So I doubt I have to tell anyone this anymore, because it’s 2024 and this fandom has hopefully grown some compassion, but I’m going to anyway because seeing some more hate for Cisco from back in 2016 (when s3 was first airing) pissed me off, so I’m gonna rant about it for a bit:
So: Cisco got mad at Barry for doing what he wouldn’t do for his brother. Um…yeah?? Listen, if someone told me that saving my sibling with time travel was too risky, but then it turned out they did it to save their family member?? I’d be pissed too!! wtf!!
Do I think people blaming Barry for every little consequence of Flashpoint was kinda overboard? Yeah. I don’t blame Barry for Dante’s death, I don’t blame him for Diggle’s daughter now being his son*. Etc etc. I am however on Cisco’s side, and I absolutely understand why he’s mad. He’s not blaming Barry for Dante’s death—he’s angry because Barry wouldn’t save Dante and yet still tried to use time travel to save his own mom.
(*literally HOW tf?? Writers?? Westallen can have Nora twice after timey wimey shenanigans, but Flashpoint changes a kid into a whole different kid??)
And yeah people are gonna say “but they signed off on it in the s1 finale” yeah!! That was then!! Different circumstances!! Barry made sure to talk about it with all of them and get everyone’s input!! Him doing it then would’ve been fine!! But here?? He only talked about it with Iris, and only in the vaguest terms. No one else got a say, even though he knew it would change all of their lives. How exactly is that fair? It isn’t.
I just…*sighs* I’m glad I don’t see recent hate for Cisco, because that would really piss me off. I just needed to get this off my chest 😅

DHD Prompt: any au, dante realizing cisco has superpowers (+ talking about it for the first time?)
set during 1x16
Dante Ramon was not the kind of person who woke with the sun, or, if he could help it, before midmorning at best. Of course, being a hostage tied to a chair was not exactly conducive to anyone's sleep schedule. So he was awake, fidgeting in his ropes, when his little brother suddenly froze, still holding one of his tiny screwdrivers and the skeletal metal frame of what he'd promised their captors would be a weapon.
"Cisco," he hissed softly, not wanting to attract attention and also not wanting to get punched in the face again if Cisco stopped working and Snart noticed. "Cisco?"
Cisco dropped the screwdriver, falling backwards hard enough to trip on the chain connecting him to what had once been a mobster's desk, now a captive engineer's workbench. He clutched at his heart with both hands, clawing at the fabric of his sweat-through graphic tee. Dante thought he might scream, but his mouth just hung open, wordless.
"Cisco?" Dante asked again, more urgently, less concerned for himself. "What--did you shock yourself, or--" He didn't know the first thing about whatever it was Cisco was doing, but it had to have been dangerous.
Cisco blinked, still clutching at his chest, his breathing a harsh staccato in Dante's ears. "I--I--oh, dios mio, I--."
"What? What happened?" Dante switched to Spanish, just in case anyone was listening.
"I died," Cisco said in the same language. "I was dead, I...felt it. It was so real..."
Dante wanted to scoff a laugh at that. In any other circumstance, he would have. "What do you mean, you died? You're right here, and you gotta finish those things so we can get out of here."
Cisco stood, still wobbly. "I'm not..sure," he said, looking at his hands. "I...It's a theory. Oh god."
"What's a theory?" Dante asked.
"The accelerator. It affected people..."
"Yeah, like the Flash, I do watch the news sometimes."
"It affected people who were near it. They got powers...when they died."
"I'm sorry, what." Dante said, flat. "That's crazy. I can accept weird laser guns that shoot ice and whatever the hell the Flash is, but--"
"Ok, first of all, it's not a laser," Cisco said, "and I'm not going to explain the science of it because you literally could not understand it, and second of all that's where you suspend your disbelief? Really? Right there?"
"It's 9 am," Dante shot back, " and you're saying you just got resurrected."
"No, I.. I think it was... a vision. Of what was supposed to happen today. The Flash... changed time, uh, yesterday. Reset button. I think...none of this was supposed to happen."
"No shit, this isn't exactly how I like spending my nights," Dante said. "Or mornings. or any time of day."
"Shh, I have to think," Cisco said, going back to his tools. He gripped the tiny screwdriver tightly. Dante rolled his eyes.
"Ok, so you died. And what, your power is... having a vision of it?"
"I guess," Cisco said.
Dante clicked his tongue. "The Flash got superspeed, that one dude on the news could set himself on fire and fly, and you get to see... a past that didn't happen. Damn, sucks."
"That dude on the news is engaged to my friend, the one you were flirting with at your party," Cisco said. "And it's not the worst power."
"Not great, either," Dante said, deciding to ignore the part about flirting with a woman who’s fiance might be able to set him on an unfortunate amount of fire. "It's not going to get us out of here."
"Yeah, well that's what my engineering is for," Cisco snapped. "Will you shut up and let me think?"
Dante decided to shut up.
"What are you doing, chatting instead of working?" Snart asked, lumbering in in his stupid parka, even though it was March and the temperatures had been rising steadily. It hadn't even rained, much less snowed, in weeks. "This isn't social hour."
"Sorry," Cisco said quickly, "I'm working as fast as I can."
"Hm," Snart said, moving towards Dante. "Maybe, or maybe you're stalling. Trying to buy your speedster friend time to find you? Don't try to play me, kid. I told you what would happen if you did."
"Wait," Cisco said, voice rising in panic.
Dante braced for the blow.
There was a crash, a shattering of metal and wood and the thud of a body slamming into something solid, and Dante squinted his eyes open.
The desk was in what could only be described as shreds, splinters and fragments scattered across the room, and Snart, bleeding from the head, crumbled against the far wall directly under a dent in the wood paneling.
"Cisco, what the--"
"Ok, I think maybe it's not just visions?" Cisco said, his voice still high and startled. "Uh--" he worked his ankle free, the end of the chain no longer attached to anything, and stumbled over pieces of the 3D printer to reach Dante, something sharp in hand. He sawed through the ropes. "We gotta get out of here."
"You think?" Dante said, standing and regretting immediately. His legs felt like static, all pins and needles, but there was no time for that. "Where are we going?"
Cisco shook his head. "I don't know. Not home. And not STAR Labs."
"Why not?"
"Because that's where my boss killed me."

A Reunion of Brothers
Iris was the writer of them, writing the stories for the papers, then writing everything for their grandchildren to one day inherit. But there were a handful of stories it felt only right she give Cisco the pen for. (T, 2k words) (Part of the Barriscowest Sherlock Holmes AU)
The Flash (TV 2014)
[Cisco Ramon, Iris West, Barry Allen], Dante Ramon
Additional Tags: Alternate Universe- Sherlock Holmes, POV First Person, Trans Cisco Ramon, Coming Out, Secret Relationship, Implied/Referenced Character Death, (in the future when they are old and have lived happy lives together), historical setting
Multiamory March Day 20: Journey
Dear Jenni and Bart,
I do not know how to begin this letter. I know your grandmother has had a book compiled for you for years. All our adventures, the full versions. And I have helped her with parts, I know she has kept the annotations I have given her and most of the annotations your grandfather has made, but there is one story she has always said is mine alone to tell. And I have always said I shall write it for you one day and promptly pushed it to another day again. I have started this letter to you countless times, torn it up, burnt it, left it, but now I am sat on a steamship heading to America and I feel it time to try again.

Dante saying, "You killed his brother?" in all seriousness will never not be funny to me. I honestly would love to see the Cisco in Dante's mind's eye, walking up to Reverb like, "There can only be one, bitch!" and just fucking obliterating him.

Dante Ramon and Mon-El for the character opinion bingo!
Dante Ramon:
Tumblr media
Since he got killed off right as he was finally getting character development he lives in this weird space where he's been a jerk to Cisco for years and blames Cisco for him being tortured by Captain Cold. But at the same time he also confesses something kinda minor in retrospect yet was clearly eating at him for years right before trying to buy Cisco time to escape by picking a fight with Mick Rory only for Cisco to run off later while Dante was in the hospital. And when Dante realizes how dangerous Cisco's job has become and the difficult decisions his brother is constantly trying to make, Dante realizes that if he doesn't try to fix things now then he could lose Cisco and never have the chance at all. What little we have of him in the first two seasons is largely flat, but there's a potential for depth in there and basically... we got robbed.
Mon-El:
Tumblr media
He had a lot of potential and then got wasted as the love interest for Kara. The timing of which - the writers breaking James up with Kara only to throw Mon-El her way - was terrible, they were ill-suited for each other, and it was difficult to believe Kara was in love with this overgrown man-child when she was making heart-eyes at Lena every time they were in the same scene. But Mon-El is a great example of how someone can learn and grow. The person he becomes over time is absolutely a hero in his own right, though he's always been a well meaning person. The fandom gives him a bad rap - in part for getting in the way of the more popular Lena/Kara ship (which James also suffers in fandom for thanks to him dating Lena) and in part because he's kind of a misogynistic and entitled twit at first, but instead of acknowledging that his attitude came from his privileged background as a prince and that he did grow as a person to shed a lot of his worst habits... a number of fans ignored that to pretend he was a stagnate cesspool. If he had less screen time as Kara's love interest and more screen time as a refugee struggling to fit into an alien culture, I think things would've worked out better for him.

“Deal With The Devil: Birth of Nero” Chapter 13: “Resident Evil 4 Remake (Pt. 9)”
The motor of the boat hummed and the water splashed, Leon sitting with his head propped up in his hand, looking ahead while Ada kept her eyes focused on the vast amount of water before them. Dante looked between them, wanting to say something, but he caught the look he was receiving from Leon in the rear view. Dante clamped his mouth shut as the silence dragged on.
Finally, after something seemingly gnawed at Leon, Leon turned to look at Ada, who didn’t so much as glance at him. Only when he decided against talking to her and only when he looked away, did she glance over at him.
Yeah, something had definitely been there at one point.
“You look like you’ve got something to say.” Ada called over the sound of the motor, Dante about to lean forward and say something until she held a finger in his face, “Not you. Leon.”
Leon didn’t look at her, “I’ve got something to ask you…” Then he did look at her, “but I don’t think I’ll get a straight answer.”
She merely smiled.
Leon continued, “Raccoon City. You know, after the incident. The world changed. You try to save one person; a hundred others die.”
“That sounds familiar…” Dante muttered under his breath, but Leon didn’t hear him.
“I guess I changed too.” Leon admitted.
Both Dante and Ada scoffed at that, Leon whipping his head back to look at Dante with a look. Dante held up his hands in defense, not meeting Leon’s eyes as he crossed his arms behind his head.
“You? Leon S. Kennedy?” Ada asked, seemingly not believing Leon either, looking directly at him now, “You haven’t changed. You just think you have.”
Leon looked away, the island they were approaching closer now, “So, here’s my question.” He looked to her once more, “Have you changed, Ada? Or are you just trying to use me again?”
“Whoa, what?” Dante asked, looking back and forth between them, “Plot twist. Again? When was the first time?”
Ada ignored Dante as she focused on Leon, “What do you think?”
(A/N: I promise, I am almost done with RE4Remake Section…like why is it so long though? Anyway, there’s some DMC1 flashback in this as well. Please enjoy!)

idk. i think it says a lot about me—someone who barely graduated high school at all and only did it on time because they lowered the requirements and has never and likely will never be able to go to college because it would kill me—that two of my favorite comic book characters Of All Time are considered deadbeat college dropouts or losers or dumb idiots by people in universe while still being extraordinarily kind and heroic and intelligent. especially because one of them is kind of The Way He Is as a reaction to trauma and the other was just... born being considered unintelligent by his peers. two things i relate to heavily.

Reconcile
After getting kidnapped by the Snarts and Mick Rory, Cisco had hoped things between him and Dante would be better. Meeting him at a bar was meant to be better. Except it wasn't, it turned into an argument like it always did, and he would have loved to storm out.
Except there seemed to be a blizzard outside (T, 1,055 words)
The Flash (TV 2014)
Cisco Ramon, Dante Ramon
@genworkjune- Flipping the Script
*referenced character death (canon to the comics only more complicated than that there because it's comics), implied alcoholism
“Great,” Dante said. Cisco stood next to him, staring in horror at the thick white filling the air. He couldn’t see the street lamps anymore.
Dante shut the door and looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
“Don’t blame me,” Cisco said. “I don’t control the weather.”

K, so as much as the rest of season 1 and the entirety of season 2 would suck with Cisco being dead, now that this thought is in my head, I can't stop thinking about how wild that would be if they literally killed him off for just that period of time, with the intention of bringing him back via Flashpoint and keeping him on for the rest of the show, but making the audience think he was gone for good for a whole entire season. That would've been CRAZY, yo.
#The Flash#Cisco Ramon#Barry Allen#obviously the whole thing with Dante would have to go out the window#because we didn't meet Dante until after Barry time traveled the first time#so there's no significance in killing him off if he hasn't even shown up yet#and because the big thing that Flashpoint changed about Cisco's life is now in fact Cisco being alive#so now instead of Barry returning from Flashpoint and finding Cisco depressed because his brother is dead#he's returning from Flashpoint and finding......Cisco? Alive???#and Cisco's probably his usual bubbly self and like that's a good thing but also#Barry is freaking the fuck out because CISCO'S BEEN DEAD FOR OVER A YEAR AND NOW HE'S BACK LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED#and obviously has no idea he was murdered in another timeline and also!! neither does anyone else!!#Barry has gone overnight from being on a team full of other people grieving for Cisco#to being the ONLY person with memories of learning that he was dead and all the shock that came with that#and the funeral and the supporting each other and the trying to grow around grief#and now it's all just gone but he's still affected by that death even though it's been undone now and NO ONE understands what he's feeling#and of course he's probably also really worried about losing him again#and since Dante's death was one of his big motivations in canon for not altering the timeline again after Flashpoint#(because causing that and irreversibly hurting Cisco was the biggest and worst consequence of altering the timeline)#in THIS version it's kind of the opposite#in canon he vowed not to change the past again because he saw the harm it could do to people in the present#but this time it's because he accidentally made his life in the present better by bringing Cisco back#and now he's terrified that if he changes another detail from the past Cisco will go back to being dead#and he can't risk letting that happen#it was hard enough going through that the first time#and he's just been through having to let Thawne re-kill his mom which led to Zoom re-killing his dad#and maybe getting Cisco back is a fluke in the universe and it wasn't supposed to happen#but if life will let him have this one bit of relief by gosh he's not gonna do anything to mess it up#(then of course Cisco's gonna piece it all together eventually when his powers finally kick in and hooooo boy is THAT gonna be a ride)
