Any dark academian and gothic literature books to recommend to a fellow nerd?

Walks in the streets arm in arm; entering vintage and old shops to buy a record or two, some old books that are going to stay unread, forgotten on a shelf; drinking tea together; slow kissing by the fire; reading poetry and quotes to each other; visiting a new art exposition; watching that film again, lines known by heart; feet touching on the sofa, both immersed in a book; decorating for autumn as rain is pouring and leaves are falling (but actually waiting for Christmas); drinking good wine in the kitchen, cooking together; matching jumpers and cardigans; running on crunchy leaves; loving each other softly.

dont read too fast.
it will make you lose focus on the topic and you’ll just be seeing words and not understanding the topic.
So what if you haven’t finished the whole book?
Take your time, read and try to understand, pause between sentences just to understand their point, reread the sentence if you couldn’t understand.

i’m your resident poet, cryptid, singer, whimsigoth witch and all round hedonist with a love for the arts and most other pretentious pastimes. i study french when i’m not galloping horses across the countryside or writing poetry (currently working on a poetry book called The Longest Summer, that’s due to be out as soon as i can find a publisher) or music (soundcloud link below). i fucking love tumblr and this hole-in-the-theatre-wall community we’re all in over here, and i want to keep my page a haven for melancholic souls and dead poets of all kinds <3
tragically yours,

there are some most historically accurate dark-academians who rarely buy books and vintage clothes, drink only instant coffee, take the advantages of public libraries, dining halls and coworking spaces. i find something unique in the way we can be ruthless in our youth, reading the books we don't owe, using second-hand stuff, keeping something from our parents, something from our friends, shortening our needs - because you haven't got free time to wander in a mall, you have to revise your lectures and finish that lengthy novel - it feels like the closest to the freedom from material world. i'm just a poor, always hungry and not-slleping-well student, not sure if i'm about to write an immoral article on legitimate crime or to die holding my friend's hand while fighting in the name of liberty. and it's not because of the society or my room in the attic, i swear.

first perfume recommendation is wormwood by sucreabeille..
it doesnt last long but it smells extremely comforting + unique… i wear it almost every day since i got it !!
the scent notes are as follows: anise, freshly ground cloves, dalmatian sage, frankincense
wearing this perfume makes me smell like fall comforts. at first u get a really strong cinnamon-y smell but it fades into a sweeter and tangy-er scent that wouldnt smell too out of place on a book-worm or librarian. a very dark academian scent.
buy it here
my playlist for this perfume
my pinterest board for this perfume

Dark academian au where Nancy is a student there majoring in gothic literature and Robin is a punk outcast. They meet in the flower greenhouse and start talking, which soon leads to writing each other essays and poetry. Eventually they start dating and then- (I dunno, something involving the two of them dying)

Hey, which are your favourite books? Your blog is a happy and peaceful place!
Hello! Thank you so much, I try to keep this blog as cosy and welcoming as possible
I read quite a lot, I think, so it's hard to give you only a few titles of my favourite books (also because my taste is continuosly evolving and so they are not always the same). But I would say that two of my absolute favourite books are Frankenstein by Mary Shelly (my absolute favourite classic if you ask me) and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. L'Etranger by Albert Camus is also another book that I absolutely love: I've already read three times and each time I notice new nuances.
Ok, I feel like this answer is becoming a list of recommandations rather than my favourite readings, I'm sorry!
BUT, if you're interested in French literature I would also recommend Le Feu Follet by Pierre Drieu La Rochelle: it's a novel that perfectly captures the sense of confusion and loss of values in the period between the two World Wars.
Other authors that I adore are Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Alessandro Baricco (even though I haven't read as much as I'd like to), Ian McEwan, Leigh Bardugo (especially the Six of Crows duology).
Oh, I also really enjoyed Circe by Madeline Miller (and I haven't got to read The Song of Achilles yet).
It's a lot, I'm sorry. But if you're interested I could go on longer with more titles!
Have a nice day, and thank you again!

Pressuring yourself to reading a heavy 3000 page history book when you don’t want to isnt dark academian, stop it.
Doing research and having your notes filled and messed up while doing it your way is dark academian.

here's a new category of dark academia:
the procrastinating academians who desperately want to live the dark academian aesthetic but can't, because due to the heavy and excruciating college work, they can't read many books. but then when vacations come around and have free time to read they always find ways to procrastinate reading and end up wasting the whole month watching some trash series and scrolling on instagram. and when school starts again, they say “next vacation i'll definitely read” and the cycle goes on and on.
