What about Ice and Mav whose first several meetings happened a couple years before Top Gun at a random bar in Tennessee, where Ice was the god of the karaoke machine and Mav was the master of the mechanical bull.

Maybe Mav is staying at Goose's place and Ice is visiting his grandparents, and the locals are all absolutely delighted when they show up on the same night. They don't know each other at first, but they get to talking eventually, buying each other drinks, fucking. They switch stetsons a couple times, just for the thrill of it, throwing looks at each other across the bar.

The last time they see each other, Mav has to leave the bed early in the morning because he was so caught up in Ice that he forgot he and Goose are leaving. He grabs Ice's stetson by an accident and doesn't realize until he's packing his things.

He carries it with him everywhere he travels for years, just on the off change that he'll get to return it, but Top Gun is the last place where he'd expect it to happen.

That first night, he comes to the O club wearing it. He catches Ice's eyes across the room and there's not a hint of doubt in them. He's on Ice's radar, he's just waiting for him to fire.

And Ice does just that when he follows him to the bathroom with a smirk. "You know what they say, Mitchell? Wear the hat, ride the cowboy."

"You know I know how to ride it, Kazansky."

Phil and Mike: [Talking in-character about the mysterious strange Slenderman-esque being that's been stalking Mike]

Fit: I mean, it's probably an admin, 'cuz that's the default admin skin, isn't it? Er, cubito?

Phil: [Dying of laughter] I thought we were roleplaying here, and you just say it "It's definitely an admin, it's definitely an admin."

a mike that is not a naturally gifted fighter but is naturally the best strategist in the room. a mike that tries to throw a rock and misses by like 6 feet at 13 but can knows how to use leverage to his advantage at 14. a mike that wields a candle holder in the face of danger but stands and faces it nonetheless. a mike that needs to protect his best friend and feels helpless because he can’t shoot a gun or run a mile or throw a rock. a mike that actually Can protect his best friend in other ways but tries so hard to protect him physically. he’s not naturally a good fighter but he will learn. because he loves people so deeply and needs to protect them. he needs them to need him and they need protection, fighting power. so he trains. hard. and in the end he’s one of their best for it. this is the mike wheeler that will lead them into battle wielding a sword by the end of the series. not because that’s who he was born to be but because these are the lengths he will go to for the people he loves.

It's well-deserved. NYADA's like that too — a lot, but in the best way. Legally Blonde? Yes, absolutely! It's iconic and I love the soundtrack. Kurt even has the vinyl hanging on his vinyl wall. When's opening night? Because I'd love to be there, and I'm sure Kurt would too. And great, I'm looking forward to it! Things are pretty good over here, apart from the intense heat wave we've got going on here. I'm helping out at a drama camp for kids this summer and I'm taking songwriting classes at NYADA, which is all pretty exciting.

You vs. We

i rewatched the first shadow yesterday and i think there’s a hentty/byler/mlvn parallel worth noting. (spoilers for TFS ahead⚠️)

when henry is taken by brenner for the first time and brenner asks him to make contact with the mind flayer, patty tries to reach out to him so he lets her into his mind in the void. when she sees him strapped down in the lab, she runs to his side, holds his hand and talks to him. it looks exactly like the way mike’s monologue is framed in s4. and that’s where the similarities end.

patty holds the unconscious henry’s hand, but in the void, she’s still looking at henry when she talks and henry’s looking back at her. she says something along the lines of “if you leave, we can run away and find my mother. we can fight the monster together, you and me.”

and this made me realise the glaring difference between how mike talks to el and how mike talks to will. the entirety of his monologue is “you can do this,” and “you can do that, el!” meanwhile at the end of s4, when will says “we have to kill him,” mike says “and we will. we will.”

that’s not the only time mike uses “we” or “us” when he talks to will about a fight against the enemy. here are some more examples:

in his monologue to el, you is el, we is mike, dustin, and lucas.

mike sees el as the other. as someone he cannot imagine as his equal, and it reflects in the way he talks to her. this doesn’t surprise me considering it is exactly what he tells will in the van. but mike and will have had no issues seeing each other as equals. even after mike saw will possessed and powerful. and even though will considers mike the leader of the party, he doesn’t think mike is above him. they stand on equal grounds in their relationship.

also did we really think finn would be able to just straight up say he ships byler in the same way noah can (his character is canonically in love with mike). and btw even noah had to ask permission if he could talk about wills feelings for mike, and cara had to take over and redirect it.

jumping to conclusions with things like this is never beneficial and it just causes unnecessary stress for everyone.

all i’m saying is think of all the proof we have. the confirmation we have. the canonical foreshadowing and similar elements.

like this. finn’s choice of words here is imo really well delivered. mike is a “natural outsider”

also in no way in this answer does finn imply the supposed “canon” establishment that mike fell in love with el at first sight. this is a contradiction, and whether it’s on purpose or not, it is something fresh in finn’s mind after just finishing filming as mike from almost a year. these are the kinds of things finn is thinking about when thinking about mike’s character and his relationships.

While Michael was constantly dismissed from plays and other projects for being 'too much' (a.k.a being fed up with and attempting to suggest changes to the material he was given)-

Last time: Eddie finds out about Becky

"How can he lo–" he coughs to clear the word from his throat. "The person you're marrying's supposed to know everything about you. How can she just, not? And apparently everyone’s just ok with that?"

Nancy's moved to lay down on the floor next to him. Her face even with his, and when he tilts his head to look at her, she reaches out to hold his hand. The warm, yellow lighting softens her features, reminding Eddie of all they have in common despite their own fathers. Curly hair, big brown eyes, an angled jaw and high cheekbones. A flair for the dramatic. Strong, driving passions for their careers. They're two people who get what they want, if they want it bad enough, and they'll do whatever it takes to get it. Even if it means breaking Steve Harrington's heart along the way.

Nancy smiles at him, gentle and small, like she can read exactly where his thoughts have taken him. "She's really good for him, Eddie. Becky loves sports, wants kids. She's patient when he's having an off day. Doesn't poke fun at him when he loses track of the conversation, and explains what he's misunderstood. She takes care of him. She loves taking care of him and isn't that something he deserves?" Eddie squeezes her hand when the first tear slips from the corner of her eye, tracing her cheekbone until it drips onto the dark green rug beneath them. "After his parents, you and I, and every other shitty hand he's been dealt– doesn't he deserve someone like that? Like her?"

“Then why send Max?” he asks in a last ditch effort. “Why send her and Lucas saying Steve wants to talk to me, when he’s finally happy with someone else.”

She frowns, guilt radiating off her in waves. “He does want to talk to you. I just wanted you to talk to me first, so you could really understand what we all went through– what you put him through. I love you, but I need you to think hard about what would happen if you walked back into Steve’s life right now.” Nancy wipes a tear from his eye as she cups his cheek. “Eddie, he’s happy. If you walk through his front door, he could lose everything you know he deserves.”

As Eddie releases a deep, cleansing breath, he nods again. Not hollow, but clogged with resignation. She squeezes his hand before standing. She reaches out her hand again and he takes it, only to be pulled up and into her small arms in a crushing embrace. Nancy rubs soft circles into his back, until they're both breathing just a bit easier.

The rest of the night's a quiet affair. Nancy shows him to the guest room where he unpacks the small duffle of clothes he brought with. For his rockstar sleep schedule, the night's still young. But the wear of the day drags him under the covers. He's thankful she's letting him stay when he didn't even expect her to answer the door. Except that's Nancy Wheeler, isn't it? A woman willing to push through any obstacle for the people she loves. Never letting them fall when they trip, and always there to offer a steady hand. Eddie drifts off to sleep wrapped in the comfort of knowing, without a doubt, that that includes him.

Ha! Probably but at least my breath was fresh...for all the people I wasn't kissing. If you're telling me it's a compliment then I'm going to take it like one even though you're comparing my minty fresh breath to your grandma. Who, I'm sure, is a very lovely lady.

At least you got to have some fun. I bet Halloween was crazy in your house. I wasn't able to eat more than a few pieces of candy a day so my basket lasted forever.

Pop rocks go crazy but not as crazy as Mentos. Glad you're alive, buddy.
