards him.

Confused, Oscar takes Lando’s hand in greeting and clears his throat.

Jon seems to sense Oscar’s hesitation and shrugs at him, telling him go with it.

“I didn’t take you for someone who would remember the random guy in the elevator’s name?” Oscar half-asks, half-tells as Lando settles himself on the workspace beside Oscar.

“I only remember cute random elevator guys’ names,” Lando rests one hand over his heart and winks.

Oscar splutters for a minute and Jon rolls his eyes.

Lando cackles.

“Okay, it seems it’s time to get to work.” Jon shoos Lando into the recording booth.

Yes, definitely. If you're looking for a complete, definitive history of George C. Marshall's life, I'd suggest Forrest C. Pogue's four-volume biography:
